Like A Lady #5

No Offense, Darlin'

Rate this book
Jake Roberson is nothing but a lying bastard. Every whisper that falls from his lips is a betrayal, but I can’t seem to convince myself to walk away. When he comes sauntering toward me, all those particulars go right out the window, and I cave. Every. Single. Time.

No more, though. I can’t. There’s too much at stake this time around, and I won’t have it.

Besides, one night with Beau, that’s all it took. I’m sunk. He was amazing in every way imaginable, and he still is. Why he likes someone like me, I can’t fathom. He’s such a good man, and he only ever sees the best in people, me included. It’s an amazing thing. The way he looks at the world, it’s like magic. Every bone, every muscle, every fiber of Beau Reed’s being is good, and he never stops proving that to me. He’s a good guy deep down in his core where it counts. I’ve always known that, even when I first met him. It’s something that radiates out from him like this big glowing light. Never have I ever met anyone like him.

But because he’s good, I have to make him go. ~Shelby

I can’t focus on anything else:
Soft, brown hair hanging in waves down to creamy skin that looks all too damned touchable.
Big eyes that could never be described with any justice, brown to green, maybe hazel, with so much vibrant light, etching them forever into memory.
Plump, smooth, kissable lips that are the stuff of fantasy, with the bottom one slightly fuller than the top, perfect.
Shelby.

It’s always Shelby, always been Shelby, and there doesn’t seem to be anything or anyone that can make that any different.

Except, now, there’s more at play than just her. For once, it’s not about Shelby Case, and despite my best efforts to save her, there’s things that I can’t rescue her from. ~Beau

No Offense, Darlin’ is the first Like A Lady novel. While it could be read as a standalone, for the full effect of Beau and Shelby’s backstory, the Like A Lady serial should be read as a prequel to this novel. The first part of the serial, Big Girl Panties, is free.

4.5

Favorite Quotes:

If you think of hurting her, even for a second, remember that I castrate bulls for a living. I know a thing or two about removing balls, and I'm not afraid to go to jail. Not for her. So, you'd best damned well treat her right.

That smile, his smile, it's too good to pass up, like an eclipse or a shooting star, some once in a lifetime even that can't be missed.

Her temper rivals the sun in its intensity. Once provoked, it takes years to simmer down.

You make all the bad disappear.

My Review:

Shelby is the queen of poor choices, but given the less than stellar parental units she received from nature - which resulted in a complete lack of nurture - some of that is understandable. Still regrettable, but understandable. I didn't expect to care for or about Shelby, given her villainous performance in the previous installments of the series, but Ms. Sawyer performed a miraculous turn around with Shelby's story. The writing was angsty, moving, insightful, and emotive, with welcome hits of steam and humor that saved the story from being maudlin. It squeezed my cold heart more than once. Beau Reed was perfection and is my new BBF.

Ok. So I didn't know if I could like Shelby for what she did. But then Beau sees something in her and we all know Beau is an honest to goodness great guy. Throw in a few surprises and crazy friends and family and see how this story evolves. Get this story and see what happens!

I got my hands on the ARC of this book and it was a really good read :) although I do recommend you to read "Like a lady" serial box set first, before you dive into this story... well, it's not like I'm gonna stand next to you and make you read it, but I hope you will do it :) because even though there are a few sentences here and there of an explanation about certain events, you get much more details and informations about this whole situation in that story :) plus, it's a really great book, and I actually enjoyed that one more than this installment, so you should definitely start there ;) after that quick explanation, let's concentrate on the book that this review is all about, shall we? :)

And where else can I start than with our main couple... Shelby and Beau... since I absolutely loved Beau, I'm gonna go with Shelby first ;) I didn't really liked her going into this book... hate is a too strong word for my feelings, but there was no sympathy from me for her... and that is beacuse of the things she did in that previous book I mentioned... I won't tell you what exactly, but I wasn't a fan... but I decided that I will try to go with an open mind into this book, because I actually really like those situations when you think you know a character, but then you get to know more about him / her and that changes your perspective :) so I was hoping this will be the case in this book :) and I was right... sort of... ;) it definitely helped when I was able to get inside of her head to get to know her better and see what motivates her actions... although I wish there were more flashbacks that would explain a bit better the whole situation and why she did what she did... because in this book we focus mainly on the outcome and I needed more than that... I had troubles connecting to Shelby... yeah, I understood that her life was really hard... and I mean it... my heart was breaking for her quite a few times, but... I don't know... something about her wasn't working for me... but when it came to Beau... *sighs dreamily* he was absolutely amazing :) I liked him before, but truly fell in love with him in this story... :) he was such a good guy in this book :) kind and just... every girl deserves someone like Beau to love her... :) not to mention that he calls her "darlin" *sighs dreamily* ;) right after "luv" that is my second favourite term of endearment... ;) he had feelings for Shelby for quite some time, but he was just her friend... because she had a whole situation with Jake... and again, it is explained a bit in this story, but you'll have more background about everything in the "Like a lady" serial I mentioned before :) now situation is much more complicated between them for reasons I can't mention here because of spoilers, but he can't wait any more... what starts as him helping her out, slowly turns into something more, when she no longer can deny the pull between them... and that is me really simplifying a much more complex situation, but without spoilers I can't tell you more ;)

