Five days after the radiation incident and still no sign of Captain Atom.
We join Peggy at her therapists as she talks about her recurring dreams of her biological father. Peggy dreams of him being a saviour to her and her brother Randy while she feels Eiling treats them as only prizes he has won.
As if we needed any more reasons to dislike General Eiling, he had Peggy followed. The man watching her, Homer, unfortunately became obsessed and did not cease his surveillance of the young woman when ordered.
Dr Megala also has dreams of Nate, or rather Capt. Atom. He deeply feels the loss of such a project.
Luckily for all (except for Eiling), Atom burst forth from the ocean! His first stop is to his superior’s home to inform Eiling that he will not give up his children.
This is when we learn Peggy has been tricked into meeting her stalker! Homer tries to kidnap her but Captain Atom saves the day and father and daughter are reunited!
Of course their reunion was only at the end but I found it funny that Peggy didn’t question why her biological father was basically the same age as her.
Captain atom has been missing for six days since absorbing the submarine radiation leak, and intentional or not everyone can’t seem to get him out of their heads. Even his biological daughter who tells her therapist about the intense dreams she has of her real father coming to save her…but remaining faceless. Little does she know she has already met him, and little does Nathaniel know she actually wants to meet him. As his suicide run to the submarine was spurred by the rejection he faced when trying to approach her just once. Meanwhile her stepfather also seems to have someone watching and keeping tabs on her, but the soldier comes across as a lot more of a stalker than a PI.
Megala is also having dreams about captain atom and his regrets with how the project has been handled. He had a very intense dream bashing the fake captain atom origin they put into the press, then suddenly he was attack by a Dr. Sarrok, apparently an old and delusional pupil. Suddenly in the dream captan atom appears and defeats the threat, but not before turning to Megala next. The doctor woke up in a sweat thinking about the shame he has for the fake story and everything they have done with the captain atom project.
In the morning Eiling reveals to his stepdaughter that he was having her followed and shows her the picture of Scott, the man she met at the airport. He made sure she knows to stay away from the “deranged” man, but he should be gone for good. Once she leaves, he calls in the soldier he has watching his daughter and relives him of his duties as he is no longer needed to watch her. But as we see in Margaret’s next therapy session, the man has become quite obsessed and even has a bug planted in the office so he can listen to her therapy sessions. Through listening he comes up with a plan, she wants to see her real father so he can give that to her.
Meanwhile doctor Megala has become obsessive and full of regret over the captain atom project and in a quite hilarious act to try and cheer him up, Babylon dawned silver spray pain, red gloves, and blue boots to look like captain atom. It did out a chuckle on the old man’s stressed face. But across the world captain atom just few out of the water, for real, with the most fed up face imaginable…and then suddenly Margaret receives a call from her real father asking to meet?! General Eiling just found out that Margaret is missing, and that’s when Nathaniel walks in, he then proceeds to tell the general that he had a moment of truth and that he was a sap for giving up so quick on his kids. The point is that he realized his children are more important than his own life and he wants to get to know them, no more roadblocks!! At this point Eiling would love to help him, as he doesn’t know where Margaret is either. He was just on the phone with Martin Lockeed and is turns out his son, the aide he had following his daughter around, just ran off with her! But this was not a voluntary from Margaret’s side, as Martin also revealed he pulled some strings to erase the history of his son’s schizophrenia. Nathaniel is obviously so pissed that Eiling would let his daughter be stalked by a mad man, just because he was afraid Nathaniel would make contact with her. But just then another of Eiling’s men came in with a recording from Margaret’s phone, because of course that was tapped. They then heard as the aide called Margaret pretending to be her real father, and instructing her to meet at an airfield. Without a second thought, Nathaniel flies off to the airfield to save her. On that airfield we see as Margaret is approached by a man in uniform that she thinks may be Nathaniel, but when he gets closer she realizes it’s a man wearing make up to look old, but as suddenly as she realizes this he grabs her and drags her aboard a plane. As soon as captain atom arrives he sees the plane taking off, and immediately puts it back on the ground. Now that it’s on the ground, Margaret stumbled out, only to be greeted by the real Nathaniel Adam as he starts describing the first time they met in the hospital room where she was born. They lock together in a sweet reunion of father and daughter, can’t wait for him to explain everything!! Hahaha!

man I was so anxious to see Cap finally properly reunite with his daughter again, and it didn't disappoint at all. I really hope he gets to have good time with his children now he deserves it, and I hope to see General Eilling die brutally for what he did to cap and his family... this series is an underrated gem.
Captain Atom (1986-) #4 brilliant continuation of the previous book with Captain Atom and the military going head to head and the issue of his family coming to a head! :D
Clever, fast-paced, powerful and action packed! :D Highly recommended! :D
