Holy fuck I think I need Dr Ryan in my life RIGHT ABOUT NOW. Please and fucking thank you!

Please be a joke. Please be a joke. I silently pray, waiting for the stranger to tell us he's only kidding!
Much to my dismay, my pleading goes unrewarded. Code red, this is not a drill. Houston, your and Courtney's big fat motormouths have caused a major problem. My mom's voice lovingly reminding me that sometimes I really need to "zip my lips" rings in my head as I realize this is my life right now, and not a joke.
This realization becomes painfully obvious as large form now standing beside me in the aisle casts a shadow over Courtney and me...

If you're looking for a laugh, or laughing so much you become your very own embarrassing idiot? Tick this box.

If you want a fun character that knows how to make you smile even when you've had a shit day? Tick another box.

If you are eager to find something that makes you flip the pages and get to the end before you even notice day light suddenly turned into an all nighter? Double tick that box!

If you want to drool over a sexy-fucking-alpha? Here's a tease and you be the judge of ticking that box or just kissing it because lets be honest - Ace fucking Ryan. Oh wait. Excuse me, DOCTOR A. Ryan note "the A is not a word that rhymes with massmole..."

The room falls silent around me as I continue my assessment...it's just his body, my list, and me.

He's got a broad build, a solid stature. One person might be inclined to pounce upon if given the chance or invitation. An Invitation! Can you Imagine?
Check.
Check.
And motherf-ing check.

If this man's face is anything like his body then I'd say he needs to unfurl his superhero cape and let my hero-worshipping begin.
...
I gasp as my eyes rake up, up and up to Professor Holy. F-ing. My.
My sudden dirty mind.
My sandpaper-filled mouth.
My quivering loins.
My. Flipping. Goodness.

See? And by pure coincidence "Snap Out of It" by the Arctic Monkeys ( my link text ) keeps fueling my gutter mind just by writing this.. not fair Gillian Jones Jesus f-ing Christ!!

Ok. Now to the story. But first, a cold drink....

Ellie Hughes is in her last year, nearing graduation, with her mind fully set in film adaptations. She can tell you any line from a movie that you'd least expect. I loved the little snippets of movie quotes she added to her descriptions and general convos. It made it fun to figure out if I knew which movie it came from. That quickly resulted in jotting down a very long to-watch list.

What can I say, I want that Professor Ryan approval *double wink because I look like a twitching idiot trying for just one eye*

Due to her leg injury, her passion for running has been cut very short. The scholarship that brought her into University of Toronto turned a complete 180 upon her realization that she will never be able to run professionally again. So finding a job to support her studies is at an all time high. And I know all to well how hard it is to find a job as a student, bloody experience and all that nonsense.

I definitely connected with Ellie on that level.

"Absolutely not. I'm not giving in that easy, and you shouldn't ask to me either, Mom. You always give in. I can't."

GO ELLIE!!

That is such a hard thing to say, especially to a parent so I was very proud of her for standing her ground.

Along her path in finding a job asap, she stumbles into one that seems to be her last resort. She can't keep looking only to be rejected and then thrown off campus. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and maybe sometimes, those can turn into hell of a crazy experiences. That's where, in walks in a new Ellie - Chanle69 Breathless Whispers.. Let me leave you breathless..."

It was so easy to follow along with Ellie's learning experience in a job that never in her life has she ever thought she'd find herself in. I didn't know what to expect going in, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well researched and natural it turned out.

Talking to her callers I honestly found myself laughing way too much. It was brilliant how Gillian made it so real BUT fun and sexy all in one.

I didn't know the type of book I desperately wanted to read until I opened the first page of Call Me...

"You're like a detective filmmaking-savant superhero for the sex trades. You film is not only going to cause waves, bringing awareness about real issues, it might actually stop from exploting kids. I'm fucking impresses, man,"

So am I Dylan!!

I adored the way Ace and Ellie or their alter egos (not wanting to spoil who Ace was...) interconnected. I knew one of the callers would be Ace and I had an inclining on which one but until the very end, it was hard to figure out. Either way, I loved what Ace stood for and what in the end, his film ended up representing.

Their banter is beyond words. I don't think I've laughed this much from just two character's dialogue. That and the steamy sexiness?? Holy mother of Mary was this book sexy. It should be thrown in holy water, but then, maybe even after that it would be too tainted to be anything but a guilty pleasure.

"Eep, Ace, this is going to be perfect!"

"You're damn straight is it."

She peers over her shoulder. "This article, Ace. Not my ass."

"Your opinion," I deadpan, before standing.

"Jeez, you're a pain."

"Get used to it. You're mine, Ellie. It's your new lot in life..."

I mean come on!! Can I be Professor's Ace's new fixation?

