Rate this book
How much of yourself are you really willing to give up to keep a happy home? After catching her husband with a mouth full of someone else's vagina, Janelle has to decide if she can forgive and forget. That thing called LOVE can turn your entire world upside down and knock you on your ass in the blink of an eye. Alan has done the unthinkable and just might have burned any chance of reconciliation with his wife after leaving her stranded and flown home with his mistress. Regret the Day I Said Too Late For Sorry is a story about a group of couples who think they have found the answer to having a happy lifelong marriage. Bailee & York and Tiffany & Damon have been secretly swinging for years. As they see their friends' marriages on the brink of disaster they encourage them to give it a try to spice things up. While it all seems logical at first, time later reveals that every choice has a consequence; Good or bad, their actions can come back to haunt them. Can these marriages be saved? Can these friendships be rebuilt? Have you ever regretted the day you said yes? Sometimes it's too late for sorry.

I've seen the opening scene before. Wife walks in on husband and mistress in the throes of passion. It isn't anything new or groundbreaking, but it does grab the reader's attention and hold it. Janelle's (the wife in question) reaction alone was plenty to hold my attention and Alan's (the philandering husband) and Kristy's (unapologetic home-wrecker) actions that followed had me upset and cursing up a storm while I flipped the pages. An author's goal was to have the reader feeling something, anything, towards the characters to get them emotionally involved and Swanson did just that with the characters of Alan and Kristy.
I liked that the author shared some of Alan's thought process while he rationalized breaking his wife's and children's hearts and continuing his affair. It made me hate him even more, but appreciate the author's efforts in telling the story. The situation is real and it is one that couples all over go through everyday, however it is a little more entertaining when it is a work of fiction and not your real life.
When we are introduced to the friends of Janelle and Alan (Trinity and Damon, Bailey and York, Shani and Kyle) the book goes from real life to movie entertainment. The ultimate setup for the couples, them going on a group couples vacation, is one that I've seen in other books and movies, but the topic of swinging threw a little curve ball for me. It is in the book's description that swinging is involved, but the manner in which it was thrown is what makes it interesting. Ultimately, the spotlight lands on infidelity, trust, and double standards and you're left with a few thoughts to consider after you've finished the book.
Although I enjoyed the book, there were a few things I didn't care for. First, I would've liked to have seen more of Janelle and Alan's marriage in the form of a flashback or conversation or something. Alan himself said that Janelle was a great wife and there was no justification for his affair, so I guess maybe I'm just hoping that he had some kind of redeeming quality and that he wasn't just a selfish coward of a man. Or maybe more details just would have made me even more disgusted with him. Second, although it was fun to watch the drama unfold when swinging was brought into the picture (I was sipping be away on my frappucino and glued to the pages like I was watching TV) I was really more interested in Janelle, Alan and how Janelle picked up the pieces after their split than I was with the addition of the friends and the vacation. There were so many possibilities with Janelle's story alone and, although entertaining, the vacation took away from that. I felt like that could have been a book all on its own.
Third, I'm glad Janelle found a love interest, but I hate that there was hardly any focus on him and their blossoming relationship. Love at first sight and kismet are wonderful thoughts, but their relationship progressed incredibly fast and under the strangest of circumstances given the situation. Shani and Kyle's story is secondary to Janelle's, but could also very well have been it's own story. Trinity and Damon and Bailey and York were minor characters who had specific roles, but, in my opinion could have been left out completely and the story wouldn't have suffered. Ultimately, I suppose most of that could fall under the umbrella of development because I felt the book could have used more content pertinent to Janelle's and Shani's stories and could have saved the other couples for a different novel to really give the other plots more shine.
Lastly, though I don't often mention it in most reviews, this book could have used another round of editing. There were a few too many errors for me to ignore and not have it affect my view on the book as a whole. Despite the dislikes, there was far more that I liked about the book. It was interesting and entertaining. I finished it in a few hours and was glad that I read it.

Messy

This story based on the blurb is obviously messy, but it was messier than I thought.

This will contain spoilers. Sorry, I can’t explain the rating any other way.

I’m highly upset they introduced Kyle to swinging before informing his wife, Shani. By the time she finds out, he’s been with Bailee and Trinity multiple times. It doesn’t matter if York and Damon knew. That’s cheating. Trinity is Shani’s friend. Where are her boundaries and respect for that friendship?

Since the blurb focuses on Janelle, I thought there would be more focus on her. I think it was lacking because we got the POV of so many people. Maybe it makes up for that in the sequel that seems unnecessary based on the epilogue of this book.

Soooo good!

HA! Alan realized that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. I didn't like Kristy, I know he doesn't want to be alone but don't marry her. I love Caleb for Janelle and I hope that work out. Still don't like Kyle he can't take his wife sleeping with someone else but he did it. I like Damon and York was okay, Bailee needed her face slapped and Trinity was with whatever.

This was an interesting book. The things that people do without consulting their partner. I'm not a person to judge what others do in their marriage. This is a story that should be told because it's real life. Glad that Janelle was a strong person even though her husband had plans to share her with his friends.

