Cyborg Sizzle #5

Chasing Mayhem

Rate this book
Wild. Free. Hers.

Mayhem has spent his lengthy lifespan obeying the Humanoid Alliance’s rules. Finally free from their cruel control, the cyborg warrior plans to cause chaos. He infiltrates a remote settlement, provokes the savage locals until they want him dead, and allows himself to be captured by the sexiest little Retriever he has ever laid his mechanically-enhanced eyes on.

Imee’s sole mission in life is to keep her family alive. To do this, she must hunt rebels, returning them to the Humanoid Alliance's evil clutches where they will be executed. She doesn’t allow herself to feel anything for her targets…until she meets a tall, muscular cyborg with wild hair and even wilder eyes.

With his sure hands, laughing lips and erotic holds, Mayhem makes Imee’s body sizzle and her resistance melt. Their love is doomed. She must deliver the warrior to his death or she’ll place her family’s safety at risk. But she can’t resist him.

Imee soon discovers that Mayhem, life, and love are never predictable.

Chasing Mayhem is Book 5 in the Cyborg Sizzle series and is a STANDALONE story. It is also a BBW Cyborg SciFi Romance.

Best one of the series so far!

I'm a huge fan of Cynthia Sax and her Cyborg Sizzle series and this is the best of them all. Chasing Mayhem is Mayhem and Imee's story, the absolute glee they take in teasing and taunting one another is completely enthralling. Cynthia Sax is an amazing storyteller the characters she creates are just so vivid, but the way she created Mayhem and Imee goes way beyond this. These characters are brought to life in such a way you wonder if they are a fictionalised version of real people near and dear to the authors heart. All of this leads to a wonderful book full of action, adventure and snark (not to forget romance either).

Series: Cyborg Sizzle #5
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

Mayhem has been one of the cyborgs with the most personality in this series I think. Him and Menace are two wild friends who can really do some damage. I enjoyed his book and his determination to win over Imee. Imee is a reluctant Retriever for the Humanoid Alliance. She is small, beautiful, and pretty deadly. I liked her.

This was a good addition to the series and I am very interested in seeing what is going to happen with the rest of the Retrievers. Also the Refuge is a fascinating town and I really want to know more about it and its residences, especially its leader.

I had a hard time with a very sad scene in this book. Death of an entire family and death of a baby.

I had a lot of fun with this one despite the darker themes.

The hero is a bit nuts and the heroine is a lot locked in and it has the silly erotica elements of have sex at any times.

Yet, there is a lot of humanity in the rage of being oppressed and the banter between the couple is silly fun.

There are several twists that are good for the series with new characters being introduced as well as new allies for the Cyborgs. Yea!

Cyborgs! Sometimes bloodthirsty, but always attentive when it comes to their other half. Even when she's a Retriever working for the Humanoid Alliance. No worries, though, Mayhem and Imee are well suited. They're both dangerous and don't mind a little fighting to get the blood running hot.

Buuuut...with her family's life on the line, it takes a lot for Imee to lower her defenses and let Mayhem in. She has people depending on her. Giving into her pesky emotions will just get them hurt. You know, unless one ruthless cyborg takes it upon himself to help her out of the pickle she finds herself in.

As an aside, I'm curious is the rigid rules of Homeland are going to cause issues down the line. Already, several cyborgs have rebelled against taking their women there and, given how cyborgs don't want to give up their freedom again after everything they'd been through, I could see things turning iffy in the future. Ahh, well. Time will tell, I guess.

In the here and now, we got more danger, more bloodshed, more cyborg-style lovin'. Yes!

2.5 stars.

It was ok, made slightly more enjoyable at the end with the little girl, but overall I didn’t enjoy these characters. I just found them hard to like. I would have preferred more moments where she could show how ‘badass’ she was meant to be. There’s only a scene or two and it’s always shadowed by her doing what she wants, and those wants make her less badass because if he wasn’t there she’d be dead? There was a lot of being told how scary she was and how tough, but we only really see her with him and that’s a failed mission really quickly. She’s not even super mad at herself for turning to jelly for him. And he came across a little too overbearing because he always told her what was best for her etc and it got old quick.

I don’t think I want to read anymore. I have it another go with this & it’s not that I don’t like them, it’s just that I’ve got things I’d enjoy reading more and I’d rather read them instead.

This book was awesome! I loved the whole series. The cyborg's were fierce, yet loving and in awe of their women. I would recommend this book and the other five in the series to anyone who love to laugh, enjoy a strong male who is protective of his female, and great loving.

All the books in this Cyborg series are great. This one will break your heart at one point but by the end you will smile at the antics of the couple. The is an adventurous and avenging story. Our cyborg finds the woman for him but convincing her and protecting her may be the hardest thing he has ever done.

