Just a few months ago Gabi thought her life was damn near perfect. She could never have imagined that meeting one man would spark a chain of events that would change everything. The only resemblance to her previous life is her relentless hunt for supernatural criminals. Right now, her world has narrowed to two points of focus; co-leading the newly formed Special Investigations Department alongside Julius, her Master Vampire Consort, and searching for the traitorous Vampire Caspian and his pregnant Dark Magus cohort, Mariska. Catching up with friends and making peace with her mother are also on her agenda for the week, but life may just have other plans.
Even the most rookie supernatural investigator would figure out that things aren’t going well for the Magi of the City, but the High Council is maintaining its silence and remaining distant from the other races. The safety and security of the City’s population is falling ever more heavily on the shoulders of the fledgling Werewolf Alliance, leaving Kyle, Trish and the other Pack Alphas to handle a rising influx of demons committed to infiltrating the City and wreaking havoc.
There are many scenarios that keep Gabi from her sleep, and when one of those concerns becomes a sickening reality, it rocks her to the core. Taking one of those most dear to her is a dangerous game, one that few would play, knowing what she and Julius are capable of. The list of suspects is short and the guilty party soon shows their hand, but is this all just a ruse and what could they hope to accomplish by riling up such powerful enemies?
There is no rest for the team as, with one emergency over, they are handed a scrap of information that will ultimately lead them straight to Caspian and Mariska. But are they truly ready for the final standoff?
Who will make the ultimate sacrifice and how will the rest deal with the repercussions of an ancient prophesy that culminates in the birth of Mariska’s twin children?
This is the nail-biting conclusion to the Hellcat Series. Buckle up boys and girls - there’s turbulence ahead.

A heavily pregnant Mariska, who may or may not have twin dhampir light and dark mages growing insider her, has escaped from her hospital prison cell. This is not good, because the secret to how to make a dhampir should not get let out. To top it all off, Gabi's mother has been kidnapped, and she'll stop at nothing to get her mom back.
The last book in a series is always a special time. We have to say goodbye, but we have to do it in the right way. Some series manage to end a series well, some don't. This one was caught in the middle. This is one of the most open ended series endings I've seen. It is about the point where I'm pretty certain this isn't the actual end to the story, just the end of an arc. I know there is going to be more to read in this story someday, if there is an audience willing to read it.
There'll be Hell to Pay introduces something that we have been missing for a while now, and I've been eagerly looking forward to it: Gabi's mom. Unfortunately, that is in the form of someone kidnapping her - by one of the "evil" vampires. This is wrapped up as quickly and easily as everything else has to date, really. This should have been an ordeal, and instead it wasn't.
I've been looking forward to meeting Gabi's mother because of her mother's dislike of all things vampire and dangerous. We've known that throughout the series, but Gabi's life is much changed from the beginning of the series. She now has a consort and husband, she is part of the vampire upper echelon. She has a job basically working for the Princeps. The biggest disappointment of the entire series was how Hannaford handled Gabi's mom learning about all of this.
The bulk of the plot is dedicated to wrapping up the plots we had left. Namely, Julius' (vampire) brother Caspian and the kidnapping of Mariska, the dark mage. The dark mage that is currently pregnant with twin, maybe-dhampir mage babies who are light and dark. It is incredibly interesting what actually ends up going on with this plotline, with the end of the book and the end of the series attached to them. I wasn't expecting what happened. Kind of disappointed, but that is for personal reasons.
I'm going to miss Gabi, and I'm going to miss Julius. I look forward to looking again in a few years to see if there is a spinoff or sequel series or something for me to read. And just hope they'll be the focus of it, because they're the best.
I was so disappointed by this conclusion. Everything felt so rushed to the point that we didn't even get to see most of the battle scenes, and we were told discussions had happened but never got to read them. It honestly felt like Hannaford was in a hurry to get this out the door so she could start in her next series, and completely forgot about all of us who've been huge fans of Hellcat for years.
There were barely any slow areas and kept my attention throughout the entire series. A bit of jumping around and story lines just ending without explanation but overall pretty darned great series.
Feeling a little let down by this last book. It seems a bit rushed and Gabi not wanting to be a Mom to a little dhamphir seems way out of character. Not much closure for anyone.
Gabi and Julius are co-leading the Special Investigations dept and still hunting for the betrayer vampire Caspian and his pregnant Dark Magus partner Mariska. An uneasy feeling of dread has fallen over the city as more demons seem intent on crossing the barrier, and the newly formed alliances placed in positions of security might not be ready to handle them yet. The degree of action and danger jump up a notch when someone very near to Gabi is compromised. It's now up to Gabi and those closest to her to deal with the situation, truces, alliances, secrets and traitors for once and all.
It is an absolute shame to see this series come to an end. I feel as though I have been with the characters through their successes and heartaches, their newfound confidence and their rejections; and loved every minute of it. I will miss our heroine, but perhaps now she can take some time off from saving the world and spend some quality time with Julius and Razor. I liked that we got a bit more of a glimpse into Gabi's family and how they have faced all that has happened. Many questions from the series were tied up, but true to Ms. Hannaford's style she leaves us with a little something, and we leave her with a cry of " and then?" The characters have stayed true to personality but grown in substance, and the plot has followed a logical progression. The writing is fluid and has matured throughout the series, and good editing makes it comfortable to read.
While some may feel that the book was tied up too neatly or quickly I thoroughly enjoyed it, and can't wait for the next series to make its appearance.
Once again Sharon Hannaford delivered an amazingly written book with a great ending. The book and series as a whole has been so much fun to read.
I love the friendly bantering between Kyle and Gabi. Their friendship has never wavered during this enter series. They have always had each others backs. And let's not forget Julius and Gabi, the love and respect that they have for one another is amazing. They truly shine when they are together and Hannaford writes their characters flawlessly, even Razor plays a very important part throughout this series.
I cannot wait to see what Sharon Hannaford has to show us next. Her writing is brilliant and this review does not even begin to do this series justice. It is a must read, pick it up for yourself and give into the world of Hellcat, Julius, Razor, Kyle, Fergus and the rest if the gang. It is a world you do want to stop reading about!
uuggghhhhh... Highly disappointing. This just left me more questions. With that kind of an ending, I'm expecting another series, most likely focused on Kyle's side after someone grows up...
I loved 'Hellcat Series" this book and all of the others in the series, I love a book that has a bit of everything in it and of course a strong female role is always my fav. Gabi was hardcore exciting and funny as well, I loved how much she cared and went out on a limb for the people she loved and also for the love of all her furry friends. Julius was strong, hot, dangerous and deadly. He was everything you would want in the lead male roll in a story. I could rave on forever but.. I won't lol .. Do yourself a great justice and read the whole series and share this great series with your friends and family .. it is that good ;) ps Can't leave out Razor he rocks!!!
This is the final book in the Hellcat series. I was disappointed. I was left with more questions and kinda let down by the end. The characters are there but there was a limited amount of interaction between Athena and the crew and Gabi and her brother from another mother. Then suddenly the jerks from book 5 are now friends in book 6. You had me invested in the series, until the last book.
Excellent end to the Hellcat Sextet. I was somewhat worried by some of the things that happened at the end of book 5, but this book assuaged my fears. From what the author has said, and some things set up in this book, there may be more books set in the Hellcat universe someday.
I enjoyed reading the book but it doesn't seem quite the ending for the series to me... feels like there should be another book for Gabi and Julius before new series of different main characters in the same world start...
Worthy series for all supernatural, fantasy and romantic novel readers. Sharon Hannaford has a winning series with Hellcat. Storytelling at it's highest praise from a advent read off supernatural storylines.
