I was so very lucky to have won an uncorrected proof copy in a twitter competition, and I am so happy I did as I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This book made me laugh out loud on many occasions, and I devoured it in just over a day. Amazing! I loved the main character, and the supporting characters were all great as well, they really were a part of the story and not just padding it out. I loved the diary format, it's almost like a modern Bridget Jones style diary :)

I cannot wait for the other books in this series, as I completely loved this one. Highly recommend, it will make your day!

When do I begin with this book? I quite liked Kiki up until the 30th of August then my feelings for her went downhill from there.

The book reads like a journal (hence why the book is called The Wedding Diaries) with dates of all the entries she writes. It's a great way to read this book and it helps fulfill the fantasy of reading someone else's diary. The book is quite funny and there were many moments where I have to put the book down because I was laughing so hard. But unfortunately, it was not enough to save the book. There were a few spelling mistakes but I am not sure if these were missed in editing or deliberate to make it seem more authentic.

Kiki is a nightmare. Like I said, I liked her up until the 30th of August because on the 31st of August she looks at engagment rings and that really damaged my opinion of her. Who cares how much the ring costs? The one she loves is 400 pounds but apparently this is too cheap. Thom, the groom, is crushed.

I liked Thom but I don't think Kiki deserved him, he is just so lovely

I found Kiki very selfish, even when it came to other peoples wedding, especially when she was brisdesmaid! She has to get her way. Although I am not sure why her mum is hassling her about sending the invitation 8 months before the wedding and when they were sent it was 5 months before the wedding.... Far too early if you ask me.

She seemed to make really rash decisions about the wedding. You have Just dropped 2000 pounds on a venue but didn't bother to ask them if they have either own tables and chairs etc. Are you kidding?

Basically, the story is - girl gets engaged, behaves like brat, doesn't get dream wedding, throws tantrum, gets absolutely stunning wedding anyway. Bitch.

I don't think I will be reading The Baby Diaries, I'll spare myself the aggravation.

I bought this book after reading some good reviews for it, I was mostly intrigued by the comments about it actually being written in the form of a diary – I just had to see this for myself so I decided to buy it.

The first entry in Kiki’s diary was all about the proposal and I found myself laughing after just a few pages (always a good sign). The diary style did take a little while to get used to but it was really fun to read – I felt like I was snooping in someone’s diary, something I’d never do… honest .

I loved reading about Kiki’s job as an editorial assistant at Polka Dot Books, working with books would be a dream job for me so this was a fascinating part of the story in my eyes. When she was put in charge of a celebrity wedding book I was excited to see how it would affect the plans for her own wedding.

There were lots of funny moments throughout but a few really stood out – an eventful sales conference, drunken diary entries and a less than successful hen weekend were just some of the laugh out loud moments.

As the book progressed Kiki just got more and more swept away by the whole wedding planning thing and that is when I noticed cracks appearing. I actually felt torn at this point because I kind of agreed with both parties and couldn’t choose a side, I could only hope that they would come to a mutual agreement that made them both happy.

After many bumps in the road a wedding did happen and I personally enjoyed the end result. I think that this is a must-read for anyone planning a wedding, especially with the handy wedding guide at the back of the book.

This was an enjoyable read, different from other books I’ve read and funny too!

*3 stars maybe 3 and a half stars*

This was a nice books but it wasn't what I was expecting, I thought it was going to be a funny book about a couple who are planning their wedding and everything goes wrong and you laugh so hard while reading it.
It is obviously a book about a couple getting married and a few things do go wrong but as you are reading about it you neither feel sorry for them or want to laugh it's more written as just fact like 'ok this happens now lets move on.'
I really wanted to like this book as I was reading it as part of the UnderHyped reads readathon but I just found myself almost not caring about what happened in it.
It was (as the title suggests) written in the style of a diary but it was also written like a normal book so there was a lot of speech written out etc and a lot of parts added about what the other members of the family were doing which you wouldn't really write in a diary.

