I'm calling this quits at 50%, or rather I am tapping out before I decide to hurl myself off the nearest bridge....

description

The first 50% of this book was DEPRESSING as hell. Heck we spend the first chapter of it with Buck whining about his life and his kids and his job. We hear OVER and OVER and OVER again about how much he misses his wife (who died 7 years previously). Now I am not one that is generally bothered by the whole "dead ex" thing in books, but I wanted to smack Buck and say " Move the F@CK on Bucky Boy..." The dude even has his dead wife's bathrobe still hanging on the door.

I could have gotten over that less than impressive introduction to our hero, had he been a stand up guy. But NOOOO this dude is a self centered asshole. Here are a few quotes about how he reacts when he sees the heroine in trouble...

description
"Look, I’m not interested in investing my shitty afternoon in your business when I don’t have a pot to piss in myself. I’m not trying to be rude, but I need to get out of here."
description

That was in response to the heroine's ex (an ex that beat her almost near to death) showing up at her work and threatening her and her mentioning wanting to sell her bar. Stand up guy you are Buck...

description
"The last thing I want is some broad’s drama, especially her psycho ex-husband"
description

That was in response to the heroine BEGGING him to let her and her son come stay with him for the night to hide from he ex...

description

On top of ALL that everyone in this book (first 50%) is either a douchnoodle or a depressing asshat. The heroine comes across as pathetic and desperate. Buck's children (especially the daughter) come across like spoiled assholes. His house is described as a sh!thole (dog crap on the floor...dishes everywhere...empty beer cans lying around (oh ya, Buck is a bit of a drunk as well...delightful our Buck)

Apparently I went off on a little tangent there, suffice it to say this just didn't work for me AT ALL. I'm sure there will be others that embrace it fully, so don't let my ranting deter you ya, I lied...totally let it deter you.

SALT WATER WOUNDS: Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives' Buck & (Alice) Perry

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Eight years later widowed Buck and his 6 children that range from twenty-six to seventeen in age, are still struggling to come to grips with the death of their mother and dearly beloved wife who passed away from cancer, to the point where Buck has left things as they were as a shrine in the bedroom they once shared and has not moved on.

"Live your life, Buck.
Love the kids.
As long as you love them the rest will
fall into place.
Don't let yourself go.
I want you to be happy."

This is a refreshing read away from the angst and drama with both characters being older than what I generally read. Easy to get into, the author has such a knack with bringing her characters to life.

After stepping in to protect Perry from her ex husband he offers her and her son a safe haven for the night.

Perry has made no qualms that's she's attracted to Buck, many advances which were turned down have not cooled the attraction she feels towards him, she knows he feels the same way, he just needs to let go of his deceased wife and move forward.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Alice Perry is desperate to sell her bar, but there’s always a catch to any good deal she makes a proposition to Buck, keeping in mind that if he accepts it will also offer her and her son protection from her abusive ex.

He sees me as a lost soul he needs to help
because it makes him feel less useless.

As you delve further into this book your mind and heart will be rooting for these two to come together as one. Such a beautifully heart felt book about heartbreak and loss and when the time is right to let of the past and move on and heal.

He's the kind of man I've waited my whole life for .

Letting go of the past can be hard.

Salt water wounds is a heartwarming story, told in dual pov's. It's one of those books you can curl up with, relax and absorb.

While Buck Wallace tortures himself with the idea of moving forward following his wife's death, stuck in the past after 7 years from his loss, Perry cant get away from her ex fast enough.

Buck is a down to earth guy, was in a marriage for 20 years and is a father of six grown up children he's a lovable guy living in heart break.

Perry is sassy, a local bar/ restaurant owner who knows what she wants and after years of flirting with Buck decides to take the plunge, not taking no for an answer, it's her mission to help Buck move on, only her past returns to claim her.

A heartwarming story with real life situations, intimate moments, angst, humour all leading to a hea.

With Buck having 6 adult children, his daughter getting involved with a biker, the twin boys, I'm hoping more in this series will be their stories and I'm looking forward to more.

