Noa was trampled and nearly killed by hundreds of horny female fans at a concert for a band she didn't even like, but Alden, the bad boy lead singer of the band, saved her from the trampling tramps. Alden is used to getting what he wants, especially women, but Noa can't stand the cocky, pelvic thrusting rock star.

Some things should remain in the dark, but by grudgingly spending time with one of the biggest superstars in the world, every dark corner of Noa's life will be illuminated under the spotlight. Will she be able to survive it? Will Alden be able to survive the consequences of Noa's past? Will Noa be able to survive the sexy, brash, and talented Alden Breck?

Reread Aug 2018 and still loved:)

5 Smoking Hot and Funny Stars!

Noa is dragged to a Friction concert because her best friend begged her to go. Noa hates the lead singer that is up on stage doing pelvic thrusts. Hell she doesn't even like this band at all.

He just seemed so damn cocky. Cocky grin, cocky flirting, cocky thrusting – when the hell was this c**k fest going to be over? -Noa

Alden is up on stage and sees Noa and doesn't understand why this beautiful woman is not falling at his feet like all the rest of the women. She is looking up at him with a facial expression of disgust. Haha!

During an encore Noa gets trampled on when all the skanks are trying to get to him and the barrier crashes down with her. Alden is freaking out and jumps to rescue her. Noa wants nothing to do with the male slut Alden. It's all his fault she got stepped on. She just wants to fly back home and write her romance novels and forget all about this nightmare night.

Alden has something else in mind.
Alden will take Noa however he can get her. He makes a deal with her that he will not try to bed her and they can be friends. She agrees to be his date to a few charity galas. They will be together for nine weeks.

Noa hasn't had anyone ever tell her she's beautiful and Alden makes it his mission to make sure Noa knows that she is the most beautiful woman that he's ever laid his eyes on. Noa doesn't trust easy either. She's had to always take care of herself since she was a teenager. Alden wants her to trust him with her secrets but Noa is scared.

“I love you, Noa. You f***ing wreck me. You have been wrecking me since I first saw your scowling, beautiful…” He kissed my lips. My nose. My cheeks. “…stunning face. And then you opened your little big mouth. I think you had me at ‘obnoxious’ and ‘cocky." - Alden

I loved both of them!! They were so funny! Whew! One minute I'm calling the fire dept because there is a fire blaring and the next I'm laughing my a** off.

“I’m so glad that you fell on your face at that concert,” he said, caressing my cheek with his thumb. “You mean you’re so glad that you almost killed me with your pelvic thrusting,” I corrected.

He kissed my thigh and grinned up at me. “You’re f***ing amazing, you know that?” “I would have to be f***ing amazing to put up with your bullshit.”

I loved this book! I'm off to see if I can read more books by this author:))

This was about a 3/3.5 for me. Ive been a fan of this author for some time. I was hoping for the usual angst but this book lacked it.
Noa meets rock star Alden at one of his concerts. She plays the whole I hate you and I'm not paying any attention to you card. While he plays the oh a girl hates me so I have to chase her card. Obviously they do the lets just be friends but it never stays that way does it?
Noa had been in a bad relationship. That storyline fell flat for me. How it was played out. How the guy acted. Wasn't very good for me. Stalker or just creeper?? And the whole Senator storyline was from left field, could have done without it.
Where was the angst and smut?? They never went beyond oral and some dry humping!! I needed waaaaaay more if you were gonna try and sell me on how these two couldn't be without the other.
There were many things I didn't enjoy in the book. Things that may not be a issue for other readers. A bit jumpy for me. I could've done without a couple characters. Still a huge fan of this author. This one just happened to not be for me.

Not as angsty as her other books, but still totally worth the read. Sexual tension, banter, love-hate relationship, hot sexy times and enough angst to keep me hooked. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the ending felt rushed. Drama at 96% should've started at 85% and been drawn out more. I like lengthy heart ache and I <3 Alden and his monster sea serpent, too!

Brilliant

When Noa gets dragged along to a concert to a band she doesn't even like the arrogant pelvic thrusting singer who has women thowing themselves at him just tops the night off with her patients and tolerance reaches her limit.

So just when she thinks its finally over they returned with an encore, she has to endure three more songs from the pelvic thrusting cock asshole she thinks he is and Noa is more than irritated.

