This is the first book by Robin Stone I have read and I liked it very much. It is more along the lines of my typical reading. A husband and wife who explore sexual things together....Without going into to much detail, it involves a couple who after 20 years of marriage are in a rut and the husband purchases some toys to spice things up in and out of the bedroom. I liked the story, I liked the characters, it is very well written and the sex scenes are awesome :) This is a great couples read! Every husband and wife, or any couple could learn a thing or two from these characters. I love when the couples are so in love that they go the extra mile for each other and realize what they have and don't want to lose it. Will be rereading the highlights of this one later to my hubby...lol
Will be reading more from this author in the future.
This was an absolutely WONDERFUL, refreshing SEXY LOVING story of a mature (entering 40's) married couple. Greg & Anna have been married for 20 yrs & have twin boys getting ready to leave home for college. Greg has worked long & hard to reach the success he has with his construction company & he is truly happy & supportive of Anna's blossoming photography business. BUT . . . . Anna is suffering the anxiety & sense of loss at the realization of their impending 'empty nest syndrome' & Greg realizes due to 'life' he & his beloved Anna haven't enjoyed themselves sexually in some time. An off hand conversation with one of his coworkers steers Greg into ordering a beginner's kit of sex toys with which he & Anna may experiment in order to reignite their previously intense bedroom life. I loved this story: a mature couple who BOTH LOVE each other without reservation. Who know life has managed to squelch their love life & both want this situation to be reversed. It is so seldom to read a story where a mature couple's love for each other shines so beautifully; they are both steadfast, serene, sure in their love & desire for each other as they ever were. The story is told entirely from Greg's POV & his complete & total love & adoratation for Anna shines through virtually every page. He determines they need a shakeup to reignite their sexual intensity & hopes the 'toys' will help. And again, even though it's Greg's idea & he initiates the 'play', he wants to do nothing unless Anna wants to do so too. In addition, Greg empathizes with Anna over her sadness about their boys leaving home as well as supporting her recently started career/business. And Greg & Anna begin their 'playtime' & enjoy it immensely. Realizing the next few months will be extremely busy for them both, professionally as well as setting the boys up in college, Greg sets up a mini-vacation over a weekend for he & Anna. He arranges time off, someone to check on the boys & books a room at a nice hotel. But then Anna is offered a once in a lifetime business opportunity for the same weekend . . . . This was a wonderfully written, excellently plotted short story & did not seem short, rushed or missing anything at all. I felt as though I really understood Greg & admired his character & love & dedication to Anna & their marriage so very much. Anna too was a shining character, she loved Greg wholeheartedly & treasured their life together & their marriage. The story was also beautifully LOW on angst & even that was resolved in a mature & loving manner. I recommend this one without ANY reservations, it is a loving, sexy, heartwarming, beautiful story of a couple who truly are each other's heart & soulmates. When I finished it, I was smiling & happy & I will be rereading this one many, many times.

I loved reading this story about a 40 something married couple using a sex toy package to reignite their passion for each other. I appreciated how the husband was the one to slowly introduce his wife to the concept and how tenderly and sexily he made sure she was comfortable. I also appreciate the discussion of how monogamy works best for them, as opposed to opening their marriage like some of their friends had done, but without shaming.
On the whole, this is actually a pretty tame read for ME, but a great starter novella for those looking to spice up their own reading.
I love that this story has a married couple getting hot and steamy with each other. Instead of looking for something new and exciting by looking outside the marriage, Greg finds ways to make his marriage exciting by trying something new with his wife.
"Toy with Me" is told from Greg's point of view, and has lots of yummy details.
I was gifted this book in return for an honest review.
I liked this one! I really enjoyed the fact that it's about an older (40s, though it pains me to call 40s old!) couple and that even though it's a shorter book, there was more to the story than just Anna and Greg and the beginner's box of goodies ;) Both Anna and Greg are great characters. They've been married for 20ish years and still love each other, though Greg is worried that things have gotten a bit static in their relationship. A neighbors' impending divorce and their own soon-to-be empty nest (their twin boys will be off to college soon) have left both Anna and Greg feeling a little apprehensive over where their lives are going. When Greg's coworker and friend suggests a box of toys, he's intrigued.
Anna's less so, though, but Greg clearly knows the meaning of consent. He's 100% there for her, and the second she's apprehensive or uncomfortable he has no problem doing whatever she needs to be comfortable, even if it means that particular toy goes back in the closet. Their two sons conveniently leave them alone a whole lot of nights, which works out great for everyone, since there are six items in the box for them to work their way through.
And work through them they do! ;)
Ms. Stone does a great job with first person male narrators (her Landscaper series, the only other books of hers that I've read so far, is also from a single male first person POV)--even though I'm more used to a 2-person back-and-forth narration style, I have to say that she really makes it work. I will absolutely be reading more of her books in the future!

