They say Jacob Everett has nine inches.

They say he has a different girl suck him off before each football game, and that the girls line up to do it.

They say Jacob Everett is going pro, that he’s the best quarterback Harton University has ever seen.

So who am I to think that someone like him would ever look twice at someone like me? I’m a nobody. I come from small-town nowhere, I’ve never even had sex, and I like a good book more than a cold beer.

I don’t fit in at this college or with my roommates.

I’m not the girl who gets the guy.

But somehow, for some strange reason, Jacob Everett has taken an interest in me. And suddenly I want to give him the thing I’ve never given anyone else. And I can’t wait for him to be with me, touching me, inside of me.

I want him to use me, drive into me, and make me his.

I want to be spiked.

This book had some cute moments but mostly it was way too over the top. I'm all about a college manwhore who decides to change his ways for THE ONE, but the build and delivery need to feel believable and real or I'm just not buying what you're selling. And seriously? When your hero has notoriously slept his way around campus and then blatantly shames the heroine for one not that serious indiscretion, I'm outie. The banter between roommates, the whole "mean girl" vibe... it was contrived and cheesy. The virgin turned insta-sex-kitten of a heroine did not work for me. Also there were some major editing issues. It lacked any depth, it lacked authentic dialogue. It just... lacked. All in all... no.

Sadly, this way too short story just didn't work. It had promise in the storyline but it was just to flash bang and nothing depth wise. Rich senior college quarterback who falls for the poor little freshman virgin . . . well you know the story. Perfect example of coulda, shoulda, woulda.

Respect was her game. Learning to be a man was his.

4 Star Kindle Unlimited Read
Pick liked how the female lead was betrayed in this book. Most virgin leads are weak. This woman demanded respect. In the end it is what she got. But first the male lead had to learn to be a man. He had to demand respect for his woman and their relationship from his parents.

This is my favourite kind of college romance. Jacob is your typical manwh0re and Sasha is smart and sweet. What I loved was how she owned her sexuality and stood up for herself. Really enjoyed this book.

A long way to the finish...

Ok - I kind of liked parts of this book and its storyline; however, much of the dialogue was stilted and other details either sounded pretentious, forced, or plain unnatural. I also thought there were too many grammatical and syntax errors. Still, one of the books saving graces aside from a few very hot sexual scenes between Jacob and Shasha is how a lot of Sasha's topics of conversation were not just interesting, but we'll researched and INTELLIGENTLY inserted. Her initiation and loss of virginity scene, the results of which were not totally unbelievable,l lost its punch due to awkward dialogue forced in between Sasha's wandering thoughts (doesn't work when it goes on for more than a paragraph or two), insecurity, and hot moves/reactions by our two main characters, as well as a complete lack or trace of any aftermath from the loSs of one's virgin state. None. At. All..

And, lets not forget the absolute venom and plasticity of Piper, who would have sounded more convincing with better editing of her dialogue and content. Nonetheless, the last quarter or so of the book refueled my affection for our poor hero, especially when he came through for Sasha, and raised this rating another star. But yikes! The technical errors -- like, I've never heard of any quarterback with a Jersey number in the 40's. Aren't the. numbers a clue as t o the player's position? **

:(

So sad when they make the lead characters so unworthy. I mean if you want a weak leading lady and lazy romance this is the book for you. Personally I'm pissed, but it is what it is. At least I didn't have to pay for it.

Ummmmm ..... this was a very quick read. Nothing really special about this story. The main characters were annoying and I felt no love nor spark between them.

The story was ok...predictable, basic story line. It was too graphic for me and really short, which made depth an issue. It was ok but could have been really good, that's why I still gave it a 3

1.5 stars ( it was a 2-2.5 star but the last 1/4 ruined it more)

I wanted to like this but it made it impossible.First, the low rating is because of a few key factors: I skimmed ALOT, shallow storyline, not great characters, last quarter had some major flaws, and while there was a ton of steam, it was a little overkill for me(like 13% in they have sex, and then every other encounter except one, is sex) and the scenes went from good to eh, to not my style.

Basically skip this read and maybe try Elle Kennedy's series(The Deal is amazing) or even the Gridiron Gang series or Douchebag series.

Pros:
- some great steam
- umm.....

Cons:
-not great characters(main or supporting)
-storylines and backgrounds that are very inconsistent and unbelievable
- too much steam and not enough substance
-sex scenes werent always my style
- the hero is a kind of a dick and never really "redeems" himself
- the heroine is a doormat
- what 19 yr old virgin gives up to a stranger after a 10 min walk; to a complete manwhore no less??
- hated the Jenna thing-not written well, and just bad
-the last quarter (scroll for details but they are semi-spoilers)
- no dual POV

The Last quarter. . .
- Jacob never stands up for her really,
- he tells her hes never taken a girl to meet his parents but thats directly contradicted when we learn his parents know and love Jenna
- he tells her hes never taken a girl to his apartment but again this is proven false when jenna confirms jacobs sleeps with ALL his conquests(apparently there are alot) in the garden, at the alumni house or at his apartment (so lie/inconsistency 2)
- the whole Jenna visit is just horrid and then her suddenly being nice makes no sense- no girl wouldve come; especially without texting Jacob her "friend" first

So much about this book just made no sense or was implausible!

hard pass!!!