Its not Noa's hair, eyes or body that catches Aldens attention from the stage its her scowl, her frown, women throw themselves at him and this leaves him more that intrigued.

The chase most definitely gets on the way

And oh what fun it was.

Its hot, witty, sarcastic full of banter has drama, angst a swoon worthy bbf character, loved it.

I want to thank the author for also promoting d.v awareness and the importance of children who need to be in the foster care. You Rocked :-)

I had a hard time deciding on whether to rate this book as 2 or 3 stars.

I finally decided on 1 star because even though this book wasn’t horrible and I enjoyed parts of it I found more wrong with this book than I found right.
Mild spoilers
The female MC: She was needlessly mean and bitchy. Alright so she
I also didn’t appreciate every other girl in the book being called a whore or skank or various variations thereof. It seems in books like these you have to be completely sexually repressed and “different” to be worthy of some respect. (the fact that she’s different to all other women is repeatedly shoved down your throat) Come on authors, stop slut shaming!
The male MC: What a manipulative, controlling, arrogant ass! He crosses the line a few times on which I will expand more in my take on their relationship below. Again, I didn't appreciate him calling the women he slept with skanks. Geez!
The relationship between the MCs: She constantly insulted and called the H horrible names and in turn he manipulated and coerced her into situations I felt were unnecessary. They decided on That’s just unacceptable and stalkerish behaviour that she seems to have only a mild disdain for even after we are supposed to believe she just got out of a 3 year long abusive relationship. Come on now, we aren’t stupid.

The sex made me uncomfortable because it felt so much like she was doing it against her will, begging for him to stop and him just carrying on. Are we really going to imply that when a woman says no stop she really means yes go?
I just skimmed the book from about 68% to the end in hopes that the characters would somehow redeem themselves and their weird relationship. But even after all the nice things he said to her, the big romantic confessions and him swooping in to be her hero it still didn’t excuse any of their previous behaviour in my eyes.

5 stars!!! I loved this book! First, I have to say that I've never read a book by this author so I did some research on the book to see what others thought. Most loved it but some were annoyed with the heroine. Funny thing about reviews (even though I enjoy writing them and reading them) everyone really doesn't read the same book. I was expecting to find the heroine annoying too but I didn't and I'm glad I didn't. I actually really related to her and totally got why she came off the way she did.

Ok, so this is a rockstar romance with a bit of a different plot. The heroine goes to a concert with her friend even though she doesn't like the band that is playing. Noa (love her name!) is not impressed by the lead singer of Friction, Alden Breck. He's an arrogant, conceited manwhore and Noa isn't like other girls waiting to fall at his feet. While at the concert, Noa is trampled and is hurt pretty badly. She is rescued by Alden and some his staff at the concert and this is where the friction begins! Noa is a bit on the feisty side and doesn't take well to Alden's flirty and arrogant behavior. Alden is a sneaky thing and worms his way into her life and they become friends but agree not to have a sexual relationship. All the while, he is protective of her and actually really sweet to her which is not the way she expected him to be. I mean he's a famous rocker who's known for going through women and getting into trouble with the law. Noa is a writer and leads a pretty low key lifestyle. Although her and Alden become close she never reveals much about her past to him. She's made some bad choices in men in the past and doesn't want to get hurt. So the only way to protect herself is to have fun but not get too personal.

Eventually they start to mess around and it was pretty hot! There wasn't a ton of sex that you would expect in a book with a rockstar MC to have but it was perfect. The first half of the book is Alden sleeping with other women because Noa wasn't interested in that from him (or so she says!). I didn't mind it b/c that is how his character was and Noa wasn't opposed to it even though it hurt her inside. Alden actually reminded me a lot of Mal from the Stage Dive series but I honestly liked Alden much better! He was the perfect combination of sexy rocker that was demanding and protective with a side of sweet. Both Alden and Noa have pasts that they eventually have to deal with in the second half of the book. It wasn't over the top, but it was definitely angsty. I really loved these characters and I will definitely be reading more from this author in the near future!

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I expected I would. There were redeeming moments, but most of the time, the story fell flat to me. Full review to come.

