Ruth L. Snyder was privileged to spend the first 10 years of her life in southern Africa where her parents served as missionaries. From there her family moved to Canada, settling in Three Hills, Alberta. Ruth enjoyed her years as a "staff kid" at Prairie and is grateful for the biblical grounding she received there. She now resides close to Glendon (the pyrogy capital of Alberta, Canada) with her husband and five young children. Ruth enjoys writing articles, devotionals, short stories, and Christian fiction. She is a member of The Word Guild and The Christian PEN. Ruth currently serves as the President of InScribe Christian Writers' Fellowship.

Ruth's children have taught her many things about living with special needs. She is a strong advocate and spent several years serving on the local public school board.

Ruth loves her job teaching Music for Young Children. She is fascinated by children's imaginations and enjoys helping young children learn the basics of music through play.

In her spare time, Ruth enjoys reading, crafts, volunteering in her local community, photography, and travel. Several years ago, Ruth and her family traveled through 28 States in 30 days! Find out more about Ruth and her writing at http://ruthlsnyder.wordpress.com

This latest book from Ruth L. Snyder is a collection of information featuring Twitter, actually an updated compilation of her two previous books, Learn Twitter: 10 Beginning Steps and Learn Twitter: 10 Intermediate Steps (from the Author’s Social Media Mastery series). It covers the “why” as well as the “how” of Twitter, and does so in an organized and understandable manner.

Beyond the eye-catching cover and title, the format is attractive and easy to follow. I particularly like the bird/key image at the beginning of each chapter.

Chapters are short and focused, including basic instructions as well as “homework” at the end of each section. Topics include pertinent information about Twitter, why the reader should consider setting up a Twitter account and exactly how to do so, how and what and when to Tweet, how to use hashtags, templates, scheduling apps, and link shorteners, etc. The book lists various sites and free apps to make our Twitter experience effective and efficient.

For me, one of the most helpful aspects of Twitter Decoded is the use of examples, visuals and links to the author’s Twitter account. It’s basically a three-step presentation: facts, examples and practice.

The key to understanding and using Twitter, according to the author, is to build relationships. She quotes Michael Hyatt: “It’s not about you; it’s about your followers.” The author presents helpful suggestions on how to streamline the use of Twitter so it doesn’t take over our writing time.

Twitter Decoded is an excellent resource for anyone using social media, but especially for authors who want their work to be available and accessible to their readers. This book offers so many great tips there’s no excuse not to use Twitter. Thank you, Ruth L. Snyder, for this concentrated effort to make our Twitter experience the best it can be.

The ebook will be available September 1, 2016 from Creativity Press.

This book is perfect for authors and writers who are just embarking on the realms of social media, specifically Twitter—but it also has enough information for a seasoned pro to gain some extra knowledge on the subject. It starts out with step-by-step instructions for the absolute beginner, making it very non-threatening and user-friendly. As the book progresses, Snyder delves deeper into the world of Twitter with tips on scheduling, frequency, how to create great tweets, and pretty much anything you could imagine needing to know on the subject. At the end of each chapter, the reader is encouraged to take specific action, and on finishing the book there is no excuse for not being able to fully utilize Twitter effectively! Packed with links for further reading, resources, and recommended books, I came away knowing a lot more about Twitter than I did before, and feel confident in carrying out several of Snyder’s suggestions for authors. I thoroughly recommend this book for any writer (or any non-writer even!) who is interested in uncovering the mystery that is Twitter.

I already had a Twitter account, but on opening this book, I quickly realized I needed to be sitting at my computer, book in hand, so I could try some of the exercises to better acquaint myself with Twitter. It took a while to get to that point but finally, today was the day and I combed through it trying some new things. As suggested, I picked an app to improve my Twitter connections and chose to open a Hootsuite account to keep track of my Twitter and Facebook posts. A small little jewel full of helpful advice, techniques and links to more help. I'll keep this one close to my desk at all times!