Good read

I must say I am sooo proud that this author did not make Janelle this week woman who couldn't find her way without alan. I only have it 4 stars because of how fast she was falling in love with caleb. The met one day and the next get were on vacation together. Made no sense to me but I guess it could happen.

Regret the Day I Said Yes: Too Late For Sorry

This was my first time reading a book by this author. There was a lot to divulge with these couples and Regina Swanson did a good job. Some things were relatable but one thing was not--swinging couples. That means Caleb & Janelle were my favorite. Now on to read the sequel.

Swingers Anonymous

I enjoyed this book and all that was taught about the swinging lifestyle. It was told from many different points of view. Some will always call it cheating no matter what.

Alan was a mess and did not deserve Janelle! Kristy was a horrible person, can't wait to see what happens to her in part 2!

Regret the Day I Said Yes by Regina Swanson is one brilliant masterpiece. Talk about drama! This story is full of drama. The emotions are so intense and flying everywhere. Readers will be intrigued from the first page. The action and suspense of what will be, keeps readers hooked. Regina Swanson has once again, put her superb writing into another fabulous read. Her characters are three-dimensional. Their issues become the readers' issues. Marriage can rip apart faster than we thought...just how fast is something readers will be shown. When men have it good with a good decent woman...they somehow think they

When men have it good with a good decent woman...they somehow think they need something more because their lives got too boring or too hard to handle. Wusses. If a man needs another woman on the side then, the issues lie with him. The wives and other women in this story are realistic that it's funny. I can visualize all the scenes. Regret the Day I Said Yes is more like a fast-paced movie than a novel. Detailed just enough to pop images into readers' minds. Jealousy, rage, lust and the feeling of loss are all woven into this title. Great emotional journey. Ups and downs just like real life. Regina Swanson has a way of making her novels real. It's hard to believe they're just fiction. Juicy, steamy, and addictive. I managed to read the whole novel in an hour. Absolutely, loved reading this urban romance. The harsh realities that couples face when their loved one cheats...hurts. Friends are more entangled in each other's lives than they thought. Sex with the other person's partner. Yet not all couples know that their partner is cheating until it comes out in the open. Children are angry because their father cheated on their mom. Then the woman he cheated with is awful towards his kids...now, he's rethinking his relationship with her. Friendships are forever changed. The sparks and desires are enchanting. Overall, I highly recommend this novel to readers everywhere.

Too Late For Sorry

First of all let me say that I couldn't stand Alan. He really was trifling from the very first page of the book. I'm glad that Janelle moved on with her life. He got just what he deserved with Kristy. This storyline was not what I expected. It started one way, but took a shocking turn and went into a whole other direction. I did not see that coming. You have to read the book to understand what I am talking about. There is plenty of drama to keep you turning the pages.

This was a great read.. This book is truly different from the normal.. I loved that Jenelle was such a strong woman, well at least she was in the face of Allen & that no good a** Kristy.. Caleb was definitely everything she needed abs wanted at the moment.. He was so smooth with everything.. Lort that vacay was disastrous in the best way possible.. Nothing prepared me for that secret that was revealed.. Everyone got exactly wat they deserved especially Allen and Kyle.. Loved the look on Allens face at the luau..lol I can't believe that's the end I want more..lol Great job..

The Hawaii vacation

I enjoyed this book. Just outdone by Alien treatment to his wife. It's one thing getting busted in an affair. To mistreat your wife like it's her fault is irresponsible to say the least. But the Hawaii vacation blew my hair back. You never know what goes on in relationships. They say you sick as your secrets. So everybody knew what was going on except for a few, but it's after they find out that's intriguing. I going to recommend this book to some friends and my daughter. Way to go Regina Swanson you did it again!

Interesting book...

Finished it in a day. It kept me wondering where it was going to go & I'm actually glad that (SPOILER Alert), one woman chose to not accept her husband's apology & that another woman slept with another man to find out what getting her rocks off is really like. It's nice to not always having to be the one accepting the spouses infidelities & staying faithful & unsatisfied for the sake of family. Good, quick read.

Good

This was a good read. I do have to say that it totally thrown me for a loop because I was not expecting the book to take the turn that it did, about the whole swinging thing, like woe total surprise. I want to say that's what Alan gets for leaving his wife for another woman and then realizing that he made a mistake and now wants her back, nope to late, the grass is not always greener on the other side. What a dummy. Good book thou.

Good to the last page

OMG. Now that was a good book. All of the character were so relatable, but that Kristy. Lord have mercy I wanted to strangle her my dang gone self. That is what Alan gets. Sleep with dogs and get fleas. Lmao. I was glad that Janelle found Caleb to make her happy. I laughed at the swingers because we all know that everyone isn't built for that like. I know I'm not. I'm like Caleb. I don't like to share. Great job.

I was glad Janelle stood her ground against Alan. Kristy was one vindictive chick but Alan still had the upper hand, despite him appearing weak. Caleb was the man! He showed up at the right time. These couples were something else with their activities.. Great story.

I hope to never meet a man like Alain. He was very weak and pathetic. He let Kristy walk all over him with her home wrecking self. Those couples took me on a journey that I won't soon forget.
