Dear Author,

I can only imagine how you feel waiting for the first review to appear here on GR... so here it is - I hope you can live with it ... if not ... call a Kindred and send him after me ... I will wait with a light in my window :- ) ... oh wait ... what I ment was IF YOU CAN live with it - you should call him .. #whatever ... just call him will you ?

Feeling like that lion in the cage … you know ? The one you see in the zoo that runs restless from one end to the other … I was staring on my kindle waiting for it magically to appear …

And when it finally did … yeah .. I actually had to finish another book reading obligation and had to attend two parties … until FINALLY I could start reading (logical that there would be that much in-between ME and my book) and you simply NEVER get between me and MY BOOK if you know what is good for you.

But kind of like Zara I felt when I eliminated each and every obstacle to get to the goal … yeah ok .. there were no dead people, no hot guy, no manor, and … hmm now you kind of depress me – but well you get what I am saying.

But now I am at the point that I was afraid of – Missing several hours of sleep because I could not stop reading I am now supposed to give my review on this book. I mean I already shared a lot of my thoughts in a more private setting where others were reading or already read the book, there it was easy to voice my thoughts.

Just like I already told the author … this review will be hard and just like she put it “There is this book with this guy and they do stuff – THE END “ Because no matter what I say I feel I will spoiler something.

I can not be sure if the person looking at this has already read RAVEN ? … You did not - ? ok … ahm no matter what you do .. you need to turn around and do that first … that I can tell you DO NOT read Swallow unless you read RAVEN first. You will not get what the book is about.

HA – See I could review on thing … #laughing

However I can give you my favorite line “you cooked?” ...

#Yeah now I did it – you know the whole plot now … #kidding

But really that line had me – Seriously now … I have to rely on the fact that after my fair warning above only people that read “Raven” are looking further into this review …

Zara changed here in Swallow. Not so much her ways but her determination became even stronger – SHE became stronger. She might have faced (UNDERSTANDABLE) moments where doubt and fear crept in. But NEVER never did she loose focus . And no matter what the official focus was - HER focus has been – and will be RAVEN.

Raven – also changed – (not so much #laughing) … he is an asshole … yep … but he is Zara’s asshole. There was this one moment in the book where this man left me speechless. Being Raven also means – he is a man of little words but he mad one speech in that book that left footprints the size of an elephant in my memory.

I am thinking the kind of “lets get a tattoo with that speech” - Trust me you will recognize it when you read it

There are many books out there where the leading characters are supposed to talk dirty with each other and it always felt staged to me. Staged up to the point that I found myself skimming through pages to get over those parts.

But Zara and Raven do not pretend to talk dirty. Raven IS dirty there is no pretense and he tainted Zara in the best possible way. You are looking for sweet cuddling … sorry you have to look elsewhere… “stuff” here is off the charts hot but def not of the cuddling kind.

And I was right in my review on Raven – this series will be a rollercoaster. Where still the supposed to be good guys turn out to be bad and the bad guys are better than the good guys. And still I do not mind that the really bad guys get killed in the process.

Which brings me to the brother issue … I still have no idea what to think about that guy. It never took my so long to make up my mind about a book character … which is an interesting thing because it explains a lot about the characters are handling this issue in the book. (gritting my teeth – I cannot say more on that subject … spoilers karma you know)

Finally … the secondary characters. They are OFF the charts too. I think I stared the next story’s in that series right in their face. No idea where the plot will lead us – but I see the characters I want to read about right in front of me …

May I send in some requests Ms Finn ?

Wow. This series just keeps getting better! I truly enjoyed watching Zara grow into her role with the Kindred, and more so her relationship with Raven. This book kept me on the edge of my seat with all the ups and downs, twists and turns. I seriously could have read it in one sitting if life hadn't gotten in the way!

The book kinda dragged... Probably won't continue since the story line isn't very interesting haha. Raven doesn't compare to Rushe :(

"Her love for him, her dedication to this man, that was something else that would never change."

Swallow is the second book in The Kindred series and you should read them in order to enjoy the plot line fully. Continuing where Raven left us, The Kindred is reeling from the recent loss of their leader and beloved family member. Each struggling in their own way to handle the grief and pain the team is united by the ongoing mission to end the threat to world posed by Sutcliffe and his plan to eradicate all those that oppose him. Firstly Swallow embarks on her own mission to ensure that Raven survives his epic self inflicted withdrawal from life, merely existing whilst he drowns under the weight of his anger, guilt and loss. She is his anchor during the storm of his grief, never tiring during the constant battering of his unpredictable emotions. Strengthened by the glimpses she sees of the man who stole her heart, she steadfastly holds on to her belief in love, a love that she hopes will be enough to coax Raven from his self imposed imprisonment. This is a darker, more edgy read that the first as Raven is even more secretive and withdrawn. The ongoing power struggles being the Kindred together to focus their collective minds to end the game once and for all yet where does Zara fit in the big picture, is she really Kindred or just a weapon in the war?

