You need to read Making the Rules prior to reading this book.
Kendal is struggling with the loss of his sister Amanda and it leaves Dana trying to work out how she can help Kendal get through the trauma.
Sworn off love, Kendal is determined that his rules not be broken. However, he really needs the warmth, companionship and the reminder that he is still alive which Dana is desperately trying to give him. Dana is frustrated as to how to break through Kendal’s defences.
This book was heartbreaking at times, an emotional rollercoaster of a read.
Kendal hasn’t had a relationship in over 6 years and really doesn’t want to open himself up to the pressures and the dangers that dating one of his students could bring down on him. Dana. Throw in a woman from his past that is determined to get him at any cost and complications arise on all fronts; not least of which is with his boss who wants the money that this woman can bring to the department.
Will Kendal give up his teaching job? Will Dana be prepared to change schools so as not to break his rules?
Stay tuned as no doubt Ali Parker has more in store for this couple before they get to their HEA. Another cliff hanger but honestly that is what I have come to expect from Ali Parker.

I definitely did not expect this book to end the way it did, I can hardly wait for the next one to come out. Should have expected this book to end with a suspenseful cliff hanger!!!!

Once burned and twice shy UT professor Dr. Kendal Tarrington vows never to become involved with another student until he meets business and Nursing major Dana Young but some unforeseen events threaten their budding relationship. This is the emotional first segment of their saga and includes the multiple broken relationships involving their friends, some hospital drama, some deaths, and Kendal's struggle to keep his position at the college.

This book has Ali Parker's style of writing from page one. We are put on a emotional rollercoaster tick, hot male tick, great female lead tick and lets not forget the cliffhangers......
Before you start reading Bending the Rules please make sure that you have read the first book in this series or you will be completely lost.
Kendal is still struggling to get over the death of his sister and rather than talk about it he's shut shut himself down completely emotionally. Dana on the other hand is struggling to figure out how to get through to Kendal and break down his walls he has built around himself so that she can be there for him whilst he grieves. Dana wants to show Kendal on how to live his life again and be the one thong that he needs in his life right by his side and to keep him warm at night.
Kendal is struggling to keep his rules and not let history repeat itself once again. So what happens when a face from his past makes a reappearance in his life and is hell bent on getting what she wants from him no matter what it takes.
This book is a emotional rollercoaster and ends in a major cliffhanger but if your like me and a fan of Ms Parkers work you know to expect cliffhangers.

First, you have got to read “Making The Rules” prior to this one in order to understand the dynamics of Kendal and Dana’s Relationship. With him reeling from the death of his sister and closing himself off emotionally, Dana struggles on how to get thru his defences in order to be there for him. While she understands his rules and why he has them, it doesn’t mean she’s going to abide by them! Dana is adamant she will show Kendall how to keep on living…she can be what he needs, a friend, and a warm body in his bed. But he struggles to maintain his rules in order to keep going each day…no way can he let his past repeat itself.
But that’s exactly what happens…a woman from his past is hell bent on getting what she wants from him and to make matters worse, they now work together and with Dana in one of his classes, he doesn’t see this ending well for him…again!
This story was an emotional rollercoaster ride from beginning to end but depicts the true feelings of death, love, attraction and sex. There is a major cliffhanger in pure Ali Parker style and I cannot wait to see how Dana and Kendal navigate thru their relationship.

That was an ending that I wasn’t at all expecting, and yet another complication to Kendal’s already ridiculously complex life. I loved watching Dana and Kendal work the logistics in order to stay together. And my reality-TV-loving heart has sighed with happiness at the drama that surrounds them. (Even if a part of me is frustrated by how over the top some of that drama is.) With Kendal’s past dogging their every step, can this pair ever find their happily ever after?

Okay I am furious. Furious.
Like make Ana anyone, any relative of Dana but SISTER? WHAT THE HELL?
How in the world could that not have come up in a conversation before? Ugh I don't know if I can stomach book 3. If it had been a cousin I'd have been fine but sister? How would Dana NOT know about Kendal in that case? Ughhh! So irritated.
This still gets 4 stars because I'm invested and it was extremely well written.

