When is a book not just a book?
When it is a covert tool to catalyze rescue.
Hear Me is more than a book. It is a tool for children who are currently living in abusive environments. The book relays important messages about self worth and finding faith in difficult situations. The message gently encourages abused children to expose their abuse to adults who can help them. The title is designed to be placed in a classroom, a waiting room, or anywhere a child might pick it up and be assured of their innate value. You are invited to join the fight against child abuse by placing a book in your own community. Purchase a book. Place a book. Rescue a child.

Life update: nearly 25 years ago I had a realization that time with my children at home was nearing an end. I wondered if I’d communicated life lessons to them well. Had I prepared them for the ups and downs of life…and of how to tap into heaven’s wisdom.
I put together my thoughts in a book and published a few copies for family.
Fast forward to this year, when I realized Caden (first grandson) was turning 16-that transitioning-to-adult phase of life. I gave him the book. He read it and immediately told me that I should get copies for his youth pastor to give to his peers, and especially for the kids who visit church only occasionally. Together we updated the book. Tyler (son) created a new cover for it.
This updated, family collab is available on Amazon, should you be wondering if the high schoolers in your life have pondered just how much their choices will shape their futures.
Here’s the link, which offers a short sample. Life : The Owner's Guide is also available in paperback.

This book was created to be placed where children who have been or are currently being abused could find it, be encouraged, and be hopeful that they might find someone who will help them.
It has not been sold in traditional venues, but was financed by a Kickstarter campaign. Backers both financed and "placed" books. I have a pdf file of the book that I can send to anyone interested in it.

If you then know a place where a child might be helped, I still have a few hard copies. I think they could also be attained by booksellers online.

Hear Me is written for the middle elementary school reader, but I have witnessed adults being impacted by its message. It is not graphic or scary...and even has a message for children who are not being harmed...but know of another who is in danger.

This books has been placed in schools, with police officers, in businesses (waiting rooms), dance classes, libraries, churches, camps, counselors, families and little libraries. The Hear Me kickstarter funded 1,000 books, which have been placed. A printer overrun has provided an additional 200+books, a few of which are still available.

What a beautiful picture book for children. The message is profound, simple enough for children but reaches the hearts of adults as well. Highly recommend.