Besides our main couple, there is of course a bunch of secondary characters :) and these are the same people we met in the "Like a lady" serial, so that's just another reason why you should start with that story first... because here you won't find as much background about them as you would like... :) and a lot of connections between quite a few of them are too complicated for me to explain in a sentence or two in this review... :) but from the new people we met, I need to mention Beau's mom, who even though not always acted how I wanted, but when it really mattered, she was absolutely amazing :) there are of course more, but some of them I want to save as surprises for you :)

All in all it was a pretty good book :) I enjoyed it, but I think I would love it more if there would be more flashbacks in it... because I had troubles getting behind certain connections and behaviour of some of the characters just because it was said that something happened... let me try to explain... I would love to see how Beau felt about Shelby before, why his feelings for her were so strong now... or more about Shelby and Jake to really get why their "relationship" went the way it did... because there were moments when I needed more... the story itself took place over a bit of time, but again, we skipped weeks and months, and I wanted to see more of a change between Beau and Shelby and not just this one event here and there that seems to tip the scale... :) don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed this story, it was told in 2 POVs, and that's something I always love in books :) when I can get into both of the main characters heads :) I just want to explain, or at least try to, what things bothered me a little and stood in the way of me loving this book :) I adored the writing style, so I will definitely go back to check out other books written by this author, and I am more than curious which couple will get their story next in this particular series :) and don't get me wrong, the fact that I had some troubles with this story doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a try :) I think some of them was just my personal preferences and some were just my high expectations for this story :) but by all means, don't think I hated this book :) I gave it 4 out of 5 stars for a reason so it was a really good read :) you should definitely try it for yourselves and make up your own opinion :)

XOXO

3.5 stars- Enjoyable read

When I review a series, I try not to compare books, but in this case I read them back to back, making it nearly impossible. This is labeled as a standalone, and I think it can read on its own sufficiently. However, there is a lot of drama around this group of friends initially introduced in the serial that bleeds into the subsequent book.

The author again crafted a really sweet hero with a heart of gold. I think it would be hard not to like Beau. However, I appreciated that there was more to his personality. He had facets that warred with his good ol’ boy persona. I liked this depth to his character and how the author used it to explain his attraction to the “bad-girl” Shelby. Beau was willing to look beyond the rumors and assumptions based on her personal and familial history. Not only did this add value to his personality, but it also explained the relationship beyond a long-standing attraction. Shelby proved to be a really interesting heroine. I liked her much more than Red. Her history was well-flushed out throughout the book and provided a solid explanation for her attitude and previous actions, as well as her reluctance to fall into a similar pattern with Beau. Though Shelby’s past choices were explained for the most part, I missed a true redemption for this heroine. I never quite understood her repeated hook-ups with Jake, even after he was engaged. It seemed the reader was expected to excuse her behavior because he led her on, and I think that devalued her strength and character a little. Despite the lack of fully redeeming Shelby from the person portrayed in the Like a Lady serial, she showed growth as a character throughout the book. This was evident with all her relationships, including how she viewed herself.

Once again the conflicts, particularly those among secondary characters seemed excessive. However, the main plot and conflicts remained the chief focus and I felt the distractions encroached less on Shelby and Beau’s romance. The romance itself had a decent amount of depth. The plotline was interesting and kept me engaged throughout the novel. The pacing was much improved from the serial. While it was still very detailed, the time jumps made sense and never disrupted the flow.

I didn’t love the first four novellas in this series, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book. Given the circumstances Shelby is introduced in the Like a Lady serial, I was extra hesitant and couldn’t imagine how the author would redeem her character. For the most part, I don’t think her character was completely redeemed, and that’s the main reason I can’t give this more than three stars. However, a lot of my issues with the serial regarding flow and character development were so much better in this book. Overall, I really enjoyed the storyline, this couple, and their twisting journey to a happily ever after.

