Cole is sexy, strong, and powerful enough to protect me…if he didn’t hate my guts.
Peter was an amazing first lover. He was gentle, kind, generous, respectful…everything I’d ever dreamed of in a man. He promised to take care of me, and with his family’s billions, I knew he’d be able to.
But now he’s dead.
And I’m alone, about to have his baby.
All I want from Peter’s family are answers – about Peter’s death, about the creepy bald man who’s been following me, about the other half of my child’s family.
Oh, but if you ask his brother Cole, I’m just some greedy gold-digger trying to profit from Peter’s death.
Cole might have his brother’s handsome face and blonde hair, but…well...he’s kind of an asshole. Where Peter was sweet, caring, and charming, Cole is military-rigid, angry, and judgmental. He keeps offering me help in this condescending way, like I can’t take care of myself just because I’m broke and pregnant.
Well, I might not have much, but I still have my dignity. And I don’t need any help from a jerk like him…no matter how hot he thinks he is.
Cole
Amber is beautiful, smart, funny…and carrying my brother’s baby.
I really don’t know what Peter saw in this girl. I guess she’s pretty gorgeous, but she’s just some random, small-town nobody. And looking at the state of her life (dead-end job, ratty apartment, multicolored rustmobile), I have to wonder if she hasn’t had her eye on my family’s money for a long time.
I know what Peter would do…but I don’t feel any need to rush to her rescue. I mean, my sister wants me to keep Amber safe from her mysterious stalker, but that’s it. I swear. I’m not going to be drawn in by her big doe eyes and lovely face – and definitely not by her stubbornness and sharp tongue.
But yeah…I’d say keeping an eye on her is going to be harder on me than I thought.
Good story, with really good characters. The flow of writing was sometimes hard to follow what with different pov' s. But all in all not a bad book. The story does come to a conclusion as far as Amber and Coles romance, but not the mystery or who killed Peter and where is Luke? So many unanswered questions, hopefully the next book picks up where this one ended. Box set right now only 99¢…
Awesome romantic suspense. Cole recently came home after years as a Marine. His sister who was also in the military, Megan, started Dragon Security. They work with law enforcement, protection details, investigations etc. Recently their older brother Peter died and a few months later Amber arrives on their doorstep with a surprise and mystery. The characters are fantastic as is the storyline. I look forward to reading other books by Ms. Sinclair.
This is for all the books in this series. This book split me, rolled me, spit me out, engulfed me, confounded me, comforted me, at times confused me, made me cry and so much more!! I have read most of Ms Sinclair's series and this one...this one..is a twenty star. Oh my gosh, so much happened, emotions all over the place. Well done, Ms Sinclair, well done.
The blurb does not do the book justice. Rather than the cheap tacky romance the blurb suggests, the book is well written with fairly deep characters and an intriguing plot. The mystery is not solved in this book but continues in the series (I hope!). I look forward to reading more of Sinclair’s books.
So I actually didn’t finish. I quit reading at chapter 22 because I could not get past some scenes. It was weird when Cole was perving on Amber while she was breast feeding but I could not get past him touching her under her pants while she was breastfeeding/holding her sleeping baby! That’s weird as hell. I was loving the story but just could not get past that.
Suspense, action, steamy hot scenes!!! 🔥🔥🔥 This book has it all! Was it Murder? Was it an Accident? Cole and Amber were an accidental match turned into a match meant to be ❤❤ Serious attention grabber! I could not put it down once I started!
Good Series. Had a little trouble getting started but once I got a little bit of the way into the first book I really began to appreciate and enjoy it. The entire series is definitely worth reading!
3.5 Fast pace beach type read. Started with book1 of the series as I've got a few in my kindle library and really want to make the effort to read the books I own.
Terrible!! AT 23% AND YOUR AT THE END! its going to be short and dragged story thats released over over numerous books or as a box set. so the reader is having to pay over the odds to get to the end. Its disgusting, milkI found it boring and rushed. I wont buy any more or box sets. sorry
Amber is a waitress in a small town a high school dropout, eight months pregnant and alone. The father of her baby was a one night stand, a CEO of a telecommunication and software company and died in a car accident several months ago. There has been someone following her lately so she goes to the sister of her baby's father who has a security company. She tells them of her pregnancy, and her stalker, and gives a business card of her brothers to her stating Peter said if I ever needed help to contact his family. Cole is the younger brother assigned to provide security for her until they find out who the stalker is. He is sure she is a gold digger.
Great start to a new series. Like the mystery aspect that seems like it will continue on through out the series. I was a little surprised how long the book was, but how quick the storyline seemed to be coming to an end, till I realized the author had included 3 more of her books in their. Which was an awesome bonus.
Thats a really great read. Couldn't read it fast enough to see what was gonna happen next. And it really opens it up for a great next book. Looking forward to reading lots more by G Sinclair.
This was a great book! I loved the suspense the hate love romance and how complicated their relationship was because I mean really what relationship is perfect! This book had me on the end of my seat waiting to see what would happen next!
I was underwhelmed by Cole and Amber and did not particularly like their romance. The plot of the story as a whole did not drag me in. The only point of interest in this story for me was Megan, but of course her story is only included in the box set.
IMO great start to what I hope will be a great series.
The characters have realistic situations. It's not all peaches and there's more than enough grit to keep me engrossed. Some scenes felt stunted and in need of a little growth. But definitely something that I will invest in.