This is only a small snippet of what you're bound to get your ass tangled in... You wont be able to stop until you reached the end and then in need of more!! I am still waiting on book 2 Gillian!! LOL

Ellie and Ace's relationship was evident from the very beginning, their attraction was undeniable. Her relationship with her bestie was also one of my favorites. They are basically the pure example of me and my bestie where TMI is so far out of our reach, it might as well be non existent.

One thing though. I wish there was more Ace and Ellie. I know we already have so much banter that I had to dry off my tears of laughter before I could see the next chapter. But I just wish there was more of their relationship to see. I liked the insight into the Phone Sex Operator, it was very detailed and gave the story a slight thriller element. But again, I just wish we would have seen more of the months that they spent together. I loved their banter way to much for some of the instances to be rushed. Even though I understand why it was done and it welcomed in that beautiful ending, I just wanted more of Ace and Ellie outside of the sexy talk.

Other than that, this was definitely a 5 Star read!!

Stunning.

Sexy.

Hilarious.

Steamy.

Heartbreaking.

Intense.

After that struggle to revisit the checklist that makes Ace Ryan too mouth watering to stay sane, I think I need a tall cup of coffee. I was going to say wine but its 1pm... Although..

Make sure you pick up your copy and came back here so we can tick off the list together ;)

I absolutely loved Gillian's Pub Fiction series so I was really excited to read her newest standalone Call Me.
The storylines in Pub Fiction and Call me are so different from each other which let me be honest I loved because we get to see her versatility as an author and also get to see her step outside of her comfort zone. Gillian definitely delivered another amazing read and just keeps reminding me why she has become one of my favorite author's.
I loved how while touching on the subject of the phone sex trade it wasn't a dark read, if anything I found it to be a hot and somewhat light read considering the subject it covers.
We get introduced to great character's through out this book and the back and forth banter between them is what kept the lighter side to this book.
I loved Ellie and Ace and from their first meeting the chemistry between them is undeniable. Ace is a hot sexy dirty talking film professor.
Ellie is fiercely independent sassy and sweet at times film student in her finally year of college.
Due to unforseen circumstances Ellie takes a job at a phone sex line to cover her tuition.
This is where she takes on the roll of Chanel69.
I've got to be honest I found some of the scenes where Chanel69 was telling her stories hot as hell. She takes on the role as a phone sex operator as best she can.
And even gets herself some regular callers, but one in particular catches her attention more than the others and they form a type of friendship.
You really need to read this book and find out if Ellie and Ace well give into the attraction between them. Will Chanel69 find out who her favorite caller really is. plus you don't want to miss out on the hot and steamy scenes that Chanel69 gets to play out over the phone with her callers.
I actually liked the fact that it takes some time for the story to really build because once it does and you get into it you won't be able to put it down.
This is a 5 sexy and hot star read.

Ellie Hughes is a Canadian graduate studies film student. But when a sports injury cuts off her scholarship and finances for her final year become a real issue, Ellie takes a job with a phone sex company and the moniker Chanel69. Ace Ryan is Ellie’s hot new professor and thesis adviser. They quickly feel sparks between them, but how far can that go without bending the university’s policies and code of ethics?

Told via Ellie and Ace’s first person POV, this is a very slow burn romance with much of the novel depicting their time apart, not together. As a result, I really struggled to feel their chemistry and to get into their story together. I think more relationship build up with Ace in the beginning and less chapters about Ellie’s job would have gone a long way. Because when they finally lay out a possible relationship their dialogue sounded more like two nervous high school kids than two mature, educated adults.

On the flip side, I very much appreciated their maturity level when it came to not getting involved with other people simply because their student-teacher relationship was frowned upon. Sometimes a book without OW/OM drama, especially with a forbidden romance angle, can be hard to come by so I give this one major points for avoiding that dreaded troupe.

The strength of the story is definitely in the ending. It comes together well and avoids unnecessary angst. Plus the romance really picks up at this point too.

I was a little torn at times with the whole Chanel69/Jake thing. All in all I found it best not to over-analyze that angle too much. Although I did like the scene where they were basically crafting the sexy script together.

I think enjoyment of this book might depend a lot on what exactly you’re looking for. The detailed nature of Ellie’s calls make the story much stronger on the erotic end, while her scant interactions with Ace for the majority of the book make it weaker on the romance side. If you’re picking up this tale make sure the phone sex angle is a big drawl as it takes up a lot of chapters in the story. Also, there’s a lot of pages either dealing with or referencing various directors and films, particularly Star Wars. If you’re a film buff then this should be a 1-click read for you. If you’re not, then the references might start to get old.

Call Me is an upbeat teacher-student standalone erotic romance.

I gave this book 4.5 stars!