Another amazing book by S.J. Sawyer!!! Never disappoints!!!

No Offense, Darlin is the 5th book in "A Like a lady Series!" Once again with each book she out does the last one! Her writing keeps you at the edge of your seat! You go through a series of emotions, one stronger then the other. One minute your smiling and giddy, the next you're gasping, and reading to get to the next point wanting everything to happen your way. S.j. knows how to keep you involved and the story of Beau Reed and Shelby Case was no different. (Well besides making you like someone who you despise!)
No Offense, Darlin is a love story of two very different characters with similar back grounds, yet very different. You meet both the main characters the prior books but you have never had a introduction like this!

"I've always been the friend and never the guy." Beau Reed

Beau Reed is great man, handsome, tall and ripped...beautiful inside and out! He has a brother named Carl ( a rambunctious troublemaker)
a mother named Johanna Reed,
" That's my mom everyone is welcome, everyone is loved."
and his fathers name was Charlie. He enjoys fishing, hunting, and family days which include family and friend's! He is only missing one thing!

"She's all in my head, wrapping me up in knots until there's not a snowball's chance in hell I can think about anything else." Beau Reed

Shelby Case is someone you know from prior! She stands 5'4 soft brown hair, cream colored skin and very misunderstood! She has a mother named Emily Stewart. Also has this person named Jake Roberson (have nothing nice to say

Some people might say Shelby doesn’t deserve a story like this, but i totally think she does. Her whole life has been heartache. Beau is a beautiful soul in a smoking body and he is in love with Shelby. For how wild and mean spirited she seems in previous books, we really get to see the true Shelby in this book. There are no excuses for what she has done to Red. I don’t think there ever will be unless Mary Lou works her “suga” magic. I love the Like a Lady Series.

Having not read any of the first books in this series, I can say I was a little lost.As far as the history of Shelby and Beau.
People look at Shelby as a bad girl because of her mom’s reputation. Beau seems to be about the only one besides her best friend to overlook Shelby’s family life, and see’s the good in her. Probably cause he’s in love with her.. Will he be able to convince her of that love, and build her self esteem in the process?
i enjoyed this book once I got into it.. I will however read the other books as well.

* I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. *

I LOVE all of the books in this series!! They are all equal parts funny, amazing and relatable in more ways than one! The Like A Lady Series is one of my favorites so far this year!! While you can read this one as a stand alone it is best to start in the beginning as the characters are all recurring! If you do start here, you will catch up pretty quickly, but it won't be as much fun! This book is also much longer than any of the previous books in the series and I loved that as well - the fun seemed to go on forever!

Shelby has made more than a few mistakes in her life and although she regrets them and is trying to move on and better herself, there is one mistake that just can't be fixed. Beau has always had a thing for Shelby but has never actually made a move or let her know...until now. Will they work things out together? Will Shelby stick with Jake? What will happen to them?

The author makes sure to keep the reader on the edge of their seat and keeps them there throughout the book. The reader is constantly trying to predict what may happen next, but they just can't quite figure it out completely. This book brings out the emotions in the reader - You will laugh out loud on more than one occasion so beware of your surroundings when reading. You will yell at the characters as well as the author (and that may be out loud as well). You will find yourself wanting to physically assault the characters at times but most of all you will feel like you are among some of your best and most favorite friends. The reader really connects the readers to her characters and that is the best part about this book.

Make sure you add this one and her others to your TBR list as you won't want to miss out on any part of the adventure!! Allow yourself plenty of time to read because once you start you won't be stopping anytime soon! Sit back, grab a drink and enjoy!!!

Shelby Case seems to have a weak spot for bad boy Jake Roberson. She has never had an easy life growing up in a trailer park with her mom who has been hooked on drugs and alcohol. Yet she tries not to make the same mistakes as her mom has but there's still that problem she has with Jake.

Beau Reed doesn't understand how Shelby can put up with Jake and how he treats her. He knows that she is a great girl but the problem is that she doesn't see it. Jake wants to move past their "friendship" into something more but Shelby can't see what he has to offer.

Will Shelby be able to move past her feelings for Jake and give Beau a chance or are their lives too different. Will the influence of others sway how they feel about each other when Shelby's background influences how people feel about her?

This book was awesome!

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Shelby with her causing Red's break up with Jake yet at the same time I felt that she honestly did Red a huge favor. I had no idea about Shelby's past and the more I learned about her the more I liked her. She had a lot personally to overcome with her mother's actions and then certain things happened to her which led her to Jake.