All in all it was a nice book but I don't feel compelled to read the next book in the duology I'm afraid

A very funny and entertaining debut novel from Sam Binnie, not to be missed.

Kiki is planning her wedding and shares every last detail in her diary. From choosing The Dress, the honeymoon, favours, hen night, it is all there. Also included is the background story of her relationship with Thom and how it suffers during the run up to the wedding and how she is helping to produce a Celebrity wedding book through her work.

I laughed my way through this funny and candid account of how planning a wedding can turn a bride into bridezilla no matter how much she protests she isn't the least bit stressed or controlling.
I have to admit I saw a few moments there that had I could identify with but will keep them to myself.

Friendly warning, if you are only weeks away from your own wedding, just wait until after your big day to read! LOL

I am looking forward to the baby diaries next up from this author.

Kinda like it though. Even when I read some of reviews are not what as I expected, but never mind. Am the one who read so let me judge based on my reading muahahaha ! At first i found that Kiki is quite over with all the wedding plan, too over the top I might say. But I think that's normal for a women to have their wedding according to their dreams. The wedding-diary concept makes me think that OMG wedding is sooooooo lots of things to do especially when u want it to be boombastic ! Quite pity Keeks for what have happened to her during the planning with Eve and friends being evil, family ignore her etc.. What I like the most is when Thom lost his job, they got no money to cover the wedding expenses and start to realize that family is the most important thing. No such thing as grand wedding but most lovely wedding full of LOVES omg I love this part. How cute !

This wasn't amazing but also not bad! It became a little repetitive, but an interesting twist. I know that chick-lit isn't typically known for being incredibly unique, but there were a quite a few clichés in this. All in all, I paid less than $3.50 for this, and if you can borrow/get it for cheap, not a bad summer read!

I couldn't finish this book. For me, worst thing was the writing style. It was really hard to read and story wasn't good enough to keep me going. What a waste of time.

I absolutely hate it when talking in book is written like this;

Woman: I say blaa blaa
Man: I say blaa blaa
Woman: I say blaa blaa

Would not recommend.

This book was really cute and a very easy read. I loved how all the characters seemed down to earth and normal (except for the ones who weren't by design). So often in these books I just want to punch the characters for being dumb for dramas saie but had none of that in this book. I also loved the wedding at the end it was a fitting end for a good book.

One of the best books I've EVER read! Really easy to follow and somehow funny! I identified myself with the main character, Kiki, who goes from sweet bride-to-be to bridezilla just a bit, but who doesn't? I'll start the second book in a minute! Five happy stars

This was pretty rubbish. No romance - as they were together, and nothing really changed in their relationship throughout the book. Just a girl freaking out about a wedding.
But what's with the British and BBQs. Sausages and potato salad is not wedding food - even if you're self-catering.

I have a bit of a confession to make: I’m really not a wedding fan. As a 22-year-old single girl, I am loathe to read books about weddings or babies, or anything like that. I generally find them to be a bit boring. It’s generally not my scene. Weddings just do not interest me – I find the expense to be extreme and although I do believe in marriage, I just think a wedding is an excuse to spend as much money as you like and throw a big ol’ party. Weddings make people (brides, mostly) crazy. However, I do enjoy a good book about a wedding, as long as the crazy isn’t too crazy and the wedding talk isn’t boring/long-winded. So when I received The Wedding Diaries to review, I was very interested. I like diary-based books, and after reading the first page I knew this would be a wedding book I’d enjoy, and I did.

