He's the loveable, cheeky larrikin with a heart of pure gold. He's the size of a bear and we aren't talking about the cuddly type. Just one look into his ocean blue eyes, will make you want to combust. He is Jacob Walters.

You are either going to love her or hate, but no matter which column you choose to place her in, she won't care. She is feisty, temperamental and a little bit stubborn. She is Lola McIntosh.

This is not your typical love story.

Jump in and hold on tight, while you enjoy the emotionally gripping and life altering story of epic proportions.

If you haven't already fallen in love with Jacob from the books 'Perception of Life' and 'Reality of Life', I think this next instalment in the 'Perception' series will have you falling head over heels in love.

This book can be read as a standalone, but it is highly recommended to be read after the first two books in the 'Perception' series.

Fight of Life (Perception #3)
Shandi Boyes

Fight of Life Shandi Boyes third book in her Perception series. This book is about Jacob and Lola. Not about love at first site and all the romance, the first two books had.
Lola meets Jacob by chance. He is not her usual type of guy that she is attracted to, but she finds a great quality that she wants more of. Lola is afraid to hurt Jacob. However, she cannot stop thinking about him, and her feelings when she is around him. Things change when Lola’s ex-boyfriend and his brother show back up into Lola’s life. Will she be able to keep Jacob in the “friends” zone, and keep her e-boyfriend and his bother at a distance so Jacob does not get hurt?
Jacob see’s Lola at the bus stop and his imagination starts getting the best of his body. For Jacob it was lust at first site, but as time goes on he can’t stay in the “friends” zone Lola is determined to keep him in. When Jacob finds out about Lola’s past with her ex-boyfriend, he cannot control his temper. When his fight career takes a different turn, he enjoys it. When the only fighter he lost to know Lola, he is determined to beat this guy with an inch of his life. Can Jacob get the fight and the girl he wants?
I gave this book a 4 starts rating, this one was more relatable to me. Lola guards herself and no matter how many mixed signals she gives Jacob, he understands and tries to make her happy. At times, I did not understand so I had to reread, but overall I really liked this book.

I loved Lola and Jacob! He was such a big ole teddy bear. He fell in love with Lola from the first time he met her. Jacob is the total package. He has the looks, body, devotion to his best friend, Noah , and his other family of friends. He and Noah are like brothers. Noah married Lola 's sister Emily. Noah loves Lola with all his heart.

This book deals with Lola and Jacob realizing that they are meant to be together. There are lots of twists and turns for them to find their HEA. Sweet romance book!

I love big men and I love big hands. So I was already half in love with Jacob during the previous two books. And I was not disappointed! I adore Jacob, that big mountain of a man with the big soft heart.
I can't say I was equally enamored with Lola until the very end of the book.
Half way through I was ready for Jacob to kick her to the curb and get a more deserving love.
Colour me surprised when I found myself in her corner toward the finish.
Once again an exceptional story that had me hook, line and sinker.
You will want to read this series in order and you won't be disappointed.

Shandy Boyes does it again

From reading books 1 & 2 in the Perception series I thought I knew how this book would go. I was totally wrong. Even though we learn so much about both Jacob and Lola in the previous books, this book goes way more in depth about them, about their relationship, about their lives and even about things that haven't really been mentioned yet. I'm so glad that I decided to read this.
I can't wait to see how Nicks story goes.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I knew I would love Jacob and Lola’s story. This series is turning out to be one of my favorites. I love all of the characters but Jacob and Lola deserve so much love. Jacob knew from the start that Lola was the one. Lola knew also but just couldn’t admit it and was so so stubborn about it. I loved the added drama with Rachel and Callum. It gave the story more of an edge.

Lots of repeats

If you read Noah's story first, then your going to be re-reading the story with a different pov. I liked it, but I would have liked more new dialog then something I've already read. I personally think Jacobs too good for Lola and deserves someone that loved him from the start.

Good

The first two books were interesting.. The characters were well developed and fun. The plot was surprising and kept you guessing but however, the third one was just way too repetitious. Other than a little more about Jacob and Lola it was a rehash. The end was not even a big surprise , knowing what kind of scum the brothers were. Bummed me out

Great book

How could you not love Jacob? He's so freaking adorable and puts up with a lot from Lola. I know she a strong character and she's been through a lot, but she wasn't my favorite. The love story though, now that was amazing.

Jacob and Lola's love story is a roller coaster ride. She is stubborn and only wants to be friends. Jacob will take anything she is offering. After Lola finally comes to terms with her love for Jacob does their romance blossom. She will forever be his tease.

