I'm befuddled by this. I like the idea of introducing children's to cultural classics, but this is odd. I'm not sure why they chose 2001; in doing a little research, I found that the creators were rightly sued for, you know, taking the entirety of someone else's story and profiting from it. It looks like there are still some out there about books that are out of copyright, but these are just not all that well done. I say introduce kids to the actual classic when they are ready rather than bothering with this watered-down stuff.
