Isabella Anders isn't ready to accept that her mother is guilty of murder, and with the help of Kai, she might be able to find out the truth.
Over the last month, Kai’s feelings for Isa have grown. He knows he’s in love with her and will do just about anything to protect her. But by helping Isa, he’s putting his own life at risk.
Kai isn’t the only one in danger, though.
Isa is being stalked by someone who knows what really happened the day her mother was accused of murder, and they’ll do just about anything to keep her from discovering the truth.
Jessica Sorensen is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author from the snowy mountains of Wyoming. When she's not writing, she spends her time reading and hanging out with her family.
I feel like I’ve been waiting for the longest time for the conclusion to Isabella Ander’s story. It’s finally here. The Year of Second Chances is the third and final book in the Sunnyvale series. There were questions I needed answered (they were! Yay!) and I really really needed my guy, Kai, to get the girl. I won’t spoil that for you, though.
Isa is living with her Grandma Stephy after her father and step-monster, Lynn, all but kicked her out. She has questions about her mom. Someones been following her, and someone else has been harassing her at school. She’s stressed, but she has Kai. Kai who is an amazing friend to her, but wants to be more. Kai is there for Isa no matter what. He helps her find the answers she needs, and protects her when it all hits the fan. Kai one of the best hero’s Sorensen has written. I adore him. I love Isa too. She’s tough, and is just overall a cool girl.
There was so much drama at the end, my head was spinning! By the end I really wished we had more time with the couple being a couple and a little less drama. Still, I really did enjoy this series as a whole and I’m glad I finally got to see how it all turned out! All three of the books are quick reads with an endearing heroine and a fantastic hero. I give this one 3.5 stars, but the series as a whole is a 4-4.5 star series. Recommended for readers of YA (bordering on NA) that enjoy a little suspense with their YA romance.
***please please finish this book. I need them together. I need to find out what's going on! I'm so sad I have to wait. I normally wait until a series is finished to start it but I didn't check before hand. Now I'm freaking out because this doesn't even have a release date to put in my phone's calendar.***
Review
What I liked: Isa- she really is cute and funny. Kai- he's hott and very protective of her psychically and emotionally. Over all story- a few blow up moments were great. I love drama, especially of this nature. I know thats a short list but it it really didn't suck. I just don't want to give too much away by writing my likes descriptively.
What I didn't like: I'm disappointed because I felt like it took FOR-EVA for the H and h to get together. After reading the two other books of them circling each other I was so ready for them to be together. Also to have a little bit more kissing. 90% of the time they almost kiss or almost have a moment her gram interrupts them. It's the last book Jess, I WANTED MORE. O_O The book felt soooo short. It didn't take me long to read at all and I'm not that fast of a reader. I liked the blow up at the end, but it could have been done better. I felt like I didn't get the closure I wanted with most of the characters. For instance The dad. I hoped for an interaction between them at the end. I also wanted to see an interaction between the h and her childhood crush Kyler. He also felt a bit like a different character in this. Spoiler. It gives a big part away. Not that you don't already see in coming from the beginning. With it being the last book the author could have done better. Especially with how much I love A LOT of her other books. It almost seems like she was just trying to get it out of the way. Done and over with. I read this one on KindleUnlimited. I was going to buy them all on paperback once this on is out in paperback but Idk if I will now. I thought it was going to be a favorite.
Gran lectura.
With the third book in the Sunnyvale series, Jessica Sorensen delivers another emotional story. I feel like this series has a very simple style to it. It’s really about the emotions in the narration. With all the terrible things that have been happening to Isabella, this book is really about trying to find a way to deal with everything.
The romance thus plays a healing role in Isabella’s life, making it more significant. I feel like Sorensen’s books have really simplified over the years and the conflicts tend to be a little more personal. It makes for a very easy read that you can finish in one sitting. Therefore, I would highly suggest reading the series close together so that you can get that richer experience from the books.
This is such a freaking good book! I FINALLY got the answers that I needed! I feel though, that the story was dragged on a bit. Nothing gets answered until the end of the book and even though it makes you go crazy and read the book entirely too fast, it will also drive you mad.
The Year of Second Chances is the conclusion is the Sunnyvale series. And man have we been waiting on this ending for quite some time.
I have some mixed feelings on this book but overall I really enjoyed it. I will try to explain myself without giving any poignant details away.
We know that Isa is learning to deal with the news of her mom being a murder on top of the shit life she has been living until recently. Kai has been by her side since she returned home from her trip overseas and has been a constant positive in her life along with her grandma and Indigo.
I love the interactions with Kai and Isa. They both are unsure how to react to one another when it comes to certain parts of their relationship but they have no problems being each other's best friend. And these two go through ALOT together - good and bad.
The one thing I didn't like was how rushed everything seemed at the end. I think parts of the story could have been developed a bit more such as her relationship with Isa and her mom; details on what happens to her dad, etc. We do find out what happens to them, but it's just brief words and that left me feeling flat.