I just loved Jacob! And of course along with Lola. I think if anyone would come across a guy like Jacob, they would go wild if he even looked their way. Shandi Boyes creates characters that you laugh and cry with. Also plenty of Steamy scenes!

Another great read. I love Lola's sassy confident personality and Jacob's quieter strong reliable one. What a great match. It's entertaining to read about them. I love their chemistry and their hot scenes too.
I'll definitely want to read more about all these characters.

5 Stars

Fight of Life is centered around Jacob and Lola.

Jacob and Lola first meet when she is at the bus stop having missed the bus home by ten minutes. Jacob is at the traffic lights waiting for it to change green when he sees her sitting there. He calls out to see if she would like a lift home. Finally deciding she has no other way of getting home accepts the offer. It's not until they get to the next stop light that they introduce themselves to each other. Instead of going home first they ended up at Bronte’s Peak where they had sex which surprised Jacob since they had only met ten minutes before. Finally getting her home Jacob yells out to Lola to see if she wanted to catch up again. She tells him to pick her up Friday but it’s not a date.

Jacob would like something permanent with Lola but she tells him friends only. Jacob decides this is better than nothing with her. But also questions how long can they be friends for? Jacob has been fighting in with the UFC, hw has been trained by Hank who has trained other UFC fighters. Jacob wonders why Lola flinches when he makes sudden movements. She eventually tells him her ex boyfriend Callum is a drug user and has physically abused her in the past. This makes Jacob furious how dare he put his hands on any woman.

Jacob and Noah find out where Callum lives and Jacob decides he is going to make him pay for ever putting his hands on Lola. The event that lead to this anger was Callum leaving bruises around Lolas neck and wrists after he had attacked her at Mavericks. Jacob gives Callum a beating he will never forget. This leads Jacob being charged and going to court. As a result he is placed on a twelve month probation which in turn ends his UFC career.

Noah has had a bad traffic accident that has left him in a coma for three months. A photographer finds out where Noah is and tries to get a photo. With one week left on probation jacob gets angry and hits the photographer. This gets him into even more trouble and this time he is facing jail time. Lola and Hank came up with a plan and visit with Callum.

Lola tells Callum unless he tells the police Jacob hit him in self defence she would go to the police and press charges against him. Callum agrees to this and lucky for Jacob the previous charges were dropped and now he only got a six month probation period and community service work. Once this six month probation period is over Jacob can go back to his UFC fighting because of a loophole he and Hank found.

Finally Lola tells Jacob she loves him even though she thinks he won't remember her saying it because he was so drunk at Noah and Emily's wedding. Bad luck for her as Jacob did remember and now is asking her to repeat what she said. When she tells him she loves him, he is so happy. And decides he is going to marry this woman before she changes her mind.

Title & Author: Fight Of Life (Book 3 of Perception) By Shandi Boyes
Writing: Great
Violence: Some
Sex: None

Okay I’m just going to say right off the bat that I love the fact that Shandi Boyes, bring the book all the way back to beginning of this series and show it from Lola and Jacob point of view. This is very helpful.

Since in the beginning of the series to the second book, it did not really show Lola all that much. She was not really a main character in the book. But a minor character, and now that we get to read what she was doing while her sister and Noah, was busy getting to know one another. But we also get a more in depth of her and Jacob relationship.

I was very surprise to read what I read in this book concerning Lola. At first I thought she was just playing hard to get. But she really does have her own demons to deal with. So instead of dragging those around her down with her, she puts off an aura that says stay away.

Of course Jacob doesn’t allow that to stop him from pursing her and this made me love him even more. I love the fact that Jacob is a lover but also a fighter, he’s just like a big teddy bear, until you leave him no other choice but to do something.

I found myself getting very upset with both Lola and Jacob, but more so Jacob. I didn’t think that Lola was being fair to Jacob, but once I find out the reason why she being the way she is, I become more understanding. But still at the same time I think she could’ve handle that differently. But being the person she is, I can understand why she did what she has done.

I got very upset with Jacob, because it seems like for a while that he and the doctor Rachel would’ve been something. No, this was not okay with me since he knows that he loves Lola with all his heart, and also know what she’s been though and he still does these thing. But because he was upset with her, he flirted with other woman, and got close to Rachel, enough that she fell for him. I really cannot blame Rachel all that much since I would’ve fell for him as well.

