Battler #2

Battleground

Rate this book
I’ve been exiled by royal, Wolfe decree. I’ve become invisible and with my back pressed up against the wall I have two choices …

One – Be silent and live a life in the shadows – filled with regret and loss … or

Two – Raze hell and break the goddamn doors to the kingdom down.

The former requires backing down and the second requires stepping onto the battleground.

The want, the lust coursing through my veins is forbidden. Illicit. Taboo. If I give up and stay away then the desire can be buried. But if I fight it and torturously deny myself again and again maybe I can somehow be in their lives. And maybe then they’ll realize that I’m not fighting against them – I’m fighting for them.

I was looking forward to this book since the first book left a huge cliffhanger. I didn'tenjoy this one as much as the first. The was not enough interaction between the Riletta and Drasko. the few times they meet up was nothing but hate and discord. The new character took over my interest. Even though this is part 2, it almost read like a separate story. the resolution came out of no where. Things went quickly and felt a little rushed. It went from hate to love instantly. All was forgiven and they lived happily ever after. I did enjoy the cute epilogue at the end.

Battleground is the conclusion to the Battler Series. In this book we finally get a conclusion as to what is happening in Riletta's life. The mystery surrounding her relationship with Drasko and Trent. Why her parents have always treated her so awful, and why someone is trying to kill her.

Riletta was dealt an awful blow at the end of Battler. Losing the one person that she thought could finally love her. Riletta was not going to give up. Despite being almost killed, she was determined to get her revenge. Jayce had been tasked with being her bodyguard, but there is more to him than meets the eye. Always defiant and strong willed, Riletta will get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding her life even if it kills her.

Battleground is a great conclusion to this story. The mystery and drama gave us a great story. I truly liked Riletta as a character. She was spunky and had a smart mouth. Drasko continued to tear at heart strings. I wanted to hate him, but I could not. I loved how the story turned out and that every one got what they deserved. A good read.

Review by Gia:

Battleground is book two in the Battler Series. It can not be read as a standalone, you must read Battler first. This one picks up where the last one left off. After the way Battler ending I couldn't wait to pick this one up.

Riletta (Riley) has a lot goign on in this one. I liked who is never gave up. Drasko and Trent have declared Riley dead to them. I felt really bad for Riley and I was a little mad at Trent and Drasko. Drasko came off as more angry and rude then Trent did. There are some new characters in this one. Jayce is hired to be Riley's bodyguard. I liked him but I was also a little suspicious of him. Thorne is the new girl at school and her and Riley hit it off right away. I was always a little suspicious of her too. I was wondering if either of them had ulterior motives. There were definitely twists I didn't see coming. I loved this one!!

AN EPIC CONCLUSION TO A WONDERFUL DUET OF BOOKS

When I read C.L Masonite's first book in this duology, Battler, I openly admitted that I wasn't really into teen angst and dramas, but I still gave that book FOUR STARS. However I am more than willing to eat my words!! This book was an excellent follow-up to the first.....in fact it was brilliant!!! I am so pleased that I decided to read this one - al lot of questions answered and twists resolved.

This one picks up precisely where the cliffhanger of Book one left us dangling. Riletta (Riley) Kasonite has been the victim of a bomb attack....but who was the perpetrator? And are they attacking Riley or is this an attack on the Kasonite family? I grew to really like Riletta, she proved to be such a strong young woman, ready to fight for what she believed in. The shocks from the end of book one (which I won't put here - in case there are readers who have not read it yet), would be enough to make any person crumble - but she has chosen to fight with all her might. yes she knows she can no longer have the man she loves, but she is willing to have his friendship - if only he would talk to her.

Drasko and Trent Wolfe, two men who both share Riletta's secret, are also torn apart, one hating her, the other wanting desperately to fix what has been broken. These two brothers hide secrets from each other, that could also tear them part - past history comes to the forefront in their relationship - their father plays a major part in their history.

The introduction of the characters Jayce and Thorne was a touch of brilliance. Their relationships with Riletta are exctly what she needs in her time of being lost. Jayce, her bodyguard, is hired to protect her by her "parents". He is not who he appears to be though, he also hide a secret from Riletta, only to be revealed when the time is right. Thorne, she is amazing, her attitude is hlarious, she just doesn't care and the one liners from her are nothing short of brilliant. But she also is not who she appears to be.

Once again there is angst, tears, laughter, devastation, friendship and love winding its way all through this story. It was such an epic conclusion to this fabulous tale. C.L Masonite's writing style mde it all the more enjoyable, the easy flow and structure enabled the story to have its twists and turns keep me so interested that I was unable to put the book down.

This is definitely a wonderful way to start a writing career. Congratulations on such a wonderful, suspenseful story. I will definitely be reading more of your novels.

FIVE STARS from this converted reader.

Josie's Review 4.5 STARS

Battleground was the best book in this two book series. I enjoyed the first book and was swept away by the Riletta, Drasko and Trent but I couldn’t wait to get my hands this book. I needed to see how this story would turn out and the author did an amazing with this conclusion. I highly recommend you reading the first book before diving into Battleground. This story or the better yet this journey unfolds slowly starting in that book.

