With the great battle between man and the undead apparently won and the situation seemingly in hand, the president leaps into action to take all the credit he can for saving the country and defending the Quarantine Zone. Surrounded by battalions of television news crews, he authorizes operation Swift Stand in which he commits the nation’s entire rapid deployment force in a show stopping extravaganza designed more to rekindle patriotic fervor and to lift his own sagging poll numbers than to stop the undead.
Unfortunately, there have been leaks in the hard fought line and by the time the 82nd Airborne Division is dropped into central Connecticut, there are flesh hungry zombies wreaking havoc in Hartford, ten miles behind their lines.
Suddenly, there is no line.
Day three devolves into chaos as no one knows who is infected and who isn’t. Battles break out everywhere: soldier against soldier, and brother against brother, with fearsome zombies waiting to feast on the winners.
In the middle of all the mayhem, Deckard and Thuy are fighting not just to stay alive, but to find each other in a land that now belongs solely to the dead.
Peter Meredith is the multi-genre author of an author of 35 novels in a variety of genres: Horror, zombies, post-apocalypse and Fantasy. Some of his creative work includes The Trilogy of Void, The Hidden Lands series, The Sacrificial Daughter, A Perfect America, Sprite and The Apocalypse Undead World. Having tried his hand in real estate, as an emergency room nurse, and a CEO of a national lighting company, he has come to find that his true addiction is as an author.
Very disappointing ending to this trilogy. There's a meager attempt to resolve the story line, but it feels at lot more like the author just abandoned it. The main characters are left holding all kinds of loose ends. I can only compare it to the last show of the season for a mediocre TV series, when they don't know if they'll be renewed or not.
So fast. So fast they spread. In just three days the zombie infestation covered half the Eastern seaboard.
The smartest woman around couldn't stop them. The best soldiers ran or died facing them. A child held a city hostage. The zombie infestation numbered in the thousands. Hell, they number in the millions. Nothing can stop them. Nothing.
Strong characters drive the fight to survive. Evil lives in beautiful faces. The blood and destruction overwhelms the bravest. Nothing can stop the horror. A brilliant storyline drives remarkable characters with no time to stop the spread of the relentless terror. Fleeing to survive is the only solution. Stay ahead and stay alive.
This series is the best Zompocalypse series I've read. Heart-pounding action on every page. This is a great read!
Man oh man these books are a ride and a half!! I'm actually a little tired when I finish one as though I have been running right along with my favorite characters! There are so many exciting scenes going at the same time that there is absolutely no boring pages at all. It's full on edge of your seat thrill from the get go. If you are the least bit interested in this genre you must read this series. You won't be disappointed and you definitely won't be bored.
I'm hoping two people die the next book, as I hate them; to me, that means the author has done their job well.
Spoiler alert--the dog dies. Sundance had to be killed because he had goo all over him and infected one of the good guys (he wasn't killed as punishment but because he'd infect whomever petted him).
Rarely do I forget what I read, especially when I really enjoy the storyline, but this almost feels like a first timer. I like the story so much it’s fantastic! I can let myself get lost and live in it for short periods, give me an M4 and a foxhole!!
In only 3 days, the infected have grown unmanageable by the military. And chaos is reigning in more than one state. Hard to put down, there's no rest for the characters or me as i read this
Fast paced continuation of the crusade books. Without any spoilers definitely worth the read, if you've read the first books in this series you'll want to continue the story with day 3.
Wait?!?!? Now important organs can grow back? Since when? How?
Not like piranha they feed once then stop.
A woman squatting to pee wouldn’t have her pants at her ankles, they’d get wet that way. If she couldn’t see anyone why did she go into the woods?
Wait did the author just say a zombie ambled 11 miles in 3 hours? The average person walks about that pace, a zombie doing it shambling mindlessly?Lol no.
Repeatedly it’s mentioned there’s videos online. There’s no way even the most incompetent president would allow things to progress so poorly or really not progress at all. Even the other staff would have stepped in over the one guy. And Congress/senate would demand response.
SHOW DON’T TELL the whole scene of Shannon trying to get out of the room is a perfect example how poorly the writer gets this concept. Who the hell is going to speak out loud every move in such a situation. Also blood wouldn’t coagulate that fast especially if there’s a lot and no way would it help her grip.