I also found myself not really liking Martha all that much as well as a couple other people in this book. In one part of the book Martha becomes unfair to Lola, because she assumes something about her, and it concern “her boys”. But Martha knows what has happened to Lola, (even though it’s unclear how) and instead of being understanding she treats her horrible. I don’t think that’s fair to Lola, and it’s most differently not right.

In this book I found myself disliking the people I liked in the other two book in this series. But overall reading this book was a blast. I was really into the story that I didn’t even realize it was getting to the end of the book. I do have some unanswered questions and hope that the other books would be able to answer them. I really hope to see more of these two in the next books to come.

Fight of Life by Shandi Boyes
4 stars

This story will take you through trust, deceit, honor, friendship, loyalty, heartbreak, love, misconception and lust. Just when you think you know where the story is headed Shandi sends you on a different journey.

Lola will not date anyone after her past experience with her live in boyfriend. She shut down all hope of ever getting serious with someone or giving her trust to them. She doesn't allow herself to get attached to anyone either. It saves her from getting hurt or being disappointed.

Jacob is know to be a ladies man and isn't afraid to own it. He is use to the ladies throwing themselves at him. When he met Lola he finally met his match.

““I had a great time Jacob, but I’m not the girl for you,” she responds without remorse. “It’s not a date, we could just have a beer or something,” I stumble out, trying to come up with any excuse to be able to see her again. Lola stands there staring at me. Her light brown eyes roam over my body before she slowly walks towards me. Lola is average height for a girl, but considering my size, she has to fully extend her neck to be able to look into my eyes. “Pick me up Friday night at 8 pm,” she replies after a slight delay. She briskly spins on her heels and saunters back to her front door. Once she has gone inside, I jump back into my car. Not long later, I hear Lola yell out, “and it’s not a date!” before she slams her front door harshly.”

Jacobs passion and dreams are to be a fighter. No one else knows this about him. His obsession for working out increased after he was approached about fighting in the UFC. He teamed up with Hank at the gym to help train him for his first UFC heavyweight fight.

Lola is stubborn and doesn't want anyone to know about her past even when it rears its ugly self into her present. She tried to handle things on her own and it may be just the thing that brings a wedge to big between her “friendship” arrangement with Jacob. He begs her to trust him and tell her what happened in her past. She continued to keep him in the dark. Lola doesn't want to look weak or like a victim that needs saving. She rather push Jacob aside than be looked at differently by him.

““Please don’t cut me out of your life again, Lola,” he pleads softly. My heart cracks from his somber tone. “I’m sorry, but this friendship agreement we have isn’t working for me anymore,” I state firmly, before disconnecting the call and switching off my phone. Some of the rage I just reflected at Jacob was meant for my past, but I can’t keep leading Jacob on anymore. I want my life back to how it was a few months ago. When I wasn’t held responsible for other people’s actions. I can’t have that life if Jacob is a part of it.”

Fight of life is the third installment in the perception series previous novels were about Noah and Emily this time around its focused on Jacob and Lola.
Jacob Walters is a great guy lovable with a huge genuine heart while Lola is the love them kind of hate them kind of girl, she's stubborn, outspoken and set in her own ways and won't budge her way or the highway.
Jacobs first sets eyes on Lola when shes sitting at q bus stop where she's missed her bus by ten minutes so Jacob being how he is offers a ride plus he can't but notice how unbelievably beautiful and hot she is so that helps with his decision to help, Lola hesitates at first she don't know the guy after all so can't blame her but after realising its her only option she takes him up on his offer. At first things are quite and a little tense but when they get to first stop light they finally introduces themselves after that things get heavy between them it's like a switch is flipped flirting hot glances so that's why they end up at Bronte’s Park having hot heated sex in Jacobs car which shocks him as they have just met. Jacob really likes Lola so when he finally drops her off home he asks her out hoping that she could feel it too between them she agrees to go out with him but tells him before she shuts her front door that it isn't a date. See while Jacob bless him want something permanent with Lola all she offers him is friendship which he is gutted about as he want her to be his but will take what he can get. What happens when he finds out about lolas past with her ex Callum..... Will they end up together....... Will Lola let Jacob in....... Can Lola protect Jacob when trouble happens...
I loved this novel how can you not Shandi done a amazing job with the storyline once again was hooked from chapter one right til the last word. The characters comes to life right of the pages with how well they are written. I really liked Lola she may have a been w hard nut to crack but she held her own throughout this book which is a nice change to a female character. Jacob God he's like the perfect book boyfriend kind hearted , protective, alpha just all around a good guy which makes him so irresistible. You can read this as standalone but I recommend reading from the beginning of the series to really enjoy the perception series.

