My entire life fell apart once. It took everything I had to pull it back together, and drag the Jessica Carnes name out of the gutter.

And now he threatens to destroy all I’ve worked for—my sculpture, my rebuilt reputation, and my life. All I have is my art, and I’ll do anything to save it from his predatory hands.

Even if it means offering myself instead.

I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect with Destroy, but I am a huge fan of Nikki Sloane so I had to see what this was all about. As you have probably noticed this cover looks super familiar. If you are a fan of CD Reiss I am sure you have seen the covers to her Submission series. Destroyed is actually part of Kindle Words where fans/authors can add to series.

Destroy is Jessica’s story, Jonathan’s ex-wife. Her story isn’t one I thought I cared to know, but after reading it I was glad I did. This little novella starts off quick and doesn’t’ slow down. The story moved incredibly fast which I love, but left me wanting more. I wish I had felt more connection to the story, but that’s so hard to do when you are reading novellas. This book is definitely hot, but it also made me want more. Regardless, if you are a fan of the series I would definitely jump in!

This is the challenge, for me at least, when reading a short story. That it feels like I’m walking into the middle of the story…

See, the thing is I know what led Jessica to where she’s at now. This is the Jessica that I’ve come to dislike because of what she was and because of what she’s done to much beloved characters in that Drazen world that C.D. Reiss has created. So I was really curious what Nikki was gonna do with her.

I didn’t see much that would redeem Jessica in my eyes here. However, it’s important to acknowledge that this is a short story after all. I guess there wasn’t that much room for such things. And Alec, interestingly enough, I’m intrigued about him.

Let’s just say that if Nikki decides to turn this to a full story, I think I’ll be curious enough to read it. Because as much as there wasn't time for character development, I did feel the heat b/w these 2. I’d want to see how she can flesh out Jessica and find her redemption, see how that complex dynamics between her and Alec actually develops and turn out to whatever it should be, which in turn would allow me to see Alec as well in all of his dominant artist glory. Just sayin, Nikki…

Destroy was a quick and sexy novella in the Sordid world. It was very fast-paced and gives us the story of Nikita and Luke. I found their chemistry to be delicious and enjoyed Nikita's backstory. While I enjoyed it, I did find the story to be a little rushed as I would have enjoyed to see more of their interactions while working and seeing their bond and feelings develop. All in all though, this was an enjoyable read. 4 stars! ~Ratula

Whenever anyone asks me for a hot read, the first thing I thing of is the Songs of Submission series by CD Reiss. I mean, King Jonathan. Say no more.

So when I saw that Nikki was writing a book about Jessica, a woman I have come to hate, my interest was peaked. I love a good redemption story. And I was curious how true this author would stay to SoS.

Overall, I think she did a great job.
This book does have the same heat and sexual tension that SoS did.
I liked the story the author created for Jessica. It fit perfectly with what I knew and answered some questions.
And yes, I found myself liking Jessica in this short story. I even wanted more.

If you are a fan of SoS, this is a must read.

What a provocative little treat!

Looking at the cover of DESTROY by Nikki Sloane, your asking yourself, where do I know that from? That looks familiar. If you are a CD Reiss fan, and a fan of her Submission series, you will be wondering what the hell you missed. Don't worry, you didn't miss anything at all. Everything is what it seems. Destroy is part of Kindle Worlds, which is a fanfic forum for fans, by fans. This is where writers and fans alike, add their own take, their own characters and build on to the Drazen world. It's an amazing opportunity for new writers and established writers to tell readers their spin on this already AMAZING series!

Nikki Sloane's DESTROY, is the first fanfic I've read, and boy did she start it off with a bang, telling us the story of Jonathan's ex-wife Jessica. Although this was short, it was no less sexy and dark! I think a certain author would be damn proud!

You can feel the heat AND the hate brewing between Alex and Jessica. It's simmering...almost ready to explode. And when it does, it is INSANELY WICKED! Some would say Jessica got what she deserved...others would say...DAMN! She is a lucky girl!

This decadent delight will keep you on your toes the whole way through. VERY well done my friend...very well done indeed!

SPOILERS
I loved everything about this book. I didn’t like the character of Jessica Carnes very much in the Song of Submission series by C.D. Reiss. I found her to be too manipulative, conniving, and sexually vanilla but in this short story Jessica has met her match in Alec Rafferty. This was an interesting read to say the least. In a nutshull, Jessica gets destroyed and recreated.

