Two couples, two unhappy spouses - one shocking solution.... Five years into her happy marriage, Geneva Mayfield is devastated to find that things have taken a turn for the worse. Her husband, Johnny, is suddenly hard to reach, distant, and works late too often for Geneva not to be suspicious. Is it because she's been pressuring him about having a baby? Feeling lonely and neglected, Geneva bonds with Robert Owens, a colleague who is having marital trouble of his own. Soon their relationship blossoms into an uncontrollable affair.
Bored with her husband, Robert, and dead set against having a child with him, Vivana Owens is biding her time until she's ready to leave - and she's spending it with Johnny Mayfield. It's just a fling - until Vivana becomes obsessed with Johnny, especially once he tries to win back his wife. But affairs don't end easy - and soon one of the unfaithful will end up dead, one will end up in jail, and one just might get away with murder....
Prior to writing, Trice Hickman's diverse professional career included work in both corporate and non-profit organizations. Currently, she is putting the finishing touches on her second novel, and a third book is already underway. She resides in Washington, D.C., with her husband. "
I mean I knew this was going to be a messy story when I read the synopsis but I was not ready. Baby!!!!!! Johnny was for everybody!! I was so ready for somebody to put a bullet between his eyes because he was a really chaotic character that caused trouble the whole damn book!
Johnny has been married to Geneva for the last 5 years and he started smelling himself like the dog 🍑 🥷 he was! He was sleeping with a few folks and when one woman in particular decided to catch feelings, she made things chaotic for Johnny and I had no sympathy for him AT ALL!
I was rooting for Geneva and when she finally bossed up and moved tf around on Johnny she found the love that she deserved…. Unfortunately she eventually found out that the man she fell in love with was connected to her husbands foolishness 😩😩
I don’t want to give too much away but the way these couples were intertwined together was some six degrees of separation ish and I was throughly entertained! I’m ready to see if book 2 can top the craziness that I just listened to! I even had my kids weighing in on the car ride home from school😆…. The general consensus was that Johnny got what he deserved and everyone had just cause to get a piece of that action!
This is the first book that I have read by this Author. Let me tell you this is Drama with a capital D. I started reading this book and my first impression was okay!!!! Somebody is psychotic and deranged. But as I kept reading the story about Geneva and Johnny (the player) Mayfield, I see where the psychotic behavior originated from. The Author took you on a roller coaster ride of the kind of relationships that we all go thru in our lives. Some of us worse than the others but my girl Geneva handle it like a lady.
Don’t get me wrong, some of us go off the deep end trying to prove that we’re the best one when it comes to being a third party in a relationship. But sometimes we have to hear both side of the story; stand back and look at the big picture.
This book was funny and sometimes had me jumping up saying yes!!! I hope part two is as good as part one. I recommend this book as one of your summer read.
Trice Hickman did her thing with Secret Indiscretions. This book was oozing with drama, suspense, and obsession of the strait jacket type.
Geneva Mayfield is a good woman and will do anything to keep her marriage intact including being a doormat to her husband. Deep in her heart, she knows the truth about her no good husband Johnny but when is enough, more than enough? We as women hate to give up especially on someone we love as is evident with Geneva.
In this roller coaster book, we also meet Samuel Owens who has his own marital issues. It was good to see a man who tried to keep his marriage together rather than resort to cheating as a form of release. This is a rarity in most stories.
As the story proceeds, there is more drama than the final episodes of Dallas. You will be left with many unanswered questions. Does Geneva finally finds happiness with her husband Johnny? What becomes of Samuel's marriage? You have to one click to find out and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed with one of the author's best works.
Life has a funny way of giving back that which we THOUGHT was forgotten. As Hickman shared with her audience and we have personally experienced nothing is truly forgotten. What is that saying what's done in the dark will come to light, umm or will it.
Johnny Mayfield and his best friend Bernard learn this lesson and it's consequences after an all out brawl in Bernard's office. Not only has life not forgotten but I believe it has come for retribution.
On the other side of this lesson we are privileged to watch a blossoming relationship, that appears justified in its nature but is it? I don't know but I guarantee Hickman will challenge your values of right and wrong and cause you to ask; what matters more the act itself or how you do a right thing wrong? Secret Indiscretions is filled with sex, lies and selfish behavior, more dramatic climaxes I care to read about in one book. But Hickman treats each indiscretion with such care that somehow it doesn't feel like drama. I've been a HUGE Hickman fan since August 2010 starting with Unexpected Interruptions and her writing gets better and better. I'm anxiously awaiting the sequel Deadly Satisfaction, who really did it? Or do the city of Amber have the right person, behind bars ...ummm.

A complimentary copy was received in exchange for my thoughtful and honest review.
After my buddy had raved about and recommended me this novel, I decided to give it a read and I'm happy I did. This was my first novel by this author and after that cliff-hanging ending, it won't be my last. Trice did magnificently well in making me fall in love with Geneva and Samuel while loathing Johnny and Vivana. I felt like I known each main character and we've been friends and enemies for many years, which is great because a lot of authors can't achieve this feat.
