For a Reds fan, this is a fun read. Tom Browning delivers short reflections from his career, beginning with trying to become a big leaguer and in awe of the Reds and players from the '70s to him becoming a larger than life personality for the club. It's easy to read and the tiny snippets and commentary about so many big names from my childhood of being fan made this a lot of fun for me.

Obviously no one's going to buy "The Tom Browning Story" so they had to slap this other title on it. Although it is more or less the story of his career, there are plenty of Reds stories included from the eighties and early nineties. I was actually fine with it. I grew up a baseball fan in rural Colorado with no professional baseball team, and I chose the Reds as my team in 1985. So this was a nice walk down memory lane. Eric Davis, Dave Parker, Ron Oester, Barry Larkin, Chris Sabo, Kal Daniels, Paul O'Neill, Danny Jackson, Rob Dibble, John Franco, Bo Diaz, Lou Pinella, Marge Schott, Pete Rose . . . there were stories about all of them and many others.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and if you were a Reds fan during this time I think you will too. The climax is obviously the 1990 World Series sweep of the A's. It would have been great if the book had ended there but of course his career wasn't over yet so I had to read about all the injuries and how the team was never as great again. So it ended on kind of a downer.

It's a pretty positive book, he wasn't out to slam anyone. Just an old baseball pitcher talking about the good ol' days.

As a lifelong Dodger fan I enjoyed this book about one of our 1970/80 rivals. Fun stories about major league players etc.

A nice short biography of Tom Browning and his time with the Cincinnati Reds. There are some great stories of his teammates (Dave Parker, Eric Davis, Chris Sabo, and so many more). If you love the Reds you will enjoy this book!

I thought the book was written really well and it flowed good. The tales in the book were tasteful and positive. Also being somewhat of a Tom Browning autobiography i thought he did well mixing everything together. it was an easy read and definitely one of the better reds books I've read lately.

Entertaining.as a lifetime reds fan thoroughly enjoyed. I became a reds fan late 1950's when the Seattle rainiers were a farm team to the reds and have followed ever since.