Beau was such an awesome guy and I kept trying to convince Shelby to give him a chance but I understood why she was hesitant. He was always there for her, even when everyone was against him being there for her. I'm glad he stuck to his guns!

The ending was scary and there was a few things there that definitely surprised me!! I felt super bad for Shelby at the end when she lost her chance at "more" with Beau. Broke my heart!

Such a great read and can't wait for the next one!!

I was looking forward to finding out more about Beau because in the books previous I learned what a great guy he is. I wasn't sure about Shelby because she didn't appear to be a great person and had ended up destroying her friendship with her best friend. She doesn't have many friends.

Beau is friends with Shelby and he has liked her for along time despite her upbringing. She is considered trailer trash and her mother is a horrible person that degrades Shelby all the time. She doesn't appear to be the type of girl his mother would want him to bring home. Like Shelby's current boyfriend Jake his family tells him constantly he can do better and not to go below his class.

Knowing the type of person Jake is, Shelby should have realized that he was not a faithful person. Especially with her having been the one to sleep with him before her best friend was supposed to marry him.

I recommend this book for you to read. The characters are on emotional rollercoaster with the ups and downs they are experiencing. Find out if Jake destroys his relationship with Shelby or if they can make it through. Or will Beau try to make her see that she is the one he wants and Jake is no good for her. But every time Beau and Shelby seem to be getting closer Shelby pushes him away to protect herself and feels she isn't good enough for him. This is a must read but you will need to pick up the previous books in the series and I will end here to not post any spoilers.

Beau Reed is the perfect guy down to his perfect family and his perfect job and his perfect looks. He is everyone's friend and all-around great guy. He is the kind of guy you want to be attached to, involved with or just plain be around.

Shelby Case is none of that but it's not for lack of trying. Being born to a no-good mother, she's tried hard to be better than her upbringing in spite of her poor judgment where Jake Roberson is concerned.

This is a companion novel to the Like A Lady Series. You don't have to have read the other books to read this though it does help with some of the background information as well as knowing who some of the other characters and relationships are. I highly recommend you read the others first and at the time of this posting Big Girl Panties-the 1st in the Like A Lady series is free.

I already liked Beau from the Like A Lady series though Shelby not so much. She was initially portrayed as the villain. I was on the fence by the time I was 1/3 into the book and by the 1/2 mark I was very much rooting for her.

I have read all of the author's works and to date, I believe this is her best work yet. I felt like I knew the characters as people not works of fiction. I felt their emotions, the struggles and the turmoil as well as the jubilation.

You won't be disappointed in this book.

No Offense, Darlin' S.J. Sawyer

I wasn't sure I was going to like this story. Shelby was not a likable character in this series. Let me tell you, she won me over. This story shows us the sweet, but tough Shelby. The vulnerable yet strong young woman. The determined to succeed Shelby,no matter the obstacles. The confident and insecure girl, that was on her own.

Oh, and Beau, what a beautiful man. He loved Shelby no matter what. He loved her despite her broken pieces; he completed her. He stood up for his love and he stood up for her. This story gripped my heart. A beautiful and tender love. LOVED. LOVED. LOVED.

"I'm scared to rely on anyone but myself. When you depend on other people, they always let you down."

"You are more than good enough. You're perfect."

- If nothing else, Beau accepts me for what I am, never trying to change a thing, and that simple, perfect fact is what makes him irresistible.

- We're both lost in our desires, and for once, this isn't about my pleasure. It's about each of us taking from the other and giving back every piece we can. It's rough. It's raw. It's real.

First of all, if you haven’t read the first four books in the Like a Lady series, you need to read them first. Otherwise, you will be confused. The fifth book in this series, has two different main characters, although the others have a part to play in the story. The two main characters are Shelby and Beau.
To tell the truth, I really didn’t like Shelby in the previous books, but then I didn’t really get to know her. You will have a change of heart once you read this book. Beau wasn’t a stranger either, but again, I didn’t know him. I can tell you the more I read about him and read his thoughts, the more I fell in love with him. He was a real gentleman with a heart who could see past the misconceptions that surrounded Shelby. He was also pretty hot.
Did I like this book more than the others? No, not really, but I did finish it with a smile on my face. Who doesn’t like a happy ending? But there was one thing that really annoyed me; so much so, I almost didn’t finish it.
The story in all the books in the Like a Lady series travel back and forth in time. That in itself isn’t a bad thing, but I thought it occurred at inopportune moments. I was really getting into the story, wondering what was going to happen next when I was thrown back several months, sometimes years. However, I am glad I finished No Offense, Darlin’.

