Phillip Barlow-Barrett’s just an election day away from realizing his dream of serving in Congress. He must be more of a political threat than he thought since his opponent’s actually having him tailed. The spy who dogs him is anything but subtle, with all the grace of nothing until she sits down at a piano. Then the melodies she makes are just what his heart needs to hear. Pippi’s taking a sabbatical from her music studies to help her ailing father. If that means spying on one really hot guy, she’ll do it. The problem is she likes what he has to say and likes him even more. When her sense of honesty forces her to resign her job, she overhears a scheme that will put her life in danger, and now it’s Phillip who must keep an eye on her. Falling in love wasn’t in either one of their plans.
I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by Laura Browning, but this couple really caught my attention. They’re about as different as people could be and their meeting is anything but storybook, but they meld whether they want to or not. Her music has always been Pippi’s life and though from a lower middle class family she had achieved Julliard until she was needed to help look after her father. Phillip is used to privilege and power as part of an upper class family. With the election just days away and Pippi’s life in danger their chemistry is put to the test. Check this one out!