Alec Rafferty is an Alpha male quite different from Jonathan Drazen. I swooned over Jonathan but not so much Alec. What I did appreciate about Alec was his directness although sometimes it made me SMH. I liked early on how Alec made reference to Jessica’s time in prison (ouch). Like I said no hold bars with this man. While their initial meeting was met with bumps in the road, you knew something was going to happen between the two.
I shivered with anticipation. I was Goldilocks. Jon had been too rough, and Erik too timid. Would Alec’s touch be just right?
Alec and Jessica had commonalities such as bad reputations they were trying to overcome in the art world. This commonality along with their love for art is what ultimately forged their union.
Alec was the perfect match for someone like me. His cage was so perfectly constructed.
Sometimes it just takes the right Alpha partner to destroy images of who people think you are or who you feel you should be for others to bring out your true essence. I felt Alec did this for Jessica.

I like the direction the author took Jessica’s character in because it’s a contradictory personality from the SOS Jessica and I found that more intriguing than anything else.
I couldn’t give Jonathan my submission and it drove us apart. Now I was worse than a submissive. I’d become a slave.
The Drazen World: Destroy was a page turner for me instantly. I felt Nikki Sloane did an awesome job elevating Jessica’s character from vanilla to slave. Who would have thought that possible? The Drazen World: Destroy gets 4.5 destroyed and recreated stars!

It was an ok read. I really shouldn't read novellas that aren't already part of the story. It's too hard to "sell" me. I loved the Creativity incorporated Jessica's art. I loved that Alec was just right for Goldilocks. I liked the one thing that made Jessica run from Jonathan, his dominance, just wasn't what she thought it was about. Other than that the story fell flat. Like I said it's probably my fault for trying another shorty. This author is awesome. The Drazen World is Awesome.

How I wish this was a full length novel. Never been interested in an exes story as much as Jessica's. Nikki Sloane pulled it off where I would've never guessed it was someone else writing it besides CD Reiss. Nice touch to the Submission Series.

Nikki, can you write me another one?

I am a shameless Nikki Sloane fangirl. She could rewrite the phonebook and I would be clamoring to read it. When I found out she was tackling CD Reiss's Song of Submissions series now that it is a part of Kindle Worlds, I could barely contain my excitement. While you can go into this deliciously sexy short read without having read that series, it is likely you will have a pressing need to seek it out once you're done so you can fill in all the complicated backstory hinted at in Destroy.

Destroy continues the story of Jessica, Jonathan's ex-wife. I'll admit I wasn't a huge fan of her going into this, but I wasn't too worried since I knew Sloane would be able to get me invested in her story. Jessica is currently trying to rebuild her life and reputation as an artist after being convicted of murder. She has endured many things in the last several years, but she refuses to allow her work to be destroyed by Alex. He is also an artist and has his own special brand of infamy. Jessica knows he is a monster and she'd rather destroy her sculpture herself than let it fall into his hands.

Her convictions however put her in a precarious situation since she is on probation and he has the power and knowledge thanks to her vandalism to send her back to jail. She can't go back. Left with no other options, she is forced to collaborate with Alex and reinvent her sculpture. Once Alex has her at his mercy, how far will he go? Will be prove to be the monster she is convinced he is or will he be the savior she has been looking for all this time?

This story was short, but was so well done. Nikki Sloane really shined here. She managed to give us two extremely interesting and damaged characters and told a detailed story with a lot of tension (both sexually and plot wise). I enjoyed reading Destroy tremendously and highly recommend it. I loved the ending. As you read you'll most definitely be asking yourself if Jessica gets a happily ever after or if she has finally gotten the just desserts she deserves.

"Say yes, Nikita," he murmured. "I own you no matter what answer you give me."

I loved this quick, sexy novella by Nikki Sloane. Sordid and Torrid are two of my top favorite mafia stories and I loved being back in that world. Nikita and Luke's story was dark and gritty and featured two characters who were far from perfect. Sloane is a terrific writer and she made this short story somehow feel like a complete story. My favorite parts were the flashback scenes, and I especially loved briefly seeing Vasilije and Oksana again. The chemistry between Luke and Nikita was intense and really well written. The intimate scene that served as the focal point of the story was scorching hot. I really enjoyed the push-pull aspect of their relationship, and the fact that things were far from warm and fuzzy between them made it even better.

"You're a monster."

"That's too small a word to use for me."

The story was told through Nikita's POV and flowed really well. I would have loved to get even a small glimpse from Luke's perspective. Overall this was a really enjoyable story that I finished in one sitting. I really hope that Sloane has more books planned for this series, and I still have my fingers crossed that Oksana's brother will get his own story.

