The Release: Golf's Moment of Truth

Rate this book
Too much of what we hear of golf instruction is either way too simple or way too complex. It s either just another tip or the instruction is so clouded in scientific language that you need an advanced degree to understand it. This book will completely explain club delivery and will teach you there are two very opposite ways to do it. Both are in the Hall of Fame and you ll learn which release belongs in your game and how to correctly execute it. In his fourth and latest book, The Golf's Moment of Truth, Jim Hardy tackles the most critical part of the golf swing. His simple, clear explanations of the two types of releases in the golf swing (RIT and LOP) will be sure to help everyone determine what is best for their swing and instantly hit the next ball better. Jim's clear explanations using photos and simple terminology promises that you won't be bogged down with language you don't understand, or information that doesn't easily relate to results. Everyone wants results and the clearer the information is communicated to you the sooner the results are achieved.

If you are like me and like reading lots of golf books, I am sure at some point you get confused from many "tips" that apparently contradict one another - open up the club face vs do not open up the club face, swing outside vs. swing inside. The most wonderful thing about this book is that it clearly shows there are two separate and distinct methods of releasing the golf club properly, and mixing up the two techniques usually leads to bad things. No wonder my game sucked - for example, my golf swing mechanics is probably a "Left-Arm Outward Pull (LOP)" - but I have committed the sin of interlacing it with swing thoughts and tips borrowed from the "Right-Arm Inward Throw" method, without realizing they are fundamentally incompatible. Now that I have read the book, everything is clear (I think). Whether I can execute is a different matter, but at least I think I can now at least visualize what exactly it is that I am trying to do at the impact zone, and the sequence to get to that release point.

The Missing Link

After reading Hardy's previous Plane Truth books, without gaining a complete understanding of the two opposing methods, this clarifies their respective operational practise for me. In other words, if this instructional lesson was included in the previous editions, they would have been better and complete. No doubt golf instruction is evolving for the better.

Essential knowledge for one and two plane swingers

Best description of finishing the golf swing I have read. Made an immediate difference in my contact and ball flight. If you are a Jim Hardy fan, you must read this book.

The missing link!

Thank you Jim Hardy, I have 2 of your previous books and this is truly the missing link that has shaped my One Plane Swing. Now hitting very consistant shots with a repeatable swing......like poetry in motion :-)

Jim Hardy

Jim has helped me understand the golf swing better than anyone else over the past 35 years. I would highly recommend this book and all his others.

Too technical

This book was way too technical for me. I just skimmed it and didn't really read it. I thought it would be simple, but no such luck.