Fight of Life by Shandi Boyes is the third book in the Perception Series. This book focuses on Jacob and Lola whom we met in Reality of Life and Perception of Life. Jacob is the best friend of Noah, and Lola is the sister of Emily. This book is a standalone but I think it’s best to read them in order to experience the full effect of the story. We see a little of the story of Jacob and Lola in the first books but that was just the tip of the iceberg.
The story starts with Jacob and Lola meeting for the first time, he is waiting at a red light when his attention is diverted by someone swearing at a bus schedule. Jacob asks if she needs a ride, she turns and he is caught…hook, line, and, sinker! This begins the love affair between the two characters.
Jacob and Lola build their friendship, eventually becoming close although he would like more Lola has just recently gotten out of an abusive relationship, which she hasn’t told anyone about, and just wants to be independent. She ends up getting a job at Maverick’s, the bar where Jacob’s friends’ band plays so they end up seeing each other often.
Jacob is a caregiver, he knows Lola wants to be independent but he feels the need to protect her. So when her past comes back to haunt her, Jacob protects her to the best of his ability, even to the detriment of his career. This leads to difficulties between the two because Lola sees this as him taking away her independence.
While I fell in love immediately with Emily and Noah in the first books, and I definitely loved Jacob from the beginning, I had a tough time getting there with Lola. She’s tough, slightly jaded, and definitely stubborn.
I love this series, I loved this book and I definitely can’t wait to delve into the remaining books. My only “pet peeve” I guess you would call it is that in this story we go back over a lot of the story from the first two books that could have been skipped over, or summarized. It held my interest though, minus the heart attack I was given in Perception of Life, and it was definitely a story that needed to be told. Once again Ms. Boyes…way to go!!

Fight of Life is the third book in the Perception series written by author Shandi Boyes. The first two books in the series focus on Noah Taylor, but this book is the story focused on his “brother” Jacob Walters. Fight of Life can be read as a standalone, but the author highly recommends reading after the first two books in the series. This is the first book that I’ve read by this author, so I am missing some of the back story – but I don’t feel that it impacts this story. Reading the others will only enhance your following of this characters.

Jacob Walters is a cuddly bear of a man with a heart to match. He seems to find the good in most situations. Lola McIntosh does not come off as the good, quiet girl in this story, she is anything but! It’s a love story with a twist – a relationship is not something Lola wants and she does everything she can to stay out of that trap. She takes Jacob on an emotional roller coaster ride coming in and out of his life without any warning.

The way Shandi Boyes has written this story, you cannot help but to almost immediately fall in love with Jacob’s character. He’s endearing, witty, and definitely can make you smile. He’s there when you need a friend. Lola is a bit more difficult, but that’s because she has turned herself into a cactus and chooses to keep herself prickly and protected. A piece at a time, Jacob works to shatter that rough exterior and capture her. However, it is anything but an easy road ahead for this set as outside influences from the past won’t stay in the past and work to cause pain and heartache.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and cannot wait to read more by this author if this book is any indication of her writing.

Fight for life by Shandi Boyes is the third book in the Perception Series and unlike the other two can be read as a standalone. While I loved Noah and Emily from book 1 and 2, I have to say that this book was by far my favorite so far. Not just the characters but by the amazing way the author has written another 5 star book.

Jacob Walters, He is loveable with a huge heart. One look into his blue eyes, and he will steal your heart.
Lola, you love her or hate her. She is stubborn and set in her ways.

Get these two together and you have an amazing love story. Lola feels a connection with Jacob right away but she had been so hurt in the past that she guards her heart and her emotions. Jacob is drawn to her also, and wants to spend more time with her. They decide to remain friends which leads to years of off and on again between the both of them. All that Jacob wants to do is break down her walls and All’s Lola fears is what happens when he does break down these walls.

Shandi Boyes has done it yet again and has given us a book boyfriend you want all to yourself. While yes, this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first two books in the series, as you will be able to read how Noah and Emily see Jacob and you will fall even more in love with him. I loved that Lola was stubborn and guarded but she was not weak like many other leading ladies are. She drew me into the book just as much as Jacob did. This whole series just gets better and better. I love the style in which the author gives us and the strong leading characters and also the supporting characters. I give this book 5 stars and recommend this WHOLE series. I honestly can say this has been one of my favorite series this year and I cannot wait to read more in this series and more from this author.