Perry started out pretty manipulative and I didn't like that.
Buck made himself out to be a dead beat loser.
I couldn't figure out their ages.
Bristol needed a smack and Nick was just stupid.
This book was weird. It wasn't long at all but it took me forever to read it. I just wasn't interested in any of the characters.

Buck was still way too hung up on his dead wife. She's been dead 7yrs but he makes it seem like it was yesterday. She was too involved in the story that I felt like it was too unbelievable how he moved on.

It's no secret that I am a huge fan of J4, so when I heard she was coming out with a new series, I was almost giddy! The Oyster Cove Series is about The Wallace family, which consists of: head of the family, and widower, Buck Wallace, and his brood of six mostly grown kids. Salt Water Wounds is Buck's story. When we first meet Buck, he is in a bad place. He can't seem to get over the death of his wife, his kids are all kind of a mess, especially his youngest and only daughter, Bristol; and he really is just drifting through life. If he's not out on the water working, he can usually be found at the local watering hole, The Rusty Clam, owned by Alice Perry. Perry has her own set of demons that she battles every day, the biggest is being, trying to keep her teenage son away from his monster of a father.
Buck and Perry's story is filled with drama and heartbreak in typical J4 fashion. They have a mess to go through, to find thier HEA. I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't my favorite of hers. It felt like there was almost too much drama packed into one book, and not enough of those special moments to break it up. But I am looking forward to seeing who gets the next book, and what's in store for this family.

I'm really torn on how to write this review. While I enjoyed the story, I really didn't like either of the main characters. I found Buck to be too "woe is me, my wife of 20 years died" and Perry/Alice/Ally a bit of a conniving bit$h. These two have danced around each other for years and finally act upon it...the evening doesn't end the way either of them expected. While I understood Buck have trouble moving on or really just living life without his wife, I didn't feel at anytime connected to him. I found it hard to believe that he was suddenly able to make the changes he did (housecoat etc). We learn something happened to Perry early on in life, it really doesn't explain her attitude. I did have the wrong person guilty, but it was easy to figure out what had happened. I also expected more of an issue with Bristol - although to be fair, she was judged a bit unfairly (tattoo - loved it!) While I thoroughly enjoy JF's stories, this will not go down as one of my favorites...but I probably will read more of the series as for me it was just the two main characters that I didn't care for.

Perry/Alice was the WORST heroine I have ever seen in a book. I wasn’t a huge fan of Buck but she was awful! She manipulated her first husband into marriage and then did the same thing to Buck. She was pathetic. The second she meets Bristol she starts lecturing her?!?! Ummm I agree the girl was awful but who says they are going to hand a 17 year old their ass 5 seconds after they meet?!? I didn’t like one thing about her! I really enjoyed the idea of the book (hence the 1 start) but not the characters at all!!!

~ 5 Healing Stars ~

Well Jenn Foor has done it again!! She has given us a great start to another family series I think many will fall in love with.

Salt Water Wounds is the first in Jenn’s newest series called Oyster Cove. I think this series is off to a great start. I loved all the characters we met in this book. I look forward to reading all of their stories. The pace and flow of this story is well done. And in Jenn Foor tradition, she is able to pull at every emotion a reader has. This story does touch on some serious topics that might cause some triggers for some readers. I will say that I think this book is probably the most heart wrenching of her stories. What both the Hero and heroine have endured just tore at my heart strings. What I really enjoyed about this book, that was different from her Mitchell Family Series, is that the Hero and heroine are older in age. They are in their mid-forties. I was nice following a mature couple.

In this book we follow the healing process of both Buck and Perry (Alice). These two characters are seriously broken when we first meet them, but I loved how they overcame their sorrow and wounds to become better people in the end. Buck is a heartbroken widower who lost his wife to cancer over 7 years ago, but hasn’t been able to figure how to move on and still honor her memory. Perry is a woman who is broken is so many ways. What she endured as a child was horrific and then what she suffered at the hands of her abusive husband, it’s no wonder she has serious trust issues. Perry is the bar owner of the place that Buck has frequented over the past 7 years, so they have become friends so to say. Perry has always made passes at Buck in hopes to tempt him. Finally 7 years later Buck is ready to step out of the box and try to move on. Will Perry be able to open up Buck’s heart?? Will she be able to overcome her own personal demons?? Read this book to find out.

