Too formulaic and formal and not applicable to a lot of careers today ... but there are a number of insights that breed other ideas, if you put the work into modifying them.

Basic

The book is extremely basic and does not provide any actionable information. Therefore I do not recommend this book for other people to read and waste their time.

Not sure about standing out but it helped me create a well structured draft for my cover letter. Good for noobsters inexperienced with cover letters.

This is exactly what I needed to write my first cover letter

This is a great book not only because it was well written, but also because it explains why cover letters are still relevant. I used to think that cover letters were obsolete. So many things are digital now. But the author explains, in a very interesting way, how to write a cover letter and what mistakes I need to avoid. I also like the fact that the author did not explain cover letters to me like I'm an idiot. I hate when business books come across like the author is some all-powerful wizard. This book doesn't do that. It did give me actionable advice and explained why.

It was pretty good, I learned a lot about cover letters that I didn’t know before. However, my teacher said some of the information in this book is a little outdated. Like where they say to lie about where you live when you put the region in your job. I think stuff like that can be useful but with a grain of salt.