No Offense, Darlin' is my first S.J. Sawyer book. I enjoyed the story and the writing but at times I seriously wanted to strangle Shelby.
I understand her feelings of inadequacy given her upbringing and peoples interpretation of her family but she took it too far.
Beau is perfect in every way.
He's got a good heart, can see through the BS, can encourage you to see the best in yourself and not give a damn about others opinions.
He wanted to give Shelby the world, only she was too ignorant/confused/disbelieving, all kinds of crazy wrapped up in her head to believe in him.
Her mom's a drug addict and at one time a whore. Her father was never around, and in a small town that means your trailer trash and mean girls don't let you forget it while guys think it makes you easy.
Yea she had reason to be down on herself and to have a hard time trusting, but once Beau showed her in every way possible that he didn't see a worthless piece of trash she should have trusted him more. She drove me crazy so often I wished I could slap her a time or ten.

Their story has it's ups and downs, more downs thanks to Shelby, but thankfully someone gets through that thick skull of her's eventually.
4 stars.

Beau can't stop thinking about Shelby, they have been friends for years and he doesn't want to mess that up. He wants her to see how bad Jake Robinson is. When there is a ruckus down at the bar Beau is called to put a stop to it. When he gets there he sees Jake fuming about his truck. Beau gets Shelby out of trouble and takes her home.
Shelby has a lot of demons that she has to work through, she doesn't think that she is good enough to be with Beau. Was with Jake Robinson, Pregnant. Beau Reed is a cop, wants Shelby to see that she is good enough for him. He is gentleman, sweet, kind and loyal. Has a younger sister. Mason is Beau's friend. Red's boyfriend. Mary Lou is Monroe's girlfriend, Beau, Red and Mason's friend. Want's to patch things up with Shelby. Monroe is Mason's friend from Oklahoma University. Jake Robinson is a major player, he can't keep it in his pants and he thinks that he is too good for Shelby.
This book is another amazing read by SJ Sawyer. It's very well written and the characters are very well developed. I loved that I couldn't put this book down and that I felt connected to the characters. I look forward to reading more books by SJ Sawyer.

S.J. Sawyer has done it again! No Offense Darlin' was amazing! If you haven't read books 1-4, please do or you won't know the back story.

"I never knew that the word darling could be so sexy. It's not the first time someone has called me that, not by far, but it is the first time my body has all but combusted over it."

"Tell me, darlin'. What is it that you want from me?" he whispers in my ear. It's sexy. Everything he's doing is sexy, and I feel deprived, needing more, more, more."

S.J. took a character we all know and hate and turned her in to a character we can relate to and actually like. Shelby can't ever take back the things she did, but She had her reasons and from her point I can kinda see how she got to where she did. Together her and Beau Reed burn up the pages! It's not all hearts and flowers though Shelby is quite stubborn and hard to get through to, but Beau has wanted her forever and despite her predicament and link to the ever jackass, Jake Robertson, he will keep at her until she is his.

What a entertaining read full of heart and love, with engaging characters and an awesome story line, what more could you as for? Sometimes write the story of one of their disliked characters, it's hard to see past what they have done and redeem them in the eye of the reader but Sawyer has done that so bravo to you. Shelby has a lot of heart struggles and pushes people away, but you could see when she decided to pull her big girl panties up and ask and accept help, we all need help sometimes. Beau, I can just hear that accent saying darlin' it's one of my favorite endearments in books, he just loved Shelby unconditionally, and it never faulted, right from high school until adulthood, Beau was definitely a man I would want to take home to my mum. I hope you enjoy Beau and Shelby's story as much as I did!!! Reviewed for HeadTripping Books by Carolyn.

Oh lawd have mercy! 5 sweet southern stars for this book!!! First off this has been one of my favorite series to read and if you haven't read them you need too. And to fully understand this book you will need to read the other one's. This is book is about the bad girl Shelby and I wasn't convinced that Ms. Sawyer could change my mind on her but I gave her a chance. Plus if good Ole boy Beau can feel something for her then she has to have some redeeming qualities right? Right? You just have to read for yourself and see if she does. And those that have read the rest if the books lawd is there some curveballs thrown in here. I love these books and how the characters are so well developed that it's like you know these guys and they live down the street from you. If you haven't read this series I highly highly recommend it!!!!!