Twe is covered in pee but Jerome takes first shower?
When they get to Hartford was the writer trying to see just how many times he could repeat “the wall” or does he just needs a thesaurus
Someone having information that’s based on the start of things and not knowing something that’s new especially with spotty coms is not unrealistic. Just a convoluted excuse and poor writng
Police have tanks and are mostly militarized. They put out a bigger response for college kids doing a sit in or a sports game riot but can’t handle a dire emergency?
Sneaked not snuck.
They can’t manage to protect mere miles or get supplies in hot zone but suddenly people and planes and gear are available to stop them from escaping via water?
Stop using “except” he says empty except and lists all kinds of stuff. Naked except for… it’s so contrary and repetitively done.
Is burying Wilson the best use of time and energy especially since they’d already be so exhausted.
One minute military is saying the can’t hold lines and don’t have enough men or supplies but then anytime the heroes try to get anywhere suddenly there’s fighters and lines blocking them everywhere.
The concept of civilization has been around more than 300 years. The concept of modern bullshit is 300 years old.
How have they been eating drinking or sleeping?
Again why are there random sharp teethed zombies? And the author already said they don’t have such teeth and need to take painful bites. And the sun sensitivity. Again more vamp than zombie.
So the actual military has orders not to shoot but the coast guard can fire in a boat that’s not showing wrapons
Why would ang and Anna leave the hostages alone to speak to the cops:guards.
Ang and Anna just threatened everyone now ang is all about Lea omg the hostages behind while trying to sneak past the guards and fences?
There’s no way soldiers walked a steady 5 mph for 40 miles in 8 hours after fighting and carrying gear.
20 mill long islanders not right. Even as of 2020 it’s a little over 8 million and so is NYC so even if everyone from NYC fled to the island it’s still under 20 million
You have repeatedly stated long island. Do you really need to add the extra verbiage to define “the Island“ as what the locals called Long Island if you have been repeatedly talking about Long Island and then take the island most people with a few free towels left that’s what you are into. Even though Manhattan is technically an island to you have not used that verbiage to refer to New York City nor do any locals use island to refer to NYC
Chinese fire drill is inappropriate
Also NYPD is heavily militarized with gear. Also one of the largest police forces in the world.
The author has spent the span of three books telling us how busy everybody is healthy people they are available how do you resources there are available but all of a sudden now Lang and Anna are worried that spy/surveillance equipment it’s going to be used to overhear their plans. While NYC does have a device that does that they would definitely not be deploying phone tapping and strapping equipment during a zombie apocalypse
There’s no mention of sexual or erotic nature of the “hunger” but the author mentions a child finds Twe’s almost sexual in nature? What the hell?
Is the author unable to describe deckers feet/boots as anything other than size 13 shit kickers? Because every time he mentions it, it’s the same phrase every time.
How has chuck and Stephanie been in the dark for three days when this is just day three?
How are they getting and carrying all this ammo all the time.
The author keeps talking about worrying about keeping the Pennsylvania border secure from zombies because it is such a large border but he has not once mentioned the fact that Manhattan and Long Island are island so even if they infected they are essentially south if they break down the bridges and tunnels and cut off all access if Pennsylvania is taking over that means the whole rest of the country is now susceptible to being invaded by the zombies because there are no longer any borders to prevent their movement
Of all the crimes to list being on the decrease you list pedophilia? How random.
I'm a little biased about Peter Meredith to begin with. I've enjoyed all his stories. The characters are mostly everyday people fighting to survive against all odds. Fast paced and captivating!
Sometimes I get into zombie mode and read several books in a row with zombies. This one wasn't the best, it wasn't one of the worst, but it's a decent way to kill some time.
Another winner for Peter Meredith. The story just keeps getting more and more exciting. Hopefully there is another chapter in the very near future. If you haven't read any of Peter's books you need to get started, they are all winners!
Peter Meredith is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. Once I start one of his books it's practically glued to my hands until the very end. Bravo Good Sir!
Mr. Meredith has done it again, an excellent addition to the series. Can't wait for day 4. Characters are well developed, story is highly entertaining, and the twists and turns are excellent.
I loved day 3(how is it only day 3?!). I read this before I found out day 4 was coming and that totally changed my mind about my star rating. I thought everyone would be just...left where they were but no. Day 4 is coming!
