The Campbell-Sinclair clan is back in Late Arrivals. Dr. Brooke Campbell and her wife Tess are about to discover that growing a family is an adventure unlike any other. After the sadness of a miscarriage, Brooke and Tess are finally awaiting a new addition to their family.

Amid the excitement of a new baby on the horizon, Brooke and Tess are faced with the growing pains of ten-year-old twins Davey and Dani. The pair that has spent their lives nearly inseparable has begun to search for their individual identities. As Davey and Dani begin to discover their unique interests and personalities, Brooke and Tess find themselves confronted with two extremely different children. Dani is driven, focused, and confident. Davey, on the other hand, is deeply sensitive, fearing rejection and searching for acceptance. Tess and Brooke struggle to find balance with the pair. And that is only the beginning.

Brooke's medical practice has hired two new doctors, and one seems determined to challenge Brooke at every turn. Increasing activities for the twins, behavioral issues with Davey, and a new baby due to arrive force Tess to reconsider her career path. Parents have opinions. Children have questions. Schedules get crazy. Pregnancies aren't always easy.

Overcoming old fears and disappointments, navigating the minefield of parenting, coping with two sets of drastically different parents, changes and upheavals in careers will require a unique prescription. A dose of patience, a touch of humor, and a wealth of love are just what the doctor ordered. Life happens in every moment. Brooke and Tess will discover that some things have to happen in their own time. Some of the best presents are LATE ARRIVALS.

3.5 stars rounded up.
A pleasant read as the Campbell Sinclair clan navigate jealousy, bullying, a wedding, pregnancy and morning sickness. I just kept having a nagging feeling I've read something similar in the past. Does Brooke have to be an expert in everything? It gets annoying especially after its revealed that she can throw a mean fastball that could numb a catcher's hand on top of best Dr & professional caliber musician.

There is a lot going on in the lives of Brooke and Tess. Especially Brooke, she suffers a lot. D has a difficult time too. He hits an early puberty and that's tough for him but also for his mothers. D struggles with a lot of issues. He is very insecure and troubles are following him everywhere. The question is how will Brooke and Tess deal with this change in D's behavior. Knowing this beautiful women, together they can handle anything. I love this family and it's always heartwarming and funny to be with them. Even if only for a couple of hours. This installment is full with emotional ups and downs but the end is wonderful. I cannot wait to read more about the latest extension of the family.

Book four in the series has quite a few plots to navigate, bullying, miscarriage and pregnancy, homophobia, work issues, etc.

I actually found the Davey storyline interesting, as so often in lesfic the kids are just super adorable (and act way beyond their age) but here you've got kids who fight and a young boy who's not quite sure what to do with himself who makes some dubious choices.

The pregnancy storyline wasn't as thrilling, fairly standard stuff, although Brooke's parents situation added some interest to the overall story.

Brooke herself is the problem for me, she's too good to be believed (read Mary-Sue). She a brilliant doctor, can play any instrument she puts her hand to, is also good at baseball, and is the world's best (step)mom. Tess on the other hand, struggles with her kids attitudes, is stubborn, and comes across as a woman who's actually lived a life with some bumps. Might be nice if in the next book we discover that Brooke has some flaws.

Brooke and Tess's nicknames for each other continue to grate, and now that they've spread to the kids it's even more annoying.

This is an ok instalment, maybe a 3.5.

Another great story!

Once again, another great story in the Brooke and Tess saga! The characters are great. Their foibles and endearing flaws make for great character development for these two endearing women. The twins Dani and Davey are typical 10 year old children at their stage of development. Well done with the struggles regarding bullying and other troubles they are encountering with Davey who is trying to find himself in his social structure. The homophobia Brooke is struggling with in her practice is also addressed in a positive manner. Overall, this story was very well done!

Switching to a full length novel instead of a novella the fourth in the series featuring the Campell-Sinclair's. The twins are now 10 and Dr. Brooke is pregnant after suffering a previous miscarriage. Tess and Brooke's marriage is going strong but issues still arise. A big one is Davey is acting out at school and getting detention. He is bullying the students with his new friends. Also there is rivalry between the twins on getting attention from parents and concern about their place with a new baby. I kind of miss the old Brooke who rambles and fumbles in communication and is excessive in her gift giving. In this one she is a little too perfect. She's the best doctor, musician, athlete, parent etc. I love Tess who understands Brooke but still can be heart broken at her kids behaviors. I like that they get counseling for Davey but felt his other activity was rewarding poor behavior. Brooke is a good example of how doctors don't always make the best patients.

