For fans of the Frog and Toad books and Amelia Bedelia stories, the antic tales of Mole and Shrew will prove to be worthy successors. In the introductory title, find out how Mole and Shrew first meet, how Mole finds a new home, and how, with much confusion along the way, Mole and Shrew finally become fast friends!
Jackie French Koller (born 1948) is an American author of picture books, chapter books, and novels for children and young adults. She lives and writes in western Massachusetts.
Koller is also an accomplished painter. Her interest in art inspired her to open The Little Black Dog Gallery in Westfield, Massachusetts.
Koller's young-adult novel If I Had One Wish was adapted into a Disney Channel Original Movie under the title You Wish!.
Mole and Shrew are Two is an exceptionally adorable little book. Shrew is rather clever and a little bit wary that Mole might be a problem of a neighbor for her. Mole is not as bright but is a complete and utter sweetheart. What starts as an inconvenience turns into a friendship and blossoms into this beautiful book. I highly recommend this for anyone of the suggested reading age, but it's also delightful to read as an adult. I may need to find more copies and send them to everyone I know with children.
LFL find. Very cute. I love the wordplay humor. I love that the book can appeal to families reading aloud to the younger ones, all the way up to age 9 or so. I'll look for more by the author.