Songs of Submission is one of my favorite series, and to have one of my favorite authors write IN the Drazen World is amazing. Fantastic story about Jessica from the Drazen World. My only nit - it's too short! As a reader and lover of CD Reiss and Nikki Sloane, I'm greedy, I want more.

I hated Jessica in SoS, could I like Jessica in Destroy? Yes, Nikki Sloane gave us a story about Jessica that makes you want to know more about her. And in true Nikki Sloane fashion, it's hot. Alec and Jessica - I want to know more about their relationship.

To read an author write in another author's world is amazing. To have an author do it perfectly, like this, is fantastically amazing.

Seriously? This is the quickest novella I've ever read because I don't know what's the plot. Or there is none? Nikita is a troubled artist who didn't want the client to have her art. She destroyed it and now Nikita must pay the price. There's a quickie sex that I found NOT HOT AT ALL. I'm really confused until the end of story. Like... What?

An insanely good short in the new Drazen World series (characters from author C.D. Reiss).

This story centers on Jessica Carnes, ex-wife (and ex-convict) of Jonathan Drazen. She has served her time, and is attempting to get back on top in the art world. Her latest sculpture - which she considers her true masterpiece - is finally purchased. Unfortunately, it is purchased by a man whose reputation in the art world is a bit on the unsavory side. And she finds herself attracted to him, and willing to do almost anything he wants in order to keep her art from being destroyed.

This is my first Nikki Sloane, and the writing is top notch. I was just as enthralled in this story as I have been in the other Drazen books; and that is saying a lot because Jessica was not a very well loved character in the series. The chemistry was seriously palpable, and I kept catching myself holding my breath, waiting to see what would transpire.

My only complaint. Too short. I wanted MORE. To know more about both of them, and how they came to be where they were at the end of the story.

Either way, I seriously loved and enjoyed this author's writing style. Just wonderful.

Reading Destroy by Nikki Sloane I didn't really know what to expect. The only thing I knew for sure was that it would be hot and of course it was all of Nikki's books are. I have read all of the Song of Submission series but it had been so long that I could have used a refresh. Without even thinking of them I must say I still enjoyed this little book of wonder and it left me wanting the whole story. It left me wanting more and I guess that's what you want from a good book. However it was very quick and I felt I needed to know the whole backstory, so now I'm left with how to rate this book that seems to have me puzzled. The more I sit here and think about how I'm feeling, I think I just realized how much I truly did like it. I want to read more and even go back and read again and even hope that I get more to this story. I don't know if a book has ever left me with some many question. Thanks Nikki Sloane for putting this little nugget into my life. I hope to get all my questions one day answered. I was given this ARC for my honest opinion.

A super quick read that whilst it was good read, it wasn’t everything I thought it could be. I couldn’t help but think that the story seemed to be slightly hurried.
I liked Nikita she was a good character, she may have initially been a Russian mail order bride, shackled through her marriage to a man that she desperately despised, but now that her mafioso husband was dead she was finally free to be the woman she wanted to be and to explore her art.
She loved her sculptures and when fellow artist Luke Rafferty, purchased the one piece that she loved more than all the others, it didn’t take long to realise that there was a situation brewing that neither of them was prepared to back down from.
I would have liked to have gotten to know a little more about Luke, the story seemed to concentrate more on Nikita but that being said when the two of them did get their act together they were totally combustible.
If you have read the other books in the series then I am sure you will enjoy this, it was a good read, but I think it had the potential to have been great.

Destroy was a fast but a scorching hot read! Again, Nikki Sloane had intrigued me from page one, and I didn’t put the book down until I finished.
Normally, I don’t like to read novellas because they are so short, and that’s still true, but I couldn’t stop myself from devouring Destroy. It was packed with heat, and it reminded me of why I love the Sordid Series. I highly recommend picking this one up, especially if you’re looking for something fast, but yet will leave you wanting more.

One Quick, dirty novella

Nikki Sloane always delivers on any of her books. She always has characters that are more alpha than not. This novella doesn’t disappoint with the novella that goes with the sordid series. It’s mafia and dark romance all mixed in one delightful little treat.

I really loved this story. It is a quick, dirty novella of Luke and Nikita. I enjoyed this read very much and look forward to what is in store! The both connect with her first piece of art, and that is just the beginning of their story. They have hot steamy parts that turn into so much more.

It’s a story of revenge. She is a wife scorned by her deceased husband. She is blamed for something that she didn’t do. She is trying to get her name out in the art world. Luke enters the picture and how things change. Their story starts with a sculpture and ends with everything they could ever want.

I was provided with an ARC and this is my own personal review on this book.

If you have read the Song of Submission series that you should read this one. I was a quick book that gives a little more about Jessica.