The Wedding Diaries is rather self-explanatory, as Kiki Carlow, after being proposed to by her fiance Thom (who, by the way, sounds like the perfect man!), decides that the best way to remember her wedding and the planning of that wedding, is to start a diary recounting every thing that she does in the run up to her August wedding to Thom. It’s simple and it’s executed perfectly. Especially since the book isn’t all weddings. I mean, it is all weddings, but it’s not in a bad way. Not only is Kiki planning her own wedding, but as part of her job at publishers Polka Dot, she’s also helping celeb Jacki write a book all about her own wedding. It’s such a simple idea with an even better format – a diary is perfect, and it works perfectly. There is a bit of a lack of dialogue (obviously), but Kiki Carlow is such a warm and engaging heroine that it doesn’t really matter. The way she recounts things is so Kiki that you don’t need to hear all the conversations and dialogue.

I really enjoyed the novel. It’s a brilliant idea for a book, excecuted simply but perfectly, but mostly, it had a cast of fab characters. Kiki is a Kinsella-worthy heroine and she makes the book light up. She has such warmth and personality and it just shines through in her diary entries. Husband-to-be Thom is also rather swoon-worthy, seeming to be the perfect groom. Yes, he’s a bit prickly on the money subject, but who isn’t, frankly? I’d have liked to have seen more of Kiki’s sister Susie, who could have been a perfect (and humourous) foil for Kiki’s madness had she been a bit more involved. She could have pulled Kiki back from the brink of wedding madness, if she’d only not been pregnant. I absolutely adored Jacki, as well, the down-to-Earth celeb who is writing her own wedding book, for the masses. The only fly in the ointment I suppose was that Kiki’s mother doesn’t speak to her for ages, and we never really learn why. Yes, we can presume it’s because Kiki doesn’t want to hear her mother’s opinion on anything, but it’s never actually said so we can only assume and I didn’t really get that vibe from Kiki’s mother – that she’d be happy to just not talk to her daughter. It seemed odd.

Overall, though, I thoroughly enjoyed The Wedding Diaries. I’m so pleased it’s the first in a trilogy with The Baby Diaries (uh-oh) and The Homemaker Diaries to come. As a non-baby fan, The Baby Diaries terrifies me, but it seems as though it’s going to be a bit like Kinsella and Shopaholic and Baby, rather than a bad thing and from the preview at the end of The Wedding Diaries, it seems great, too, so I’m actually really looking forward to picking it up. I’d thoroughly recommend The Wedding Diaries. Binnie is a warm, funny, and engaging author and Kinsella fans will just love her (and Kiki for that matter!). I can’t wait for more from Kiki Carlow, she’s definitely a heroine to remember and I just adored the book.

Title : The Wedding Diaries
Author : Sam Binnie
Publication date : 16th August 2012
Publisher : Avon
Source : Sent by publisher, thank you!

Rating :4/5

Kiki Carlow is shocked but delighted when boyfriend Thom proposes. Planning a wedding is easy, right? That’s as long as you ignore:

1. The utterly bankrupting price of the only dress you’ll ever truly love.
2. Your suddenly pregnant sister – surprise!
3. The celebrity wedding you’re covering for work which is devouring your every waking thought.
4. The Mother of the Bride. Entirely.

Kiki soon discovers that planning the perfect wedding might just bring total chaos to the rest of her life. Can she stop being a Bridezilla in time to marry the man she loves?

I was over the moon when I received an email from Avon to review The Wedding Diaries. Instantly, the thought of beautiful white dresses and wedding bells registered in my mind. I agreed to do it, as I am a sucker for a fabulous wedding lit. Shhh, I love weddings. The book was supposed to arrive about a month ago, but due to some unfortunate incident - which was too bitter to forget (involving doggie piss), Avon kindly sent me another copy.

Unlike the books in the market now, The Wedding Diaries is written in a journal/diary entry format.
I've never read anything like this before and I was really happy Sam decided to spice things up with writing this book in that particular format. For me, I found it wonderfully refreshing and everyone likes something new, right?

