Noah's Ark
With its bold, modern art and simple text of about 100 words, this fresh new take on the story of Noah and his ark is just right for babies and toddlers. Children will learn that God asked Noah to build a big boat; that it rained and rained for days; and that God saved Noah and the animals, then He placed a rainbow in the sky. They will learn to count the animals two by two and will discover the colors of the rainbow as well. This charming crowd of elephants, giraffes, monkeys, and more makes a perfect gift for little ones.

The story of Noah's Ark has proven through the years to be one that young children enjoy; not because they understand the salvation message and judgment by God in the story. No, they just love the tale of lots of animals getting on board a big boat, etc.
This little board book is simply the bare bones story of the Flood and how God provided a means of saving mankind and the animals. It ends with the rainbow (a good color teaching tool).
Being a very short book for the very young child, it must be realized that the depth of the Biblical story can not be fully covered. One slight error I noticed was that all the animals entered the ark - two by two. We know that the "clean animals" were taken in sevens. This is a very good introduction to Noah's Ark for the young child. I would suggest a small "Noah's Ark" playset of little figures and an ark to enhance understanding.

This is a terrific little board book, perfect for any nursery or preschool aged kids. It's certainly a simple telling of the story of Noah and his family, but it hits the main points and includes some learning opportunities that include: counting, colors, and vocabulary. The illustrations are exemplary and perfect for young kids to explore and enjoy.
As a Pastor to Kids, this book is going on the shelves of our nursery and preschool rooms!

Hearing the Stories Anew
It is a trick of human nature that if we walk by the sock under the coffee table enough times, it will eventually disappear. We will have stopped seeing it. This is unfortunate for pristine housekeeping practices, and even more so when we’re reading the Bible. It’s tragic when we’ve heard the stories so many times that we’ve simply stopped hearing them. The phrases slip by unheeded:
“. . . without form and void
. . . and God saw that it was good
. . . two by two
. . . and the waters prevailed exceedingly.”
Maybe it’s time to slow the stories down for the sake of our hearts; for the love of foundational truth that puts the creativity of God and His limitless grace on display; for the joy of seeing it all new through the eyes of a small person in our lap or beside us in the comfy chair.
In the Beginning and Noah’s Ark, part of the Baby Bible Book Series crafted by Susana and Owen Gay, have streamlined Creation and Flood narratives down to the essential points and the actions of God which reveal His character. Colorful drawings are simple enough to invite tiny fingers to point to favorite animals and to count the stars on a page, but include sufficient detail for the little smarty pants to show off the fact that they know all the colors of the rainbow and the sound the monkey makes.
Parents, grandparents, and teachers of even the youngest toddlers can begin to establish a foundation for their tiny Bible scholars and, at the same time, find their own hearts rejoicing in the truth.
God created.
His work is good.
God rescues.
He keeps His promises.
When we participate in the spiritual formation of the small people in our lives, we may find — to our own great surprise — that we also are formed anew.

Although my son isn’t a toddler (hes 6 years old) I got these books so he could practice his reading. He loved looking at the pictures and being able to read the words himself. We love reading bible stories at home so these were perfect to read before bed and at church. He has practiced reading them to us several times already.
Both books are thick board boards and are 15 pages with nice bright colors and easy words. Both books also include number counting. There were 2 little details that I didn’t agree with in both books, but overall they were well written and we enjoyed them a lot!
