This second book in a new series narrated by an underdog every Minecrafter can relate to is even funnier than the first!
This adventure series is created especially for readers who love the fight of good vs. evil, magical academies like Hogwarts in the Harry Potter saga, and games like Minecraft, Terraria, and Pokemon GO.
Gerald made it through the first few weeks of Mob Middle School in one piece (give or take a limb), even if his quest for popularity hasn’t led to fame and glory yet.
When he hears about the school’s upcoming talent show, Gerald sets his sights on a new unveiling his hidden talents as a rapper. He can picture it already—kids will finally know his name. They'll beg for his autograph. Maybe he’ll even impress the super-popular Eddy Enderman!
But Gerald’s got some rivals for that top spot, not the least of which is a band of spider jockeys determined to keep a sixth-grader from winning the show. His sister is determined to blow him out of the water with her cannonball trick. Even his best friend steps up the competition with his slime-block trampoline.
In the second book of this hilarious, heavily illustrated, diary format series for Minecrafters, Gerald may win fame and glory—but what will he lose along the way?
Gerald sees this rap video of his favorite rapper Kid Z have a parrot on his shoulder and rapped with it. Gerald loves to rap, the school talent show was gonna happen in a few weeks and he wanted to get ready. Gerald set up a 30-Day plan for Winning the talent show, Find a partner-or another way to lose my stage fright. (Is there a potion for that?), Quit spriting class, Finish writing my rap song. Gerald has a skin problem called psoriasis (SORE-EYE-A-SIS), it just means he gets itchy skin. His itchy skin is worse with stress and sweating. When he was in sprinting class he found the perfect plan to get out of spriting class for good. He decided to tell his Mom that his psoriasis was acting up again because he has been sweating way too much in sprinting class. Unfortunately, his mom couldn’t see him because she was doing yoga. She was doing yoga because she is on a 30-day fitness program. His Mom never looked up and after a bit his skin was not red anymore. When Gerald told his Mom about his psoriasis, she just said to use coal tar lotion again. Before the talent show Gerald was a nervous wreck, but the first act was Bones and his friends. When it was his turn to go on stage his friend made him invisible. So when he started rapping he felt as cool as a cucumber. He opened the act with a little rap, and when Sam came on stage, Gerald added some new lyrics. Gerald’s friends all sung the last verse. They took second place to Bones and his band took first place.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Minecraft. This book might be a bit better suited for boys. It is appropriate for Middle Schoolers. You might not like to read it, it is not your style.
I think I did a good job reading this book over the marking period. I think I read often enough. I did not update Goodreads properly. I could read more books to become a better reader.
3.5 stars. It's written in the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" format, like a journal. There are pictures throughout, and its a silly little story about a creeper entering a talent contest and learning the value of friendship. My boys liked it, and it was a pretty easy read. A good pallet cleanser as we prep for our next Wingfeather book.
Really good book with an exciting plot line. As with the rest of the series, this is a must have for all minecrafters. I really loved the discovering what is really important in life that is found in this book.
I enjoyed it just as much as a Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. Gerald Creeper isn't a jerk like Greg Heffley is. The situations aren't quite as absurd as DoaWK, but I think a Minecraft fan will appreciate all the little inside jokes.
It describes a kid that is looking up to his dream and has a few challenges to get by, but that does no stop him! He plans sneaky ways to do what he wants to do!