Call Me is not like any of the other books Gillian has written. This book is my favorite from her. I absolutely love Ace and Ellie. I have to say that this was the first book I have read that is based on this storyline. Thanks Gillian for popping my Cherry! This book covers in detail the sex industry and not every story get the happy ending that these two characters get. I love how Gillian was able to bring to light about this industry and what some of the stories we might not see or hear.

Ace and Ellie have chemistry from the start and both have to keep in check. Why? because Ellie is Ace's student. When Ellie learns that she can't run competitively any more, she will loose her her scholarship. She is 2 semesters away from getting her degree. After looking high and low her room mate and best friend Courtney offers a job that she never thought she would be able to do. She becomes Chanel69. For 3 nights a week she becomes your fantasies. When she feels like she can't go on until he calls...Jake. Jake is the one person she can talk to and not feel so dirty.

The problem is he seems familiar....but if is who I think it is, how her react when he finds out who I really am?

I hope Gillian continues with Courtney and the other girls at the call center. I for one would love to see what happens.

I read all books in PUB Fiction series and I really enjoyed them. So, I was curious what this new standalone with intriguing plot going to offer.

Honestly, I had a little trouble getting into the story at the beginning. But when I got in, I freakn got in. I couldn’t put down my kindle. I couldn't wait to find out what's coming up on the next chapter. The story and characters just drags you in.

If you read PUB Fiction series you can almost guess what to expect in Call Me. It just has to offer something more. Like more sexiness and adventurous in that aspect. I mean, our heroine, Ellie to reach her dream was forced to make a tough choice and become phone sex kitty. And it offered all kind of situations for her. Some snort worthy, some scary and some really intensive and hot.

I don't wanna to divulge all secrets in this story, so I wouldn't say anything much more. Just that I enjoyed Ellie & Ace. The tension between them were of the charts. I liked that I could not only feel it but was able to see and live it through it from theirs POVs.

Slow burn? More like thigh twitching, Underwear change Tease!!!

This is a story love and definitely delayed gratification! Ellie has got through college on a sports scholarship as she's an excellent runner but her studies and her final job hopes are in movies. She wants to do screen adaptions of books. In her final year an injury to her knee forces her to stop running. Without a scholarship she has no money to pay her fee's. She searches for a job but with restrictions because of her knee her opportunities are limited. She hears about a job at a phone sex company which would more than cover her fees and allow her to rest her knee. She's reluctant but has no other choice.

In her first week back she meets her new tutor Ace Ryan. Instantly there's an attraction from both of them but because of the student teacher thing they both know nothing can happen. The story goes from here.

What an absolute tease this book is! Usually i like to dive straight in with the sexy times but with this book i was more than happy to let it smoulder! If i was a man my parts would 100% have been blue! OMG! From the start there's a spark and through various ways it slowly ignites growing into a flame by the end it's a god damn inferno!! Thank the lord or the book gods or whoever but at last!!!!!!!! phewwwww!!! As i said I'm usually a straight in gal no messing but i found i really enjoyed the foreplay and it kept the story ticking over nicely.

Ellie is an awesome character. Funny and witty. Clever and sensible. Sexy and outgoing. She's the whole package and i loved her! The way she embraces her job but at the same time maintains some of her innocence was really well written and drew me to her.

Ace... oohhhh gorgeous, sweet, caring, bossy, clever, funny, spectacle wearing Ace!!! I want one of my own!! He has just the right amount of filth while maintaining the professional professor persona. Wowzers his words could just melt you on the spot! YUM!

I liked how the book felt kind of light and sweet but still dealt with some very serious issues of the sex trade and the dangers it can entail whether it be on the phone or out on the street. It wasn't shoved in your face but it was there none the less making you think.

The film references for me was great! I'm a huge film fan and the discussions about it were of great interest to me. I could totally relate to the discussions.

The supporting cast Aces friends Mercer and Dylan were great additions to the story allowing him to talk out his frustrations. Ellie's friend Court and her call center friend Destiny were the lighter relief. A particular scene between Ellie and Court had me howling with laughter. Tears rolling down my face!! you'll know when you hit it what scene i mean. Ohhhhh and these lot need books too!!! Forget standalone i want more!!

I would highly recommend this book to anyone especially those who love a good tease and delayed gratification! 5 "69" stars!!!!

Unpopular review ALERT

I Will never discourage anyone from reading a book, My peeves are my own. So while this wasn't for me, please decide for yourself.

Ellie is a bit perfect. She probably every star wars fan fantasy girl.  As Ace would say Manfanning.

She has a injury lost her scholarship, and gets as a job doing phone sex to pay her way.

Ace is a teacher, Ellie's teacher, and he doing a project on the sex trade.

If your a star wars fan, and a movie buff you may really like this book.

So if you do not want to read my negative thoughts on the book do not continue.

yikes

I feel that was enough space.

