Bruce Jones is mainly known as a writer-comic book artist, but this collection is strictly horror short stories, albeit in the EC horror comics vein (pun intended). A deluxe trade paperback edition was also published with interior illustrations by Rich Corben.
The photos and scans of the cover illustration by Richard Corben for Twisted Tales, a collection of short stories by Bruce Jones, really doesn't do the picture justice. So much so, that having finished this book, I'm going to see if I can find a copy of the trade paperback that featured additional illustrations by Corben for the stories. I'd always thought of Jones as a horror writer, and that his best work was in that genre, however, I enjoyed the soft SF stories included in this paperback as much as the horror stories. It is a real shame that this title has unfortunately gone out of print.
Recently I came across those old horror comic sampler from the 80s. Opened it and the stories had me hooked like back then. Alluring women, mysterious creatures, old hags... everything you would expect from a great horror comic. Reminded me a bit on Tales From The Crypt... really recommended stuff!