I was caught by surprise with this one. I have written on nearly every review of the books I have read by her, that L.D. Davis is the queen of angst. (Or something similar.) She can certainly leave a lump in your throat and a gaping hole where your heart used to be. She has an uncanny ability to make you feel what her characters feel. But I didn’t feel the angst with this book. Was that a bad thing? Not necessarily, it just wasn’t what I had come to expect. Also, while her other books have sex as the byproduct of the relationships, I felt that sex was more the focus in this one than the relationship. Again, not a bad thing necessarily, just different.

Alden Breck was the lead singer in the band, Friction. He was your typical rock star, loved partying, loved sex, hated commitment. Falling in love and having a wife were things he swore he would never ever do or have. He was a smart ass and incredibly endearing. He was the kind of guy you would imagine would make a great best friend. One evening during one of his concerts, a cute girl, Noa caught his eye. As he made his way to her, the audience began pushing their way closer to get to him and trapping Noa up against the barrier. The closer he got the worse situation became until the barrier collapsed and Noa was trampled by his fans. Seeing this, Alden pulls her from the floor and “saves” her from further demise. What he doesn’t realize is she hates him. Seriously. She despises everything there is about him. The way he exudes sex and his cocky demeanor make her see red. Being used to women throwing themselves at him, he is thrilled by the chase.

Having him inserted into her life, was as bad as eating crushed glass. Noa wanted nothing to do with him. And when her friend excitedly tells her how lucky she is that Alden saved her life, she rolled her eyes and said,

“I’d rather have been trampled. Alden Breck is obnoxious and conceited.”

What Alden doesn’t know is that she didn’t have the greatest upbringing and she just got out of an abusive relationship. So the odds were against him. She is an author of romance novels so her standards are even greater.

“Stop looking at me like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like I’m dinner.”
“Maybe I’m hungry.”
“Take your appetite somewhere else, Breck,” I said, moving away from him. “You’re not biting here.”

With these dynamics you can imagine the fireworks. A friend with benefits (without sex, and only one-sided.?.) ensues, as Alden attempts to convince her he is worth her time.

This book is STEAMY and FILLED with sexy times. It is also funny. There is a little suspense thrown in as well. A departure from Davis’s norm, overall, it was a good book. It was a fun quick read.

3.5 - 4 Stars

Oh this book. It started out well enough. Noa and her girlfriend are front row at a Friction concert. While most of the girls are screaming for lead singer, Alden, Noa is unimpressed with his cocky performance. Unimpressed turns into seriously perturbed when she's injured in a fangirl stampede to touch Alden when he hops off the stage to show the fans his pelvic thrusts.

Alden is immediately smitten with Noa and her bitchy attitude. At first I thought it was rather amusing but it got old. Alden finally convinces Noa to join him to be his date on a nine-week charity tour. She's an author so the publicity is also good for her own career.

One main thing I didn't like was the fact that even though Alden was trying to woo Noa (they got to second base quite often) he still had no qualms about nailing groupies and didn't care if Noa knew it. I tried to have the attitude of 'if she didn't care then I shouldn't either' but they'd make out, she'd stop him, he'd "go out", then he would come back and sleep in the bed with her. It was kind of gross in my opinion.

Noa had her secrets. I thought they were interesting enough to save the story. I liked the way they were revealed in the end. They gave the story a touch of originality.

I wrinkled my nose a lot but all in all the story wasn't half bad. Not Davis's best but it was okay.

I am a big fan of the author and even though this book is somewhat different from her previous works; she still brought her A-game.

This is Alden and Noa's story, two very talented people; he a musician, she a writer. When Noa met Alden at his concert she attended with her best friend, she was not impressed. After being nearly trampled to death by his screaming fans; he made it his duty to take care of her.

I love the character development and dialogue, Noa's caustic, sarcastic tongue and Alden's foul mouth and outrageous behaviour. You can't help but laugh at the antics the author described. This makes for a delightful, sexy read.

Five Friction Stars!!!

Why did I wait so long to read this book???? To be quite honest, this book got lost among all my unread books on my Kindle. I finally sorted my unread books by author and BAM!!! An LD Davis book that I haven't read?? How can this be?? I love the writing style of LD Davis. Her characters are raw and real -- not painted perfectly on a canvas. They are colorful with some angst and sometimes a lot of hurtful feelings expressed. In the end-- good, bad, painful and joyous passion and felt with her stories.

