A wicked fairy who curses a child to a hundred years of slumber because she wasn't invited to a party. Seems harsh... but the real story is so much more interesting and way sexier.
In this re-telling of Sleeping Beauty, the wicked fairy Maurelle isn't mad at not receiving an invitation -- no she's got deeper reason for being upset at King Edmund and Queen Blissa. And little princess Briar Rose, before she's cursed, is given the gift of dream sight, which allows her to interact with others in her dreams. All is not changed, though. Prince Charming is still, well, charming. He's just a tad bit sexier and knows exactly how to please.
Find yourself a comfy spot and make yourself at home as you start this imaginative, adult version of the classic fairy tale.
Rosetta Bloom loves a good love story. She also likes a steamy tale with two characters who find solace in each other’s arms. So, she writes romance and erotic romances, and all of them end happily, because Rosetta hates sad endings. If you want a story that has a few surprises, and lots of heart, then she’s writing the story for you.
Rosetta Bloom’s primary novels and novellas are sexy retellings of classic fairy tales. They include The Princess, the Pea and the Night of Passion; Beauty and Her Beastly Love; Cinders and Ash: A Cinderella Story; and Dream Trysts: A Sleeping Beauty Story. Rosetta loves adding new life to these classic tales and hopes you enjoy the tweaked versions, too. Rosetta also has a series of really short erotic love stories called the Romance: Trysts series. You can read the first one, Dr. Carter & Mrs. Sinn, FREE. There are four in the series, and if you like the first, you can grab the rest individually or pick up the boxed set, Romance: Trysts Volumes 1-4.
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. I really wanted to give this story 5 stars, and had it been an option, I'd have given it 4.5. The reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is because of the editing.
The plot was surprising and well constructed, and despite knowing the original story so well, I was continually surprised by the events. This may be one of the most original and creative re-tellings of a classic tale that I have ever read. Rosetta Bloom deserves high praise for that.
However, the editing left much to be desired. I can overlook the occasional typo or missing word. What I cannot overlook, because it pulls me so completely out of the story, is using the wrong pronoun or the wrong character's name. If it happens only once, it's an unfortunate mistake. When it happens repeatedly, it's a reflection of poor editing and detracts from the story. It happened one too many times in this book.
Had this been a poorly written story, it wouldn't earn my recommendation. However, it is very well written and I highly recommend it. I also recommend that the author invest in a good editor, not only to edit this book, but also to avoid similar errors in future books.
I know the traditional story of sleeping beauty and this turns it on it's ear. There's a lot of the book that's true to the original. There's also just enough that's completely different that it kept me hooked from the very first page. This is a perspective on fairy/human interactions that I don't think I've seen anywhere else. They definitely bring it to a whole new, adult level. I enjoyed watching all of the characters pull together to defeat the curse. I especially loved watching Rose and James as they realized their true feelings for one another and fought their way to making their dreams come true. This book had enough heat to keep adult-me happy and sufficient fairy magic to keep my inner child enchanted. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest opinions.
This is my first book by Rosetta Bloom and I did not regret it at all. It was fantastic!
Until this book, I had long forgotten about fairy tales. Their cliché happy endings are just one of those things that stop appealing to you when you grow up. But with all the twists and dark turns in Dream Trysts, you really can't put the book down. It definitely rekindled some of my fondness for fairy tales.
So I really enjoyed this one and it's not something I would usually read. I loved the storyline and I will be reading the next ones.
I enjoyed this book. The pages flew. It's well-written and fast-paced. The characters are likable. I found myself feeling bad for Maurelle and her inability to let go of her anger and thirst for revenge. I will definitely be reading more books by this author. I volunteered to review this book and this is my honest review.
A wonderfully ADULT retelling of my favorite classical fairytale of Sleeping Beauty. This story stayed true to the actual fairytale, with a wonderfully wicked sexual twist. Ms. Bloom can read me a bedtime story anytime. Very well written and fun for the child in every adult.
