Mine to Take

Rate this book
I didn't want a wife.

Yes, I found myself a mail-order bride. But before my would-be wife got on the plane to come to Alaska, I changed my mind and canceled the wedding. She ended up coming anyway.

And now that I've seen her, touched her, tasted her, she's going nowhere.

Alaska is a wild, vast place. It's dangerous. It's beautiful. It's untamed. And my desire for my bride is just as fierce and unrestrained.

Mila may be scared of both.

She may even try to leave.

But I'll make sure the only direction she runs is into my arms.

Mine. Mila is mine.

Warning: This sticky-hot, sweet story of insta-love and baby-making is a perfect bedtime read...and may inspire you to kill the Kindle, grab your partner, and practice some baby-making yourself. But if you want to read something truly dark and twisted, try CJ Roberts.

Ok yes it's a ripoff Alexa Riley books here Lassoing the virgin mail order bride with an add of Alaska.
However the story is good with the Amish twist and the added fact that they had an online relationship. They talked and video chat for 3 months before she ups and leaves Ohio to marry the hero in Alaska.
He feels like his life is not good enough to share with her and wants her to go back until he is faced with her. Then, all bets are off.
Seriously, I know this is a cheap ripoff but it worked for me (in that I enjoyed it for what it was a short quick smutty story that it was).
No cheating and a totally safe book.

This book has been taken down off of amazon because it's allegedly plagiarized from Alexa Riley. If you bought this ask for refund. If you buy from this author from here on and it's stolen then you are supporting plagiarism be wary.

Edited for the fact some bought and didn't know

NOTE: In reading other reviews and then doing a little digging, it seems that this book is PLAGIARISM by the author. The two books I mention below were taken and cobbled together + Amish stuff to get Mine to Take. The book has since been removed from Amazon. Per the author, Avery Kaye:
Regarding Mine To Take. That book was unpublished by Amazon due to another author wrongfully claiming copyright infringement. I’m no millionaire (far from it). I couldn’t afford to take that author on in court (she is very popular and has LOTS of money for lawyers), so I had to quietly let that one go. It will not be available on Amazon ever. However, I have a new book coming out in the next day or two. And it has a lot of the same elements. That book is titled Because You're Mine.

Due to this situation, I've reduced my rating to one star.
Note: One of the ladies in the AR duo IS an attorney...I'm just sayin'

I learned about Mine to Take and Alexa Kaye via Amazon as a recommendation for Kindle Unlimited. This is my first Alexa Kaye/Avery Kaye book but it feels rather...familiar.

So far? It's 75% Lassoing the Virgin Mail Order Bride and 25% Claimed By The Mountain Man . Though the dirty parts aren't quite as dirty as AR gives it to you.

It is plagiarism? I doubt it. But heavily "inspired by?" That, I can see. (Please see above note)

I did have some issues with it (besides plotting, of course):
~ "growing up Amish" was used as a phrase enough times that it irritated me. I don't need to be hit over the head with a hammer - mentioning it once would have done it. But it's either "growing up Amish" or "Amish" or "Amish girl" over and over again.
~ She keeps calling the hero "English" and its annoying. I'm trying to figure out if it is English as from England or if the author is implying that Amish people call other Americans "English." I don't read Amish Romances so I am unsure. If this is something used in Amish Romances a lot, its a failure on the author's part to not explain it better. You can't assume any foreknowledge on the part of your reader outside of a series.
~ In the beginning, the heroine mentions lying on her application and saying she was a German student. But then the text says that the MCs have spoken via video call and phone calls... and considering (especially since we are not allowed to forget) this chick is AMISH, I doubt she has her German accent down pat... But that part is never brought up again.

I also disliked the fact that the first time the couple has sex is in a truck on the side of the road...but the hero managed not to have sex for three days prior. Losing virginity in a truck when the bed isn't that far away is un-hot.

All in all, it's a quick, dirty-ish, almost carbon copy of Alexa Riley's work.

This one needed to be a little bit longer. I'm all for the short, sweet, smutty read but I still wanted more of their relationship. Still good and looking forward to the next read by this author.

Everyone is whining about this being an Alexa Riley knock off, but it isn't. This trope isn't exactly ground breaking, and when both books are what, ten pages long, of course there's going to be some similarities. Should every Alaskan bush man/modern mail order bride author step back not that Alexa Riley has written about it? Uh, no, because Alexa Riley isn't exactly doing anything new either. It's all been done a million times before.

That being said, I actually enjoyed this one more than the Alexa Riley cowboy modern mail order bride. The characters were more relatable, the Amish thing was a great twist, and I found the sex scenes to be 1000X hotter. Don't listen to the Alexa Riley fan club, if you like mountain men and mail order brides, you'll love this sweet hot HEA short story!