🎧 Audio Review 🎧

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't heavy with emotional stuff, it wasn't filled with angst and it wasn't the normal "guy who is afraid to go after what he wants". I needed that very nice change! Noa is a very sassy strong girl with amazing will power (lol) who has no intentions of letting another guy control her or hurt her. Alden is a rock god with a huge heart and a lot of patience! I loved these two together! The banter between these two was fun and the sex Hot!

The narration was good, I was confused about there being 3 narrators but I'm not complaining ;)

What do you get when two opposite people set own relative ways rub together with such resistance? Friction. As we learned in school its a bunch of physics but in this case a rock star and a writer butt heads so much. I wasnt expecting this set up and the meet cute was different as well, such strong personalities too. Ive always liked LD Davis and that made me charmed by the way this one went.

Alden Breck maybe be an ass, a self admitted one, cocky, but no denying the talent. He maybe difficult but he has a huge heart and loves just as hard. I have to admire how he came to be and how much he cares for others, proud of his past and does good. Not that it erases the douchery gotta give props though.

Noa was a tough cookie to crack, feisty but guarded and toughened. But as I got to see her you cant help but empathize and feel. Alden was just the guy to break the walls down. I have to admit it was refreshing to see them one up the other and bicker. But not cruelly just to push the other.

So not the usual rocker meets girl story I would have thought that's part of why I fell into it so easy. Sure its not a gritty one but its something interesting and will catch your attention. Light read and fun, enjoyable too. Im kinda sad its over though.

I am a fan on LD’s works - from AOP to Tethered, I enjoyed & relished LD’s angsty reads. Mind you, I am not one who normally likes love triangle stories, but my adoration for LD’s writing style always lures me in, and I cannot resist. I really tried to like this book, but nothing really appealed to me. Not the hero Alden, who was actually the most likable character and a bit funny, but he was overshadowed by his “assholyiness” features. Noa, the frustrating and annoying heroine was too combative and came off totally unloveable. The sexual tension element ran really high, but took so long for this couple to sort themselves out. And by the time they did...BAM, the story comes to an unbelievable abrupt end. However, the story was well written, which held my attention to the end. A solid 3 star read.

- Lots of people used Cheating tag, but I cant find details.
Some details -
"heroine makes the hero promise her that he won't try to sleep with her , but for some reason she lets him "get her off" but no sex . and meanwhile because obviously he would be frustrated , he sleeps with other women and she knows this and they keep with this routine"

- Beauty in the eye of the beholder. H calls her beautiful but she said no one else thinks so.

Mini-Review: (Mis)-Adventures in Romance Audiobooks Continue

I ended up listening to the whole audiobook because I didn't want to go buy the print. I know. There are three narrators listed but the majority of the book is narrated by Samantha Prescott. I would have liked the narration better if it was a bit more mixed than it was. It took a good while for me to get used to Prescott's narration style and by then I was more charmed by the story than her narration.

This was a fun story about a musician making a point of getting to know a woman that wasn't a fan of his music and falling at his feet in utter lust. It's a slow burn romance that happens quickly but sex is held like a wished for goal until much later in the book.

It's a cute romance. The pacing of the story is unbalanced. You can tell that the author has Alden and Noa down pat as people but was a little fuzzy on how to make them come together. It's one thing to have the main points written down on paper. It's another thing to make the points happen in a manner that makes sense and comes across as believable. Towards the end, I got pretty disgruntled with the story and it wasn't due to what was happening. It was how it was happening. A lot of important details come into the story like a flailing ball that totally missed the target. If I really let the details sink in, I would have had a hard time reading/listening to the story.

Eh, I have a soft spot for musicians and love stories. This story wasn't unique but it had it's charming moments.

I feel I am bias when it comes to LD Davis’s writing, to me her writing never fails, every book I have read written by this wonderful author has me captivated and on edge and at the end of the book exhausted by the emotions I go through while reading.

Friction I must admit is nothing short of amazing, the emotion and journey that LD Davis takes you on with these two characters is breathtaking and wonderful.

