When a client claims that her dead husband is trying to kill her, Morgan Summers' new job as a paranormal detective takes off with a bang. As she dives headfirst into a dangerous case with a handsome new partner, Morgan is forced to dig deeper into her own family's past. Can she solve the case or will she only unearth more mysteries?
Alexandria Clarke is a writer, cat lover, and all-around optimist. She loves to immerse her readers in mystery and intrigue, meaningful friendships, and the worlds of characters who learn by doing. When she's not writing, Alex enjoys playing guitar, watching Wynonna Earp, and spending time with her family. She currently lives in Orlando, Florida with her partner and their four pets.
It is a very short book and just about the time you really get into it .. It ends, abruptly!! I would have really liked to read more but now I feel like I read half the story and the other half is missing.
Arrgghh! Cliffhanger! Noooooo. Where the next book?? I need the next book!
Entertaining read, obviously. And I care enough about the characters to be frustrated by the cliffhanger. It had a good setup and the premise is strong. The plot is definitely grabby. I don't see any more books after this on Amazon - just a Book 0. I also don't see where the author has a website so I can't tell when the next book will be out. Which is kind of frustrating. Patience is not my strong suit.
Oh, one last thing. This is billed as a 'cozy mystery'. I totally wouldn't call it that. It's got some dark bits and it's paranormal, so I'd think of it more as a paranormal mystery - so cozy mystery addicts don't get shocked.
I'm hoping that Alexandria Clark comes out with the sequel soon. This book is short read but perfect for someone -like me - who hasn't read books for entertainment for several years. I love the bridge between fantasy fiction and murder mystery in these books.
Loved the book. As soon as I read Morgan had joined the police force, I was happy! Then when I read she was getting a partner, I already knew what was going to happen based a the previous book. Overall the book is good. But I hate that there is a cliff hanger. Well, my opinion of a cliff hanger.
Witch Myth: A Yew Hollow cosy Mystery Book 1 A sequel that keeps you entertained. Reading in chronological order is not necessary but advantageous. This not cosy!
The Protagonist: Morgan Summers is a witch who can see ghosts. She is now a paranormal detective in the police force. She is a combination of feisty, funny and furious. Morgan lives in Yew Hollow, the ancestral home of her coven.
The Plot: When a battered wife is threatened by the ghost of her ex-husband, Morgan is called in to be convinced, confirm and investigate. She also has a new detective partner, Dominic, to persuade of ghostly doings, but things are not what they seem when a devoted warlock is involved.
Now here is a sequel to keep you entertained, ending with a cliff-hanger. No prize for guessing my next book. The characters are interesting and vigorous. The plot and sub-plots keep the mind racing. The writing seems effortless, and along with the vivid scene setting, this is a page-turner.
A short page turner. I do feel cheated when a book is less than 100 pages and ends with a cliff-hanger.
It is a fast-paced, absorbing read. It does contain humour but I would not categorise this story as cosy because it is grim, menacing and the violence is too graphic for a cosy. Recommended but not at bedtime because it is hard to put the book down.
Sexual Content: U Language: 12 Violent: 16 Would I read the next one or reread ?: Yes
My rating system (* = star) 0* Could not finish this book (waste of time) 1* Finished the book but didn't like it. 2* Finished the book it was okay. 3* A good read worth your time. 4* An excellent read often with a novel concept or unusual plot. 5* A magnificent read. A prominent example of the genre.
Morgan Summers is back in Yew Hollow for less than an hour and already stumbles across a murder. It looks like black magic has befallen a beloved resident and because she found the body, Morgan becomes the main suspect. Because of her special power of seeing the dead, Morgan finds herself helping the wandering soul cross over, but not before she finds herself trapped in the otherworld. Can she make it back alive and save the Summers coven before an evil presence destroys Yew Hollow?
This is a bit more than your average cozy mystery as there is a paranormal element added including good vs. bad entities and different dimensions including the otheworld/afterlife. If you love intrigue, mystery, suspense, adventure, and lots of paranormal elements, then you will want to add this book to your “to read” pile.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the second book in the second trilogy about the witches of Yew Hollow. Once again it is a very enjoyable read, with an exciting cliffhanger. In this trilogy Morgan Summers, a witch who recently returned to Yew Hollow, gets a job on the police force investigating special cases. To help her, another new detective who is not capable of dealing with the supernatural, is assigned to be her partner. Morgan's mother,a premiere witch of witches, assigns Morgan the job of helping a 16 year old witch come to grips with her powers. The first case that the two detectives handle concerns a ghost who is attempting to kill his widow. But then.......no spoilers! My only complaint with this series is that the three novellas that comprise each trilogy could each as easily been a single novel!