The Wedding Diaries follows Kiki Carlow, a twenty-something who is larger-than-life, downright humorous and has an enormous heart. Since the book is Kiki's "wedding diary", readers are given more insight from Kiki's take on everything, from daily events to planning her BIG wedding. Honest to truth, I liked Kiki. She was really funny with an edge, feisty and fun to be with, but sometimes a little bit too hilarious. The other characters played some roles in the book, but hardly a lot of depth in them as the book mainly revolves around Kiki only.

As the book is in the form of diary entries, the dates were recorded in the book, so the plot of the book flowed very smoothly albeit upbeat. From the proposal to the happy ending, the book was very well balanced with the right amount of plot twist and I was a bit let down with the conflict of the book though, as it was pretty clichéd. But at the end, the ending was very well written and the characters deserved a happily ever after. I really enjoyed Sam's writing style because it was easy to read and light, straight-to-the-point, but some parts of her writing remain a mystery to me, some of which were supposed to be sarcastic remarks, but sadly, were hard to get.

The Wedding Diaries will provide a lovely story of bridezilla and exquisite weddings and it DID make me want to search for Bridesmaids and watch it again! It was an absolutely entertaining book with a well-written plot and right amount of humour. Stay tuned for the sequel, The Baby Diaries, which will be out in spring 2012. Kiki is due to marry her boyfriend Thom and at first seems to have a very lackadaisical attitude to planning the big day. However, as time goes on she becomes the very definition of a Bridezilla, putting the wedding first regardless of what else is going on in her and her family's lives.

I seem to have noticed a lot of recent chick lit books about weddings, which is a slight variation on the genre being about finding or losing a man. This one is very definitely on that bandwagon, but tries to be different by being in the form of a wedding planning diary written by the bride-to-be. This conceit works quite well for a book about a Bridezilla as Kiki is not interested in anyone else's opinions so it feels natural to see everything through her eyes. There were particulary stages of the book where I would have liked to hear someone else's view on things as I have to say I didn't like Kiki much and would have liked to understand why her fiance and family love her.

The whole set-up of a wedding-based chick lit book has to be that the wedding takes over, brings out the worst in everyone, there's a crisis of some kind and everyone then realises what's important (i.e. not the wedding). In order for this to work in The Wedding Diaries Kiki has to be quite unpleasant and unsympathetic, but to my mind this was done to so great an extent that I didn't buy her sudden conversion to being a nicer person. I didn't like her, didn't want to spend time with her, and spent much of the book wanting to give her a slap, which to me means that the novel was not a success.

I see there's a sequel on the way, The Baby Diaries, but I don't feel the need to read it and will be deliberately giving it a wide berth.

I couldn't wait to read The Wedding Diaries as soon as I saw the cover. It's so shiny and pretty and tied up with a bow and the inside of the book was just as brilliant as the outside. Told through diary form with anecdotes, lists and dialogue, The Wedding Diaries follows Kiki as she plans her own wedding, attending old and new friends' weddings along the way. From disastrous hen nights to sourcing the perfect cake, The Wedding Diaries is a fun, often laugh-out-loud read. I found the diary entries very easy to read, with whole months flowing by, and was immediately drawn right into Kiki's mindset. Her relationship with her sister was wondeful with its quirky ups and downs and I loved her easy-going relationship with Thom (who may just be the most perfect husband to be. Ever).

My favourite parts of the book were the To Do lists at the end of most of the diary entries. They were a tiny snapshot of what was going through Kiki's mind as she flitted from one idea to the next or changed her mind completely and I found them very entertaining.

At the back of the book, there is a section offering tips about planning a wedding, from food and drink (with recipes) to music and honeymoon destinations. There is also a sneak preview of the next installment in Kiki and Thom's life, The Baby Diaries, which is due out in spring 2013. The Wedding Diaries was so good, I can't wait to see what happens next.

This is about a girl planning a wedding. It starts off well, she's sensible but ambitious. Can see her friends errors in their weddings, but then suddenly the book turns and she's made out to be selfish and greedy. The ending is disappointing to say the least. Its moral is you should be grateful that he said yes and your guests said yes, whilst remembering that the entire day is for your guests.