The author has a teacher/student romance on lock on this one, but she doesn't throw these two together. There is more inner dialogue then actual conversation.

The author used 3 pages to describe Ace, Now i'm all about the description of the hero, preferably naked, but 3 pages was a bit excessive.

Now that is when I was like, I need to put the book down, I know it's not for me, but I needed to get to the phone sex part, because well

17 slut

So I pushed on.

Now the phone sex was somewhat hot, and some were

painful

Lol, I've always wanted to use this gif,

So the book really centers around her job, and Ace is kinda just put on the back burner.

I just don't understand why we couldn't have both.

Around 70% of the book, they start dating, in which we don't get to witness.

Just recaps and flashbacks or their time together. They keep sex out of the equation because well he's a teacher, and she is a student.

They date  awhile... I think, it's hard to tell, but I'm assuming long enough that her job should have came up. If it did come up, the reader was not privy to it.

Lastly, why did she feel bad and guilty about her job? When she was just doing her job....

All in all,  I expected more, and I was disappointed.

"... I hate feeling like we’re doing something wrong when deep down I know it’s nothing but right."

This is the first standalone from Gillian Jones outside of the pub fiction series and we have Ellie Hughes who is in her last year of university but a setback has her needing a job asap, a phone sex operator has never been in her plans but she needs a job and if it pays well enough to keep her in her studies, what's a girl to do?
And then there's her new Professor Ace Ryan...

“Breathless Whispers, this is Chanel. Let me leave you breathless,”

I loved Ellie! She is driven, smart, head strong and a little dorky which just made for some cute and hilarious moments! I adored her friendship with her best friend Courtney! They were ridiculous in the best way possible. Gillian has a knack for creating great friendships in each of her books!

"Therefore, from this moment forth, I shall crown you ‘Chanel69’, phone sex operator extraordinaire!"

Ace... I love that man! He made me giddy. He is smart and sexy. His alpha side may be a bit tamed but it's totally there. I also was really interested in what he was working on throughout this book!

'Ellie’s my reality.
My leading lady.
My trifecta.'

I loved this so much. It was done in such a classy way, the different sides of the industry in this book were explored instead of just the sexy aide to it. It was seriously sexy too though - that couple phonecall... Damn. Just saying. It was sweet too with Gillian's signature humour sprinkled into it too, I definitely laughed out loud a couple of times! I love the pub fiction series but I'm so glad Gillian took a step out of her comfort zone because it was so worth it.

We have Ellie who lost her sports scholarship and resorts to being a phone sex operator to pay for her Master's Program. Her new professor, Doctor Ace Ryan is working undercover on a documentary about the sex industry. During this time they both developed a crush on each other but they can't act on it because it's not allowed. The whole student/teacher thing. Now with the way this was set up I was expecting there to be some drama and angst. Ellie spent majority of her time at work and developed a regular caller name "Jake". They spent several months talking and developed a friendship. I felt more of a connection with her and Jake. I wish that we would have gotten more time with her and Ace. They spent a lot of time together in school and the times outside of the school seemed rushed. The story was cute and funny but I felt like there was some loose ends regarding her father that needed to be tied up. The ending was a little flat for me but it's still a cute story. I loved the "Kill Bill" references! If you are looking for a funny, low angst book, this book is definitely for you.

Who knew being a sex operator was so hot. HFS this book will get your motor going and you will need to stock up on batteries. I freaking loved this book so much I want to become a sex operator. The book was very fun and sexy to read. Some of the calls were very funny and made me wonder where Gillian Jones got her ideas for the while others were so hot I had to change my panties. In Elle's real life she is extremely hot for her teacher and uses her fantasies of him to help with her job, but she's got one caller that really gets her juices flowing. Yet he seems familiar. If you love to laugh then this book will have you in stitches. Each one of Gillian Jones books get better and better. Call Me is a fun sexy witty read that will suck you in from the very beginning. I can't wait to see what Gillian Jones writes next

Gillian has done it again with this book, her writing is exciting, funny and passionate! Ellie and Ace had an explosive chemistry that was obvious right from their first meeting... Ellie was a sassy, headstrong lady whose fiesty attitude catches the attention of Ace the confident, gorgeous and intelligent professor in her film class. Ellie finds herself working for a phone sex line to pay her way through her final year of college and this is where the fun begins! From the first page until the last this book was entertaining, the characters were warm, witty, sexy and hot as hell. Everyone needs to experience this book!!

With the sexy teasers this is going to be a sexy read and you won't be disappointed the phone sex scenes are on point you can feel it when Ellie and her caller interact.
I love the characters Ellie and Ace, her quirkiness, her love of movies. My fave thing about her she wants to turn book into great film adaptation, I so agree with this, reading a great book and seeing it made into a film is a reader's dream.
Instant attraction between Ace and Ellie as they eye boink each other, her friend's words not mine. I must admit some parts were slow for me and seem to drag but this is a good read.

