“We don’t give answers to your kind, sweetheart, we give death sentences.”

The devil is bad, but a shifter is worse.

Someone’s doing the unthinkable and summoning a demon. Worse, Liesl discovers evidence that points to the pack’s involvement—the witches’ nemeses.
But she wasn’t expecting Axel, a shifter with six-foot-plus of sinewy muscle and canines to match. As much as she fights, Axel’s touch fragments her resistance and peels the layers of her heart, revealing the part crying out for love and acceptance, leaving her craving yet vulnerable.
Now someone’s out to stop her digging up the dirt. Is it a bad witch? Or is it Axel?
This time it’s more than just her life on the line.

* I received a free copy of this book. This is my voluntary, independent, and honest review.* This book has an interesting if convoluted plot. Author TJ Adams takes a Kurt Sutter-like approach, meaning that very dramatic and graphically described events occur in a disconnected way, and remain unlinked until far later into the story. This is an especially frustrating approach to story-telling when combined with the nearly endless ruminations of both Leisl and Axel as they alternate points of view. That and the sheer volume of descriptive prose slowed the pace of the book to a crawl. It ended up being a fair amount of effort to read through to the end. I might have liked it more had it been more tautly written.
On the plus side, Leisl and Axel are well-drawn and complex characters, and remain refreshingly true to their natures despite the pull of their supernatural bond. I liked both of them immensely.

I enjoyed this well-written book. Liesl, a witch, discovers that someone is trying to summon a demon. The wolf shifters, who are the nemesis of the witches, seem to be involved. Liesl begins to investigate, and meets Axel, one of the wolf shifters. Liesl and Axel feel things for each other they are not supposed to feel and Liesl is going to have to make some tough choices. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

At first this book seemed a bit awkward in it's tempo and choice of words (I think maybe the author tried to hard with the synonyms - sometimes saying things plainly is better). However, at about 45% into the story - the characters and the world began to gel for me and I began to enjoy it.

Liesl - was bit hard to like at first - all her rebellion and stubbornness was a big pill to swallow and I kept thinking if she would just listen to others - sometimes - maybe she wouldn't find herself in some of these situations. I understand being independent and tough - (I'm all for an strong kick ass female MC) - Her naivety was a huge glaring problem for me.

Axel - OMG - what is there to say about Axel - but I want one of my own. Love big, tough & furry guys who go all gooey for that special lady! He was protective, controlling and even frustrating sometimes - but overall HOT and SWOON-WORTHY!

And once these two connected and Liesl let down some of her guards - their connection was sizzeling and steamy! Loved both the sexual tension that was between them from the first look to the last kiss!

I gave this book actually about 3.5 stars (mostly because of the awkwardness of the beginning)

I won this book on Library Thing for an honest review from the author.

Okay, here's the scoop. I thought this book was quite interesting but found that the cadence of the words to be a bit jarring at times. Why? Most of the time the author used very descriptive words, which is good, but for the sake of flow they should have used a more common word instead. Not all the time, just sometimes. As I got used to the odd cadence of the words the story got easier to read. The characters had some depth and the rate we learned about them was steady, none were too strong all the time, or too soft. I enjoyed them. Axel, I admit, was hard to take sometimes because he was such a strong character, he had his moments of softness but he was certainly a hardened character bent on staying himself even as he lost himself in the mate bond he had entered with Liesl, the 'bad witch' bent on sticking her nose into things she might just want to steer clear of. Granted I liked that about her it was surprising when she kept pushing even when things were so clearly against her will. The surprises were good, the book kept me guessing as who did it and even had a few surprises that came out of left field and surprised me good. There were a few that made me angry but I understood why they were written as well. Even so this story was fun to read and enjoy. I understand I only gave it three stars but that was for the slow start and the odd cadence, those two things make it hard to rate higher on my scale. Even so, it was a worth while read.

Liesl Whitaker is a rebellious, largely untrained Wicca. She was raised by her aunt after the deaths of her parents. She moved out of the Sanctum at age eighteen and supports herself, but still has strong ties to the Wiccan community. She has suspicions about someone crossing the line into darkness, but the Council isn't ready to act. So Liesl breaks into a warehouse to investigate, and interrupts a summoning. At the scene, she finds a Sigel and a set of dogtags.
Axel is a wolf shifter investigating dark magic when he sees a witch enter a warehouse he's watching. When she later visits the Den, demanding to see his alpha, Idrus, Axel realizes she is his and begins following her. He quickly learns Liesl is quick to run headlong into danger, slow to consider the danger to herself, and intent on digging to the bottom of who is behind the summoning. At first she believes it's the wolves because of the tags, but Magda, her aunt comes to their defense. It seems the summoner is a witch, one who planned to set loose a high level demon, and who was going to use the dogtags to possess Idrus, destroying the pack. Methodically and doggedly, Liesl follows the clues she unearths, along with Axel, who has become her shadow. And Axel makes a choice that will have a profound impact on both their lives.
This is a very good paranormal romance with just the right amount of mystery and suspense. It is a standalone with an HEA.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book set up a Romeo & Juliet type story with werewolves and witches. It had some smut, some action, and a little bit of magic.

Liesl is a pretty underwhelming witch who leads life half in the human world and half in the witchy world. Just about the only witch responsibility she takes seriously is protecting the world from evil. One night while out on “patrol” in a bad neighborhood, she interrupts a demon summoning with evidence of shifter and witch involvement. Determined (against her aunt’s wishes) to track down the culprit, she flings herself into the pack’s club/den. There is already tension between shifters and witches and Liesl’s poking around doesn’t seem to help much.