Fight of Life by Shandi Boyes is book three in the ‘Perception Series’. Although this is a series the book can be read as a standalone. This book is about Jacob and Lola. It’s a deeply engrossing story about the power of unconditional love. A definite 4 out of 5 stars!

The first two books focused on Noah Walters, this book is about his brother Jacob. Jacob Walters is a brawny, teddy bear of a man. He has a huge heart and the most positive attitude. He is always looking for the silver lining in every situation. The kind of man you want to bring home to your parents.

Lola McIntosh is anything but innocent. She is gorgeous and she knows it. Full of flair and fun. She is not looking for any kind of relationship, and love is the furthest thing from her mind. She has the roughest exterior, like raw leather that needs to be weathered over time to soften.

Lola is ultimately stubborn, yearning to grow her independence and prove herself as to not needing a man for support. Jacob is relentless in his pursuit. The past continues to come up and bite them, both enduring so much. You cannot help but fall in love with Jacob’s character. He is the ultimate friend; the question is can he crack her thick skin… soften her up?

Shandi Boyes is a phenomenal storyteller. I loved the flow of the book, as soon as I started reading I was pulled into their world and as I continued to read I fell in love with the characters, who were so very relatable. Shandi did a remarkable job taking me on an emotional roller-coaster, and I enjoyed every minute! You learn about human behavior, love and triumph. The twists and turns plus a surprising suspense hooks you right in to reading till the end. A true love story. This book captures the uniqueness of love and faith in a fresh new way, leaving you light-hearted and feeling complete. I highly recommend this book.

5 Stars *****

Fight of Life is the third book in Shandi Boyes Perception series and it was just as amazing as the first two. In the first 2 books we watched Lola and Jacob dance around each other without every getting the full story. In Fight of Life, we got to go back to the beginning and learn how the met and we also got to see things in different perspectives. So many things make so much more sense now and I love how Lola and Jacob have grown as people over the duration of this book.
When Jacob first met Lola she was on the side of the road with a broke down car, he knew from that moment that Lola was different from other girls he had dated and he couldn’t wait to spend more time with her. Lola knew there was a connection to Jacob as soon as she met him but because she has been hurt in the past, she has a strong and fast rule to never date or give into her emotions again. They decide to be “Friends” and things lead to a hot and cold relationship that last years. In the end will Jacob be able to melt the walls around her heart or is it better to cut losses and walk away?
Keep in mind that this book runs parallel to the first two books, so we get to the events of that time through Jacob and Lola’s eyes and I think with everything that happened in the first two books; that it really helped move their relationship along. I absolutely love this series and will continue to read this series until it is over. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to read books about romances that can stand up against difficult situations.

Fight of Life is another five star novel by Shandi Boyes. This is the third book in the Perception series. The author takes an interesting turn in this book and takes us back to the time at the beginning where Perception of Life started. Instead of focusing on Noah again, we now have the full story of Jacob. Jacob and Noah have been best friends since sixth grade. Even with the hard struggles Noah has had to go through, Jacob has proven that he will always be by his side. Late one night, Jacob is on his way home and sees a beautiful woman yelling at the bus schedule. He decides to see if she needs a ride. This is the moment that Jacob’s life takes a turn. He has been searching for his one true love but even though he has fallen in the past, they never stick around. Noah picks on him constantly for thinking he is in love every time. When Lola accepts his offer of a ride home, they end up taking a detour to the make out mountain. They end up going all the way and Jacob knows he needs to see her again. Lola is not that type of girl though. She has been hurt in the past and refuses to let herself be taken over by those same kind of emotions. After several attempts at staying away from each other, they keep getting drawn back in. This only happens though after Jacob promises they are just friends, sometimes friends with benefits, but friends nonetheless. As Jacob continues to break down Lola’s walls and find out what happened to her to make her the person she is, Lola starts to back down her defenses.