Jessica was a well know artist, who when to prison for murder. She is fighting to get her name and reputation back, but at what cost.

Alex is also a well know artist, but for other reasons. He’s name is associated with destruction and demise. He is a monster, and he will get whatever he wants.

This was a faced paced, great little book. I would love for it to be more, but I will take what I can get.

I loved Destroy by Nikki Sloane. When I read the blurb I was chomping at the bit to read this fanfic based on a series that I absolutely love, (Songs of) Submission by CD Reiss. I wanted a most despicable character, Jessica, Jonathan's evil ex-wife to be destroyed.

Instead what I believe the author highlighted was Jessica's vulnerability when it came to protecting her artistic creations. Her latest and greatest work was sold to an equally despicable character, Alec Rafferty, known in the art world as an art buyer only to destroy/remake works of art much to the artists dismay. When he buys Jessica's piece, she does everything she can to meet Alec head on in a battle of wills. I loved seeing this side of Jessica.

Because this short novella was so well written and held my interest, I'm rating it 5 stars!

Destroy is the 8th and final book (well, novella) in a series set in a Kindle World - the Drazen World created by C.D. Reiss.
This is my first venture into a kindle wold.

First, let me get my biases out in the open:
1. I am not generally a fan of novellas; they feel incomplete to me.
2. I really do not do well reading a series out of order, so coming in on the last book in the series is very difficult for me.

The book is about Jessica Carnes, from C.D. Reiss' Song of Submission series, and Alec Rafferty. I wasn't completely sure what the back story was about, but I was able to follow the general story line. I think Nikki Sloane did a good job writing characters created by other authors. I just needed a little more story to go along with the hot sex.

I read this novella when it came out as part of the Drazen world and was super excited to read the update. Have you read Sordid and Torrid? You'll want to after getting a little taste of their world in Destroy.

Novellas are a difficult little beast - the author needs to give you enough character and story to make a solid read. Nikki Sloane has done it with Destroy - we have character traits AND background, we get a solid story (and open enough to have more? maybe? in the future??).

Destroy is Nikita and Luke's story, I do hope we see them again! They have incredible scenes that are woo - SO good. They're artists and the descriptions of their pieces was so good, I hoped to see them in a real exhibit!

I mentioned Sordid & Torrid. If you haven't read these, please do! If you have, you'll enjoy seeing a couple characters from the series. Another Nikki Sloane HIT!

Oh what cha gonna do with Jessica! The character us CD Reiss, Songs of Submission fans, love to hate! In this Drazen World novella, we get a take on how Jessica tries to put her life back together after Jonathan.

When she finds out her prize sculpture has been purchased by a known art leach, she does everything she can to try to destroy it. Rather death by her hand than be bastardized by none other than Alec Rafferty.

Gallery owner Maritza is the only one left that will give Jessica a chance and either her career is over, or she accompanies the piece to Rafferty's where she will ensure its safe delivery and repair any damage she may have caused.

And then the fun begins.

Another fun piece of fan-fic in The World of Drazen!

This is story is insanely wicked! I loved it! If you are a fan of the Songs of Submission series then you're going to love this fanfic, A Drazen World Novella! It's Jessica's story, Jonathan's ex-wife.

Jessica now released on parole has her art work sold to a Fraud. An artist accused of stealing the art work of other artists, revamping and claiming it as his own, now owns Jessica's sculpture. In a haste move Jessica tries to destroy her sculpture the artist, Alec Rafferty, has purchased. Alec isn't happy and has other plan for Jessica.

Jessica gets what she finally deserves! Don't miss this Drazen tale. 5 Stars!

I enjoyed this story so very much! If you are familiar with CD Reiss' submission series you will know all about Jessica, Jonathan's ex wife.
She was never a fav character of mine but Nikki Sloane still had me glued to the kindle to read what happened to her after jail.
Alec..I am very very intrigued by this character and I really hope to get more of him.
It was interesting and hot and very very apt!
I found Jessica and Alec's relationship ironic and if you love submission series you'll understand why.
Very very happy with this fan fiction and I will be begging for more ;)

I am a huge fan of CD's and the Drazen world she created. I was excited to hear that Nikki was diving into that world and writing Jess' story. Hers is a story of personal redemption. Have to tell you that she resembled evil when it came to her ex Jonathan and I wanted to see what she would do with her life after getting out of jail. She goes back to what she loves - her art. Her latest sculpture is her masterpiece and catches the eye of a shady man. There is so much heat between Alex and Jessica. Serious sizzle. I loved every bit of it.

I give Destroy 4 hearts!