One good thing does come out of her detective work – she meets Axel. While he has already been introduced to her from afar, this up close and personal introduction immediately tells him he has to have her. To do that, though, he has to essentially remove her from the human world and throw her into his. These two dance around each other a bit, but in the end we get resolution to the mystery and the romance (sometimes in a little bit of a rush). I kept watching the time remaining decrease on my kindle and was on the edge of my seat hoping that everything got resolved. While it ultimately did, there were a few outstanding questions (no cliffhangers).

2.5 stars because I did not like Liesl.
This could have been so good but once again we get the TSTL female lead.
Liesl was just too stubborn and big headed for me to like her. She knows she is doing wrong and going against what she has been told or asked, but keeps doing it as she knows better.
What's not to like about Axle, a hunky wolf shifter, he was lovely and I felt sorry he was bonded to Liesl.
Whilst I really enjoyed the build-up between Axle and Liesl and their interaction in becoming lovers and more, Liesl spoilt this book for me.
I did also like some of the other characters we met.

This was a very interesting story but Liesl was arrogant and did the sneak out to face the baddie all on her own when she had a whole pack that would have helped.
She acted just as the baddie predicted she would, got herself trapped (then has regrets) and nearly became something that Axle would have had to destroy, how would that have made him feel. Selfish and self-absorbed describe her best. Her near death epiphany about her life and Axle came too late in the book for me.

Whilst this is not this authors fault, I am so sick of reading about too stupid to live heroines. They seem to be popular at the moment. I prefer kick ass women who can look after themselves and be an equal partner to their men.

I received a copy via Insta-Freebie for an honest review.

Liesl is a young, determined yet stubborn witch who has no regards for her own safety. She finds herself in a warehouse where she discovers a demon has been summoned but by whom? She finds Wolves tags - are they involved? Can they be trusted?

Axel is a wolf shifter and he's been assigned by his alpha to look into the summoning. However, Liesl's presence makes him hold back. He's drawn to the witch, her scent intoxicates him and drives his senses crazy but why?

Their identities defines them: but will a witch and wolf surrender to their desires? Can they trust each other to form the ultimate bond?

I enjoyed the book: it was intense and full of mystery, suspense and romance. This wasn't an average shapeshifter romance book: it was so much more: with witches, demons and hell hounds. It had a nice balance between paranormal and romance. The book captivated my attention from the very beginning. I liked the magnetic pull between Liesl and Axel: their attraction towards one another is fiery. I enjoyed Axel's alpha male persona and he's definitely kept on his toes by Liesl.

I received this book free in exchange for my honest review.

I thoroughly loved this book, Liesl and Axel are a perfect match, both stubborn and yet the perfect match. Adams does a great job of drawing you into the story line that you never want to put the book down, the characters are so deep and detailed you almost forget they are not real. Anyone know where i can find an Axel for myself?

The story kept me guessing whenever it hinted at the secrets of the past, sometimes i was thinking along the right lines and sometimes i wasn't. Seriously i disliked Justin from the start but the ending seemed fitting for him, the suspense getting to that part though had me bouncing around the room waiting for my reader to charge so i could finish the book.

I never written a proper review before so bear with me, i may edit this several times before i am happy. I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone.

On a side note not sure if it been corrected but the free copy i got for review had a few spelling errors, i was so lost in the story however i forgot to note the pages and sentences.

This was an interesting read - and I really liked the history of the side characters that we saw glimpses of. I will say that sometimes the heroine didn't come off as strong and independent - more just having a bad attitude with a chip on her shoulder. It can be difficult to balance this and I'm afraid the author didn't do the best job all the time. I really loved the hero, who was a huge softie beneath his bad boy, alpha exterior.

My biggest problem was how obvious the villain of the story was. I had it pegged from the second he appeared in the book. It would've been a great story if he had been a red herring instead. The guy had nothing redeeming about him at any point, so of course everyone is going to be able to figure out that he's the bad guy. That doesn't make for an interesting read. It was the relationship development, rather than the actual plot, that kept me interested.

Disclosure - I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This story kept me reading. Liesl is a witch. Axel is a wolf shifter. The two should be enemies but fate has determined otherwise. Bad things are happening and impulsive Liesl tries to stop them. Axel becomes her support, her savior, her thorn. Their feelings strengthen along with their bond. It is a bumpy ride with secrets being revealed and a mysterious villain trying to raise a demon. This is my first by this author and I really enjoyed it. I recommend it highly and look forward to reading more.

Witches and wolves

Liesl is a witch but knew nothing about it until she was older. Magdalene was her aunt, who took her in when her parents died in a car crash. She rebelled against Magdalene and the council. She uncovers a plot to raise a demon. She ends up going to The Den, where the wolf shifters own. Here she meets Axle. Great story with so many twists and turns. Highly recommend this book.

This story rotates around wolves and witches. In the past they fought to destroy each other. Now they try to keep boundaries and interact as little as possible. But one witch will do anything to stop a person who is trying to summon a demon. This will draw her into the world of the wolves. She just didn't expect that she would become bound to one of them forever.

The story has some steamy scenes and violence. Recommend for mature readers only.

Really enjoyable book!

Once I started this book I didn't put it down until I finished it. This isn't your usual "shifter" book, it's a mystery and a romance. The question is what happens when you get an inept little witch with an egotistical wolf who are both looking for answers. I really liked this book and I'd recommend it.