We also meet Buck’s six children, that range in age from 26-17 years old, 5 Boys and 1 Girl. I am guessing that the other books in this series will feature each of these children. I’ll be interested in the direction she takes these characters.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of an adult contemporary romance that is a heart wrenching and emotional story of healing and moving on. Also if you are a fan of Jenn Foor’s, then you won’t want to miss this new series!!!

Thank you so very much Ms.Foor for sending me a copy of Salt Water Wounds!! I am honored and grateful!! :)

4.5 Don't let the Past define you Stars!!

This was my first time reading Ms.Foor's work and I adored it!! Salt Water Wounds is about how hard it is to move on after the passing of an other half, learning to love again, and messing up / being human along the way. It's beautiful, frustrating, realistic, heartbreaking, steamy, and intense. This is a different type of romance in the best way. I liked that it focused on family hardships and all. It shows that not everything goes according to plan but it's how we face our fears and keep moving forward. My heart broke for both of these characters and I was so thankful that it was Dual POV. Buck and Alice's story isn't perfect it's truthful but theirs show what it means to fight for the person you care about. Ms.Foor created a story that was a rollercoaster ride and I couldn't get enough of it!! I can't wait to check out more of her work! :)

Buck Wallace was a character that was a waterman. Losing his wife destroyed him and his children. Numbing the pain and trying to be the best father he can to his six children is all he cares about. Dating was always out of the question until one woman makes him want more and changes everything. I hated the pain and heartache that he went through it broke me to read it all. Even though some of his actions made me want to pull my hair out I understood where he was coming from. I hoped that in the end he'd take a leap of faith and learn to love again.

Alice Perry was a character who worked as bartender. Her past haunted her daily from people to memories. She wanted nothing more than a fresh start for her and her son. Not getting attached to men was easy after what she endured until Buck Wallace comes into her life. I liked the fact that she stood her ground. She was kind and very determined. I was shocked my the things she admitted and I wanted to hug her. I adored how much she loved her son. In the end I hoped she'd be able to live without fear and find love.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a read that's unique and will make you emotional. It's deep yet heartwarming at the same time. This is a fantastic introduction into this world!! I cannot wait until the next book in the Oyster Cover Series comes out!! I sure hope we'll see some familiar faces as well!! If you haven't already One-Clicked Buy it Today!! Enjoy!! 4.5 Stars all around!! :)

Healing Wounds!!!

Buck Wallace lost his wife Layla to cancer. He found himself a single father raising their six children for the past eight years. He did the best he could, sure he knew that in a way he was failing his children but he was all they had left and vice versa.

Buck was a waterman, he ran the family business with his sons but they still weren't as close as he wished them to be. His children didn't listen nor respect him, he was lonely; missing his late wife to help him especially when it came to their youngest daughter, Bristol.

Alice Perry was the owner of The Rusty Clam, the local bar. She was a single mother to a teenage son, her ex husband was abusive. Her father helped her out when she nearly lost everything a few years back.

When her ex showed back up threatening her, Perry did the only thinkg she could. She asked Buck for help sure enough the man was reluctant at first whuch was understandable in the end he caved in cause it was the first time he saw Perry in such a vulnerable state.

Perry had a crush on Buck Wallace for the longest of time, she occasionally flirted with him but he never made a move on her. They had a remarkable chemistry as they spend more time together, Buck found out things about Perry that interested him in ways he hadn't been about another woman since Layla's death.

To help keep her son safe Perry was looking to sell her establishment, there was just a tiny problem. Her bar could only be sold to a family since Buck wanted to buy the bar, Perry made him an proposal that was a win-win for them both.

Once again he refused her but his refusal was haunting him, Buck and Perry gave into their attraction. There were some heartbroken moments after yet it was wonderful to see Buck fight for Perry. The way Buck's children had his back showed how much they love him even though he thought he was failing them.