In all honesty, Vivana was the star of the book. Without her character, the story would've been fairly boring. Yes we had Johnny, but Vivana brought 98% of the drama. She was the evil queen and she played it well. Also, I felt like the book was too detailing, which made the book boring in some parts and seemed like it was dragging a bit. (The long chapters did kinda turn me off.)
What I do wish Trice would've been detailed about was Vivana's past. I wonder what made Vivana into the conniving, manipulative, gold-digging, home-wrecking, insanely-in-love tramp she was. I slightly understood Johnny's reason for what he was doing, but not really. I reckon it's a little too late to dig into his story now.
Other than that, I liked the novel. It had enough drama to keep me flipping the pages, and I was surprised by the murderer. The killer was definitely unexpected and I can't wait to find out about the other twist...I already have my suspect. I kinda wish there won't be a sequel but oh well. Bring it on, Trice.
This novel was so great. It had everything page turner, mystery, twists and turns, murder. When you get involved in a discretionary relationship with a married woman or man you knowingly know what you are about to get yourself into. Except Johnny Mayfield never saw crazy or one of his blackmail victims getting fed up with him being a lazy, cheating degenerate. Viviana Owens was a walking deranged woman from the first page. Samuel Owens was the next door neighbor you would want to have in your corner. Every woman's dream of a spouse. Geneva Mayfield gave her marriage her best shot. Clean house, wash clothes, great cook, lover and spouse. It wasn't enough. This novel was excellent in all of it's story telling and delivery. Johnny's best friend Bernard tried to fore-warn him but when you caught up in deception there's only drama around the corner.
Drama galore. These characters were tangled in the messiest web of lies and deceit. Now I'll be honest and say it took a while for me to get into the story but when it picked up, it picked up, took off and left me flipping the pages for more.
Geneva is crying out to her husband, Johnny for his time, love, and affection. Johnny has other ideas of what he should do with his time. Samuel only wants a woman he can love, provide for and start a family with. While Vivana, his wife, is just living a bald-faced lie.
All hell breaks loose and irreparable damage is done. Trice Hickman truly knows how to create a drama-filled story that is sure to leave you with your mouth hanging. And that ending ... Totally unexpected. Four stars!!!!
I finished this book in one day. This book is soooo good. If you looking for something filled with drama and will hold your attention this is the book for you. I hate spoilers so read this book I promise you will love it.
Whoa!!! I was not ready for how exciting this book was! I really have no words. I seriously want to kick my own butt for waiting so long to read it. What rock have I been under??? All I can say is Trice Hickman has a new fan in me and I’m here for whatever she writes!
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It follows 3 couples and involves a lot of cheating. Geneva is married to Johnathan. Johnathan is cheating on Geneva with Nirvana. Nirvana is obsessed with Johnathan but is married to Samuel. Samuel is over his marriage to Nirvana because she treats him like shit. He meets and falls in love with Geneva. Neither one of them knows their spouses are having an affair with each other. At the same time, Johnathan meets and begins an affair with City Councilwoman, Charlene. Charlene is a client of Geneva but has no idea Johnathan is Geneva's husband. Johnathan is also best friends eith Bernard. Bernard is a reformed Playa and in love with Candace.
If you can follow all of that and it interests you, give this book a try. You won't be disappointed.
Johnny and Vivana are loving life. Until their respective spouses grt tired of being sick and tired. Ms. Hickman has done it again. This book is slightly different than her other novels, it has a suspense feel to it. I love that she is keeping us readers on our toes.
This book started out slow as the characters weren't very likeable, but the story really improved in the second half and became very dramatic at the end!
This book Secret Indiscretions was so good, I read it in two days like it had my attention from the beginning to end.
Johnny was a piece of dog poop. On the high level. Omg, every one he screwed over, lost everything. From jobs to babies, etc. And he blames them instead of himself when he was the cause of everything.
And he ended up with crazy women and lost a good woman. This reminds me of this story. Which is a real life story where. The man was cheating on his wife, and the Mistress killed his wife, and I do wonder did he was boo hoo once he found out that he was the cause of her murder.
Johnny was the cause of his own dismiss. I had to laugh, even though I didn't want him to die. But God it was hilarious because he was drunk as a skunk, and didn't give two shits that he was about to die, he's like **** it I don't have anything to live for may as well die. And as I got to a section of the book the ending of his dismiss he said the same thing I said: "He knew that once he was dead, it would be the first time he truly is at peace."
But in my mind, I swear I thought it was Vivana who killed him and but was none other than Councilwoman Harris. I said ain't that a B.'
Where do I begin? OMG...Trice Hickman did that with this book. I could put it down. Every time I did, I found myself quickly going back to it. All of her characters are a hot mess but, they also have some good in them. I can't wait for part two. The ending left my mouth wide open. I wasn't expecting it at all. You have to read this book and you'll see what I mean. Secret Indiscretions is one of my Top 5 of 2015.