It all starts at a rock concert for a band called Friction, Noa is forced to go by her best friend Kristy. Noa is instantly turned off by the way the lead singer flaunts and struts his way around the stage. I love Noa, she is witty and sharp and her one liner's are brilliant and funny. “I think it is sad and pathetic that the only way you could get my number was while I was unconscious. For the record if I had been awake and alert, you most certainly would not have my number. Now that you are aware of that, take this opportunity to lose said number. Thank you. Oh Save Of Lives for not letting me die at YOUR concert. Goodbye” I love how Noa is very quick witted and cuts right to the core it is fresh and funny reading what she will come back with next to Alden’s questions and remarks.

Alden the lead singer and leader of Friction is instantly attracted to Noa, the way she scowls at Alden when he signs is so funny you can’t help but have a smile on your face. Alden is cocky and loves himself but after the childhood he has had you can’t actually blame him. He can’t get over the fact that Noa is not instantly attracted to him “I agree”, he said with a small cocky smile. “She does seem confused. Women don’t usually scowl at me”,/i>

It all starts when Noa has a fall at the concert, Hero Alden steps in to save her and from here on in their lives start to intertwine and you see that Alden can’t keep away from Noa but will Noa bring down the wall that she has up to protect herself?

This is not a normal boy meets girl, girl falls for boy story, it is so full of emotion and yes there are some parts where you just want to slap both of these characters but the more I read the more I loved the storyline and the way LD had these two at each other but also trying to resist each other as well, this book is full of laughter, fun but also very emotional and there were a few tears shed in my household I can tell you of that. Both these characters have severe ups and downs in this book and you are put through every emotion but I guarantee you will not wish is any other way.

LD highlighted that lives are not always rosy; Noa herself has been subject to abuse and has to build her life back up again and her confidence. What I loved about the storyline was that people all over can relate to this book or know someone who can relate there is also the underlying thread throughout this book that nothing is impossible if you want it bad enough and are willing to stand up for what you know is right, to not let anyone put you down or degrade you but to know you are your own person an individual who is full of potential.

Alden has also had a very turbulent childhood but through it all he is building his life up to what he wants, he is determined and knows he has been given a second chance in life and wants to do well for others who have been in his position.

I will end with this from our lovely Noa and Alden

“It’s called Friction, Little Noa. And you Love every minute of it”
“I watched him walk away out of the room and stared at the doorway for a long moment before snorting “Friction. Puh”, I hid my smile, even from myself. Alden was right of course I love our brand of Friction, every minute of it”

Ms Davis's latest book, Friction, is nothing like you would expect from her if you have read her Accidentally On Purpose books before; it is the first instalment in a totally new series, actually. Of one thing you can rest assured of, though: this book is as well-written as those are, and you'll be carried away as much by Noa and Alden's story as by their crackling chemistry, their clashing personalities and their wonderful HEA.

Singer and leader of the Friction band, Alden Breck rescues writer Noa Harlow Eddington from being trampled to death at one of his concerts. He has his doctor see her and has her taken to hospital for further examinations. He probably doesn't expect her to swoon then and there just because she's in front of the one and only Alden Breck (well, perhaps he does), but a little show of appreciation on her part for what he did wouldn't sure hurt him. Trouble is, Noa hates his guts because of who he is and what he stands for, and cannot be bothered with pretending otherwise. From a less than discouraging first encounter, we are led through the most amazing tale of love, friendship and trust. In order to solve the puzzle Noa's resistance to his charms presents, Alden asks her to be his date at some charities he is to attend and perform at with his band, to which she agrees on the most rational grounds that it will only help her writing career. Their story then unfolds like a Friction tour, with each gig bringing the two love birds closer and closer together.

Both Noa and Alden have some heavy pasts they have been coping with at the best of their possibilities so far, and both have hidden their better selves deep inside their hearts; neither of them is looking for love, but when they meet, everything changes, and the more they get to know each other, the more they fall for one another. Since he first lays his eyes on Noa, Alden is hooked up by her different attitude towards his public persona, and his inability to put her into any female category he is accustomed to only makes him a man on a mission. How long can Noa resist Alden's pursuit? For the record: she does so much longer than I did. The contrast between what Alden says and what he does is all too endearing because it gives us flashes of two totally different men: while to everyone outside the circle of his closest friends, Alden is a cocky, self-assured rockstar, to those people he cares about, he shows his attentive and thoughtful self. That is the Alden I have hopelessly fallen for, the one I was only waiting for Noa to realize was there for her.