Swallow is another espionage filled, end of the world as we know it type read that highlights that everyone has their own motivations that drive them. Power, wealth and greed make individuals drunk with need for more. I can't decide if I dislike Swallow for her absolute devotion or admire her strength for enduring so much at his hands and yet still manages to remain deliriously in love with him. He is not the easiest to love nor the most pleasant to live with and yet underneath his brash and crude exterior is a man desperate to be loved. They are complicated characters with a spectrum of complex emotional issues that makes their love a twisted yet beautiful thing. Can they find their happily ever after? Can they save the world once again from madmen? Or is this one fight they can't survive?

A four star time to save the world read.

Wow! I was not ready for that ready for that ending! But isn't that what we want as readers, to be so engrossed in the characters and the story that we're not trying to piece it together as we go? That is exactly what Swallow delivers. The twists and turns and backstabbing will take you on an emotional roller coaster while you watch our heroine come into her own as one of the Kindred.

This book follows the events that take place in Raven (Kindred, #1) by Scarlett Finn (so you need to read that first). Zara is doing everything she can to hold Kindred together after the loss of one of their own. Brodie, aka Raven, has lost his focus and purpose forcing Zara to step up and take action on their behalf. With the help of Kindred, Zara goes undercover to stop a man hell-bent on mass destruction. But without the help of her lover/assassin who will watch her back and keep trouble from getting too close.

This book is filled with passion and intrigue and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page. I love that Zara is her own woman and steps up to the challenges placed before her. Brodie seems more dark and brooding in this book but he is dealing with some personal issues so I'll let it slide:)

I would highly recommend this series to romance fans.

4.5 Stars!

Holy Cow. This is the second in the Kindred series, and you really should read Raven to get the story and set-up. In a nutshell, Zara is an administrative assistant to Grant McCormack, a man she admires. Raven was targeting Zara for her connections to her boss (who just happens to be his brother). In Raven, Zara and Raven's band of brothers called The Kindred stop the sale of a device Grant has developed that can cause havoc in society. The destruction of the device leads to the death of Raven's uncle and mentor, as well as a few bad guys.

Now, Zara is one of the Kindred. She's assumed the identify of Swallow (ahem) and for the most part, moves herself into the Manor that Raven inhabits. Raven turns into a full fledged JERK while he's dealing with his grief over the death of his mentor. He's become a problem for the Kindred, and for Zara/Swallow. She finds her role in the Kindred increasing, her connection to Grant and the bad dudes one that is necessary to save them all again.

Just like before... Everyone is suspect. You can't tell who is a good guy and who is the bad guy, don't know who to root for, and find yourself stuck in the drama of it all. Most of all, you want to kick Raven in the rear for being a grade-A-A*hole, he goes and shows how committed he is toward Zara and becomes the ultimate Alpha again.

Again, an unexpected ending, and wondering if there will be more in this series.

Gripping story but unsatisfying ending

Ugh! I thought there were only going to be 2 books in this series but if that is the true ending, it's totally lame. If it's a cliffhanger, it's almost as lame. The story was gripping but the ending was so abrupt that it pissed me off. There'd better be another book or else...

Swallow's Mission

How does the Kindred go on now? What happens to Raven and Swallow? All the answers are given, as well as Swallows first mission as Kindred. This book will answer all your questuons, but also tell you more about each character. You see more of a mystery character, mention in Raven, and find out if Swallow' s mission is a success, and if Raven and Swallow make it through a rough time. Sit back, drink a little coffee and enjoy the next story of The Kindred.

So much suspense, I loved it!

Swallow was one outstanding suspenseful romance. I had a hard time pulling my attention away from the book. This book continues to follow Raven and Zara but can be read as a stand-alone. Zara is standing strong and trying to keep The Kindred going as Raven has his way of coping with a loss.

Swallow had so many twists and turns that you don't see coming and I loved it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶️🌶️🌶️

While the first book in this series had me by the throat, this one had me rolling my eyes and regretting getting attached to the characters.

There were several scenes that just weren’t my thing, and lines like “when I’m done with a conversation, we’re done with it” totally threw off my vibe.

Also, the constant pattern of not involving Zara until after everything had happened? Couldn’t have annoyed me more.

This story takes up after Raven and it does not disappoint. Zara and Brodie’s (Raven”) relationship has so many twists and turns you don’t even know where to begin to look for an answer. It keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. You will not be disappointed with the tangled web that has been spun.

I absolutely loved Raven so this book had a lot to live up to. And boy did it deliver, it continued the relationship with Brodie and Zara, just more from Zara's side of thing's.
Also it continues the war between Sutcliffe and Grant and the Kindred, which is great and has so many twists and turns to the story you won't see them coming.
Definitely a book I'd recommend 🥰💕

I love these two characters.