Morgan has become a paranormal detective for the police department. She finds herself struggling to believe the victim of a ghostly attack. Morgan hasn't ever come across ghosts who are able to physically touch or harm anyone. So when the victim tells her that a ghost attacked her and burnt her house down. She tries to make sense out of the attack by discounting the victims story. She gets a partner a male detective whom she is slightly attracted to. Sparks fly every which way in this book. Things happen that shouldn't happen. Now I'm going to start reading the third book because I'm hooked.
Morgan Summers is back! Except now, after solving the last murder, she is a paranormal police detective.
She’s working on a new, unusual case. A former abused wife claims that she is being stalked by her dead husband. She says that he’s still trying to kill her. Is this lady really being haunted or is she just crazy?
I love the Summer witches and how they each add a biting wit to the story!
Fun and inquisitive! Witty and hilarious! I love Morgan!
The only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars was the annoying cliffhanger in the end. But, I guess that just means I have to get the next installment in the series.
"Witch Myth: A Yew Hollow Cozy Mystery- Book 1" was written by Alexandria Clarke. Morgan Summers is from a witch family living in Yew Hollow. As one of four sisters, she has taken it upon herself to become a paranormal investigator. On her first day on the job, she meets a handsome detective while investigating a poltergeist-like assurance with the widow of a man who recently died. Overall, this storyline was well written. The concept was fairly original, but a bit darker than I expected due to the fun cartoon character on the cover.
Wow. I mean, like, the prequel was good? Most of the complaints I had about that were along the lines of personal taste, but this...
This was bad.
From fat-shaming, to victim blaming, to some of the most bizarre character reactions I've ever read, this was just painful to read. If this had been the first book I read, I would have deleted it and made a note to never touch this series again. I don't know what went so wrong, but sweet lord it did.
Oil read the prequel first and really enjoyed it. I was glad to next read this. However, it ended way too abruptly and the ending felt like a copout. One minute, the heroine is up to her neck in trouble. The reader expects a way out for her with success against the evil she is battling. The next paragraph? Pig. Story over.
This was a fun short read. I enjoyed the story. I thought the relationship between her and Dominic was a bit fast. I didn't see any of it coming I was a bit shocked and thought someone else was behind the dead thing. Then the author just ends it like that! Definitely gets people wanting to read more.
This book grabs you from the start and doesn't let go till the very end. I did enjoy the book, but was not expecting it to end the way it did. The characters are a coven of witches, a crazed warlock, and nasty ghosts. There is some humor, some mystery, I just don't know what to make of it. I know I will be reading the next book in this series.
I'm reading this book as the set, so breaking it down into the individual books. I really like this series, though I wouldn't say they are cozy mysteries. There are some really dark and a little gory things in these books. Just as a warning...and yes, despite what I just said, I'm really enjoying this series!
Ghosts turned into killers - how is that possible?
Another great short read but the story continues in the next book. A ghost is trying to kill his wife. Can this be possible? With the aid of the new detective in town she sets out to find the truth? Will the answer be worth the price? A great little read that propels you into the next book for the continuation of the story.
Accidentally found this series and I absolutely love it. Following the Summers clan and the situations they find themselves in is definitely addictive! Try it you will like it
Loved story but the ending even wit all the power it contained is only a come on to another book. I am sorry it was constructed this way as it was a wonderful and well written story.
I was hooked from the very beginning. It kept me on my toes trying to figure it out. If you like a great wholesome story I strongly suggest this book to you. I loved it.
Another great read about the Summers family of witches Morgan Summers in particular, now she is a paranormal detective its her job to find out what's happening to the ghosts in town, great read
I don't mind series if each book is stand-alone. However, I hate books that have a cliff-hanging ending. If I want to know what happened, I have to read the next book.
great fast paced read. The characters and plot are believable. I hate cliffhangers, but this book does leave you at a major cliff that will make sure you get the next book in the series.
3.5-3.75 -- The "fun" thing about mysteries is trying to figure out who the "baddie" is, along with the protagonist. Having it revealed early, without any real "investigation" leaves things a little empty. Admittingly, I'm disappointed by that. Was hoping for more intrigue.

Delightful Morgan diving into a paranormal case he is dead and attempting a murder. Is it true, what the wife of the deceased is saying. Handsome new partner, and digging comes up with her past, how are they connected. Enjoyed the narration was good.
Again, im annoyed with the sterotypical depection of magic. But the book was fairly short so easy to quickly read and the characters werent horrible. Throwing 's*it' around also annoyed me.