Modern mail order bride books are becoming the new trend and they all seem to take place in Alaska. I read some reviews trashing this book for being a copy of Lassoing the Virgin Mail-Order Bride by Alexa Riley now I love Alexa Riley books but I have to disagree about it being a copy. There are a few things that are similar but it is in no way a copy. I like and have read Frankie Love's Modern Mail-Order Bride series and that has a few similarities too and I'm sure any mail order bride book that comes in the future will also. Just like any book with the slightest bit of BDSM in it is compared to Fifty Shades of Grey. It's an entertaining book with a quirky theme to it and I for one enjoyed it and if I find more mail order bride books as long as they're modern I'll read them as well. Jace ordered a mail order bride from an online company because he didn't want to go through the usual rituals to find a wife. Mila grew up in Ohio and she was Amish until she realized she wanted more for her life than to end up like her mother. She had little money and little options so she signed up to be a mail order bride to a man that lived in bum fuck nowhere Alaska. The two of them talked on the phone and the computer to get to know a bit about each other first. Jace told his employee to cancel his bride but his employee didn't do it and instead went to the airport to pick Mila up. Mila is surprised when a much older man picks her up at the airport but then she's annoyed when she's told her future husband was too busy to get her so he sent someone else. She arrives at Jace's cabin and is told to make herself at home until Jace gets home from work. The last thing she expected was to be woken up from a dead sleep with a gun pointed at her by her hubby to be.

Ok......I knew there was something weird about this book.....reading it was like deja vu.

Oh, right - it's very much like Alexa Riley's Lassoing the Mail-Order Bride. Only instead of cowboys, you get some rich recluse living in Alaska, or some place really cold and snowy.

But ok, to be fair, i read it till the end. If i'm duped into reading 2 books with lots of similarities, i might as well make comparisons:

Same:
1) storyline - rich guy looking for bride online, wanted to cancel it off but changed his mind when he sees the sweet young girl (ugh!)
2) characters - desperate rich, handsome and non-asshole dude, virginal girl who has nothing to lose, bungling helper/butler/driver who somehow forgot to cancel (word of advice....if you want to get important things done, gotta do it yourself)
3) sexytimes - lots of lusting (guy), lots of blushing (girl), lots of dirty sexy words....so ok...it's really hot.
4) dude anxious to marry girl but keeps himself away from her till the time comes and immediately set himself to get her preggers (so that she'll forever be his.....muahahaha!)

5) similar HEA ending

Different:
1) location - one is somewhere in cowboyland, one is in some snowy land
2) this one is a bit more romantic, has slightly better dialogues and slightly less cheesy than the AR version
3) the running away from Amish lifestyle thing is noteworthy different

Other than that, there's nothing really different between the two. It's like reading a writing class project where you get a basis of a story and then each student changes some stuff here and there which will result in variations of the same story. (Then reward student with the most awesome version of the story)

So I kinda liked the story other than the fact that it's such a copycat tale. And i'd give it a 1.5 stars for making some minor improvements on an existing story.

I thought this book would have some sort of adventure because of the blurb, but I was disappointed...
I expected the female character to escape or to be a bit feisty but she was calm and was doing everything that the guy wanted, which was really weird...
description
There should have been a bit more to the book because it was really short and it was only about their marriage and nothing else so that was also disappointing... But I guess the book in general was alright, not too bad and not too good ..

Confession time. I'm disappointed.

confession time. (again) i swear i have read this story before. it's so familiar its like its been taken from another book and only a couple words have been changed. I was actually bored with this story.

Don't get me wrong i really liked the other books but this one just didn't do it for me, it just felt to similar, too boring and too silly. oh and speaking of the h this is what i thought of when i was reading this story.

Quick fun sexy read. It is indeed very similar to another book but I still had fun reading it.

Given the length of the book, there isn't much room for character or plot development, but both characters are likable and the plot straightforward enough not to crowd things out.

I like the sexy times here. It is fun passionate yet still very loving.

Short and sweet

It's cute, not realistic, but you know that going in. I would say if using character from Amish culture..... it didn't make sense her knowing technology, rough sex, etc, author could have taken this story further.

I was in a rush to get my Alexa RILEY fix so I wasn't paying attention when I bought this. I thought it was one of Alexa Riley's because that's what I had typed in the search box at the online Kindle Shop. It's pretty obvious she is trying to trick you into thinking she is AR, she not only imitates her cover art but the way the blurb is written too.

When I started reading I could tell right away this was not written by my favorite writing duo, but by some worthless author. Plagiarism is wrong. WTF is wrong you??
