Counterfeits and Cauldrons

Rate this book
The tiny, hard to find town of Waresville is a magical place but not the rainbows and glitter kind. Here, the supernatural rule the show, the entire town's economy based on the spooky ambiance. There's not a soul in Waresville that doesn't know the score. Without spooky tours, magic shops, and an unexplainable murder every couple of weeks, this town would be bankrupt. Unfortunately for the citizens, magic is never simple, and it can take as quickly as it gives. All over Waresville, counterfeit bills with a phony, pimple-faced Andrew Jackson are popping up. And then disappearing. In a matter of hours, the fake money dissolves into a cloud of green dust, leaving the shop keepers broke. Businesses are shutting down left and right in Waresville, and not even the revenue from the annual dance competition can keep this little town afloat. Harper Beck, stage name Foxxy, has got her own problems to deal with, and they have nothing to do with missing money. Wyatt, her delicious, detective boyfriend, wants to marry her. With Harper's commitment issues and deep-rooted fear of letting her new family down, she runs in the opposite direction, right toward the counterfeit case. And if disappearing money, broke friends, and a confrontation with her past wasn't enough, Harper has some new, magical neighbors that are just a little too interested in her. This Christmas season, nothing is what it seems in Waresville. Can Harper take a bite out of crime and confront her fears before crime takes a bite out of her? Novella (approx. 40,000 words). Sixth Volume of the Harper "Foxxy" Beck Mystery Series. It is a standalone (reading prior or future volumes not required to enjoy the book, no cliffhanger).

Stepford Wives?

A new neighbour has her caught unawares as she is the perfect housewife and wife whilst she is always an unholy mess and just keeping out of jail. However when she goes to the store and sees money go up in a puff of green smoke her interest is captured. Magical counterfeiting! Can she find out who is behind the scheme? Will they be able to save local businesses from going bust? Why are her neighbours so intent on getting close to her and her small family? Why were Wyatt and Oliver together? Plus there's also the problem of Christmas. It is only a few days away and things have to be perfect. A much better plot then the previous book. Just wish Vic had had more of a role.

This is a great book; this book this the sixth book in the Harper “Foxxy” Beck series written by Raven Snow. Harper “Foxxy” Beck is a witch and lives in the hard to find tourist trap in Waresville, Florida where supernatural occurrences are money in the town’s pockets. Harper soon finds herself deep into finding clues in the counterfeit case. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author.
A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Roxxy found something at the grocery story that intrigued her. She saw money turn to ash. The cashier did not seem surprised. Roxxy started asking questions and continues throughout the book searching for who had enough power to work such a spell. Most of the bills disintegrate after the customer leaves, so the company must absorb the loss. Most of her friends that own small businesses can not survive with this loss.
During all of this Roxxy comes down one morning and discovers a women with Wyatt. Sarah, next door neighbor and writer also Ben her human husband. She gets chummy with Wyatt and calls her Mrs Wyatt. Roxxy is generally creeped out by her. Wyatt gives her a sad look when she corrects Sarah about the Mrs. part.
Wyatt and Roxxy enter a dance contest, which thrills Wyatt. Roxxy discovers that dancing with her hunny is fun. That love and marriage bug is getting more and more
comfortable sounding. Then comes the ultimate, "Don't you want to be my mom for real?"
I received this book for an honest review.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

Creepy new neighbors

Someone is passing counterfeit money around Waresville that mysteriously disappears a few hours after use. As of that's not bad enough, Harper has new neighbors that are the poster children for sexism from the 50's and they are super interested in her. Finding cause to reunite with Oliver, Harper tries to solve the mystery without too much bodily harm - or the help of that awful Officer Kosher. What she discovers will leave you sick to your stomach and with a serious case of the creeps.

Vic has moved to Waresville. While Harper is excited, it still seems kind of quiet in town. Harper knows there must be some thieving or murdering going on, so why wasn't she informed? All it takes is one new neighbor to send Harper where she shouldn't be. It doesn't take long until she thinks she's found out what is happening in town. She could be wrong though.

Harper is always a delight to read about and to post about. She's a modern witch who doesn't conform to anyone's belief of who she should be. I love that about her. The town's dance competition is coming up. Everyone is excited! Meet new townspeople and reacquaint yourself with the ones you already know. Laughter, silliness and just downright fun, this book will make you smile and shake your head. Ms. Snow does a fantastic job of keeping up with this different town and it's inhabitants. I really like how she's tied this case up with a big ole bow. You never know what you'll get in the next cozy witch mystery. I love the characters who are well defined and the story-lines that are so well developed. Just enough mystery to keep you tuned in and just enough romance to make you sigh every now and again. I can't imagine anyone not liking these books. Perfect for that quick read before bed or when you only have time for a short lunch. I highly, highly recommend these books. I guarantee you'll be telling friends to read them too.

I find one flaw. I wish they were longer. *grin* Sorry Raven, had to say it.

I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because this one really blew me away at the end. ~Copy of book provided by author in exchange for a fair review~

Sleazy, tacky, heroin?

I gave this story a whole 2 only because the author can string words together in a somewhat cohesive manner. The main character, was, I believe, suppose to be whacky and endearing, but clearly fell far from it. She, instead, came across, as sleazy and tacky in most everything she said, and did (very strange indeed) . Her appearance was, likewise, intended to be whacky, but was just stupid. Sometime authors forget that their own personalities sneak through in their characters. You need to make your hero likeable ,admirable in some small way. Not everyone thinks it's funny to forget Christmas, when you live with your boyfriend and his young son, not do to anything larger than that you were breaking into someone's house, and upon remembering ,give your ( not gay ) likeable stepson neon pink rollerskates. The humor fell short, the characters were unbelievable,in total left a nasty taste.

I have received a free advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This review was posted on another site also.
I am glad to see that some of the interaction between the characters has not changed. In some parts it just makes it all the more funnier.
The tone of the books have not changed, very glad for that.
Harper is starting to use magic a little more. Hopefully in the future she will realize her true gift and how to control it.
Looking forward to future books.

Harper solves another mystery

I love these cozy witch mysteries. Raven Snow weaves a quick simple mystery, that everyone can enjoy.

Harper is always getting into trouble, but in the end she solves the mystery, when no one else can.

I enjoy mysteries that don't always have murders in them.

I'm also enjoying the way Harper uses her magic for good. She loves her extended family, even though they aren't always related by blood.

While the investigative side of this episode were a bit choppy and time factors seemed off, it is witch craft after all. The baddies are pretty obvious from the get go BUT, there is a twist and it's a doozy. So don't write of Raven or Harper just yet.

Great story

I love these books. Harper is a hoot but a courageous and loveable character. This book is like a fairy tale with the supposedly bad witch getting the prince
