Rose I’m about to shoot down the guy responsible for that cheesy line… until I see him. He’s tall, hot and irresistible. But he’s a guest and this receptionist job is the only thing keeping me off the breadline. So this thing between us needs to stay professional. I can handle Jake Thorne. I want to resist. He’s not making it easy, though.
Jake I’m used to women falling at my feet, not arching their gorgeous eyebrows and calling me on my game. I’ve never wanted anything more than a no-strings hookup. Until now. I’m hooked. She’s indifferent. Doesn’t matter: I play to win.
Loved it, what a pleasant and enjoyable story. Really i can't express enough how much i liked reading it, from the story, to the great characters 'till the funny dialogues this one screamed perfection and honestly i want more, hopefully the author will make a story for Van as well because besides Rose, Sam (her son) and Jake, Van completed the team.
Well as for the story Rose's life was simple work, home, out with her friend...never expected the day that her life is going to turn upside down by the departure of Jake Thorne, you see she will try to resist his looks and his flirtatious moves but she will fail... Jake is used to have lots of women fall for his looks (it also helps that he is a famous football player) and for that reason he is really impressed that Rose not only doesn't flirt with him but also doesn't know who he is... that completely won him...so challenge accepted!!
Twists, secrets, hot scenes, smart and funny dialogues and some really emotional moments are a few great ingredients of this book. Definitely recommend it and i'm hoping you'll love it as much as i did and surely i'm looking forward to the next creation from the author.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.
This is Rose and Jake’s story. Rose didn’t know who Jake was and that he was so popular. The banter back and forth between these two is great. The chemistry is off the charts. Can Jake who was never a one woman man become that to keep Rose? Or is Rose not going to give him a chance. She can avoid him or make him believe that she does not want him? Can she allow him into her life and trust him?
I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
4.5 Stars I might be the most lethargic human being on the face of the planet but there is absolutely nothing I enjoy more than a story firmly entrenched on the sports field. Jake and Rose were great characters but there was more than just their relationship going on in the book. The story was quick to establish its direction, Rose occupied more and more of Jake’s time after he had initially met her but she had other ideas. Life as a single mother has left her with little time or inclination to get involved with anyone, never mind the super-hot and filthy rich Jake Thorne but staying clear of him isn’t going to be easy, especially when her job means that their working relationship is a little closer than she would have liked. But there is meddling behind the scenes that means that her time in her job is far from fruitful...geez guys give the girl a break! We all know how bad it can be when women have their noses pushed out of place and have the opportunity to sharpen their claws…but men are no different and in this book, there was plenty of that and I had an awful feeling that Rose was being hung out to dry to serve other people’s purposes! The treatment she received from people who should have known better was harsh to say the least! But I was so pleased that Jake was less than willing to accept the inference that he needed to keep his distance from her, he was going to stop at nothing to have her in his life. The author had a solid pace about the story, she didn’t allow the story to stutter at all and the story gathered along at a fair pace for almost the whole read. There were secondary characters that I can only hope we get the opportunity to hear more about, namely Van and Sam but there were also characters that I could have quite happily never have heard from in the first place, but again isn’t it great to have a character to really dislike! This was a sweet romance, yes it had a sporting context but I don’t think that the setting was a distraction to the fact that this was about two hearts that once they had set their sights on their happy ever after, refused to let anyone put obstacles in the way. I look forward to the next book from this author who has very quickly become one to watch!
"He nips at my bare skin, sending shockwaves through my body. A second later, he's shifted his grip and unclasped my bra with a deftness I've never seen before. 'That's pretty impressive.' ... 'What can I say? I'm good with my hands.'"
4 blind me stars!!
Jake has never been a one woman kind of man. He's a love them and leave them type. But when he sees Rose, he knows that's about to change. Rose can't fall for him, she refuses, but there's only so much refusing she can do. Jake doesn't like to lose and he's determined to get what he wants... and what he wants right now is Rose... can he charm his way into her heart??
This is not the first book I've read by Ava and I know it won't be the last. She knows how to write one sexy book and each time I fall even harder!! This book was packed full of heat, humor and tons of story!! Definitely worth the one click!

