Built on a unique four-year experiment working alongside real leaders in real businesses, Living Leadership explodes the myth of the charismatic, transformational leader, to show that real progress comes from the dramatically ordinary stuff of leadership. From building relationships - not starting revolutions, by working with the grain of your organisation - not against it, and in knowing your limitations as much as pushing every boundary.
Picked up this book on a two week management workshop in England in 2008. This deals with many of the soft issues of leadership like manufacturing charisma, dealing with yourself before others, two way communication, bad news, good news, transitions, etc. It reads nearly like a leadership instruction manual. The message is easy to read and effective if I force myself to think about the book. I just can't get the lessons of this book to stick with me. There are other leadership books around with lessons that I am able to stick with and implement in the daily routine.
