The Media Murders by Lee Giminez is the latest of the author’s fast-paced thrillers featuring FBI agent John Ryan. Along with his cohort Erin Welch, he sets out to uncover a suspected conspiracy behind the recent murders of high-profile news reporters. Evidence points to the possibility that the national media may be compromised by a shadowy group intent on seizing absolute political power in America. The trail leads to a mysterious figure known as Scorpion who may be the architect of a sinister plot called Operation One Voice. John and Erin find themselves reaching out to White House Chief of Staff Vicka Stark in an attempt to determine if the seditionists have infiltrated the Capitol itself. Vicka may hold the key to uncovering the truth – only time is running out as the conspiracy gains momentum. This intriguing plot poses numerous questions implied in today’s headlines, and Lee Giminez winds them tightly around a suspenseful tale you won’t forget.

Look out, James Patterson. Lee Gimenez is coming for you! Fast-paced action with complex, believable characters. Lee sucks you in from the very first page and makes you hang on for a wild ride. A story that could have been ripped from today's headlines. A gritty, noir detective story in a modern style. This is my first J.T. Ryan Thriller, but it won't be my last! Recommended.

As the story opens, a small private jet is blow out of the sky. It turns out that a Pulitzer Prize winning reporter was on board that plane. The FBI’s ADIC Erin Welch hears about this through her old friend Mark Parker. He suspects foul-play and doesn’t think the NTSB can be trusted. Parker asks her to look into it. Without official FBI involvement in the case, Erin Welch finds it difficult to get answers on the crash so she retains J.T. Ryan. Working as a private investigator, Ryan has a lot more freedom to harass and intimidate people in order to get the truth. Welch and Ryan have worked well together in the past even if she’s not thrilled with some of his heavy-handed ways. Ryan tries to meet with Erin Welch’s friend, Mark Parker, but is told by his assistant that he’s late. Ryan then goes to the airfield where the downed plane is located. The NTSB agent gives him a hard time telling him the investigation will show this to be an accident although members of his team are still removing pieces of debris from the sight. After roughing up the agent, Ryan learns that the reporter he wanted to meet is dead, an apparent suicide. Erin Welch and J.T. Ryan are both convinced there’s something going on and it’s not good.
As they dig deeper into the case, great pressure is exerted on them. Homeland Security takes over the cases, and Erin Welch is told to stand down. She asks J.T. to continue looking into these cases. As soon as he gets some information, he, too, is threatened with having his license pulled. When attempts are made on his life, Erin Welch has him leave the Country and travel to Spain to meet up with Rachel West, a CIA Operative.
With three super-investigators working the case it becomes bloody but not easier. They are thwarted at every turn as they try to find out about O.O.V. and learn the identity of Scorpion. Who is the puppet master pulling the strings?
I’ve read and enjoyed several of Lee Gimenez’s books, but this is the best of the best. There’s action from start to finish with the strong characters we’ve all grown to love: Erin Welch, J.T. Ryan and Rachel West. This is one of those books you definitely don’t want to miss.

Erin Welch, ADIC for the FBI field office in Atlanta, gets a phone call from an old friend, a reporter. He insists he has news for Erin about mysterious deaths of reporters all chasing the same explosive story. He's afraid he's next. He was right. Erin takes her suspicions to her boss about it and finds out she can't pursue the case per orders from even higher than her boss. Erin, bothered by her lock out of the case, calls on J.T. Ryan, a free lance PI that Erin has worked with, and trusts, to give her a hand. Wrong move. Soon, as usual, Ryan and Welch find they're in over their heads and are repeatedly warned to stay away. But that's a challenge that Ryan has never backed down from. Gimenez once again takes us to a story that truly could be "ripped from the headlines" with twists, turns and an explosive finish.

Lee writes in a style similar to Baldacci, and they share a taste for suspenseful thrillers with lots of action. The Media Murders is another in his J. T. Ryan FBI series. I applaud Lee for his clear action-packed writing style that is certain to appeal to the male readers. There are some graphic sexual depictions, so I suggest it as an adult-only read. It is a long but comfortable read broken into rapid-fire chapter breaks. The good news: Lee leaves little doubt another J. T. Ryan story is in the works already.

When David Matthews, a media man dies, his partner on a big story, Mark Parker, goes to Erin Welch. She is in charge of a lot of agents, but she calls on J.T. Ryan to investigate Before he can find out much information, Mark Parker is also dead in what is an apparent suicide. The investigation is going to take readers on a suspense filled adventure that is going to take them into corrupt people in some high places. This is a well told story that invites readers in and does't let them go in a compelling, suspenseful, mystery thriller. Well done and a great read.

News media under attack

An interesting story of the possible destruction of the independent press and what it means to our freedom. But J. T. Ryan is ready to get to the truth. I am bothered by suggestions that torture is effective, but otherwise found the book compelling.

An intriguing story that really makes you think about the spin our government puts on news stories. This was my first time to read this series, and I enjoyed it very much. I liked the characters and the pace of the story and plan to go back and read other stories in the series.

Food for thought....

This book is written in a way that you could think that the happenings in the story could be part of real history. Made me stop and think hmmmmm. The characters are very believable and their actions often had me holding my breath to see what was going to happen next. It will be interesting to see what J.T. Ryan gets into next.