Fight of Life by Shandi Boyes is the third book in the Perception series. This book can be read as a standalone since it replays scenes from book 1 and 2. I do suggest you read the first two books in the series so you can read about all the other characters in the series and understand more about how they meet. Fight of Life gives you a more detailed view of the relationship between Jacob and Lola.Shandi Boyes has done it yet again and has given us a book boyfriend you want all to yourself.
I loved that Lola was stubborn and guarded but she was not weak like many other leading ladies are. She drew me into the book just as much as Jacob did. This whole series just gets better and better. I love the style in which the author gives us and the strong leading characters and also the supporting characters. I have enjoyed this series and the closer look into Jacob and Lola’s relationship. The story is written in an alternating POV, which is standard in the Perception series. I recommend this book for those who like second chance romance. Can’t wait to read the next book on the Perception Series. I definitely enjoyed the whole series and recommend each and every book . I honestly can say this has been one of my favorite series this year and I cannot wait to read more in this series and more from this author.
If you by chance you haven't already fallen in love with Jacob from the books 'Perception of Life' and 'Reality of Life', I think this next instalment in the 'Perception' series will have you falling head over heels in love.

Lola is a feisty, no holds barred, bar employee at Mavericks and Pete’s. She was once abused by her ex-boyfriend, which still haunts her and she avoids romantic attachment to men.
Jacob is rising UFC fighter, which he has been keeping a secret from his family and friends. He falls for Lola the moment he meets her.
Lola is strongly attracted to Jacob but is very guarded due to her abusive past and lets him know that she is not the girl for him, she wants to remain as “friends” with Jacob. He doesn’t back down and their “friendship” goes through several obstacles. Will Lola finally see that Jacob is different and has her best interest at heart? Will she allow her guarded wall down and finally fall in love with Jacob?

Fight of Life by Shandi Boyes ( Perception Series Book 3). If you've read the first two books then you know Lola and Jacob!! If you haven't then STOP and go read the first two!!!! You will get to know them and feel like it too!!! Once you start reading book one, I'm telling you that you won't stop until you've read all her books!! This book is about what makes Lola and Jacob tick and why they do some of the things they do.!!!! I love this Author, her writing makes you feel that you know each of the characters personally!!!
Lola is Emily's big sister which you would of learned in book one. Jacob is Noah's best friend/brother!!! In this book you will read if they can make it as a couple.
Lola doesn't do relationships, she want to be " friends" with Jacob only!! Will Jacob find out the reason why? Lola works at Mavericks as a bartender.
Noah has a secret from his family, he has been fighting and making money off it. Jacob wants more with Lola but will she give him more or does he have to let her go, like his father said!!!!
Can they make it work or will they go their separate ways as best they can because his best friend Noah is with Emily, Lola's sister!! Will they be friends or more only time will tell..but what happens when Lola gets a visit from someone she isn't expecting??

Fight of Life
By Shandi Boyes

Fight of Life By Shandi Boyes is the third book in this series. This is a rock star new adult romance. This can be read as a standalone but I wouldn't recommend it. It is very entwined with books one and two.

Fight of Life is Jacob's story. Jacob has been my favorite character all along. We have known him as Noah's best friend from book one. Lola, our h is Emily's older sister. We go back to the beginning in this book to where Jacob and Lola first meet. In going back we run parallel to Noah and Emily's story.

Lola is very stubborn and strong willed, I'll be honest I didn't really like her. She grows on you by the end of the book but I just kept thinking she wasn't the right girl for Jacob. I think I liked his character so much that I thought he deserved better. Softer, nicer? I'm not sure and I don't think my opinion is the popular based on other reviews. So hopefully you'll like her more than I did. I did enjoy their story I was just hoping I'd fall more in like with her. The story is good though with some secrets, twists, and a bit of danger thrown in. And Jacob is an awesome character.

The next in this series is Nick and Jenni’s story.

This book is part of a series. Can be read as a standalone, but not recommended. There is no cliffhanger and has a HEA :)

Wow this book took me on an emotional rollercoaster. This story is about Jacob and Lola. We learned about them in the previous book about how they met and about Jacob’s roommate Noah and Lola’s sister Emily. We did not know a whole lot about what was going on with Jacob and Lola’s friendship, we were kind of led to believe stuff but until you read this book you have no idea what really went on with each of them in their own lives. Lola has a past and she tries to stay just friends with Jacob because she does not want to be hurt again. She has built a wall up around herself and does not want to knock it down even for Jacob. Lola is feisty and is not afraid to tell you what she thinks. She is not meek and mild like her sister. Lola works in a bar and likes what she does.
Jacob lives with Noah and they have been friends for a long time and are always there to support each other. Jacob has kind of a secret life that he keeps hidden from everyone except Hank his trainer. Jacob wants to have a relationship with Lola but is having a hard time getting her to commit so he does what he loves and also hangs out with Noah and Emily and goes on with life.
In this book both Jacob and Lola have pasts they are having to deal with. Will they ever become a couple? Read and find out. It is another great book.