I experienced so many highs and lows while reading this book. I’ll admit I had my reservations in book 1 with all the teenage drama but the writing and plot development with that book was just amazing. We pick up where we left off with Riletta and Drasko dealing with a shocking revelation. We seriously see Riletta’s character grow in this book. She’s stronger and a fighter here. She knows things are different for her and Drasko but she’s not willingly to be pushed aside either. Things are pretty dicey for her character and there were times that Drasko actions nearly broke her. She never faltered in her determination to be apart of his life in some way.

I absolutely love that we get Drasko and Trent’s POV’s. We got to see what makes these eccentric and powerful boys the way they are. These 2 boys are literally broken without Riletta in their lives and each will show a vulnerability in this book. We see these boys as mean, cold hearted and calculating in this series and I thought the worse until we were graced with their side of the story. At that point I saw them both in a different light. Drasko was nothing at all what he appeared to be. We see how harsh of a life the boys had under their fathers manipulations. We are introduced to two new characters in this book and they only added to the excitement.

There was so much angst, pain and heartache in this story but there was an even balance of laughter and new found friendships. My heart broke for Drasko and Riletta because there is an intense love and connection between them while they try to deal with the bombshells thrown at them. Riletta isn’t the only keeping secrets, we get to see the dynamics with the Wolfe brothers and I’m glad that Trent stepped up. C.L. Masonite wrote an amazing conclusion, honestly there could be no other way but to conclude their stories the way this author did. The story flowed easily and the twists and turns added to the intrigue and lure of this book. I’m sorry to see these characters go but I’m sure we haven’t seen the last from this author and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Amazing ending!

Battleground is the perfect ending to the Battler series! I couldn't wait to read it after I finished Battler. And it didn't disappoint!

Battleground picks up right after the explosive ending of Battler and follows Riletta, Drasko and Trent after the bombing and the shocking revelations.

I loved the story and couldn't put my Kindle down. Battleground sucked me in from the first page and I couldn't stop reading. It's full of drama and mystery, pain and angst.
I just felt the ending was a little rushed and everything could be better explained.

I loved Riletta, Drasko and Trent. They balance each other very well. And the love between Riletta and Drasko? It broke my heart what was happening between them. But they are all very strong and stubborn. I couldn't help but cheer for them.
I loved Jayce! He is Riletta's bodyguard and he has a secret that involves Riletta. He is very protective and sweet.

Battleground is a great book, full of drama, mystery, pain, and angst. And the twists? They will keep you hooked from the first page!
C.L. Masonite did an amazing job and I can't wait to read more!

Battleground picks up right where Battler left off, with Riletta 'Riley' Kasonite losing the person she loved, Drasko. He and Trent have exiled her, because they believe that she has been keeping dangerous secrets. Now she has a few choices, be silent and live in the shadows, or raze hell and break the kingdom doors down. Riley hasn't ever been a wallflower, and no matter what they throw at her to make her break, she isn't giving in. It's time to unravel all the secrets swirling around her, but when things take a dangerous turn, will anyone have her back?

WOW WOW WOW! I could have not even imagined a better conclusion than what I just experienced. The character development was on point, with a few added in colorful cast of secondaries that I LOVED! C.L. Masonite brilliant writing style hit new levels of awesome with Battleground, and I couldn't get enough! It felt like forever for it to come out, but boy was the impatient wait worth it. She started the story out with a bang, and it never slowed down after, so my heart raced cover to cover. The twists and turns never stopped swirling around, and after many OMG f-bomb moments, I got the answers that I would have never guessed. I'm so glad I got the chance to read this brilliant author, although, she will be hash tagged #EVILWHORE forevermore after the ending of Battler, and I'm excited to see what she tries to kill me with next, so all that's left is to HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Battleground!

This is the conclusion of the Battler Series. This review just like m last is much the same I couldn’t connect with this series at all. It wasn’t because it was a bad series or not well written it just sit with me. The main characters were great as always but the flow and sometimes the atmosphere of the story was not my thing. I think it can be a great series to readers but it just wasn’t my thing. C.l.Masonite wrote this series with a lot of passion and it is displayed in her work whether you liked the story of not you have to agree that this book was well written . I think it was the plot more than anything that threw me off. All in all, I do not regret reading this book and I say if you’re looking for something different then this is the book for you.

Confusing and just ...no

Since when do high school student sleep around and drink so much? Why write a book about teens that act like immature and ridiculous adults. The story jumped all over. Riley/riletta was a pathetic joke. She spend almost entire book crying and continuing to try to be a part of her supposed brothers' lives after they are nasty, cruel and total worthless human beings. So what she lied a little and this Drasko douche just holds a grudge when he lies to everyone, lies to his brother and Riley but he can't forgive others?! I can't stand stupid drama just for drama sake when it adds nothing to the story. Don't bother. This book stinks.

Slight disappointed

I was looking forward to this book. The first story the author had started a really interesting story line, but this book felt rushed.

A new character was introduced which I personally thought could have been its own book with its own story line. However, I think it all hits the fan in like the last two chapters. At one point, everyone is fighting and then the next chapter everyone is one big family. I felt a little lost and confused about what happened because happened so quickly.

This author does have the beginnings to be a really good author.

I had no clue what I was in for when I started reading this Duology by C. L. Masonite! This was beyond epic, action pack, edge of your seat, 0 to 60 in seconds with your emotions, and there's no way to put it down once you start.

This is better then a movie and T.V. Series. My eyes were glued to my Kindle from start to the very end. And oh, what an ending it was. So much mystery and mayhem. You won't want to miss this Duology!