This is my first book by Gillian and I will say it's just the beginning. I loved the storyline of the book! Ace and Ellie are a great couple even though they aren't.

Ellie takes her job on as Chanel69 and does a great job at making fantasies for lonely men. Except for her caller Jake. (I laughed bc I thought of "Jake from State Farm") the first time I read their scene together. Just my humor. But I, like Ellie, anticipated for his calls to her. They were my favor calls as it was for her lol.

Ace is the untouchable attractive professor. Man from how I imagined him I would've taken whatever class he taught! He was so wrapped up in Ellie and only her. I loved how he was flirted with but he didn't act. It was refreshing to have a book with no other people involved.

Ace and Ellie have so much sexual tension going on. You are just dying to have them just get on with it. And when it finally happens you just want to jump for joy! I will say I would LOVE to see more of them! Maybe we will get more of them!

I did like the side characters of Jax and Court. Even Mercer. I wouldn't mind seeing where they go as well!

WOW!!! I Really Enjoyed This Book, It Just The Right Mix To Pull Off This Great Story With Out It Becoming A Full On Sex Filed Borefest. I Think The Mix Of It Sex And Story Was Great And I Can Honestly Say I Loved Every Minute. With Some Of Scenes Getting You All Hot and Bothered Too Was A Complete Bonus.

Dr Ace Ryan OMG!!! How Do I Describe Every Young Girls Fantasy In A Teacher. He Is Hot, Sexy And Has A Great Brain On Him. Ellie, On The Same Note Is Just The Same As Ace. She Has Balls, Even When Her Life Takes A Horrible Twist. She Fights Back. Get a Job As A Phone Sex Operator. Needing To Do Something To Change It.

This Story Is A Beautiful Love Story, That Has Your Heart Racing At Times And A Cat And Mouse Story That Drives You Crazy. Gillian Again Show That She Is A Great Writer, That Moves You With Her Words. Bravo To Her For Another Great Book. I Highly Recommend It.

Holy mother Hubbard in her cupboard. I just finished Call Me by Gillian Jones and it was SENSATIONAL. Without doubt one of the best student/teacher books I've read. Everything about this book is PERFECTION! From the likeable characters, to the all consuming connection that SIZZLES through this book, to the kick ass storyline that is written brilliantly. Call Me is a TOP, TOP September read for me!

I absolutely loved everything about this book so I honestly don't know where to start with my review. I probably could talk about it all day and not get bored, Gillian lit up this book with so many good points that electrified this bookworm all the way through.

Call Me is seriously sexy, SUPER DUPER HOT! Ellie our lead female, who, may I add is absolutely amazing, works as a sex line call worker. Gillian played out Ellie's role perfectly throughout this whole book, the initial uncertainty was written so well that I felt exactly like Ellie did. But Ellie's development into her role was what I loved most and the calls were some of the hottest moments of the book. But here is where I must discuss Ace! Firstly, why didn't I have a teacher like him to ogle at, at school? Everything about Ace is HOT! The initial description we get will give you the best visuals, his POV will make you fall deep in love with him and the sexy parts will leave you breathless, the man is pure, seductive SIN. The connection written between Ellie and Ace is electrifying, you feel it grow and burn with each and every chapter, add in the alter ego phone calls and WOW! Seriously a gym has never sounded so appealing!

What is also great about Call Me though is the underlying message Gillian writes in. All of Gillian's books have touched on real issues that aren't always talked about on a wide scale. While Ellie's job a times in Call Me appears quite fun, Gillian manages to balance the good and bad throughout, keeping things real.

As I said Call Me is now one of my fave student teacher books. It's light, it's fun, it's ridiculously hot and super sexy. There is no big drama but do you know what? It didn't need it, Call Me is captivating and a huge 5 star read for me!

I am an avid fan of Gillian and was so excited to see this hotty rock up on my Kindle.

Gillian has defiently stepped outside of her comfort zone on this one from the pub scene and straight into the sex industry and I was so happy to see where her mind took us.

Call Me started off showing the amazing research that Gillian actually put in behind her book and I loved that added detail.

Ellie was a free spirit, she was lively, full of hope and a determined soul. To make quick money and stay in school she becomes Chanel69, ready to leave you breathless on the other end of the phone.

Doctor Ace Ryan is the dreamy teacher that students just daydream about in class, but his eyes didn't venture far from Ellie.

Though this has a teacher/student scenario I didn't find the whole forbidden romance, these two MCs are older than our normal students in this situation.

Ellies and Aces relationship was sweet and quite dreamy.