You know when you read a series, and there is a book of them all that becomes your favorite? Well, this would be mine.
When an author can do something you never thought possible, make you love a character you loathe! Oh ya, she did that here.
Shelby Case is not a character I could love, or so I thought. But her story is so much like one of my own it is scary.
If you have read the rest of the series you know why Shelby is not a liked person in this small town. If you haven't, well, I'm not going to spoil it and you just have to find out.
Beau Reed is so great and totally my hero. Their story is so great, I couldn't put it down right from the start.
I love when I am stuck right from the first few chapters and just cannot get enough.
Highly suggest this read and series.

I highly recommend reading the Like A Lady series prior to this book. And you will definitely have needed to before reading this review.

Shelby was a bone of contention in the Like A Lady series or Red & Mason's relationship. So I went into this not a Shelby fan. How quickly that changed! You find out more about Shelby's life and circumstances and you really like her - just don't tell Red ;-).

Beau has been Shelby's biggest fan/friend/wish he was more for years. He hates seeing her stress herself out and put herself out there for Jake "The Snake". That's my name for him - thanks WWE for the name.

I LOVE BEAU! I cannot explain how much I love Beau! I guarantee that in reading this book, you will love Beau too!

What a great story. I really enjoy stories about friends developing romantic feelings for each other and this one really was a hit. Beau has loved Shelby for a long time. She is perfect in everything she does according to him. The only exception is her dysfunctional relationship with Jake. That man is bad news. Shelby realizes Jake is dirt and tries to better her life. She wants more for herself. She also discovers she wants more from Beau too. Can they take that risk to their friendship? This was a terrific read that I liked from the beginning. It is part of a series and I recommend reading this series from the start so you do not miss out on these amazing characters and their unique stories.

S.J is an amazing writter and she has done it again. I have read the other books that leads up to No Offence and all of them are a must read. Beau and Shelby are two very strong characters and especially Shelby. The things that she has been through it is amazing she is able to stay as strong as she did throughout the book. Beau I really fell in love with and throughout the whole story how he was dedicated to her. This is a spin off of her other series, however it took me a couple chapters to realize how it spun off of them. If you didn't read them don't worry it does not affect this story.

There is nothing I can say against this book. SJ has me as a true fan, and I'll read more of her books.

This is a great read!
Beau has been in love with his friend Shelby for years but never gets the chance to tell her as she with that scum Jake. He has a great job as a cop, great friends and family only thing missing is the girl of his dreams. Shelby has always been know as the girl who's trailer trash no thanks to her no good for nothing mother, well that and sleeping with Jake didn't help her. But she knows she deserves better for herself so she studying hard to complete college. Beau is the one person she can count on in her life and when the unexpected happens she realizes that she has more than friends feelings for him.

Have you read this series? If not, why the heck not?!??? Ok so here's the 411, the Like a Lady series is a witty, young, small town romance. This book is the first that's not centered around Red, the introductory character. This one has a whole different feel to it. This heroine has been scarred by her past and your heart will break for her but as with real life for some of us, it takes a good man to prove to us that we deserve a good man.

The Good: The same things that we all loved about the other books in the series are present and consistent in this installment.

The Not So Good: There are a few sex scenes and my heart just broke for Shelby and for Beau.

The Verdict: 4 Stars!

3.5/5 Stars!
I like a good friends to lovers romance. It is my favorite of all the tropes. So, I was excited to read this book knowing that was what I was getting. I heart Beau so hard. He has loved Shelby for forever and now he finally has his chance with her. Shelby isn’t so open to love. She’s had kind of a crummy past, but Beau is all his swoonworthiness (I totally made that word up!) swoops in and shows her how great it can be! There are some fun moments, some sad and a whole lot of Beau/Shelby goodness.

I have loved everyone of S.J. Sawyer's books. This one may be my favorite, though. Beau is hot as hell and sweet as candy!! He is head over heels in love with Shelby, who I honestly thought had no redeeming qualities. But Ms. Sawyer has this amazing ability to draw you in to her characters and her stories and make you fall in love!! The whole Like A Lady series is worth your time and money and No Offense, Darlin' is an awesome way to spend your time!!!!

Sweet and sexy!

I was very skeptical about reading about Shelby. After all, in previous books she hasn't been very kind!

This book changed it all for me. We head into the story of Beau Reed and Shelby Case. I have to say, they are so realistically ideal of a perfect couple. This book was blazing hot and was perfectly sweet. I can't wait to see what else SJ has in store for us.