>Book Review – Spiked

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is a college sports romance with an HEA. I really wish sports romances would include realistic scenes of the sport, practice and behind the scenes in the locker room. This book tried, but failed to have enough actual sports in it, for me anyway. Jacob is the King of the school, the football QB. He is drawn to the academic shy girl, Sasha. Sasha has had to work hard for everything. She sees in Jacob a man who is gifted in everything, but soons sees behind the façade to the real man beneath.

>I really hated the scene where Jacob does not stand up for Sasha in front of his parents. Later in the book, I would have loved to see a redemption scene where he does stand up for her. The author states he eventually stands up for her but doesn’t show the scene. There are a lot of erotic scenes, but none of them are particularly romantic. Jacob only seems to want Sasha when football is going bad. He drops her like a bad dream when football is going great. Jacob says he realizes he wants her while he is injured, but that scene is not shown either.

>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 3 stars. The book needed more character development, especially regarding Sasha. The lack of romance was helped by the missing scenes that would have solidified Jacob’s and Sasha’s relationship.

not sure where to start

I don't usually write reviews like this. but I was seriously disappointed. the writing was all over the place and words were used incorrectly. like it had maybe been in third person and switched to first in the same sentence. it was really distracting and such easy fixes.

and secondly, Sasha had potential to be an interesting leading lady but man she didn't come off well. and Jacob came off as a real special kind of jerk. takes her virginity and seems concerned about how he went about the deed and yet treats her like garbage and she is dumb enough to think it was romantic...

I don't tend to leave reviews without finishing a book but I just couldn't finish it. there was just a lot in this book that I just couldn't get on bored with. I felt sorry for both characters.

I went into the book excited and left wondering where the story from the synopsis was.

Blah

Ok here we go. I knew this book was gonna be short and to be honest that's what I wanted, a palate cleanser if you will. This however did not work. I needed more from this. She's a virgin yet has no problem jumping into bed with this playboy? On top of her desperate need for her to get along with her roommate, was just disgusting. Clearly that girl didn't like her and she lied about her to her face yet she still tried to get along with her!? She had no problem standing up for herself when it came to his parents but to her roommate, she just bent over backwards to her. I mostly skimmed this book because it was that bad so pretty sure you can tell that I would not recommend. On to the next!

This book had a lot of potential. Story could’ve expanded more. Had LOTS of grammatical and spelling errors. However, I felt the author wasn’t exactly in tune with college to NFL players. Had she been she would’ve wrote it differently since an injury beginning - mid season is not a career ended in this case. Even if he didn’t make it back during the season he still has the NFL combine to compete in to get picked up in the draft. Case in point: Jaylon Smith - Dallas Cowboys linebacker, torn ACL and LCL in his college senior year and was still drafted as the 34th pick. AUTHORS PLEASE RESEARCH AND EDUCATE ON YOUR TOPIC!

I enjoyed this book in the beginning. Towards the middle it got a little hard to finish but got better in the end. I liked Sasha in the beginning. She would stand up to Jacob. Jacob was hard to fall for. Even after the book I didn't really feel attached to him like I did with most BBF. However, after she slept with him he ignored her. But when he got hurt, he ran to her and "needed" her, and she just fell for it. Over and over again. I wish she had the same respect for herself in the last half of the book as she did in the beginning.

I typically don't read books around sports so I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I really enjoyed the storyline and it was very well written. Jacob & Sasha came to life on the pages of this book and I couldn't help getting wrapped up in them. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down and would definitely recommend it! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and originally posted this on another website on July 26, 2016.

Well...he didn't suit up!

I really did enjoy the story, had a blast with the characters. BUT, and that's a big BUT...all I could think about was the "alleged" unprotected sex they were having. My enjoyment was overshadowed, SLIGHTLY, because of that thought running through my mind.
Nothing happened, but still...I know silly me.
Harper! You did an awesome job though. Thank you for entertaining me. ;-)

This book was just ok. I really like this trope so I’m a little more accepting of different versions if that makes sense. However, the hero did not do enough groveling IMO. And keep in mind when you’re reading this book, the main characters ages. I think I was expecting them to be more mature than their age (19 and 22/23). However, still worth a try if you come across this book and you’re mildly interested.

amazing

I love this book! 😍😍 I loved Sasha. She stood up for herself even when her “super strong, confident l, and popular” football boyfriend couldn’t. ☺️☺️ I loved Jacob up until he started being a coward, but he won me back with his love confession. 🥹🥹 The funniest part was Jacob sending her tickets to his first game of the season that everybody wanted to go to. But ended up selling them for $400!! 😂😂 For clothes and groceries. 🤣🤣

⚠️ OVERALL I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS⚠️

A really good book but too short .

This is a really good book and I enjoyed it but it was too short for my liking . It had the characters and storylines to be brilliant as well so that is a real shame .

I skimmed 3/4 of the book! They couldn’t even have a conversation without having sex, way way too much sex.
The characters were flat, no depth and everything was rushed.
The only reason i gave 2 stars instead of one is because i liked what he did to win her back.

Excellent sports read.

I enjoyed the writing, it flowed. I could see the energy of the characters and the plot. Some stuff wa closed over a bit too munch. The kink not my thing. Use endearment true to the region. other than that good story

FMC WAS ANNOYING

Mmc really did not do anything that made me like him. Him was a player as described and that honestly was never redeemed. This was purely a physical relationship. Was over it their 3rd go.
