Comanche Girl Prayer The year of 1890 a strong faith to go to Texas to teach children in hiding. She is only nineteen, what an undertaking. Saloon Girl Darla tired of the life she was living, goes and now finds herself in a house of women of the night. She is determined and how she makes changes. A favorite of how her new faith guiding her. Looking at the hardship of women in the 1890's, they were still almost a child, yet having to make decisions as adult, and the hard changes that would occur. Difficult to read in someways, of how they had to do what was needed to survive Given audio also. was good for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
The Texas Women of Spirit is a trilogy where one book flows into the next telling the story of three girls and how they overcome obstacles and find happiness in the Texas wilderness.
The first book in the series is The River Girl's Song and tells the story of Zilla Bright and how she fights to keep the family farm, raise her infant baby brother and find happiness with Wylder Eckhart.
The second book is about Wyler's sister Sonnie Eckhart and her journey to become a school teacher to in a group of illegal Native Americans living in North Texas off the reservation. She faces many dangers and find her happiness with Lone Warrior, a strong Kiowa warrior that saves her and finds his way back to God in The Comanche Girl's Prayer.
The final book of the trilogy is The Saloon Girl's Journey, the story of Darla and how she leaves her former life and finds her way to safety and happiness at Ma Down's house doing good works in Dallas along with Ethan Downs. It is full of adventure, humor and interesting characters she meets in her travels.
I enjoyed all three books, each for a different reason and look forward to the next book in the series.
Three books, following the hard lives of three friends in the Texas area in the late 1890ies. Three good Christian romances; I do not know enough about the history to really say if the author - as she assures the reader - has done extensive research, but from where I stand, some occurrences or actions by the protagonists seemed to be a little far-fetched to me. But as I said, I do not know enough about this history or this area. The characters were very likeable, the narration style fluid and keeping the plot going nicely along. Not a cowboy versus Native Indian story with lots and lots of bloodshed, not nail-biting tension as in an adventure story perhaps, but nice and heartwarming stories of how to survive in a hard country and in hard times, and still stay in your faith.
These books were very well written and the characters were well developed. The characters were interwoven throughout all 3 books, but they could also be read as stand alone. The faith, hard work and perseverance that it took to live, love and trust thru the time period of these books shows forth. There is enough suspense written in to keep you intrigued as well.
The narration was done very well.
I received a free copy of this from the author and I am voluntarily leaving this review.
I throughly enjoyed reading this book series. Zillia, then Soonie, and finally Darla. There adventures felt true to life. There was some grammar problems, she needed better proof readers. These are clean stories, with love that didn't get explicit. I was happy about that. Anyone reading these stories will love them.
The characters in all three stories were well developed and lent an air of anticipation to make one feel compelled to continue reading. I have read the excerpt for book four and will definitely purchase it so I can lean more about these courageous women.
The characters come to life as the author describes the scenery with great finesse. Once again the mercies and love of God are demonstrated even though DARLA has a sordid past. Love wins again!
I like books that keep your attention throughout the whole book. This one did. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes good Christian fiction. I gave it this rating because of how it drew my attention .
Each book filled with an exciting journey of a strong woman & the men they fall in love with. Enjoying this Christian author, she is amazingly talented. Looking forward to other books she has.
I really enjoyed these stories a lot. These stories involve the same girls as they grow up.one a white girl, one native American. So many prejudices. Well written, great descriptions, dialog, not too preachy.
This series of cozy books will not leave the reader feeling uncomfortable with the romances. Each book invites the reader into the lives of brave heroines who trust God to be with them in times of hardship.
All three stories were wonderful!! Soonie and Zillia in the first book..... Soonie and her adventures in the second book. And Darla and Lisbeth and Ethan in the third. Read them and enjoy!!
Well written, interesting characters with depth growing in God's grace. Looking forward to seeing more by this author. Hard situations handled with humor and compassion.
These were quick and easy read that were wholesome. Values were displayed by the characters in such a creative way. I love historical fiction and these were great!
I enjoyed the stories. It's nice to read entertaining stories that are not full of bad language and explicit sex. These stories are clean but still have drama, excitement, and romance.
I read this book in 2017 & really enjoyed it. Seeing it again reminds me that I need to read it again. Not many books catch my attention to the point where I want to reread them, but this one did.
