HEY DIDDLE DIDDLE is a charming push-pull-slide board book of the famous nursery rhyme. The book conveys the rhyme along with animals who are at a carnival. Each page has an interactive element that children can move themselves to participate in the story. The back has a QR code to listen to the song as well!
What I loved: This is a really adorable book that brings the nursery rhyme to life in a new way. The illustrations are lovely and detailed, telling the story of a really fun carnival that the animals are attending. The interactive elements are quite clever and really make this story a lot of fun for toddlers. They will enjoy moving and exploring each page as they build on the story. The nursery rhyme is also very fun, and always great to read aloud. There is a bit of extra fun with the QR code that leads to the song as well!
What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the font can be tough to read on some pages, as it is dark font on darker backgrounds. Luckily, most caregivers probably know the rhyme and would be able to speak it regardless, but it would be tough to read at bedtime.
Final verdict: An interactive and colorful board book, HEY DIDDLE DIDDLE brings the nursery rhyme to life in a delightful new way that will be great for toddlers!

First sentence: Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon.
Premise/plot: What you should know about this book: a) It's a board book; b) it's an interactive board book; c) there is at least one interactive element per spread (and the cover is even interactive); d) it features the words of the traditional song; e) includes a downloadable song.
My thoughts: I have always been fond of "Hey Diddle Diddle." It is one of my favorite songs to sing with little ones. So I was excited to see this interactive board book. The pages are super-sturdy. Most of the interactive elements work easily. On the cover, little ones can "help" the cow jump over the moon. On the first spread, little ones can "help" the cat play the fiddle. That one is my personal favorite.
There was one page where the interactive element was very, very stiff and almost impossible to maneuver. But that could just be my own copy. It was the page where "the little dog laughed to see such fun." Speaking of which, I will stand by the fact that it should be "the little dog laughed to see such a sight." So maybe this book isn't perfectly-perfect.

Nosy Crow produces some of the best interactive board books. This may be one of my favorites. Traditional rhyme with a carnival setting. Joyful, brightly colored, sturdy book. Great for little hands (even a teething mouth). It has a wheel and other sliding features. A toddler or parent can turn the wheel to make the carousel spin, allow the cat to play the fiddle, begin a puppet show and ofcourse have the dish run away with the spoon. Super cute!

Super thick pages accommodate truly fantastic movements on the page. I love the quality of the construction. Perfect for singing aloud!