The advice at the back ( not part of the story)on brides to be is as ludicrous as the ending and incredibly sexist and weird. it suggests that if your brother cares about your wedding your relationship is dubious, I'm not sure if that means maybe you aren't brother and sister or if it means you're more than. Either way he's not allowed to care, and neither is any man other than you're future husband. They're just weirdos if they do.

Its not that funny either, but perhaps its cos I'm a bloke. It is easy to read though, perfect for a train journey.

A long time while reading this book was for 2 stars. For me personally it kicked when Kiki found out that she can't have her wonderful wedding that she was dreaming of.
But was this wedding really so wonderful? for me full of cliches, nothing more. And actually it was so predictable, crazy bride - to - be, thinking just about the wedding, forgeting what is really important on this day.
Really good that this book is written in a diary form, I cannot imagine it different.
All in all, it was not my favourite read, I was not so hooked and interested in this what's going to happen, didn't understand some of the relations (between mother and Kiki, and what the hell was the problem with Pedro???? and why was this so important actually?)and it started to be a real book just at the end. But anyway, after reading an extract from "The Baby Diaries" I will give it a go.

Absobloodylutely HATE this book!!! It was utterly rubbish!!! I did not find it funny what so ever. I tried to force myself to finish it but did not even bother finish it at the end, it was that bad! Only good thing about it, is the cover. The cover is beautiful and thats the only positive thing about it!

I hated the main character and everything about her. She was someone I just wanted to slap. Annoyed me so much!!!

I feel like throwing it in the recycle bin, thats how bad it was. Waste of money and time!

I thought it would have a proper storyline and it would be funny. It was just about a bridezilla you want to slap. Constantly complaining about this and that, thats what the book is about most of the time. A bridezilla complaining. I expected more than just a book filled with complaints.

If we can do 0 stars I would or -star! Its not even a one star!

When Kiki Carlow’s boyfriend Thom proposes to her, a happy and delighted Kiki decides to write a diary of the run up to the wedding including all the planning and preparation for a keepsake for her and Thom. Thinking that the entire organisation will be easy, Kiki soon finds out that planning the perfect wedding, will be far more difficult than she ever thought.

Written in a lively and fun way The Wedding Diaries is an entertaining read with good humour. A nice easy read that fans of Chick Lit will enjoy. This is the debut novel from Sam Binnie and I look forward to reading the next in this series which is called The Baby Diaries.

I thought this book was okay, it started off well and the last chunk was also good but Kiki was so unbearable in the middle that I considered giving up reading it. I thought her relationship with Eve was overdramatised and not very well explained - I didn't understand whether she liked or hated her, and why exactly, etc. I liked that the conversations between Kiki and Thom were 'normal', as in I could imagine the conversations taking place as opposed to overexaggerated conversations. I thought all the characters were good, and I liked how Kiki picked up more friends throughout the year in a realistic manner and it wad nice to see those relationships develop.

Kiki Carlow is in wedding mode when her boyfriend proposes . She works for a small publisher and has been given a book on a celeb on her marriage which gives Kiki grand ideas, add in her mum whose help she declines thus upsetting and a few crazy characters and there you have what is an unbelievably badly written book .
The book just had no depth whatsoever and I cant work out how it ever got published .
I have been well read for over four decades and there are few books which i failed to finish but this was one.

Every bride needs to read this and for those who think their friend or family member are turning into 'bridezillas', perhaps quietly slip a copy in their purse.

After all, it's about the person you are marrying not the cake, the dress or all the other things that people don't really notice (sugar coated almonds = yuck!).

This was an easy read and was a good choice for a holiday read (which is what I chose it for). I found the excerpts from some classic novels a bit annoying and unnecessary (they didn't add anything to the book) but there were some funny moments in the story. There were a few chapters where the author seemed to lose focus and rambled a little.