MUCH better than the previous book. Mayhem is right up there for "favorite"...I don't even know who my favorite is anymore, lol. Much more engaging read, some awesome plot twists, a little more information and backstory on the world... it's a step in the right direction. Mayhem is a LOT of fun and Imee is pretty fleshed out as far as Sax's heroines go. Very fun read!

Back To My Immortal Cyborgs

Ok, first off, I kinda forgot how the last one ended and once I finished this story I went back and reread the last chapter. Then I read my review.

Wow. I was not happy. Amazingly, until I jogged my memory, I just knew that the last couple was on home world. I forgot all the drama including the second couple.

But I’m letting my review stand. That was an honest and thought over reaction.

I liked this book much better. I’m a little pleased that this was going on, the start of the story anyway, on the same planet as where they caught Death and his female.

I was prepared for this cruel world, but I felt it near the end when we met the eight year old girl. What is their fuc*ing reason for that? Some twisted kind of torture that somehow helps them? And why girls? We have more compassion or connection to our family or do we want to believe more? Whatever it is, it’s fuc*ed up.

Since I brought that up, what is this Humanoid Alliance? They don’t seem to like any other race… and as I say that I’m reminded of the oxymoron groups we have on this closed little planet, never mind in the U.S.A.

That aside, our eyes were open even more to what The Humanoid Alliance has been up to in their labs. In my head I saw the guy, Kralj, who mentored Mayhem’s female, to be like the guy from Arcane who adopted Jinx. The shadow, the scared face, and the odd eye.

Once they were on the mission to get her, Imee’s, family back, I was on track with Mayhem’s thinking. I won’t tell you what that is, but it was easy to think that, and it did hit me when I realized what was going to happen.

I was a bit worried and sad about the people they killed during their rescue mission. Yeah The Humanoid Alliance is very, very, very bad. But some of the workers may not have had better choices in what job they worked or they didn’t know how bad it all was, or it was too late for them to leave easily. We met one of them before they died in the second book. But the last two kills, they deserved it.

I really, really hope we run into this couple again and their new group meets the cyborgs. I really think they could help each other.

I tried to keep it as spoiler free as possible. I really liked this one. It only lost a star due to some personal dislikes that is only worth half a star deduction, but I don’t want to give the book a full 5 stars since I honestly didn’t love it that much.

3.5

I was super reluctant to read this, mostly because I've been binge reading this series like crazy and I'm kind of tired. But I got into it, and it was pretty good. It didn't make me laugh or cry like earlier books in the series, maybe I've gotten desensitized or maybe I need to take a break and read something else then come back to this series or something, but I feel like the author is getting better each book.

I'm not even annoyed by the female thing, it just seems less obnoxious now.

This book seems to set up the Refuge spin off series, I'll check that out after I catch up on this one.

Mayhem and Imee so much fun

These two were so much fun to read about. The way they met the banter between them and the sheer fun they find together is beautiful. For they really both need it their life have been nothing but mostly painful experiences and when they meet each other it's the recognition of finding your other half that is pretty awesome to watch unfold. Like the previous novels the Humanoid alliance has ruined more lives and has caused the worst kind of pain to any and all they come across. Thank God these two found one another because I don't believe they'd survive unless they did. Loved it 💖

Chasing Mayhem

Imee was a Retriever and had been since she was 12 years of age believing that she was protecting her family from certain death. Retrievers found men, women and even children who the Human Alliance felt escaped them and their rules. Imee tried to feel nothing for the people she captured because she believed she was keeping her family safe.
Then one day Mayhem happened into her life and she changed in her belief system and her motivations. Mayhem gave her the challenge and the chance to capture him and to see her family. Now the revolution has begun for all Retrievers.

A fantastic addition to the series

This story was brutal. Mayhem is a fun, talented, impressive Cyborg, but so sweet when he chooses to be. Imee is so damaged, emotionally, but so strong and fierce. The stories they share and the difficulties they overcome together hurt my heart, and their anger felt like my own. And that ending, with the other Retrievers, was so so so perfect! I loved Krahl (sp?) and the Refuge was so intriguing too! I can’t wait to see what Ms Sax has next for us!

Loved the humor and the action! 😊

It may seem I took a while to finish. I had to restart it. Between interruptions and exhaustion from work, I missed on the story. Loved Mayhem and Imee! 💖✨ This story should have continued. Would have liked to see how the base to fight the Humanoid Alliance turned out fully running.

It's erotica; but it has romance. 🚀 I far love the sci-fi aspect of this series and the action. 🤖💕

This Cyborg Is Wild

She has to get her quota and he would really help, if she can capture him. He is finally free and he is going to raise hell before he finds his female. Plans rarely go the way you want them to go. This is another funny, exciting, violent read. Enjoy I did.

Great 👍read

I enjoyed the book. The characters were likeable and the storyline had a good flow. The introduction to the book was misleading however.