Gillian has done an amazing job with this book, my only personal let down was I needed more agnst. I wanted more of that forbidden feeling and them to work out who was on the other end of the phone earlier and maybe more play on that

I love discovering 'new to me' authors and Gillian Jones has literally rocked the proverbial socks right off my feet with Call Me! I love going into a book blind and once I figured out this was a student/teacher book, well...*cue the giddy book nerd anthem* EEEP! Obviously I was in heaven! I am beyond obsessed with this trope! Oh, hello, my dearest friend, Mr. Taboo. How I 'heart' thee.

'I've always been extra careful to maintain my professionalism and to make sure to never put myself in a compromising position. But with just one look at her, all thoughts went exactly there: to all the compromising positions in which I could put this beautiful girl.'

Well, hot damn! Call Me is definitely a book that stands out compared to the dozens of others that I've read. Unmistakably unique in story-line, diversely rich in characters, chock full of witty banter and THAT loophole-y twist. If you are hot and heavy into Student/Teacher taboo like I am, this book is a must read!! They're both adults, so get your panties untwisted. This is classy smut *wink*

I don't want to give away all the juicy, sexually laced goodness. So, dig in and enjoy the wild ride that is Ace & Ellie.

Class, Discretion, and the Happy Ending.

3.5 Kinky Heels

With the sexy teasers this is going to be a sexy read and you won't be disappointed the phone sex scenes are on point you can feel it when Ellie and her caller interact.

I love the characters Ellie and Ace, her quirkiness, her love of movies. My fave thing about her she wants to turn book into great film adaptation, I so agree with this, reading a great book and seeing it made into a film is a reader's dream.

Instant attraction between Ace and Ellie as they eye boink each other, her friend's words not mine. I must admit some parts were slow for me and seem to drag but it is s good read.

WOW!!! I Really Enjoyed This Book, It Just The Right Mix To Pull Off This Great Story Without It Becoming A Full On Sex Filled Borefest. I Think The Mix Of Sex And Story Was Great And I Can Honestly Say I Loved Every Minute.

Holy blazing book read! This book had me cracking up, (noisy popsicles, hairy toes) I had a huge smile on my face throughout most of the book. Some of the scenarios she had to come up with as her sex operator persona was definitely jaw dropping.

The chemistry between Ace and Ellie is hot, hot and more hot. The build up between these two is such a slow burn and has you rubbing your hands together because you know when they finally get together it's going to burn your kindle up. They fight their attraction, circle around what they feel for each other until they just can't handle it anymore.

I absolutely love Gillian's writing style, I'm always pulled into the book and usually laughing at some point. She brings the characters to life and I always feel like I'm right there with them.

*slight spoilers*

There's a couple of things that go through my head as I start a new book.
-Did it grab me from the beginning?
-Did it hold my attention!
And
-Did the synopsis give a good accurate description of the book.
And the answer to those questions are no, yes and no but mostly no. And no.

I was really looking forward to reading this book. The synopsis grabbed me right away and so did the cover. I thought oh yes... this is something I really want to read. Then we have the bonus of it being a teacher/student book too! (My ultimate favorite!) and a nice surprise. Since I had no clue that was going to be part of the story line.

But early on.... I had a little hard time with it. This book took me a long time to get into. I had to push myself to keep reading.

I feel kind of bad. Because I just read a book like this. And I couldn't help but compare the two books.
That other book was the M/M version of this book. Same topic PSO just different storyline. The guy needed money to pay his bills and student loans off. This one was a teacher/student book where the student needed money to stay in school.
Well... I guess that M/M book set the bar for PSO books for me. Because.... Hotline by Quinn Anderson just grabbed my attention right from the beginning.
This book....I felt should have started with a bang! To grab your attention.
The whole sport injury and movie talk took away from the story for me.

The build up was really slow. It just didn't grab me right from the beginning. I felt my attention was split between track, school, movie topics and movie references and the documentary. Then we have the whole PSO (Phone Sex Operator) thing. I felt it was way too much. And the PSO job doesn't even happen right away. You have to read until 29% to get there. And that's with someone else talking on the phone. Ellie finally started talking at the 37% mark.

And that's when the book started to get interesting. But it came in waves. This book would pick up... then slow down then pick up again then slow down again. That was hard for me. Because it seriously messed up the flow of the book for me.
Also too... this book felt a little heavy with all the talk about human trafficking, evaluation of the sex industry in this day in age(the documentary).

Here's a sample... all this movie talk just felt too informational for me.