SALT WATER WOUNDS is the first book in Jennifer Foor's new family series name OYSTER COVE . It was enthralling, marvelous, fun and filled with love.

Mrs Foor has a way of getting to you where it counts the most, in the heart. You connect with the characters, they were moments when I just had to stop and cry before continuing to read. I recommend you all to give this book a try, you won'tbe disappointed.

Jenn Foor has done a remarkable job with Salt Water Wounds. The depth of raw emotion brought out by the realness of the storyline and characters was heartfelt and touching. A breathtaking story of a man's journey from coasting through life while keeping the memory of the mother of his children and the love of his life alive. Each day is a battle, seven years later it still feels like yesterday, each day is monotonous. Every day without his wife is reminder of the happiness he will never feel or share again. You will feel his pain but the man will make you swoon.

Buck is a waterman with his boys doing the hard yards. When he lost his wife Layla, seven years ago a piece of him died too. Left to raise six kids he is doing the best he can. On the anniversary of what would have been Layla's birthday he goes through the usual paces, visit to the cemetery and drowning his sorrows. He may be sitting alone but when an argument starts, it pulls him to defend the pub owner and friend Perry.

Perry has been back on the island with her son Nick for seven years, owning and running the local pub. A long way away from her abusive ex husband. Perry has had a thing for Buck for some years, flirting and putting out signs that Buck can't see. One day hoping that he will notice what is right in front of him. When her ex husband shows up on the island she's nervous and scared of what he might do to her. Her knight in shining armour swoops in to save the day.

When Buck offers to help Perry out he ends up getting more than he bargained for. Perry slowly awakens feelings and thoughts that have been dead for so long, she ignites something within that has laid dormant for too long. Buck is everything and more in a man than Perry has ever dreamed of but with her ex husband back in town causing havoc, seven children between them and guilt of being and having feelings for another woman could Perry and Buck be doomed before they even try?

I thoroughly enjoyed SWW the thoughts and feelings by Perry and Buck were so realistic the pain and happiness just radiated from them, I wanted to dive right in and hug them both and slap them at the same time.

"Salt Water Wounds" (Oyster Cove Book 1) by Jennifer Foor

I have always loved Jennifer Foor's novels. They are moving, addicting, and extremely well written. They have a grit about them that just makes them non-stop page turners that resonate with the reader. Readers can relate to the novel and characters on a truly visceral level.

Her books cover a wide range of topics. Her characters are written so well, every flaw, strength, behavior, and wording are exactly as they should be for that person. Their points of view and thoughts make them and the novel stronger and more relatable.

In "Salt Water Wounds," the author has written about a man and his six children stuck in a pattern of grief and loss as to how to move forward eight years after his wife and their mother has passed away. In many ways some have made a futile attempt to move forward, but not a true attempt.

It takes a tough woman, her wife beating ex-husband and a few reality checks from three of his kids to get Buck Wallace the true kick in the pants he has needed to take baby steps to finally move forward.

Alice Perry is a tough woman who has had a tough life and a true interest in Buck for a couple years. She is aware of his limits and how stuck he is in the past. Yet she seems to be just the person to help him to break down his walls and to realize it is okay to move forward and have fun and joy in his life again without feeling like he is betraying his first wife.

From the very beginning, the author had me drawn in from the first words of the novel: "Six months to live. It's impossible to fathom an illness would take her away from us in such a short amount of time." From there it was a literal page turner. A truly heartbreaking, heartwarming, emotional, moving, and honest novel.

Jennifer Foor has written another phenomenal five star read that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Salt Water Wounds is a sweet romance that shows us that sometimes love finds us when we're not looking for it.

Buck's been going through the motions since his wife died, leaving him with six children to raise alone. He's been unable to move on from his deceased wife in all these years because of guilt and a deep abiding love. But something about Alice Perry calls to him, and when she needs his help, he can't stay away.

Alice has been through a lot in her life, a traumatizing past, family secrets, and breaking away from an abusive relationship. She's been making moves on Buck for years, wishing for the type of loyalty and love he has to offer, but never really thinking he'd take her up on it. When her ex returns to town, intent on making problems for her, she turns to Buck.

