Can comics and theology mix???...with a resounding Yes, it makes an impact of the kingdom kind.
I have followed Adam4d on facebook for awhile and his short comic can put most sermons to shame. You can check out his website here. http://adam4d.com/

He takes hard issues and makes a conversation. His book is a compilation of those conversations about Jesus, tolerance, abortion, marriage, sexuality, and the prosperity gospel and much much more. One of my favorites and maybe you can relate...Jesus takes Joel Osteen's advice. Joel's tweet..."Don't waste time with people who don't appreciate what you have to offer. The people around you should celebrate who you are." Jesus is on the cross and hearing Joel's advice-gets down from the cross. How we forget the gospel and make it about ourselves. When you see the gospel for what it truly is, you cannot be help but be humbled by it. That is what is transforming. You are not transformed by popularity, success, even good deeds but by what the Gospel is intended for. To bring you to the cross.

The thing is..The comics of Adam reflects the pain and the beauty of the cross. The condition of our hearts and the holiness of God. It offers something better and thru these comics, it opens our eyes to the truth of the gospel. That it is not centered on us but on what Christ did. Come and be part of the conversation of the Gospel.

A theology book with pictures!

Easy reading (of course) and theologically strong. In fact, this short book is chock full of solid theological teaching.

Adam hits on a lot of good points here, and I absolutely love that he's such a passionate Christian. However, as a Catholic, there were theological differences that sort of tripped me up while trying to enjoy this (Adam is Protestant). The one that bothered me the most was his comic on election, or the determination that only some will be saved and that those who will be saved have been chosen to be saved. While I can follow his logic, his theology is not sound and this particular passage left me irritated after reading.

While there is much common ground amongst the Christian denominations, I think this book would be more enjoyed by my Protestant brothers and sisters than my Catholic ones.

I don’t love comics or graphic novels generally. (I am impatient with the stunted story telling maybe.) As a result, this book took me forever to read. BUT, the author communicates theology, philosophy, and logic so well thru this medium. He shares his testimony with humility. I love his humor, but Adam Ford does not walk on eggshells when it comes to sharing the Truth of the Gospel. Definitely worth space on my library shelves.

Adam Ford combines wit, humor, satire, and sarcasm to explain simple, yet difficult subjects. Putting this information in comic book form makes it easier for unbelievers to read. Cartoons are less threatening without losing any of the power of the point.

Adam Ford's comics are really fun to read, especially for people deeply embedded in modern American Christianity and its unique culture. He brilliantly dissects its idiosyncrasies and the hot-button issues facing the church today with his characteristic pithy bluntness.

My only problem with this book is that my reading experience is encumbered by my own enthusiasm for the online version of the comic. That is to say, most of the comics I've read in here I've already enjoyed reading online. There's just not enough new stuff!

All told, I'd definitely recommend this little book to Christians who sigh in exasperation at the state of the American church. Trust me, Mr. Ford knows what you mean. He is, after all, an avowed theology nerd.

This second book of Adam Ford's work is just as clever, thought-provoking, insightful, and compassionately honest as "Implications Abound" was. He has a unique way of "speaking the truth in love" that can be a difficult balacing act. Yet he pulls it off every time. Read the book (or read the comics on the web for free). But do read them and be challenged, whether you're a skeptic or a life-long Christian, a shy introvert or an over-the-top activist. Adam weaves deep, challenging truth into every comic. That's a rare phenomenon worth checking out. Enjoy!

An entertaining and challenging read. I enjoy the Author's web comics, and found it worthwhile to have this "hard copy" of a selection of them. I don't always agree with the Author's point of view, but do appreciate his arguments, and the way he presents them.

Very worthwhile, and easy read that will hopefully make you think about many issues even if it doesn't change your mind :)

If you've been following the webcomic then there's nothing new here. The comics are a mix of theology and social commentary, and don't really make you laugh so much as they make you think. Some of the only decent Christian satire I've come across.

One of the best comic books I've ever read, hands down. I love Adam Ford's approach to things, and have read his webcomic for several years now. This book is well worth its money, and I plan on sharing it with my friends too. It's powerful, encouraging, and at some times quite humorous.