Ace-

"Now, here I am, years later, almost finished creating my first full-length documentary, one I plan on entering in the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). My film, Sex for Sale, showcases how the digital age is forcing the sex industry to reevaluate and update itself to keep up with the times, and takes a closer look at how said changes are impacting business, the internet, anthropology and life in general. It questions whether the digital age is making it easier for human trafficking to occur, and for seedy businesses to hire underage workers and pay them less in today’s sex trade industry, all while asking if one-on-one contact is becoming obsolete. With the increases in technology, will there still be any requirement for the traditional prostitute and pimp? The stripper? Are webcam operations and phone sex lines the new go-to? Will apps like Tinder and Grindr finally make the government regulate an industry that has no signs of slowing down, which the digital age is only helping to grow? I’m hoping my documentary will make viewers question the need for government intervention, that people will see that we need to protect these workers as we do all other dangerous occupations, how regulating the sex trades may create less opportunity for violence, human trafficking, and a slew of other issues that stem from non-governmental involvement."

I mean... what!

I even re-read the synopsis to see if I missed something. I thought I was going to be reading a light phone sex, talk dirty to me kind of book. I mean... that's the vibe I got from the synopsis.
Yes... we do get the phone sex experience. But with a hefty dose of all the other stuff too! I mean we also get these long dialogues about movies and and all the different types of movies there are out there. And about actors.

"Ellie is very distracting. She’s gorgeous, and from what I’ve seen so far, she’s bright too. She’s always ready to offer her opinion, and seems to have a real passion for gender equality in films, referencing the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media and Emma Watson as huge influences, women who’ve inspired her as a female wanting to work in the industry. Ellie went on about how Geena Davis is a force in the equal representation of women in film movement, sharing how Davis encourages all women to demand an equitable working environment; from actresses to grips, no woman should allow herself to be underpaid or made to feel less relevant than her male counterparts. Ellie spoke with so much conviction that I did more research into the Geena Davis Institute. For the first time, one of my students sparked a curiosity in me so strong that I decided to immediately catch myself up on the Institute’s progress. It’s been a few years since I’ve looked into it, wanting to become more conscientious of the lack of equality that might exist for many of my students in the industry. I hadn’t really revisited the topic since I included a few examples in an article on gender bias which I published in Reel West magazine. I was very impressed with the work being done by these two actors. Along with Ellie’s passion, the combination led me to decide this was something I needed to stay current on. I’d like to keep better informed about the issues facing women in the film industry so much that I have now liked and followed both Davis and Watson on social media. Aside from equality, I’ve also come to discover that Ms. Hughes is obsessed with film adaptations. That was another tangent that I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her go on about."

Example #3

Ellie

"Have you ever read a book that completely blew your mind? I’m talking totally ruining you, leaving you thinking about it for months after. The book hangover you’ve only felt that every once upon a special time. Everything about it leaving a lasting impression, as if it were imprinting itself in your soul, heart, and memory. The characters. The storyline. The ending. Each piece of its complete package allowing you the perfect type of escapism, an escape you didn’t even know you were craving at that moment in your life. Movies give me my biggest hangovers. More precisely, film adaptations. I’m obsessed with movies that have come from the world’s greatest literature. How couldn’t you be? It’s seriously the best of both worlds, seeing the characters you’ve imagined in your mind coming to life on the big screen. Nothing can beat the feeling of a truly brilliant film adaptation, like seeing Ewan McGregor, as Mark Renton, experiencing heroin addiction in Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting, seeing how real the struggle is as it plays out in a two-hour film, accompanied by a soundtrack that complements it to perfection. Or better yet, Boris Pasternak’s tale, Doctor Zhivago, one of my all-time favourites; watching a complicated story of love unfold before my eyes, confirming it is indeed as beautiful as I knew it to be in my imagination when I read the book. Now, don’t get me wrong, there are bad ones out there, ones that do not do justice to the literary geniuses that penned the tales, but I hope to be one of the greats. I will be one of the greats. One day, I will be a screenwriter like Trainspotting’s John Hodge or Zhivago’s Robert Bolt, bringing these books to life for the masses. I, Ellie Hughes, will be the person writing and creating some of the most amazing film adaptions to grace the silver screen, ones people will fall in love with, not the kind where people say: “It was awful, nothing like the book.” ”

I seriously clung to the parts where Ace and Ellie had their conversations. Because I felt I was being shoved this information. Maybe all this information wouldn't have bothered me if I had something holding my attention. I felt like the author could have incorporated her character's love and passion for their movie and documentary interest. But cut back on all the information that was being thrown at you.

One thing that really came across to me in this book was that this author is a really big movie buff. And she really took her time analyzing and comparing all kinds of different movies for this book.
But... me personally. Did not see how all this movie talk tied in with the whole PSO storyline. I'm 55% in and so far from that point. It's been all about movies, school, knee injury. With sprinkles of PSO parts.

The relationship between Ellie and Ace was hard to get behind. Because everything with them was about school and movies. I needed way more from them.
Now as for the phone sex. I wasn't feeling the whole voice changer both characters used. It just didn't work for me. I just felt them hiding behind it.