I really enjoyed these two characters and their journey together. They've both got internal struggles going on, both dealing with things alone for so long, and afraid to let anyone in completely. Buck's children and their relationship with him add an extra element to the story, leaving you feeling like you know them all.

This story shows us that love doesn't always happen on our time, that sometimes it smacks us in the face when we least expect it, but that it always feels right. Buck is the type to love deeply, he thought that meant he couldn't love again, but then he finds himself opening up to it.

The additional drama from Perry's past issues and ex situation add an element of slight suspense to the story, sucking you in and making you question what's going to come next. Hints at family secrets compel the reader to continue.

Perry and Buck have a lot to work through, not just together, but individually, but their undeniable connection and chemistry won't let them walk away from each other for very long.

I look forward to reading more in this series, it will be fun to watch what changes are coming to the inhabitants of this small town.

Buck Wallace is lost in his grief still many years later. He is existing in the very minimum and doing what he can to keep his family of 6 children floating above water. Hard work and commitment are some of his strengths which can be seen in the success of his family business. He has done a great job in instilling those qualities in his now grown sons. Raising a young daughter without a mother figure has given him many difficulties. Layla would be proud of how the kids have turned out. Buck has however forgotten one thing she asked of him, to live his life.

Perry does a great job of running the bar and raising her teen son Nick. As per usual, when life is settling down her past comes back as a slap in the face. Her abusive ex-husband has returned and is determined to cause her problems. Over the years she has watched Buck from her side of the bar, trying to be his friend, to encourage him out of this shell that he is stuck in. He is the kind of man that is her dream forever man.

When Buck comes running to her rescue while dealing with her ex-husband, some lines are crossed. Can these two wounded souls be healed? Will they find an even ground and take some steps towards the future or will their past be too strong and hold them back. What will the people of this small town have to say.

To some this book might seem a little sad and depressing in the beginning, but Jennifer does a good job of expressing the emotions that Buck and his children are feeling still after their loss so long ago. Yes, Perry starts out a little overbearing and pushy but she is in desperate need for help. I love that as things progress there is a large focus on moving forward without taking place of the lost, but keeping Layla's memory strong.

I am curious as to what will come next in the Oyster Cove Series.

2.5☆ This is quite a difficult book to review. Firstly I liked the bones of the story but I feel that it wasn't executed as well as it could have been. It was nice to have older characters, although no actual ages were mentioned for Buck and Alice/Perry/Ally (just pick a name and stick with it instead of using all 3). However, the oldest of Buck's kids was 26 and Buck and Layla (his deceased wife) were around 18 to 20 years old when they married and got pregnant, the book opened with him at the gravestone of his wife who would have turned 46 that day, so I'm assuming he was around that age too. Perry was about 17/18 when she got pregnant with her son Nick and he was 16 in the book so that would make her around 34. Despite their older years they came across as quite young, especially Perry. The descriptions of Buck, his children and home, were not very appealing, his kids especially the youngest, (his daughter of 17) was a spoilt little brat, back chatting her Dad, stealing money from her brother and defying orders. Buck was very apathetic in his care of the kids over the past 7 years and they seemed disjointed. Buck was described as unshaven and a bit of a drunk and the home was apparently a dump, with dirty dishes, dog shit everywhere and dirty bathrooms. He certainly didn't appeal to me that's for sure!! There were also quite a lot of grammatical errors and mistakes which makes it harder to read and is a pet peeve of mine. As I said at the beginning the bones of the story were good but the characters didn't come across as especially likeable or appealing. I'm not sure I'd be interested in reading the next instalment because of this.

Salt Water Wounds is my favorite book by Jen Foor so far! It’s a sweet story of second chance love.

It’s the story of Buck- a man who lost his wife- the love of his life- and cannot move on even though it’s been years. It’s also the story of Alice- a woman he has known for years. A woman who has liked Buck for years. They both have issues- his getting over the death of his wife and her dealing with a crazy ex and lots of problems. Can Buck let go and open up his heart again? Can he find happiness and love again? Can they overcome the obstacles in their way?

