Continuing the change in her life that began in Port of Departure, Taylor Bryan is ready to move forward, but has no ship to work on. She is brought into the cruise line’s home office and experiences the life that many people have—commuting, working at a desk, wondering what to make for dinner … The company sends her out across the globe, meeting new challenges and new people aboard ships, where she is also exposed to different styles of womanhood, varieties of femininity, and what it means to be female in the world. Still fiercely devoted to her piano and her music, she will discover new friendships, for better or worse, and perhaps a new career, as she learns what it means to be her new self.
I started writing as a child, and won my first national writing award in sixth grade. I edited and wrote for my high school and college creative writing magazines, but then life got in the way and didn’t write fiction for years—I wrote for hire. Magazine articles (in music and travel), advertising copy, corporate newsletters and software manuals paid the bills. I have always been interested in the discovery of a person’s true nature and sexual identity, and began exploring different literary genres and structures to tell those important stories.
This is a wonderful follow up the first one I really hope you will do one more to see how her career goes. It is very easy to fall in love with this character. Thanks you for a wonderful book
I am a real fan of Karin Bishop's character driven transgender fiction and was waiting for this story ever since I finished the original Point of Departure in which we were introduced to Taylor Bryan. Having read the first part again I dived into this story and found Taylor stuck in L.A., after her SRS, while the cruise ship she sang on was worked on.
Another thoroughly enjoyable story where my only upset came as I dreaded reaching the end.
How lucky can a girl be,what a fantastic ending to another wonderful novel by Karin. Don't forget to read Port of departure first as you will need the background info.
Just finished Port of Arrival! It was great, not a sequel to Port of Departure, but a continuation of the story. And I must say that I hope this story continues! I want to know what happens next--in Taylor's life, her careers (onboard ship as well as in Los Angeles. And, especially in regards to Rebecca in the Home Office. Hopefully, I will not have to wait very long!