Noa's sassy attitude is so refreshing in her exchanges with Alden the Peacock, and I love her to bits. Together, they are a fight waiting to happen and they seem destined to remain trapped in their own 'roles'. Until Alden finds his way to her heart, and embraces it head down. Noa tries to resist him, but Alden's cockiness and unrelenting sexual innuendoes whispers to her Inner Goddess and makes her whole body hum. What really makes a difference to her are those glimpses of the private Beck Alden, which present a man worth more, so much more than all his wealth and notoriety. Noa is a tough cookie, though, and it will take all of Alden's patience, experience and expertise to win her over. And win he will.

I. AM. TORN.

I'm so conflicted over my feelings for this story. On the one hand, I loved it. Devoured it in a day. But it wasn't without it's issues.

Minor Spoilers

First off, it follows the same formula most other 'Average girl meets famous Rock Star' stories do. You know, where the girl is a bitch and tries to deny her feelings for agessss before she finally caves. I'm okay with this. Because I like this. But Noa was a bitch more or less from start to finish. Usually I can find a reason that the famous guy is falling for the girl, but here I really struggled. Her sarcasm was funny and you could say she had wit, but she was also just plain mean at times. She didn't even bring anything to the table sexually for some time, though he had his hands all up in her business giving her pleasure for weeks.

Alden was cool, but a major slut. I had issues with him trying to pursue Noa, while still going out chasing tail every night while she was at home, his home, knowing what he was up to. Umm, eww. There's nothing enticing about that and famous or not, I'd tell him to take a hike before letting him near me. This is where I could empathize with Noa's determination for things to stay platonic between the two of them, even though the chemistry was plain to see. I loved that Alden thought he was the shit, and wasn't afraid to say it. He was talented and he knew it. And the whole storyline with his brother Peyton, only made me like him more. The sex was hot and naturally, he had a sea serpent hiding in those pants! Bless.

So those are some of my grievances, but despite it all, I really liked the story! They had both experienced things in their early years - shitty parents, bad situations - and it gave them both something in common. I liked that this was talked about, but not talked about in too much detail. Sometimes it just isn't necessary, but what was implied that happened with Noa, was enough to feel sympathetic toward her. Larson was an evil bastard. But I liked his part in the story also. It just fed the drama and added a bit of mystery and angst.

So I was knee deep in drama, waiting to see how everything was going to turn out, then suddenly... IT WAS THE END!! This is my major problem with this story. Immediately after finishing, I went to Goodreads to see if this was a series, even though that wasn't my impression before I started. It doesn't seem to be, and that disappoints me, because the ending came so SUDDENLY. WTF?! There was barely any HEA and a weak half page Epilogue. This ending is the definition of a 'rushed ending'. Like what the hell, did the author have a deadline she had to make, so she just whipped up an ending at short notice?! It really fell flat for me, and almost ruined the book. All that drama from the final few chapters, couldn't be wrapped up within a few pages for me. I am unsatisfied! Which is a shame, because I liked everything else, despite how it may seem.

So I'm pissed, but I liked it. So I'm conflicted. Just wish that ending was extended and there was a little more to it. If there's another book about these two, I will be back to read it. I just hope it doesn't end in a similar way.

Original Review @ Naomi’s Reading Palace

3.5 Stars

Friction was a bit of a fun, sexy read, with a touch of danger, as I met Noa, who happened to get trampled at a concert she didn't want to be at. She loathed the main singer for Friction – Alden Breck. After he rescued her, she bantered with him and it's clear that she couldn't stand him. But after a few encounters and a promise from Alden, they spend more time together and build a strong friendship.

In the beginning, I wasn't sure about Alden, but the more I learned about him, the more I liked him. He had a troubled childhood and struggled for a long time. He found happiness with music and became very successful. He has a cocky, confident attitude, but underneath there's still a vulnerable guy who thinks he'll never be loved. So it was sweet to see him fall for Noa.

I enjoyed seeing these two spend time together and watching the chemistry sizzle. It was clear to me that Alden saw Noa differently than other girls, but she tried her hardest to keep him at arms length. It annoyed me that she was sort of stringing Alden along, as he kept opening up to her about everything. But I liked that she was willing to get to know him, and to see her become more confident around him as she had had a hard life too.