The prologue starts out strong and emotional and pulls you in. I loved the fact that the characters are older than ones I typically read about. They have been through all of life’s ups and downs and have survived. Buck is very sweet. Some may say he should have gotten over the loss of his wife already since it’s been years. But it’s not always an easy thing to do, so I get it. I think Jenn showed real life with the way she presented Buck and his loss. It’s not easy for everyone to move on. Alice is sweet but a bit much at times. She seems pushy and like she has her eyes set on Buck and won’t give up- which is kind of true. But she grew on me- I think she just had so many things in her life that were a mess but over time she redeemed herself.

The story is told in dual point of view and is well written- it’s easy to read, perfectly paced and flows well. An emotional rollercoaster of sweet moments, heartbreaking loss, funny dialogue and a lot of drama, Salt Water Wounds is a great book to start the series.

I received an arc of this book via the author in return for an honest review

Buck Wallace lost his wife to cancer 8 years ago. Since then he’s struggled raising their 6 children alone. Even now he finds it impossible to move on. Alice Perry runs the local bar and has always had her sights on Buck.

I enjoyed this story, the pace was steady and at times even a little slow, but for me it kind of suited the book. This is an older couple, with pasts that neither of them has really come to terms with and yet they both know that at some point they have to let go and “live” again. Perry has always had her sights on Buck, but feels she will never be good enough, her past has destroyed her. She is totally smitten with him but yet holds back, because she knows he’s still hug up on his dead wife.

Buck hasn’t ever felt the need to move on or felt capable of letting go of his wife, even though 8 years have passed, his children grown and life changing. He feels that this is his lot and he also knows he has to make efforts, for his future.

Circumstances are thrown in both Perry and Bucks path, which draws them together, and their feelings grow as they become more involved. Both start to believe they could have a future.

A vile ex, rebelious teenagers, a some super little twists are thrown into the plot to keep you guessing where how this couple can make it.

An enjoyable read, and different with it being an older couple, but their journey was at times heartbreaking and also heart warming ! Worth reading !!

Wow!

It's no secret Jenn Foor is one of my favorite authors. This story makes you feel all the feels. Mad, anxious, worried, giddy. What a great book. I'm anxious to read the subsequent books as they come out.

Buck lost his wife seven years ago. She was the love of his life. Ally Perry has been chasing her past for years and is trying to find happiness. Can these two find happiness together? I enjoyed their story of inner strength and determination, forgiveness and the ability to move on and find a HEA. Great start to the series. I am looking forward to more about Oyster Cove.

Another Hit!! I LOVED IT <3

I love every J4 books book I've ever read. She once again had me sad, laughing out loud, pissed off, tears rolling down my cheeks, and almost spitting my drunk across the room. This story is about Buck and Perry. Every now and then, Buck reminds me of a much more mature and wise Tyler. He's worked hard for all he has and raised his kids tree best he could. Perry is like the sun and wind coming in to wake him up and blow the dust off. And now a bit about the story...

Buck's struggled alone for the last 7 years after losing his wife to cancer. He's raised his six children the best way he knew how. But when trouble blows into town and attacks Perry, his favorite bartender, nothing is going to be the same again. As Perry struggles to get rid of her abusive ex, Buck is determined to try and move on. The only question is how successful can they be? Can they find happiness together or will they drown out there in the salt water they both love so much...

Favorite passages:
- I can’t be what she needs.
- “Maybe you should keep going, just to be sure I’m still familiar with every part of a woman. It has been a long time. Maybe things have changed.”
- “Now?” “Yeah now, before I lose my nerve.” “Nerve? Will this be illegal? Do I need to bring weapons?”
- “Are you sure we aren’t rushing it?” “We aren’t getting any younger. Pretty soon I’ll need Viagra and a cane.”

This is a great start to what I think is going to be another great series from Jennifer Foor. I rooted for these characters from the begining, I wanted good for them, even if at times I was tilting my head at them.

