Game Changer

Phenomenal book. I'm a leader in the sales industry, and I have found that although my team generally likes me, I don't necessarily obtain the results that I want, nor what they want. This book breaks down ways leaders can do that, along build upon many other skills. What I also love is the fact that the book applies to leaders in every setting (e.g., teachers, parents, mentors, etc). The book is a light read, so I'd recommend that all leaders read it multiple times in order to truly internalize the material.

This is not a long book. You can read it in one sitting; however, the message is accurate and important. It points out the main things to focus on as a coach and leader. I thought it deep enough to remind me of the main ideas, but brief enough to let me keep moving and take in the rest of the concepts. It won't change your life, but it could help keep you focused on why you got into being a coach or leader in the first place.

Easy to read and understand

The book was easy to read and there was a lot you could take away and apply to life whether you are a coach or just someone who wants to improve their life. In a group situation this book could be a good reference point to get members of the group to interact better and add structure to their dialogue

Awesome Leadership Book

In order to be an effective leader, one must coach. This book provides seven great principles that each leader must demonstrate to bring out the best in everyone. It reminds you that we are all equal and really put forth the effort to know yourself and your team. I enjoyed the book and its entirety.

Quick read with great leassons

Quick read with very good lessons that will help, if applied, any leader coach their team better. Leaders are readers and this book should be on leaders' shelves (digital or physical).

Proof positive that little tools can help you do a big job!

Growing people, developing leaders, building teams . . . this is the important work of leadership. Coaching is essential to this work. Tools are essential to coaching. Coaching: The 7 Laws Of Coaching is a great tool. Keep this tool in your leadership toolbox, you will want to return to it time and again.

As Cagney notes, "Coaching is the method for contributing to the development of people's natural abilities and skills and improving performance." (5) Coaching: The 7 Laws Of Coaching will help you develop the essential mindset for this task. As Cagney points out mindset and attitude makes all the difference.

Cagney will address the following (and more):

1. What coaching does: See page 7.
2. The difference between training, mentoring, and coaching.
3. Assessment: Assessing oneself as a coach and assessing the team.
4. Encouragement: The special ingredient that makes people work.
5. Accountability: How to do it.

Don't let the page count fool you. In this case, good things come in small packages. It is a package to which you will want to return to again and again.
