If you already know a bit about growing your own vegetables you'll find this a bit simple but if you are totally new this is a great introduction. Matt Franks focuses on what you need to know to get started on your private veggie patch straight away, and provides a schedule to follow until you get in the habit of growing. He also starts out with advice on how to build your own raised garden beds out of recycled materials. It's a positive and helpful book to help you get growing in the space you have. It's written for a UK audience so my fellow Australians will need to hemisphere-shift the seasons and not worry so much about frost but otherwise good advice here!

Excellent book with beautiful illustrations and photos. While other horticultural books usually bombard you with tons of information, this one give you small guidelines and starter's projects to begin your planting journey. Also, resources are provided for further experimenting and discovery. A worthy ride for any urban gardeners.

A brilliant book for anyone who wants to grow their food who is space and/or time poor. Innovative ideas and with great suggestions about how to use technology to the gardener's advantage.

Solid and illuminating. Written in the U.K., so a little northern-hemisphere-centric, but not too bad. Nice to see the authors are in the 21st century and talk about phone apps etc as gardening helpers.