Although not all of Buck's life was bad he still has a past that does have hurt in it. Alice/Perry was in need of someone to stand up with her and for her. Her past held demons for her as well, and she and Buck slowly heal each other.

Throughout my read I was wondering how a man can be depressed or grieve for this long. I wish Buck had a friend that he could have been able to talk to so that he could have done better by his kids early. But I did like how Perry pushed him to open up and move on too. At times I was a little annoyed with Perry, she was very manipulative and I didn't care for that. But I feel like she just wanted better for her life and understand that she lacked the proper guidance she should have had from her parents.

Over all though this was a good read, I enjoyed it and read through it pretty fast. There's not much angst or drama, it's more mature as the characters are older. The chemistry between Perry and Buck is a slow build but it was perfect for the two of them. Not many books lately are written about thirty somethings, so this is a delightful break from that norm. I can't wait to see what awaits us next for this series.

This is the first book I read from this author and I was pleased with the characters and storyline. This is 4 star story.

This is about Buck who has been a widow for quite a few years. He has raised his 6 children to the best of his abilities. But he was never able to move forward, now they all grown and he needs to find a back up plan. He wants to bye Alice's bar, a woman whom he was attracted to but never made a move. Alice comes with her set of problems that might change the family dynamics. Both these families have their set of hardship but can work through it in order to move on?

This is was quite different from what I've been reading lately. They are more of my age range and with their teenage drama that comes with it. It was a well thought out plot and storyline that was interesting all thought out. Although it was very wordy it was well written. I was kept on the edge of my seat until the very end with anticipation of what would happen next.

This is the first book in the Salt Water Wounds (Oyster Cover #1) series. Told in dual POV with a much deserved HEA. Can't wait to see what comes next in this series.

It was refreshing to read a book where the two main characters where older. Where the father is the first to get a book and not an after thought for the last book. When you first meet Buck, he describes himself in a way that makes you think he is some ogre. He is just a broken man, who lost his wife to cancer 7 years ago and trying his best to raise his six kids. Again by his description, you would think he was a horrible father. So the house was a total disaster, he was there to cook for them and gave them jobs in the family's fishing/water business.
Alice Perry, I didn't like at first either. She comes off at throwing herself at Buck when she knows he is still not over losing his wife. Then when her ex returns and threatens her, she makes Buck a proposition.
Buck ends up liking her in his home and protecting her. She wakes him up, makes him start feeling and living. But the ex is causing problems and putting Alice Perry in bad situations.
Definitely would read the rest of this series. I like Jenn Foor's writing, it is fast and easy to read.

What a great start to what we all know will be a awesome series. I loved this book. Finally a new book about characters that aren't twenty. It's so refreshing to have them my age, so the world can see that us forty years olds still have!

Buck lost his wife seven years ago to cancer. He is left to raise his six children by himself. The guilt he feels for not always being there for his wife consumes him and since her death he has decided to be alone not wanting to let go and move on.

When Perry takes her son and leaves her abusive husband, she runs back to the town where she grew up. Years of watching Buck, she knew she wanted him. Only to be shot down, but when trouble comes to her door he steps up and helps her.

Can he open his heart again? Will Perry be able to put the past behind her and heal herself?
This was a absolute wonderful book, the story was incredible and the writing wonderful. It's a definite must read.

What a wonderful book, I didn’t want it to finish.
The one thing I found different about this book, the couple were more mature.
They had some very real life experience, and faced some challenging times ahead.
We have Buck Wallace drinking in the bar, celebrating his dead wives birthday.
Layla, Bucks wife has been dead for 8 years.
Buck felt dead inside, he missed his wife every day, but he had 6 children he had to bring up.
He found the boys easy, but his youngest Bristol a teenage girl felt like a mystery to him.
Over the years drinking in this bar he watched the owner Perry, and had admired her body.
If Buck wasn’t feeling dead inside Perry would the only one that might interest him.
The best thing I can say is read the book, enjoy the book.
I have a feeling as this is book 1 from Oyster Cove,
They are plenty more tales to tell, and hopefully as wonderful as this one.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review