She's the undisputed Mistress of Erotica for those of us who want the REAL DEAL. Toy with Me is classic Robin Stone - real people with real lives, real feelings, and real relationships. Anna and Greg have been married 20 years, have twin sons in college, and the empty nest/collage tuition blues. His thriving contractor's business, her growing photography business, and the demands of parenting occupy all their time and most of their attention. Anna's love for Greg is strong, but she's 40+, frantically busy, and too tired. She seems sadly resigned to the loss. Greg loves Anna too much to let the physical side of their love atrophy, and being a man accustomed to using tools and taking action, he finds a way to put the heat back into their hearts. Stone has a terse, pithy New Englander's writing style that drives to the heart of the matter. Her characters, especially Greg, demonstrate the Yankee tendency to eschew angst in favor of action, and they love each other with the rock-solid certainty of New Hamsphire granite and the steadfast endurance of the rocky Maine coast. Toy with Me is unabashedly erotic and soul-satisfying romance from a writer with a unique voice. My thanks to the author for an ARC of this book, and it is my voluntary and independent opinion that Toy With Me is one of her best.
This is my first read by Robin Stone. Both the gorgeous cover and the story's premise caught my interest: a married couple spices up their sex life by adding toys. For people who are still a little shy about reading erotica, this is the perfect book to get your feet wet. Since it is a married couple, the sex is all within the confines of a loving, committed relationship, but that doesn't mean it isn't a little kinky! ;) I enjoyed the well-written, realistic situations that this couple faced. It's told from the husband's point of view. I kind of wish I could have seen some of the scenes from Anna's (the wife's) point of view, but that's really my only qualm. Overall, a very well-written erotic tale.
Stoke the fire before it goes out I found this story very good, but it is true that it's without much mystery. It allows to give some ideas to the couples who would be afraid of the monotony with almost sometimes the instructions of some sex toys. On the other hand (and inevitably because of the theme), the scenes of sex succeed one another but with feelings for this couple that we follow, and who is searching for a way to maintain the flame in spite of their friends that separate, their work and their children who will leave soon at the university, leaving them alone both. The story is short enough to reflect on this moment in a couple's life, but I can not say that they are not inventive to overcome their doubts. This is about a couple who have been married for nearly 20 years and have gotten in to a rut. With the fast approaching departure of their kids as they head to college. both take a look at their marriage to determine what the future holds for them. They love each other and so they try to spice things up in the bedroom and they certainly manage to do that which results in quite a few steamy scenes in the story. The plot is a good one and well written with very likable well-rounded characters. I enjoyed reading this book, the first one by this author and I’m looking forward to reading more by her. I I loved this short read. Greg and Anna have been married for 29 years and their busy lives had started to take a toll on their marriage. So after having talked to Joe and was given some ideas on how to make their married lives more adventuresome he ordered some adult toys and Anne was onboard to spicing up their sex life which in turn had them reconnecting as a couple.loved this book it hit the spot.
Written entirely from the guy's perspective, it was almost surprising the amount of emotions that were evident throughout. I enjoyed reading a married couple's story that wasn't about cheating, but rekindling theirs in the face of their soon to be empty nest. I loved the care taken wuth these characters, even in the shorter book format. I'll be looking up more books by this author.
This book was so hot. Tons of chemistry and steamy scenes. Awesome characters and storyline. Read cover to cover because it was that good. Five star read!!!

Can you relate? Been married for YEARS, life gets in the way and you go through the motions. But change in inevitable and Greg decides to fight for their relationship. Because, when it comes down to it, once the kids leave, you need to rediscover each other. I think a lot of people take it for granted that even without the kiddos providing a distraction, things will continue as it's been. But that's not true.
Anna and Greg - if Anna was a little more hesitant to try things out, well, this wouldn't have worked. As it was, Greg had a great idea and I applaud him for it (or rather his friend). Scenes were sexy and steamy and I definitely felt their physical relationship rekindled.
Gives me hope, folks! LOL. Great read and thank you Robin Stone for allowing me a chance to read it!
A brilliant 5 star read, although its a short read its hot and sexy and shouldn't be missed, there are never enough books written about the older couple so this for me was a nice surprise. Greg and Anna set in there ways start to make more time for own live`s and find love again with the help of a few additions. Well written and edited, a really good story line and well worth a read. I was gifted this ARC for an honest review.
Robin Stone was a new author to me. I was gifted her book. This is my voluntary & honest review.
Have you ever felt like you were in a rut with your partner? Greg did. He felt like Anna and him didn't make time for each other. Didn't touch as much. They have twin teenage boys who will be going to college soon. Will Anna and him be able to reconnect?
Greg talks to his friend Joe to see how Melissa and him keep their relationship alive. Joe shows him a website where he purchases a box of fun. Each box has several toys. Greg decides he has nothing to loss so he buys one. As he introduces Anna to each item, they begin to learn each other's bodies again. They bring back that passion & fire. They make more time for each other.
This book makes you reflect on your own life. Makes you think of ways you can spice up your relationship. And makes you want to find a website to buy your own box of fun.
Thank you Robin for the opportunity to read your book. I am definitely a fan and will be looking at the rest of your books❤