Blindsided by Ava Kendrick is a sports romance book. This is my first book by Ava Kendrick.
Rose works in reception for a hotel. She's been then for 7 years. Her life's not the best, but it's what she makes it. Rose can't stand when people lie. Jake plays wide receiver for the Greensboro Grizzlies. He's used to people knowing exactly who he is. But Rose has no clue who this handsome man is that's staying in the Penthouse. The attraction between them is undeniable, but like with all things in life, people have pasts and sometimes those come back to change our future.
I really enjoyed this book. It is very well written. The characters are entertaining and fun. I felt the rollercoaster of emotions that each character in this book felt. There is so much more I want to say about this book and the characters, but it would spoil the story and I don't want to do that for anyone. I'm sure there will be more from Ms. Kendrick and this series in the future and I look forward to reading it.
Blindsided by Ava Kendrick is the heart-twisting love story of young, single mom Rose and hot football star Jake.
This book grabbed my interest from the beginning with Jake's sense of humor and the intense chemistry between them! The attraction was palpable, but with Rose not having a clue who Jake really is, it sets up an opportunity for him to just be himself...something that his fame (especially with the ladies) normally doesn't allow, so he pretends to be a regular guy, albeit an insanely gorgeous, hot, incredibly fit "hotel inspector". Of course, once Rose finds out that he's lied, it's all downhill from there!
I loved everything about this extremely well written book, from the funny, sexy banter when Jake and Rose meet, through the complicated twists and turns (at one point, ripping my heart out), to FINALLY getting their well-deserved HEA. I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to read what comes next from Ava Kendrick!
Loved Blindsided; it is a fun, interesting football romance! Due to Jake's financial problems, the team is ruling his life. After Rose is fired from her hotel reception job because of Jake's flirting, the team's PR fixer entices her to live with him and pretend to be his girlfriend. This is not a hardship for them because, after they clear up their misunderstandings, they are free to share their attraction to each other.
But the road to happiness is threatened by Darla, the woman he married in Vegas in a drunken spree. When he confesses all his troubles to Rose, she encourages him to tell team management the truth, and management once again interferes in their lives. This was a complicated romance with many detours to a HEA for Jake and Rose.
I received this for my honest review. Rose is a single mum and she has little time or wishes to get involved with anyone, let alone the super-hot and filthy rich Jake Thorne but that isn't going to be easy. Working as a receptionist in a hotel she is used to being hit on and can deal with it all in a days work but when she meets Jake the instant pull is more to fight. Jake is a football player and used to women falling over themselves to be with him but he has deeper worries and secrets that he is dealing with but when he meets Rose he knows he has to win her over and he plans to do just that....... There is so much more to this story than just a sweet romance and you will have to read it to find out.
Sexy, witty, and suspenseful! Jake Thorne, a wide receiver for the Grizzlies has met his match. Rose Allen, the beautiful receptionist at the hotel where he is staying doesn't fall for Jake's come on. She's heard it all before but, with Jake's persistence it gets harder and harder to resist the gorgeous man. What Rose doesn't know is that she is about to be blindsided by the complications that come along with being with Jake! It's a roller coaster ride with a very unique story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! A definite must read!
I can't be for sure, but I going to take a guess and say that the author is from the UK. Very little football in this book. The phrasing was off as well. And the villains in this story were a little over the top. Most of it just didn't make any sense. And a lot was just left hanging. Where the hell was this football player's agent? Cause this is not how football works in America. Or any sports really. Also it would have been nice to know what was actually said in the press conference toward the end. Cause wth?
Jake Thorne walks into the hotel Rose Allen works for and sets off to get to know her better. What they don't know is their meeting sets off a motion of some events that completely blindside each other. It seems as though they are meant to be together. But you know fat always steps in and intervenes somehow.
I have read numerous books of yours. I've cried because of the obstacles the characters have had to go through then smiled when it all worked out. Thank you s o much. I can't wait to read more of your books
I enjoyed the book. My only disappointment was the football star was a little too week. He seemed to follow more then be and alpha for a football player. I also had hard time with the teams main office getting so involved in the life of a player, seemed a little far fetched.