The problem with JA Armstrong's books is she sucks you in with her incredible ability to create such dynamic characters and engrossing storylines that you finish them way too quickly and you're left thirsting for the next one, which never comes around soon enough!! Another awesome book. Can't wait for the next one!

J.A. Armstrong has an awesome sense of humor. Every one of her books that I have read has made me laugh. But not just that her stories are excellent and things you can relate too. This is number 4 in an on going series and honestly I can't wait for the next installment. You do need to read them in order in my opinion. Have fun cause I'm on the look out for number 5.

Wonderful!

This fourth installment of Brooke and Tess's story is a well written tale of the trials facing the family as the women attempt to expand their family. Among the challenges facing them are a miscarriage, professional conflict and upheaval, increasing activities for the twins, behavioral problems as the twins grow as individuals, and the changing dynamics of both women's parents. How will all of these challenges affect Brooke and Tess (and the twins) as they move towards adding to their family? The issues facing these well developed characters make for an engrossing story that flows from the pages and right into your heart, making this a must read.
This is the 4th installment in the story of Brooke and Tess.

A long one for a change, which allowed the story to tackle more than one sensitive subject.

Brooke is so hard-head and dense sometimes I wonder how she's is a doctor hahaha. That other thing that happened, besides the pregnancy bit, got me so frustrated/mad! Urgh!

Also, I totally get Tess about her fears related to independency, any reasonable person would probably feel the same with or without her past experiences.

and the kids were a ride, and even though by the end I was totally understanding of Davey's, my goodness! Most of the time I shared Dani's opinion about stuff, honestly I don't know how people with children deal with stuff like that. Y'all should be canonised.

Welcome, baby Campbell-Sinclair!

What a delightful story! Full of laughter and love describing a blended family including grand parents a set of twins and an expecting Obgyn as a mother to be.

You just can’t get any better then this, I am still laughing. JA Armstrong has written this wonderful story of love, a growing family the trials that brings and has generous bouts of humor spread through out. Not everything is rosey, but the hard parts are well covered, dispersed with the hard parts of family life. I strongly recommend this book as a guide for young families that have same sex parents just as a guide to remind us that keeping our sense of humor during tough times is essential for a healthy way to grow together.

Family can be so much fun, challenging, lovable, unpredictable and so many other words. Change is in the air for the Campbell Sinclair family. I like how Tess and Brooke work together and interact with their children especially with Davey. The family and friend support is awesome. If only we could all be surrounded by that much love and support.

Wonderful

Another great volume. This story covers some heavier topics than some others, including school bullying, workplace sexual harassment, and homophobia. The way the characters deal with these issues, in particular the workplace issues, is a stinging indictment of our society's immaturity.

It Takes As Long As It Takes

Brooke and Tess are in a routine taking care of each other and the twins. Brooke’s parents have each decided they wand to be closer so they are each moving. Davey is acting out and Dani is a becoming a drummer. Then a baby is on the way and the count down is starting. A wonderful two Moms family romance.

The ending was incredibly heartwarming! I felt some chapters were very sporadic, although they were snippets into moments of their lives. I would have preferred more chapters entailing the trials and tribulations of Brooke’s pregnancy including the process to become pregnant. Overall a pretty good continuation of this series!

There is an old saying that "Doctors are the worst patients."

A ready made family and a new one on the way! Wow things start to happen when the doctor is taking the orders from the doctor when things come to ahead with the arrival of a newborn. Enjoy!

Started with a pizza

I’m addicted to Tess & Brooke. When I read the second book I knew I was hooked. This family blends together so well, even with all the highs, and lows of growing twins. Thanks J.A. Armstrong. Off to my next adventure.

ooooh we love babies,

Through trials and tribulations Brooke and Tess are growing the family, in both maturity for the twins and number of children. It never hurts a physician to be the patient, as it teaches empathy. Great story, with excellent main and secondary characters.

Unexpectedly, with this book, the series lost steam. The couple, Tess and Brooke are in the everyday busyness of life – bringing up tweens with individual personalities, careers, and trying for a baby in addition to the difficult relationship with Tess’ mom and other regular.
