This is a great western. And Alex Cord is a master story-teller. The story is very fast-paced, and the characters are indeed larger than life. It is a quick read, and best savored in a quick 1-2 day reading marathon. Alex Cord has extensive knowledge of horses, ranching , cowboys, and his life as an actor combined with his historical research has resulted in a very believable picture of the Old West. The heroes and beautiful heroines are larger than life. And the do-or-die mission is equal to the memory of Crockett, Bowie, and Travis of Alamo fame. I have read ALL of Alex Cord's fiction, and he continues to impress me.
