Oh my, I've got feelings about that ending. Ugh, this volume is so much cuter than the first.
We're getting more backstory for Hina but it's all teases and flickers of information. We're also getting to see how Hina liking girls isn't something new for her, and she talks about her lack of interest in boys. The side characters, Hina's friends, are really sweet and seem like really good friends.
Hana is also starting to realize she has feelings other than friendship for Hina and it's super duper precious and innocent! Especially that last line: "But my pounding heart finally burst open. Deep in my chest I felt as if a flower had bloomed." That's so sweet and precious and I'm really excited to see how their relationship is going to continue developing.
Also, super cute thing: HINA MAKING AN EXCUSE TO HOLD HANA'S HAND!!

Be sure to have a supply of insulin on hand to ward off the diabetic coma that will come from the extra-sweet story that unwinds languidly in Volume 2 of this typical Morinaga fairytale of two schoolgirls in love, but who as usual refuse to admit it. Unlike Volume 1, where I thought there might be some conflict from the one main character's standoffishness, it seems instead that both our main characters are destined to wonder, wonder, wonder, as they always do, what ever they should do about these feelings they have, while being as pleasant and nice as anyone could ever be.
It's easy to complain this is a formula from this author, but if you liked it the first time, why not the tenth? Sweetness is what I want, and these are, undoubtedly, the sweetest yuri stories around.
I think my favorite thing about this series is that while there is a lot of drama happening in the girls's heads and hearts, things in their lives are actually pretty great, and they don't constantly cause huge and unnecessary problems for themselves that give me anxiety! Hana is anxious and oblivious and stuck in her head a lot, and I can relate to that, but she's still a strong character that goes after what she wants and takes risks and tries new things. This is just really strong character building in a sort of silly premise and I love it.
I’m enjoying the little bits and pieces of characterization we get for the other shop employees besides Hana and Hina! Hina’s denial of her feelings and trying to say they were “normal” and not romantic was both kinda funny and unfortunately real, and like the previous volume, this was cute (I do love a stereotypical fireworks date)… However, the author’s note weirded me out and I’m gonna stop leaving ratings for this series😭 I think that’s kinda to be expected, though? As much as I resonate with the story’s portrayal of the excitement and nerves of first love, while there’s not that many moments of it, the main characters feel a little sexualized? (i’m extremely disconnected from girlhood though, so my himejoshi or romance girlies out there please give your own opinion?)
Also there’s no way every speech bubble that mentioned food wasn’t localized to hell and back💀💀
And I called that Hina’s friend was an ex!! Their friendship seemed way too homoromantic based on how Hina talked about Maiko, come on. She’s definitely not as sweet as Hana thought she would be… kinda messy of Maiko to tell who she assumes is just a fan of Hina that her ex dropped by lmao
I’ll likely be borrowing the last volume, though. Hana & Hina After School is consistently entertaining, and despite the tropes, there’s some aspects of the writing that I like. (The main characters remain lovable, as does their budding romance.) Also I need Hina’s wardrobe

I love this series, and I still say it's my favorite yuri by Milk Morinaga. But a couple things did annoy me a bit in this volume. Hana and Hina aren't able to work together through the entire book because they have final exams coming up. Then the girls kept having misunderstandings, and spent more time pouting and worrying about it than actually spending time together. Also, the author introduced a "third wheel" character, who I suspect will try and push the girls apart. I hate that trope above all else.
But there was plenty more of the same cuteness we saw in volume 1: shopping, secret pining, and plushies! Hana and Hina do visit each other's homes and meet one another's families. We get to see them in yukata as they prepare to attend a festival together. And by the end of the book they've finally realized they have feelings for each other!
Luckily I have volume 3 already, but it is going for like $600 on the Amazon marketplace. That must be a fantastic conclusion to this trilogy. lol! I'm looking forward to seeing how it wraps up. Hopefully Miss Third Wheel will make a hasty exit.
This book is AMAZING, it has so many cute moments, so many cute pictures and such great conversations. I love Milk Morinaga and her books and how great they are doing. Plus this book is not as old as other books, I loved how at the end of the book it would give you little hints on what would be in the next book. It was great until it lasted because now I finished it and want to read it all over again, even if I know every little detail that will happen in the book. The only trouble that I might have had was getting used to the font and mixing some letters up until I got the hang of it.
We are still following the adventures of Hana and Hina as they spend more time together and realize their feelings for each other. As I have stated in the previous volume, I like that in this series the characters are aware almost immediately that they have feelings for each other, which is an improvement of Girlfriends that although I adore, in retrospective I see how Milk Morinaga drags the drama or the cluelessness of the characters too much. Recommended for a very light-hearted read!
The tension builds! Will they tell each other how they feel?
The girls have had a few more misunderstandings, but everything is finally falling into place. Hina is trying to work up the courage to tell Hana how she feels, & Hana is starting to realize she has feelings for Hina, which was spurred on when someone important from Hina's past suddenly shows up at the shop.
The story is getting pretty good! There was more relationship development with the two girls spending time with one another outside of work. Hana learns more information of Hina's past when an old friend shows up.
Volume 2 has it all! Two super sweet protagonists, a fear of unrequited love, multiple bouts of emotional turmoil, and just a hint of the ex-drama that’s sure to come. Not to mention that you’ve got yourself a wonderfully drawn and wonderfully written story! The cuteness quite literally oozes off the page, and this volume does just enough to keep the story going while also tying up a few plot points that carried over from volume one! This manga trilogy definitely comes highly recommended!

4 stars. Both girls are having feelings for the other now and it’s fuckin’ precious! The emotions that they both go through felt real. Though I am very curious about Hina’s former friend referring to herself as her ‘ex’. Very suspicious. Can’t wait to see how this series wraps up.
This series is so cute!!! I think this is the first thing I've actually read by Milk Morinaga, and while the art style isn't quite to my preference, it's very sweet.
See book one for my full review. Enjoying this series! Go get all of Milk Morinaga’s stuff!
This book series seems to be partially out of physical print but is pretty easy to find used. You can buy it as an ebook if you have an issue finding them. Book 3 I had a tough time finding.
I love how in this volume it was more visible to how much Hana and Hina, really care for each other but just don’t know how to tell the other; especially Hinako.
Okay, it keeps getting better and better for Milk Morinaga, yet we're left to think, when are the two lovers going to get together? because we know they're into each other, but ones too shy to make a move and the other is overthinking things, but we all know Morinaga does something interesting at the end of each volume. I can't wait to see what happens after this series is over and the next one that Morinaga will do should be just as sweet as this story. This story really touched my heart.
*3 or more is good for comics, manga or graphic novels. I never really know how to rate some of these. There are some where I'm totally in love, know automatically it is a 5 star, but then some I am just not sure about in the first couple volumes.*
