Lynn Hagen loves writing about the somewhat flawed, but lovable. She also loves a hero who can see past all the rough edges to find the shining diamond of a beautiful heart.
You can find her on any given day curled up with her laptop and a cup of hot java, letting the next set of characters tell their story.
This was book 4 in"The Remus Brothers"series and one of funniest books so far. I Jake Austin wanted was to be loved he is a cat-shifter who comes from a rich family who are all selfish and self centered. He is kidnapped by his brothers boyfriend Bowman who is a hyena-shifter who has kidnapped and drugged his brother Brandon because he wants to steal the family fortune. Jake is forced to shift and a collar is put around his neck which doesn't allow him to turn back into human. William who we met in book one was Evan's friend they worked at the same store is lonely and broke since he quite his job at the store because his boss was hitting on him. He goes to a shelter to adopt a cat after his grandmother says yes he picks Jake who turns out is his mate. While out looking for a job he meets a hot sexy biker Chase "Hound Dog" Remus. Hound never thought he would meet his mate he was happy with hooking up with one night stands men and women until he meets William with the weird cat who is knows is a shifter. While out on a date they run into one of his former partners and it hurts Williams feelings. When Hound goes to say he is sorry the two have sex and a half shifted Jake comes in. Hound also realizes that Jake is also his mate he has two. This was a funny book Jake wants to have sex with Hound while he is still furry and he got his feelings hurt when he declined. William also has a problem with having sex with Jake because he is his cat. When the brothers go and recue Brandon Jake's brother Cross realizes that Brandon is his mate. This was a really good read and the sex was hot. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I can honestly say that I hated this book. It was really interesting in the beginning when he got turned but then everything kind of went to s*** when Hound came into play. It just felt too rushed which you shouldn't do with M/M/M but that's what happened. I didn't really feel anything between Jake and Hound. Even though William was the middle one for them, they should still have some chemistry for each other. I didn't believe when Jake said that he loved William and Hound. It felt more like Jake didn't want to feel left out with how William and Bound obviously felt so strongly for each other. I like sex in a book but there really wasn't any substance to their relationship other than sex. It just could have been better
This was... ok. The whole business of trying to get to the Austin fortune doesn't quite make it up to par. Jake is forced into his cat form and then dropped at an animal shelter to let them kill him.. why not just off him.. as a human.. themselves. It would be clear regardless of how that Jake was deceased. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. And collar.. no explanations on that follows.
Hound... I can see not figuring out right away that the man AND cat he's holding is mates, but they were separate from each other in the same room a few times so why then didn't he figure it out, seeing as he could tell Jake was a shifter. Plus, as tends to happen.. this threesome is not even. HA! Pun intended!! Ahem... so Hound claims William and Jake claims William... we do NOT see the big boys claim each other. There is noise of play to happen between them but that doesn't happen either. My thing is if your GOING to go the threesome route then go ALL THE WAY around. Everyone screws everyone else at least once; then there's the sex train, drilling both ends, and even more 'rare' double up penetration... I guess, its like if you're not partaking of all possibilities then what was the point of having more than one mate?
Nothing personal.. I'm hard on ALL threesomes now..
Rating: 3 stars I did not like Jake or Hound much. Their bickering got really old fast. The only likeable person in this story was William. Overall, it was okay but ultimately the dynamic between two of the MCs let the story down.
So a Cat, a Bear, and a Human walk into a hospital.... Menage stories aren't my favorites, but this story was written in such a humorous fashion that there was so much laughter, that you forget the type of story you are reading. I used to think the first story in Lynn Hagen's Remus Brothers series, JAXXON was my favourite, but now I'm torn between that one and this one, HOUND.
A poor little rich man is abducted, forced into his small Cat form by a magical collar, and taken to an animal shelter. A lonely unemployed Human seeks out a companion to help fill his many lonely hours, as he unsuccessfully searches for a job. A big love 'em and leave 'em Bear shifter passes by a gorgeous guy and almost causes several traffic accidents to go back to talk to him, only to discover it's his mate.
Jake is kidnapped by a cunning Hyena, Bowman (and his far from cunning henchHyenas), who is determined to get a hold of Jake's family's money. But there are other relatives that need eliminating in Bowman's elaborate scheme, Jake among them. But instead of taking him out right there, it seems Bowman doesn't want to dirty his hands so he has his lackeys take the small cat to be euthanized at the animal shelter.
But Jake with his silky black coat and amazing green eyes catches the attention of a depressed young man named William who is seeking a pet to replace the lack of family, friends, and lovers in his life. William appeared in the first book. He'd previously worked in the same drugstore with Evan. I had been anticipating his story, but I never expected it to be so entertaining. Told the cat was different William was enchanted with the animal's ability to seemingly understand what was being said to him. Midnight, as Jake's cat was called proved to be a great listener and cuddler. His only fault was that he was hard headed when it came to be being told what to do. An inexperienced cat owner, William didn't realize that this was a very common cat trait.
Hound as he was nicknamed, or Chase as he revealed immediately to his mate took William out on a date to remember. William ended up back home in bed, but not with Hound, it was an enraged little black spitfire that vowed vengeance as he tried to comfort his crying Human. Through the intervention of others, Hound was given a second chance. He was determined to do right by his mate. He didn't realize the danger his OTHER mate was in.
The three of them ended up going to the Remus Brothers home. To talk, reveal, and get help (and consummate their matings!) I won't tell you anymore. I don't want to ruin the fun of reading this story. I kept thinking, what could possibly happen next? Then it occurred! Well enjoy the entertaining rollercoaster ride. I planned to stop reading two books ago and read another book that I've been anticipating and finally received, but Lynn Hagen has me by the short hairs and refuses to let go. Happy Reading!
I just loved how Hound (Chase) got to have two mates in this book of the series. I felt bad for both William and Jake (kitty cat shifter), since they had such horrible families. I do wish that there was more time for the three of them to develop their relationship dynamic so they'd have had more happy moments between the three of them. However, I still enjoyed the story tremendously, and there's definitely enough danger for them to worry about. This was a very engaging and fun escape. :)