But overall, the book turned out really good. We got the answers we wanted and learned the reasons behind everything. Another great YA series.
Just a little exchange between Kai and Isa to show you how cute they are
" That's so not fair. You're going to kick my butt." "Now that's no way to start out a competition." He tsks at me, looking as though he's enjoying this way too much. "Where's your optimism?" I hitch a finger over my shoulder. "It's back on the practice floor along with the crap-load of splattered paintballs I accidentally shot on the floor." He struggles not to laugh.
I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review. Isabella Anders is a sweet girl, whose life changed completely when she found out some things about her family, specifically her mother.
Kai Meyers is a "bad boy" looking guy, whose Isa's friend and is helping her to solve the mystery that is her life at the moment.
Isa is being followed by a blue car with a Superman Sticker, also she's receiving threatening text message from a unknown sender, which is very creepy and scary. She's trying to act like is not affecting her when in reality it is.
This was a great end for the series. Even tho I would have loved if the book was a little longer. I didn't want to get to the end of Isa and Kai. I loved their characters. Even tho Kai was in some troubles, he's the perfect guy. I loved how protective he was of her. You could see how much he loved her. And Isa was really confused about her feelings for the Meyers' brothers, but that made the story even more interesting.
I couldn't believe the outcome. I mean I had my suspicions of who was the unknown text sender, but I thought I was wrong. Although there's one that I couldn't believe.
I loved the end. Finally this poor girl had her happy ending, after years and years of not being appreciated in her family. She found the people who truly loved her. I loved Indigo and Grandma Stephy. They always supported Isa, and were there for her. That's just how awesome they are.
I truly recommend it. The whole series. Is full of mystery, love. The stories are very well written. They have a great sequence. Jessica always does a great job, she never disappoints.
*Note* The Year of Second Chances is the concluding book in Jessica Sorensen's Sunnyvale/Isabella Anders series - you do need to read The Year I Became Isabella Anders and The Year of Falling in Love first.
We get a lot of action and romance in this instalment which of course means lots of Isa, Kai & the always comical Grandma Stephy.
Isa has already gone through a lot of changes in the first two instalments but my favourite element of this book was getting to see her stand up for herself and demand answers. Isa isn't prepared to be lied to anymore and although she deals with events in typical Isa nice gal fashion, it was interesting to see her challenge the liars head on.
I'm a big Kai fan and kept hoping he'd FINALLY say something to her. I have to be honest and admit that he did test my patience at times - dude is certainly good at dodging questions but he's still a fab BBF...
Oh the drama! The story is full of angst, but we do get some answers. My cynical mind did find a few things a little convenient but I was pleased with the ending and have enjoyed Isa's story.
4 Stars in my Sky!
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!
Jessica will leave you on the edge of your seat and guessing until the very end.
I loved the plot and the characters created. The chemistry was strong and the banter was fun. There were a couple things I wish she would have filled us in on but other then that I really liked the ending.
(Kai, Kayden, Kyler...)
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST SERIES!!! I've read all three books and it was so good! I'm generally a pretty tough critic when it comes to books (to give it a full star review), but the story, writing, etc. deserved it. There were a couple errors in this series (I've read all 3 in a day so I apologize for not recalling which ones), but they do not detract from the reading. For those who get detracted from a story because of spelling/grammar errors, you're good. Compared to other books Jessica Sorensen has written, the length was good. It had a good ending for a new adult/young adult book.
Ohh, I knew it was going for that route... Err, so it was kind of short, convenient, and predictable but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I appreciated the Isa-Kai moments because they're truly adorable together. :) #TeamKai all the way~ I still feel like there are some loose ends somewhere, but seeing as there's actually a fourth book, I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
Slightly less enjoyable than the previous two books just because I felt there wasn’t any depth to the antagonists (also I found their motivations a bit hard to believe - I liked it better when they were a mystery), no redeeming qualities for her father/Lynn/Hannah. At least there was no gratuitous sex scene. But the plot did get a bit out of hand. Kidnapping? Fire? Hmmm. Rely on character development, not contrived situations. Still enjoyed it a lot, and it was loads better than some romances

Off course this book was amazing. I'm convinced Jessica Sorensen may actually harness unicorn rainbow magic because everything she writes instantly goes to my "favorites" list! Isa & Kai are perfect for each other. From the beginning of this series to the end you're unable to put the book down. And of course the HEA was so amazing! Isa & Kai definitely deserved to have one!
This series is the best I have read in a long time. One book flowed seamlessly to the next. The characters were well developed as was the plot. Once I started reading, I couldn't put the book down and was just glad that all of the books were available. I really like Jessica Sorensen and this will definitely keep me reading her work.
Love KAI and how he is working to better himself. Isa and Kai just work! Wasn't pleased with how QUICKLY the author wrapped everything up. Really, had so many details throughout the series and then , BAM....here is how it all wraps up in just a few pages.