The ending of this book was ok. Ace and Ellie were totally hot together. The phone sex they had was pretty hot. I just wish we would have gotten more of them then the other stuff.

I really wished this book would have worked out.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Ellie Hughes. College student, athlete, and an all around amazing person. She's in desperate need of money......quick. She's about to start a new job and become Chanel 69. As Chanel she is the star of late night fantasies. Bringing to life fetishes and everything in between. Ellie is really unsure if she will be able to pull off doing this job but it's the only choice she has. One late night call. A instant connection and with time, her regular becomes her friend and confidant. He's so familiar and Ellie is pretty sure she knows who he is. If her suspicions prove correct how will her regular react when he finds out she is Chanel69?

This is Gillian Jones fourth novel. I've read and loved every single one of them. With Call Me Gillian Jones dives into the world of the sex trade. While you don't get the seedy dirty dangerous side of the business you do see how someone could get sucked into this world. While on the milder side of the sex trad industry you do get a hint of just how awful a situation some of these girls could actually be in.

With that said I loved this book. Ellie is a college student so close to finishing her Masters degree in film when her whole world is blown apart. Ellie is desperate to finish school and work in the film industry. She has big plans but has to find a way to pay for her last months of college. Thus begins her career as a Phone Sex Superhero. Her professor too is a new one to the school and is her teacher in two classes. The attraction is instant but he is determined to not cross the line with Ellie. Dr Ryan is funny, an amazing caring professor and a huge movie buff. He and Ellie share a love for movies. It makes for some laugh out loud moments between the two. He's also making a documentary film about the sex trade industry. He's down to just a couple of the areas he needs to cover and phone sex operator is one of them. Ellie and Ace are such amazing characters. I swear if they were real people you'd want them to be your fiends. Their so much fun to spend time with.

Call me is filled with movie references, laughter, love, forbidden moments, courage and love. Gillian Jones has done an amazing job with this book and I so enjoyed getting to see a lot more of her humorous side in Call Me. If your already a fan of Gillian Jones you do not want to miss this book. if your new to her books, Call Me is the perfect one to start with. I for one can not wait to get her next book in my hot little hands. Amazing job Gillian Jones. You created two characters, a cast of friends and a world I didn't want leave.

*Carla's Three Star Review

Call Me is the new standalone by Gillian Jones. I fell in love with Gillian's writing style in her Pub Fiction series, so I was beyond excited to read this book. I have to be honest. The beginning of the book was a little slow for me, so I initially had some trouble getting into the story. However, as the story progressed, I was completely drawn in.

Ellie's dream is to finish college and find a job working in the film industry in and around the Toronto area. Being raised by a single mom, Ellie knew she would have to rely on a sport's scholarship to help pay her expenses at the University of Toronto. Ellie worked hard, earned her scholarship, and is now working her way towards accomplishing her dreams. Life is great until she gets injured and loses her scholarship. She is forced to make some tough choices which result in her working as a phone sex operator. Her plan is to work hard and study harder. What (or who should I say) she didn't factor into her plan was Dr. Ace Ryan. He is one of her professors and the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on. As Ellie and Ace get to know each other, it is obvious that they share a special connection. With so much to lose, will they be able to maintain the proper teacher/student relationship, or will their mutual attraction prove too much to resist?

Overall, I thought this was a pretty good read. As I stated earlier, some parts of the book were a bit slow for me, but I still enjoyed the story line. I mean who doesn't like a story about forbidden love?

Loved Gillian's Pub Fiction Series, seriously hot, so I was excited to finally read Call Me. Loved it!
Call Me is a sexy fun read, with a lot of Gillian's witty humor.
Ellie Hughes is a college student who loses her scholarship due to a sports injury. Desperate to find work to stay in school, she takes her best friends suggestion and takes a job as a sex operator.
Ace is Ellie's new professor, and he is working on a documentary on Sex Trade Industry.
I can't say enough how much I loved the characters in this book!

Ellie is witty, smart and sensible and let's not forget sexy and a little outgoing. I loved the banter between her and her BFF Court. Omg I laughed so hard when they were trying to come up with a sexy name for Ellie's new job. The banter between these two was hilarious. Everyone needs a BFF like Court.

Ace, OMG what can I say about Ace!?!? Hot, Alpha male Ace. The hot sexy professor was witty. Bossy and so charming you'll be falling for him right from the start.

The moment Ellie and Ace meet you can cut the sexual tension with a knife. The attraction is so strong, you just keep hoping they'll cross that line. This is not your usual Student/Teacher romance.

Gillian did an amazing job with the story line, it lets you see the different sides to the industry. The characters are so well written you will wish they were your friends.

Do yourself a favor and one click, you will not be disappointed.