This is my first book by Trice Hickman and it will not be the last. The book started off a little slow but it picked up and I was just so into it I could not put it down until I completed it. Two couples both have cheating spouses, they both want to start a family and have the love that they deserve. But what they don't realize is they have more in common than they know.
Secret Indiscretions is a great read. This book keep my attention from the beginning to the end. Two couples both of them have cheating spouses. They have more in common than the cheating. I never saw the ending coming, didn’t expect that at all. Looking forward to reading the next book
If I could give this novel more than 5 stars, I most definitely would! It just became one of my favorite romance novels. SPOILER ALERT!
The story follows two unhappy couples who are married. Johnny and Geneva have been married for 5 yrs and he still remains to be a playboy. Geneva wants attention and a baby from him but he doesn't appreciate her and does what he wants to do. Samuel and Vivana are the most dysfunctional couple. Samuel wants a child because he loves children and Vivana is a sad case who just doesn't love him. But check this out! Johnny has been having a affair with Vivana for 9 months. Vivana starts to catch feelings and Johnny is not having it. She thinks he's gonna leave his Geneva and she finds out that he has been messing with other ladies as well. She decides to trace his every move, research things about Johnny and tries to win him back. Geneva meets Samuel and they have a lot in common.
This was the 1st book I completed from Trice Hickman and her writing and character development is excellent. My favorite character had to be Bernard. Every cheating man needs a friend like him because men like Johnny don't know what they are getting themselves into especially when some women catch feelings and persuade them to change. BUT THAT ENDING THO! I did not see that coming. Johnny deserved everything that came his way but I'm definitely gonna cop BOOK 2.
This barely made the 3 star cut. Years ago I had an opportunity to read a book by Trice Hickman, but didn't get to do it for several reasons. I'd been hearing a bit of s buzz through the years about her skill and I kept passing up opportunities. I decided to go for it this time. The storyline wasn't exciting. It's been done before. It was extremely predictable. The plot twist was awkward. The POV was supposed to be third person past tense but the author was using past and present. That was annoying. It was a stretch of fiction. I mean Vivanna was just over the top. I get the whole psycho , obsessed girl but for some reason it didn't work here. I mean was she psycho all along or did Johnny drive her to it? I don't know. Then the characters talked to themselves. A lot. No A lot. It was the strangest thing. Instead of the narrator being in the person's head as normal, the characters held conversations with themselves aloud. Aloud.
The good thing was- I didn't put it down. The character development was okay. I didn't really fall head over heels for any one particular character. It was okay.

I did not want to put this one down. So much drama! I knew who the culprit was before they even said it, but I am curious about the anonymous sender of the text. I think I know. It was someone that went there to kill him too, but she beat them to the punch.
I hope they continue with the story in Deadly Satisfaction. I want to know WHO knows that this person killed Johnny and will the person blackmail them in the process.

I finally got a 5 star read from Trice Hickman! This story was out there but I loved it. I had so many errands to do and I was so annoyed to leave it. I wil be reading Trice's entire catalog. I'm starting Deadly Satisfaction tonight.
Recommend to others?: Yes! Perfect mix of everything.
So mad that this book has been on my TBR list for years but glad I finally took the time to read it! Secret Indiscretions was a page turner from beginning to end. The characters were fun to read about. Some you’ll love, some you’ll hate but they made a great story! This book is filled with secrets, lies, and scandalous behavior.A philandering, ego driven, and self-centered husband, cheats with a low-down, nasty, and bipolar wife. Both of their marriages come to an end with both their spouses finding and falling in love with one another. When the cheating egotistical husband is murdered his crazy mistress is convicted for his murder but is she really the one that killed him? Ready to find out how this story plays out in Deadly Satisfaction.
The sins of the father revisited upon the son. Johnny Mayfield had the everything a heart could desire; the dutiful wife, home, lucrative career, but his womanizing ways cost him. Even with the warnings from his friend, Johnny believed he was invincible.
This dangerous Love novel is more like a twisted Love novel of art imitating life. The novel could have provided some back story on the families of the mail character; however the book is a fast-paced read and will definitely provide for a lively discussion within a book club.
I was introduced to the Dangerous Love Series and Trice Hickman about a week ago, when I picked up Deadly Satisfaction (Dangerous Love #2) from a local free book nook. Hickman is a great writer and the story is engaging. Even though I read the second installment, I was happy to go back and read the backstory. Whew! I didn’t feel slighted in the least! I noticed that there was a third book entitled Dangerous Liaisons pegged as a third book in the series, and I look forward to that coming to fruition.
It's real ballsy to be a woman scorned when the man never was yours to begin with! This was a sad tale of a married womanizer and a married maneater who had different ideas of what their relationship was. In the meantime, the spouses are hurting and stumble across their soulmates just when they've had enough. This was my first read by this author and I was enthralled by her writing. I'm looking forward to reading how this mess ends.