Are you kidding me? Ali Parker is a torturous FIEND!!!!!!!!!! I love this series and she gave me such a good read with Bending the Rules then BAM! the ending!!!!!! Now I have to wait for the next book. I am going to go back to bed and weep.
I absolutely love Kendal and Dana. In the last book, Kendal received the devastating news that his sister passed away. He and Dana had some issues because of Dana being his student, lack of trust, Kendal not being with his sister when she passed away. Dana has a giant pile of guilt over Kendal's sister passing and is contemplating making life changing decisions. Will Dana lose Kendal? Can Kendal stay away from Dana or will he bend his own rules to pursue the relationship with Dana?
Bending the Rules is sooooooooooooooooooo good. Dana and Kendal are such good characters that are written so well to compliment each other.
Dana is compassionate, yet she is hard and tough in other areas. Kendal so strong, yet has a vulnerability that Dana feels she needs to protect.
The chemistry between these two characters is so hot, you feel it come alive through the pages. I cannot wait until the next book!

Ali Parker is the queen of leaving you wanting more. This is the second book in The Rules series and again I was not disappointed. When I read Ali Parker’s books I am left with all kinds of emotions and this one is no exception. She has an amazing talent in misdirection that some stage magicians should study.
This is the continuation of Kendal and Ana and with this story we get to see more of who they are as individuals and therefore why they fit as a couple, if only it was so easy. No good relationship is ever wholly easy; I think to know love sometimes you have to know pain. They are definitely facing some uphill battles and I can’t wait to see how this all pans out for them. We also get to see a glimpse of their support team, their friends, Damon and Jackie. Damon’s story is another series and I’m intrigued to see if maybe Jackie’s story will get explored more. I can only hope.

I have always loved Kendal, since we met him as Damian's friend in another series. I used to teach school, so with him being a sexy professor, I am all to familiar with all the rules that come with that position. He needs love. I also really like Dana. She works at a hospital, and shows so much caring toward her patients. She is a wonderful person. But... she is a student at the same college that Kendal works at. Remember those rules. I love them together. Yes, it ends with a big cliffhanger! Yes, I cursed at Ali Parker at the end, but I love this series so much, as well as all her books, that I will wait impatiently for the next book. I received this book from the author in return for an honest review, and I highly recommend this series and this author.

Oh my and all that is HOLY! That ending. I don't know a way to type the sound that came out of my mouth when I read that. Or enough shocked emojis. Kendal and Dana were always talking about who would switch their lives to be
together. They were both willing to give up everything for each other, and then... this?! No. Nope. Can't.
Despite all the drama, I am so in love with this couple. They are so heartacheingly real. I love (like in my review for the first book) that's it's not all about sex with these two. It, at the heart, is about the deep raw connection they share. I pray that last book gives them the ending they deserve. They have earned it! (And it can't come fast enough)

HOLY FREAKING HELL!!!!!!!!! What an ending?????? I cursed liked a sailor at this cliffhanger Ali Parker lol what the hell???? Never in a million years did I expect that!!!!!! This series just gets better and better and i love it so much!!!! Kendal and Dana needs to decide if they are gonna stay just friends or are they gonna try and be in a relationship but how are they gonna do that with all of the rules he has and with the university's rules aswell? Then there's still Heather....... Omg this book was so good I couldn't put it down and i seriously can't wait for the next one!!!!!

I hate, abhor, detest Ali right now, with everything in me! December before we get Breaking the Rules???? REALLY! You are cruel and inhumane...for real... On the other hand, this series is just getting hotter and better as each page opens. I really can't wait until December, so please change up your schedule, and complete the next book...YESTERDAY! Read the series, it is great...sorry, I don't do spoilers.

Poor Kendal. The previous book ended with losing his sister, and in true Ali Parker fashion, he just cannot catch a break. I audibly gasped at the end of this book. Not only was it a page turner (I could not put it down), but the cliff hanger was fantastic, very unexpected, and made me very excited for the next book. The love between Kendal and Dana, is so sweet, and the development of some of the other secondary characters makes me wonder who Ali is going to write about next.

Ok I did not see that coming! What a cliffhanger! Book 3 in this series is going to be a doozy! I can feel it! Love Kendal and Dana.. Together they're amazing! There were parts of this story that felt a little rushed but never lacked in emotion. Looking forward to see how the "others characters fit in.

Kendal's sister Mandy passed and now Dana is his student. He had to let her go, he can't break his rules. Damon won't let him give up though. He pushes Kendal to take a chance with Dana, so he does. They have a great weekend away, but when they get back decisions must be made. With Heather threatening Kendal at work he needs to talk to someone, but his boss is in on it too. A dinner with Dana turns all kinds of bad when we learn who her sister is. I can't wait for the next book!
