To the little-known Delphi Agenda, working, as always, for peace and harmony, he’s not only a prodigy, he’s a prophet with the potential to become more powerful even than Lisa Emmer, the current Delphic Oracle. Perhaps even the power to save the world from humanity’s dumpster fire.
But to a few others who understand how enormous his powers are, he’s a pawn they could put to their own use.
So everyone wants a piece of him. Kidnapping is not off the table.
In fact, it’s pretty likely. He and Lisa, his mentor, can see that coming a mile away. A crooked Cardinal has his own ideas and Python, a pharmaceutical company run by a pair of sketchy twins, needs him for their own “world-changing” project. Then there’s the fanatical cult that first predicted his birth. They want him back.
The Delphi Agenda’s job is to keep him safe. But does he really need them? Half the fun's watching his innocent brilliance effortlessly deflate the kind of twisted, power-hungry villains that threaten the Agenda and its ideals.
Fans of intrepid women sleuths will love Lisa Emmer, as well as anyone smitten with the romance of the ancient world, action-adventure in historical fiction, and thriller conspiracies.
But this thoroughly modern tale of historical sleuthing has a little something for everybody: a high-tech invention that dances on the edges of sci-fi, excursions to various historical locales in Europe to delight armchair travelers, and a literary trail of crumbs to charm puzzle lovers.
In addition, author Swigart offers a wonderfully hopeful worldview that will intrigue not only mystery readers, but devotees of Merlin Sheldrake, Michael Pollan, and the world of fantastic fungi.
A great mystery series with tons of historical references mixed with a lot of supposition.
The series is pretty good. I love the historical references mixed with supposition. The elements of mystery, action, and suspense keep a reader's attention. The book delves into the Catholic church and its smaller branches of followers in different sects. Lisa Elmer finds herself immersed in a murder of her best friend and mentor. The police suspect her. A religious sect wants to kill her. Friends loyal to her mentor want to help her. Lisa has a huge mystery to solve and the revelations of her own life will surprise her and the reader. In the second book she must save an unborn child from sacrifice.
When I began reading the first volume (Delphi Agenda) it seemed to me somewhat reminiscent of Dan Brown’s DaVinci Code. Before long, however, a paranormal element emerged and became the focus, with the main character accepting her role as a modern day Oracle at Delphi. While it was a fast read, it did not grab me, and the characters seemed like cardboard cut-outs with no real depth. I did read the second one which added a secret pagan quasi-religion awaiting its prophesied golden child, precursor to a new world. Its members wore the black hats and sparred with the main characters wearing the white hats. I cannot think of anyone to whom I would recommend these books.
This was an enjoyable read that reminds one very much of The Da Vinci Code . The plot suffered a little from there being a little to much emphasis on the historical / mythological references . I am not a scholar of Greek mythology , do appreciate the authors obvious knowledge but think this aspect of the book was a little overdone . I felt that there was some confusion in the final chapters but overall this is a good tale , well worth reading . I am looking forward to reading more by this author . This review is only for the Delphi Agenda as I haven't read the second volume yet .
I barely made it through volume 1 of the 2 book set. This volume, and I suspect much of the same will be in volume 2 was just too dry. Instead of focusing more or characters, or scene settings, the author gets wrapped up in giving the names of streets and places, and way too much depth in history. I guess it goes to your own personal taste. It just wasn’t for me.
This action thriller has a couple of strangers who are brought together by an unusual death. In attempting to understand the murder they become targets themselves. Events reveal philosophical world views that are opposed to each other but are both in danger of being eliminated from the earth. The tension keeps the reader enthralled until the conclusion.
Great storytelling. The characters are believable and well thought out. These are different from most archeological/historical/mythical/mystery books. They really transcend genre and combine all of the above. These are intelligently written books and do not "dumb down" like so much fiction does. Thank you Mr Swigart!
I enjoyed this book. I like learning historical facts when they are wound into the plot of the book. The main character, Lisa, is a very strong, intuitive woman who has accepted her position in life. She lives her life fully and has great chemistry with her staff. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an interesting “soft” read.
Wow, intrigue, suspense, a secret Order of the Church pitted against a "heresy"; this book has it all. Wonderfully woven throughout are legends and history. Great read.
A really good read. It held my interest to the end. Can't wait to read the next instalment. I found it a bit gory in some of the action but no unsavoury language.
This is a very interesting story, the author had to have done a lot of research to write it. All of the characters are great they are very well defined. The storyline is great, not only does it hold your attention but it also leaves you questioning all things. Great Read for all who are seeking something.