There was some seriousness to this story, as I learned that Noa had struggled through an abusive relationship. Her ex pops up occasionally to make life difficult for Noa with his possessive and stalkerish tendencies. Alden wanted to protect her as much as he could but it was hard while Noa held back details.

Friction was mostly told from Noa's perspective, but a couple of different ones popped up toward the end. I enjoyed the narration by Samantha Prescott. She was easy to listen too and kept me indulged in the story. I felt that the storyline dragged a little at times and a few issues arose that I felt weren't needed. But overall, for my first L.D. Davis read, it wasn't a bad story. It was a sizzling and entertaining read, and I look forward to trying L.D. Davis again in the future.

ATTENTION
MAY SPOIL ALERT...

It starts good, made me LOL several times, but then, it starts dragging a lot, made me think of those soap operas that start great, then over a week you see all the episodes but nothing really moves forward and then toward the end everything happens at the same time cause they are in a rush to air the new soap opera, and this one just leaves you with an empty and unsatisfied feeling...

which is a shame really, I was expecting more, so excited in the beginning and then... I dunno, just meh!!

There were in my opinion some inconsistencies, like the fact that she was a drunk and a heavy drug addict that got cleaned up, but she pop's pain killers and xanax and booze whenever she feels bad, I thought "recovering" addicts were "forbidden" to drink/take pills, also, the timeline is confusing, Tucker (college friend) helped her get cleaned or was it Larson(abusive ex-boyfriend)?

I think the story telling should include more details from her infancy and about what mom's boyfriends did to her, when did she get involved with the senator, and the end was not satisfying at all, Larson should had paid for his crimes.

It's a jumble of information, I wish the facts were more clear, and that the drama part was better developed, and that the end wasn't so "sudden"!

Simplifying: It was great foreplay, it started good, then dragged in a bad numbing way, then the crazy movements started and I got lost, unable to keep up and puff, "the end", c'mon, I DIDN'T COME!!!

Genuinely shocked by this book and not in a good way. For 90% this was a 4 star book. But the ending, the last 10% was such a let down that it drops my rating to a 2 star.

Noa gets dragged to a rock concert by her friend. She isn't a fan of the band and especially not the cocky, arrogant singer, Alden. At the end of the show she is trampled by his fans and rescued by said rock god.

From there she fights to hate him while slowly falling for him. All interesting and enjoyable. She has a bunch of secrets though. An abusive stalker ex bf, a married senator.

The book builds and builds, shit hits the fan. But in the blink of an eye,

I'm really saddened by the ending it was so entertaining to that point and became a disappointment. it would be like watching Shawshank Redemption and the movie ends before Andy escapes.

Buddy read with Nicole

Our LD Davis reading binge that started with her AOP series continues here with Friction. Her writing style just works for us both and we weren't disappointed with Friction.

This is a standalone rockstar book and not at all related to her AOP series or spin offs but I must say that I did think on more than one occasion that Alden and Luke could be related given what both of them are packing in their pants!

LD Davis is the queen of angst and her skill at writng angst is a talent not a lot of authors can pull off. Friction is not on that angst scale like her other books but there is a twist and turn towards the end of Friction that had the angst lover in me say - yes that's what I was waiting for.

LD Davis is an auto buy author for me and I can't wait to read whatever she writes next.

This was at best a 3⭐️⭐️⭐️ book for me. I was kind of disappointed. I really loved the accidentally on purpose series. It had good depth, writing, character development and complexity to the story. But this didn't have any of that. I never really connected with Noa or Alden here. She was a bitch from the start and he fell in love with her quickly. I couldn't see why and that bothered me. I like being invested in the story and the characters, but just didn't get there. I also thought the ending was so abrupt. All the build up and then nothing. I hope to read more from this author but this felt like a book that was written before the others and was a first effort. I can't recommend it but if you haven't read the Accidentally series it is amazing so try that instead.

Awesome read.

I love the accidentally on purpose trilogy, tethered is one of my re-read just because Emmet and donya are comfort reading, however friction shows LD Davis is coming into her own. This story is a true love story that focuses on societal issues that plague or times drug abuse, domestic abuse, child abandon ment, social media cons and tv media half truths affecting ones personal life. All this told 1 book . Great job LD Davis.