I still feel as though there were lots of parts that were repetitive and made it drag on more than it needed to.

But the overall storyline is great and I love the chemistry between the main characters.

wow!

I felt like I was on the edge of my chair.
Unsure of what the next move might be.
Enough spice to feel like an adults book, but written in a way so we don’t feel like voyeurs.
Completely enjoyed the read. Will be moving on to the next book in the series.

it was kinda flopped compared to book 1 but still enjoyable reading it. I just cringed with Brodie 'grab' Zara's neck. I mean I know that's probably their love language but won't it hurt Zara's neck every time he grabs her neck 😂

Swallow is the second book in the Kindred series by Scarlett Finn. You should read Raven first.
This book was provided as an ARC for an honest review.

First off, I must say I loved the first book Raven so my expectations for Swallow were high. Well, Scarlett does not disappoint, in fact she surpassed all my expectations in Swallow! She delivers smart believable characters who are genuine in their humanity. The story is strong, complex, sexy and suspenseful.

The story is narrated from Zara’s POV and she easily draws you into her life and the twists and turns of now being a member of the Kindred. She is not only intelligent but also quite a badass with a gun. Her love for Brodie is unwavering and her strong emotional fortitude helps her to keep going against all odds.

In Swallow we see a different side of Brodie. Events in the past have changed him and he finds himself in an existential crisis. He isolates himself from his work, friends and most sadly Zara, although he continues to use Zara for sex (albeit HOT sex!) emotionally he has checked out.

As Brodie slowly returns to Zara and the Kindred, his anger is a force to be reckoned with and he will stop at nothing to keep Zara safe. He is one strong, positively sexy and a dirty talking alpha male that you will love.

Brodie and Zara together are captivating and intriguing as they learn to trust and love each other completely. They challenge each other both physically and emotionally and their love story will have you cheering them on until the end.

I absolutely love this book and all its characters. I can’t wait for book three in the Kindred series!

Holy hot balls Batman. This book is beyond words. In all honesty 5 stars really isn't enough, but that's all they will allow me to give it.

So...where to begin. Swallow picks up where Raven left off. Raven is dealing with the loss of Art. He's not focused on the Kindred at all. Because of this Zara feels like keeping the group together is her job. She's also gone back to work for Grant. But it's only because she wants to keep an ear to the ground where he is concerned. It's a good thing she does, because the events that follow would be hard to keep track of for the Kindred if not for Swallow.

This series is by far one of the best I have had the privilege of reading in a long time. It's well written. The characters are kick ass and who doesn't love a brooding hot alpha? We also learn more about some characters that we only heard about in the last book. When I finished this book I was kind of pissed though. Not because of how it ended, but because it was over. I want more...(I'm throwing a temper tantrum like a 2 year old). In fact, I need more. I love these characters as a whole, but Raven...geesh! I don't think the picture in my mind does him justice. Scarlett Finn has created a great series and I can't want for the next book...no really Scarlett...I can't wait. ;-)

I'm really starting to get sucked in this plot line. At first it did seem a bit simple but not boring; egotistical ass with a dictator complex who feels the need to cleanse the overpopulated world. Even builds his own cult compound whose foundation is layer upon layer of vague utopian truths filled with deception.

Then of course, as the bodies pile up, the one man standing at the end put an intriguing twist in the plot. Setting the stage for the next book.

That being said, I could totally do without the romance between Brodie and Zara. It has become ridiculously repetative. Another relationship that revolves around lust. Zara and Brodie's characters, respectfully, are great. Even having them remain a couple works well for the story. But there's not much growth. That's not true. There is, but then it's repeatedly hindered when one, or both, reverts to the person they are at their core.

Now I have to read the third book, Cuckoo, to see where this 'cleansing' plot goes. P.S. there is no racial profiling. Just a group of self-righteous, delusional men.

Ok, I finished this a few days ago and I just had to get my thoughts together on this one before I reviewed it. More that I had to get my emotions in check, as I was so ready to jump through my kindle and physically hurt Raven and how he treated Zara.

This picks up right where Raven lets off. Everyone is dealing or trying to deal with Art's death and the fall out of Game time, Grant, and the rest.

I honestly don't know how Zara dealt with everything as well as she did. She is such a strong character and took some much from Raven and Grant. She was dealing with so much, but Tuck was right there.

This entire series so far will have you on the edge of your seat. You don't know who to believe, what to believe, or even who is good and bad.

The Kindred are back. Yeah!!!!

Swallow is the second book in the Kindred Series, following on from Raven (book one) the Kindred find themselves pursued by an old adversary they must fight to save not only their own lives but also the lives of the innocent.
Brodie (Raven) and Zara (Swallow) are as hot as ever in this book, and one sexy AF couple, the storyline is brilliant, it's well written, fast paced and exciting as hell, I can't wait to find out what happens next. I highly recommend this book.
